Abstract

The learning process in the Merdeka Campus curriculum is one of the manifestations of student-centered learning, which is essential. In this curriculum, educators are given the freedom to implement more interactive and collaborative learning, as well as to use a variety of learning resources. The learning process in the Merdeka curriculum can be more flexible, not only face-to-face in the classroom, but also online through e-learning. This study was conducted to discuss learning reviews in accordance with the Merdeka curriculum from various theories. It then describes how problem-based learning (PBL) is integrated into blended learning in higher education, which is referred to as problem-based blended learning (PB2L). The results of the study show that this model is in line with the demands of the Independent Campus curriculum. PB2L combines face-to-face learning with online learning (synchronous and asynchronous) based on problems. This model can develop students' independence in seeking and discovering knowledge through reality and field dynamics, using real problems, utilizing technology, requiring social interaction, collaboration, and self-management to achieve learning outcomes.

Abstract

This quantitative descriptive study aims to analyze the cognitive learning profiles of 11th grade science students at MA Dakwah Islamiyh Pondok Pesantren Nurul Hakim based on Bloom's Taxonomy hierarchy (C1-C6). The research subjects consisted of 27 female students who were tested using an essay test instrument. The results showed that the students' average cognitive score was 89 with a 100% mastery level. However, in-depth analysis revealed a paradox in achievement; students were very dominant at the lower cognitive level (Lower Order Thinking Skills), particularly Remembering (C1) and Applying (C3), but experienced significant difficulties at the levels of Understanding (C2), Analyzing (C4), Evaluating (C5), and Creating (C6). This phenomenon is thought to be influenced by the double cognitive burden of the pesantren curriculum and a strong culture of memorization with minimal conceptual reflection. The study concludes that there is a need to transform the learning model from passive-receptive to active-constructive in order to improve the higher-order thinking skills of santri.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated an abrupt shift to online learning, including its evaluation, presenting both challenges and opportunities for innovation in higher education. This study, originally conducted at Universitas Samawa, explored lecturers' and students' profiles and perceptions of online learning evaluations during the pandemic. Findings revealed that WhatsApp was the most dominant platform (76.7%) due to its ease of use, practicality, and accessibility. However, significant obstacles emerged, primarily unstable internet connectivity, especially for students in rural areas, and suboptimal understanding of online learning materials often due to lecturers merely sharing content without in-depth explanations. While online evaluations were perceived as more objective and capable of fostering creativity and critical thinking, concerns regarding academic integrity due to insufficient supervision were also noted. This paper analyzes these identified constraints, juxtaposing them with potential avenues for innovation in online evaluation practices. It argues that addressing connectivity gaps, enhancing pedagogical design for online content delivery, and implementing robust integrity measures are crucial for developing a more effective, equitable, and sustainable online evaluation system in the post-pandemic era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze differences in students’ creative thinking abilities and academic achievement based on gender through the application of the Guided Discovery Learning model aided by PhET Simulations. The study employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest pre-experimental design combined with a comparative analysis based on gender. The sample consisted of 20 10th-grade science students, including 8 male students and 12 female students. The research instruments comprised a creative thinking ability test and an academic achievement test. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that there were no significant differences between male and female students in creative thinking ability (Sig = 0.251) or academic achievement (Sig = 0.842). These findings indicate that the learning model used has an equal impact on both gender groups, thereby having the potential to create inclusive and gender-neutral learning.

Abstract

Low physics conceptual understanding among students is partly attributed to limited learning media variety, particularly in remote areas with restricted digital infrastructure. This study assessed the feasibility of and student responses to videoscribe-based physics learning media on momentum and impulse. A Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) was employed, limited to the Develop stage. Two expert validators evaluated the media, and a limited trial was conducted with 10 physics education students at a private university in Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, using a Likert scale instrument. The novelty lies in integrating videoscribe hand-drawn animations with momentum and impulse concepts into a single offline-accessible medium an approach unexplored in Indonesian higher education physics. Expert validation yielded an overall feasibility score of 76.44% ("Feasible"), comprising material validation (77.56%) and media validation (75.33%). Student responses reached 87.73% ("Very Good"), with the benefits aspect scoring highest (90.66%), followed by material organization (87.20%) and media presentation (85.33%). The 11.29-point gap between expert and student scores reflects a distinction between technical-academic assessment and perceived learning benefits. These findings indicate that videoscribe-based media holds strong potential as an innovative, accessible physics learning alternative in higher education.

Abstract

The low problem-solving ability of students in momentum and impulse topics remains a critical issue in high school physics education, worsened by the lack of interactive learning media. This study aims to: (1) determine the validity level of a problem-solving-oriented interactive physics e-module; and (2) examine students' responses to the e-module. A Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4-D model was employed, implemented through the Develop stage. Data were collected using expert validation questionnaires and student response questionnaires. The subjects consisted of 10 eleventh-grade Mathematics and Natural Sciences students from a State High School in Sumbawa Regency (2020/2021), selected through purposive sampling. The novelty of this study lies in the explicit integration of Polya's problem-solving indicators into every e-module component, incorporating text, images, animations, simulations, audio, and video within a single digital platform distinguishing it from prior static e-modules. The results showed that: (1) the e-module achieved a validity level in the "very feasible" category at 84.39%; and (2) student responses were categorized as "very good" at 85.16%. Therefore, this interactive physics e-module is suitable as an innovative alternative learning medium.
