Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the three pillars of the 5S school culture (Smile, Greeting, Greeting, Politeness, Courtesy), religious, and literacy, and its impact on the character formation of students at SDN Merjosari 2. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of observation and in-depth interviews with the principal, the vice-curriculum supervisor, and the homeroom teacher. The results of the study indicate that the 5S culture implemented through the habit of greeting, shaking hands, and being friendly successfully changes student behavior to be more polite and disciplined. Religious culture includes alternating dhuha prayers between classes, congregational zuhur prayers, Qur'an tartil, and joint prayers, which increase students' responsibility for worship. Literacy culture is realized through class reading corners, Wednesday storytelling activities, and group discussions, which not only improve reading skills but also students' courage to speak and express opinions. Evaluation of success is carried out through violation records and regular homeroom teacher meetings. Obstacles found include differences in family backgrounds and peer influence. Overall, the three pillars of school culture at SDN Merjosari 2 effectively build a generation with superior character in terms of politeness, religiosity, and literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of doomscrolling among university students from the perspective of hadith on time management. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive method with an empirical approach and thematic hadith study. Empirical data were obtained through written responses from students who actively use social media, while the thematic hadith approach was used to examine hadiths related to free time, youth, accountability of life, and leaving what is not beneficial. The findings show that doomscrolling among students often begins with ordinary activities such as seeking entertainment, following recent news, or reading online comments, but gradually develops into repetitive consumption of negative content. This habit affects students’ attention, emotional condition, rest time, and academic responsibilities. From the hadith perspective, doomscrolling reflects the need for awareness in using time responsibly. The relevant hadiths emphasize that free time and youth are valuable blessings, human life will be held accountable, and Muslims are encouraged to leave matters that bring no benefit.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the consumer behavior of Muslim K-Pop fans (Kpopers) from the perspective of the hadith on tasyabbuh, while also providing education on the legal boundaries of entertainment in Islam. Using a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach, data were collected through a digital open-ended questionnaire administered to 13 Muslim student respondents aged 20–23. The results indicate that the majority of informants exhibit consumption behavior driven by internal motivations for emotional satisfaction as well as external influences from fandom culture, particularly in the purchase of photocard, albums, and attending concerts. From the perspective of the hadith on tasyabbuh, these consumption activities and the K-pop fans’ enthusiasm are deemed to remain within reasonable limits and are permissible in Islam because they are purely matters of muamalah and worldly entertainment, not part of non-Muslim religious rituals or practices. Nevertheless, fan characteristics can be divided into two types: wise fans who are able to control their spending based on the priority of urgent needs, and impulsive fans who are prone to falling into wastefulness (israf) due to a lack of self-control. Therefore, self-control remains necessary so that this enjoyment of entertainment does not violate religious law.

Abstract

This study explores the transformation of academic culture through the implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at SMP Al-Hikmah International Islamic Boarding School Malang. The study aims to understand how IB influences students’ learning behaviors, teacher strategies, and the integration of local and Islamic values. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving semi-structured interviews with two students, a vice principal, and a technology teacher, as well as participatory observations and school documentation. Findings indicate that the IB program encourages self-managed learning, active student engagement, reflective thinking, and collaborative skills. Teachers adapt their teaching methods to facilitate student-centered learning, using flexible classroom arrangements, technology, and continuous guidance to support students’ autonomy. Integration of local Islamic values is applied through structured modules, religious discussions, and visual learning media. Collaboration with external institutions further strengthens students’ leadership, independence, and character development. Overall, the study demonstrates that combining international curriculum standards with local and religious values can create a learning culture that is independent, reflective, and adaptive, preparing students for global challenges. The findings provide practical insights for educational institutions seeking to implement international curricula while preserving cultural and religious identity, and suggest areas for future research on broader student populations and long-term outcomes.

Abstract

School culture is one of the key factors influencing the quality of education in an institution. This study aims to describe the role of school culture in bringing about educational change at Al Ghaffar Islamic Elementary School. The study employs a qualitative approach using observation and interviews. The results of the study indicate that SD Islam Al Ghaffar implements a school culture rooted in the Qur’an and moral values, manifested through daily religious practices such as mandatory morning recitation sessions, the recitation of the Asmaul Husna, collective istighfar, and qira’ah as the school’s distinctive feature. Additionally, the school has developed the Al Ghaffar Method as an internal approach to Quranic education, which has been adopted by 18 schools in the Malang region. A culture of discipline is enforced through a tiered intervention system involving homeroom teachers, the student affairs office, and the principal. The involvement of all stakeholder teachers, students, parents, and the community is key to the successful implementation of the school culture. These findings demonstrate that a consistent and structured school culture can foster sustainable educational change, shaping students into individuals who are religious, disciplined, and of noble character.

