Abstract

There are still many students, especially elementary school students, who make mistakes in arithmetic operations of integers. Of course, this must be helped immediately so that students do not experience further difficulties in learning mathematics. To help students correct these mistakes, it is important for teachers to know, not only the causes, but also how students reason during the arithmetic operations. This exploratory research seeks to trace the reasoning of students who have made mistakes in the arithmetic operation. Five students from grade 4 elementary school who made mistakes in an arithmetic operation test were interviewed to explore the causes of mistakes and their reasoning process. It was found that generally the cause of the mistakes was the limited knowledge of the prerequisites for performing arithmetic operations. Nonetheless, some traces of the students' reasoning showed noteworthy creative thinking. Teachers can use this reasoning trail to improve students' reasoning processes in arithmetic operations.

The subject were the 36 students of this research in class VII-C SMP Negeri 2 Sukodono, Sidoarjo 2nd semester of academic year 2021/2022 The success indicator of this research was if there were at least 22 or (60%) students of 36 students could write descriptive English text in accordance with the rubric of descriptive writing. This study was conducted for 3 meetings. In cycle I action the students described a particular animal or plant by using Mapping Picture. In cycle II action students described public places using Mapping Picture too. Qualitative research with data analysis method showed the result that there was an increasing number of students who had reached Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) 75. The pre-cycle scores of the original condition only 10 or (28%) students from 36 students; and first-cycle scores, there were increased scores of 17 or 47% students and the third-cycle’s scores were 25 or (69%) students who got the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) 75. The improvement was 41%. In conclusion, the students’ competence in writing descriptive text were improved by using Mind Map pictures.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of online learning in elementary schools in South Kalimantan which includes planning, implementation, evaluation, and supervision. This research was a descriptive research. The samples of this study were 4 principals, 8 teachers, 180 students in elementary schools in three districts/cities in South Kalimantan. Data collection instruments were documentation and questionnaires and the data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques. The results of research on each component studied were as follows. (1) Planning: the preparation in online learning is carried out by the principal by providing directions to teachers, staff, students and parents so that they can prepare applications for teaching and learning activities and other tools that support online learning. (2) Implementation: school principals monitor teacher performance in face-to-face online learning at schools. The teachers make various assessments in each class, at the end of each material for class III and at the end of the month for class V, while students state that they are ready with applications for online learning. Applications that are often used by teachers are WhatsApp and Google Classroom. (3) Assessment: the principals ask for cooperation of teachers, students and parents. Teachers assess online learning outcomes with multiple-choice tests that are carried out every semester through PTS (Middle Semester Assessment) and PAS (Final Semester Assessment). (4) Supervision: the principals carry out teacher performance evaluations so that the implementation of online learning goes well. If there are obstacles, a solution will be arranged to resolve the problem.

Abstract

This study aims to develop open-ended problem-based Student Worksheets to improve creative thinking skills in a valid mathematics course for junior high school and implementation of field trials using Student Worksheets that are developed effectively with the output of open ended problem-based Student Worksheets. The development procedure uses the model developed by Borg and Gall which consists of 10 stages. However, this study only reached the 5th stage, namely (1) Collecting Research and information, (2) Planning, (3) Developing a preliminary form of product, (4) Testing the preliminary field, and (5) Revising the main product. Student Worksheet (SW) that has been developed has gone through a validation process determined by experts or experts in their fields. The average score given by the validator is 4.60 out of a maximum score of 5. Learning by using an open ended-based Student Worksheet to improve creative thinking skills in mathematics courses for junior high school generates effective learning based on (1) the average grade of class students The experimental class reached more than the KKM, namely 85.79 so that the experimental class was completed classically. (2) the results of student achievement in the experimental class are better than in the control class. The values obtained were 85.79 for the experimental class and 66.93 for the control class. Based on the results of the valid and effective learning tools mentioned above, the development of learning tools achieves the desired results, which are feasible to use.

Abstract

Pedagogic competence is one of the main competencies that must be possessed by a teacher. Having pedagogical abilities will help the professionalism of teachers, so that they become different from other professions. However, it is still a problem when teachers have not mastered these competencies, it can be seen from the number of teachers who have difficulty understanding the characteristics of students or teachers have not been able to arrange meaningful learning activities. So that teaching and learning activities are only limited to presenting learning material. From some of these problems, researchers conducted research on one of the activities aimed at improving the pedagogic competence of teachers. This activity is often called In House Training. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in teacher pedagogic competence through In House Training activities at the Integrated Islamic Elementary School in Sukabumi City. The research method uses descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and field notes presented through discussion descriptions. The results of the study indicate that the existence of In-House Training activities can improve the pedagogic competence of teachers.

Abstract

At the beginning of 2022, the COVID-19 pandemic is still happening. The learning system seems to start to adjust because if it is done online, the results are certainly not optimal. Especially , if it is a practical course such as a speaking skills course. Researchers are interested in researching with the aim of 1) describing cognitive, effective, and psychomotor learning outcomes, 2) describing the implementation of learning, 3) describing the obstacles that occurred and 4) describing the right strategies in learning speaking skills during covid 19 pandemic in PBSI STKIP PGRI (Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, School of Teacher Training and Education of the Teachers' Union of the Republic of Indonesia ) Banjarmasin students. The type of the reasearch is a qualitative of descriptive research. The research subjects are PBSI STKIP PGRI Banjarmasin students who participated in Speaking Skills and the lecturers. Data collection techniques used are through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques were with reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that 1) Cognitive, effective, and psychomotor learning outcomes have improved very well, 2) The implementation of learning was carried out both offline and online in turn every week to reduce crowds, mandatory mask wearing,.The learning methods used are with lectures, questions and answers, exercises, demonstrations, assignments, and field trips. The media used are Power Point Presentation, YT, cameras, and cellphones.4) The obstacles faced when the learning process of speaking skills, especially during online course were students were often constrained by signals and unpreparedness due to environmental factors 4) good strategies used to learn speaking skills are that students must have a lot of practice and practice, the learning process must have dsmostration and practice, the final test must also be practiced. Henceforth, they must have their own You Tube channel and post activities to practice speaking skills.
