Abstract

This study is based on the existence of obstacles, where students have difficulty in recognizing the alphabet. In this case, collaboration between educators and parents is very necessary to overcome this problem, with handling that is adjusted to the causative factors. The purpose of this study is to describe in detail the efforts of teachers in dealing with children who are late in recognizing the alphabet in group B of Pelangi Jekani Kindergarten, Sragen Regency, and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence this delay. This study uses descriptive qualitative research with children in group B as research subjects. The focus of the study is the delay in recognizing the alphabet. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. Data validity testing was carried out using the triangulation method. The results of the study indicate that (1) the efforts of teachers to handle children who are late in recognizing the alphabet in group B of Pelangi Jekani Kindergarten were carried out through several stages, such as learning activities to recognize the alphabet, use of learning media, and private tutoring for children who are experiencing delays. (2) Supporting factors for this effort include providing game media, giving assignments, and consistent motivation. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors are changes in children's habits and parental negligence.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between nutritional status and cognitive development in children aged 3-4 years in Nyawangan Village, Kras District, Kediri Regency. This research is based on the early childhood period as a critical stage for cognitive development, which is highly influenced by nutritional status, while nutritional problems in toddlers remain a challenge in rural areas. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type to gain an in-depth and holistic understanding. Data were collected through qualitative study techniques including participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies involving 9 parents with 3 different nutritional statuses each and 3 community health post (posyandu) cadres. The results of the study showed that children with good nutritional status have more advanced cognitive abilities related to language, problem-solving, and concept recognition compared to children with poor nutritional status or at risk of stunting. The findings of this study reveal that nutritional status is not a standalone entity, but is highly influenced by parenting patterns, feeding practices, as well as the socio-economic context and the level of parental knowledge

Abstract

Sexual violence against children is a criminal act that must be addressed and is a deviant activity carried out forcibly by adults on children. This article presents a systematic literature review aimed at examining the effectiveness of using songs to enhance the understanding of sexual violence among children aged 4-6 years. The method used in this study is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The literature was obtained from electronic databases such as Google Scholar; journal articles that match the Population, Issue, Outcome (PIO), children aged 4-6 years, full-text journal manuscripts; and intervention study research articles (RCT, quasi-experimental, pre-post, pilot, RND), qualitative study, quantitative study using songs as a key component for sexual violence prevention, published 2015 – 2025. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analytic (PRISMA) method was used for article selection, and descriptive analytic techniques were used for analysis. A total of 619 articles were considered relevant to the topic, and 10 articles were included based on the inclusion criteria. The study results indicate that the effective use of songs can improve early childhood sexual education understanding. Children can recognize family members, understand the names of body parts, learn how to care for and protect themselves, recognize differences in gender characteristics, and know which body parts others may and may not see and touch. Schools have a very important in providing sexual education to young children. Sexual education in early childhood is an important step in preventing sexual violence and should be implemented using methods appropriate to the child’s development at ages 4–6, namely through songs.

Abstract

Using technology-based learning media in preschool education is crucial for creating a more interactive and meaningful learning experience. However, learning that still uses old methods often leaves children uninvolved, resulting in underdevelopment of higher-order thinking skills. Therefore, it is necessary to use interactive media that can improve the quality of the learning process. This research aims to understand the relationship between the presence of interactive media in the form of Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) and children's thinking skills in group B in in-depth learning at NU Tsamrotul Afkar Kindergarten. A correlational approach based on quantitative methods was applied in this research, involving the entire population of group B students totaling 15 children, where the census technique (total sampling) was chosen as the sampling method. The independent variable was the presence of IFP measured through observation sheets, while the dependent variable was the children's thinking skills measured through tests and teacher observations. Data analysis was carried out using two approaches, namely descriptive and inferential, which included testing data normality, linearity, and calculating Pearson Product Moment correlation. The study findings indicate a very strong and significant correlation between the availability of IFP and the level of children's thinking ability (r = 0.886; p < 0.001), with an R² value of 0.785. This indicates that 78.5% of the variation in children's thinking ability can be explained by the availability of IFP. These findings indicate that the use of interactive media in in-depth learning has a significant relationship in improving children's thinking ability.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of the mini market day program in fostering self-confidence in children aged 5-6 years through hands-on learning experiences. This study adopted a descriptive qualitative framework, with direct observations conducted with 17 students in group B. The data collection technique used in the study was observation, and data reduction techniques were used for analysis. The results indicate that the mini market day program plays a role in fostering children's self-confidence, as evidenced by their ability to speak confidently in public, interact with peers, and make independent decisions. This activity also trains children to express opinions, manage emotions, and consistently complete roles. Thus, mini market day is a contextual learning strategy that contributes to the socio-emotional development of early childhood.

Abstract

Parental involvement in early childhood education is a crucial factor in supporting optimal child development. However, this involvement remains limited and has not been directly integrated into learning activities. Parents generally play only an administrative role, even though they have the potential to be a source of learning through their experience and profession. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Parent Teaching Class Program at Baitusshalihin Kindergarten (TKIT) Banda Aceh. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with five parents as teachers and one teacher as a companion. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. While data analysis used an interactive analysis model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results showed that the program was implemented through planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. Parents taught according to their professional backgrounds using demonstration methods, direct practice, and question and answer sessions, along with concrete media. This program had a positive impact on children's courage, communication skills, and participation, and helped children learn about various professions contextually. In addition, this program strengthened the partnership between schools and families in supporting early childhood learning.