Abstract

The tradition of reciting Hidzib Bahr is one of the religious practices preserved in Islamic boarding schools and reflects the implementation of hadith values in daily life. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Hidzib Bahr recitation tradition at PPP Kuttabul Banat Lasem, analyze the forms of living hadith reflected in the practice, and explore the meanings and hadith values understood by the students through this tradition. This research employed a field research design with an empirical qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the Hidzib Bahr recitation is conducted regularly after the congregational Fajr prayer and attended by all students as part of the pesantren’s spiritual development program. This tradition represents a form of living hadith as it embodies the values of prophetic traditions concerning the virtues of remembrance (dhikr) and gathering in dhikr assemblies after Fajr prayer. Furthermore, the students interpret the tradition as a means of taqarrub ilallah (drawing closer to Allah), ta'dzim ilal-ustadz (respecting and honoring teachers), and cultivating spiritual discipline and consistency (istiqamah). This study concludes that the Hidzib Bahr recitation tradition at PPP Kuttabul Banat Lasem serves as a manifestation of living hadith that contributes to the internalization of Islamic values and the development of students’ religious character.

Abstract

Academic burnout is one of the common challenges experienced by postgraduate students due to high academic demands, such as thesis completion, scholarly publication requirements, and various other responsibilities. Within the Muslim community, prayer serves as a form of spiritual coping used to deal with such pressures. This study aims to analyze the reception of postgraduate students at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang toward the self-protection prayer narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari No. 6363 as a form of Islamic mindfulness culture in coping with academic burnout. This research employed a qualitative approach using the Living Hadith method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with eleven postgraduate students selected through purposive sampling and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that the participants’ reception encompasses three aspects: acceptance, interpretation, and practice. The prayer was acquired through various transmission channels, particularly Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), religious study circles, and social relationships. Participants interpreted the prayer as a means of self-protection, spiritual strengthening, and guidance in dealing with academic pressures. The prayer was practiced both regularly and situationally when facing academic difficulties. Its practice generated positive psychological effects, including feelings of calmness, reduced anxiety, improved focus, and a stronger sense of tawakkul (trust in God). This study concludes that the prayer narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari No. 6363 represents a form of Living Hadith reception that functions as an Islamic mindfulness practice in helping students manage academic burnout.

Abstract

This article discusses the understanding of Islamic Educational Management from the perspective of the Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Educational management is an essential element in improving the quality of educational systems, particularly within Islamic educational institutions. The Hadiths of the Prophet serve as the second primary source of Islamic law after the Qur'an and provide guidance and principles related to the comprehensive management of education. This study employs a library research method by analyzing various relevant literature sources, including the Qur'an, Hadiths, and books on Islamic educational management. The findings indicate that modern management principles such as POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, and Controlling) are implicitly reflected in the Hadiths of the Prophet long before modern management theories were developed. In Islam, educational management is not only concerned with administrative aspects but also emphasizes spiritual values and noble character as the foundation for managing educational institutions.

Abstract

The internationalization of schools and madrasahs is a strategic issue in Indonesian education policy in the era of globalization. This article aims to examine the concept of school/madrasah internationalization, the educational policies underlying it, its implementation in educational institutions, as well as its impacts and challenges. The method used is library research by analyzing various relevant scientific literature sources. The results of the study indicate that educational internationalization in Indonesia developed as a response to globalization demands, with the RSBI (International Standard School Pilot) program as one of its policy implementations. Although RSBI was discontinued by the Constitutional Court due to creating access inequalities, the spirit of internationalization continues through bilingual learning, technology-based competency development, and international cooperation. Its implementation covers four main aspects: curriculum, learning, human resource development, and school culture. Internationalization has positive impacts in terms of improving educational quality and global competitiveness, but also presents challenges in terms of facility disparities, human resource readiness, and threats to cultural identity and Islamic values. Balanced policies are needed so that internationalization can improve educational quality without eroding national and religious identity.
