Indonesian Journal of Applied Science and Technology (IJAST) adalah wadah publikasi ilmiah yang berfokus pada penyebarluasan hasil penelitian dan pemikiran inovatif di bidang sains terapan, teknologi, dan informasi. Jurnal ini ditujukan bagi mahasiswa, guru, dosen, praktisi, maupun peneliti untuk mendiseminasikan temuan mereka kepada masyarakat ilmiah secara luas. Focus and Scope IJAST menerima naskah dalam bentuk artikel hasil penelitian (original research) maupun artikel tinjauan pustaka (review article) yang mencakup, namun tidak terbatas pada, bidang-bidang berikut: Pendidikan & Sains Dasar: Pendidikan IPA, Matematika, dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA). Teknologi & Rekayasa: Teknik (Sipil, Elektro, Mesin, dll.) dan Teknologi Pangan. Teknologi Informasi: Ilmu Komputer, Sistem Informasi, dan Teknologi Informasi Terapan. Ilmu Hayati & Lingkungan: Pertanian, Peternakan, Perikanan, dan Kelautan. Kesehatan: Keperawatan, Kebidanan, Kesehatan Masyarakat, dan bidang kesehatan terkait lainnya. Peer Review Process Setiap artikel yang dikirimkan ke IJAST akan melalui proses Peer Review. Tim reviewer akan mengevaluasi naskah berdasarkan kualitas metodologi, orisinalitas temuan, dan kontribusinya terhadap perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan. Penulis diwajibkan melakukan registrasi dan mengirimkan artikel secara mandiri melalui sistem OJS jurnal. Open Access Policy IJAST berkomitmen pada prinsip bahwa akses terbuka terhadap hasil penelitian akan mendukung pertukaran pengetahuan global yang lebih besar. Seluruh artikel yang diterima akan dipublikasikan secara Open Access dan tersedia secara bebas untuk dibaca atau diunduh oleh publik di bawah lisensi: Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). Publication Frequency IJAST mulai terbit sejak tahun 2020. Sejak tahun 2022, jurnal ini berkomitmen untuk terbit dua kali dalam setahun (dua edisi per volume) pada periode: Edisi Januari-Juni dan Edisi Juli-Desember.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of research on augmented reality in biology learning at secondary and higher education levels using a bibliometric approach. The data were obtained from relevant scientific publications and analyzed using VOSviewer to identify publication trends, topic mapping (co-occurrence), and author productivity. The results show that the number of publications increased and reached a peak before declining after 2020, indicating a shift from the exploration stage to more specific and in-depth development. The co-occurrence analysis reveals strong relationships among keywords such as teaching, knowledge, implementation, and ability, indicating that the research focuses not only on technology but also on learning processes and learning outcomes. Furthermore, the analysis of author productivity indicates that the research is still distributed and collaborative, with several dominant contributors but not concentrated within a single research group. Overall, the findings suggest that augmented reality has significant potential to improve the quality of biology learning, particularly in enhancing conceptual understanding, engagement, and students’ cognitive abilities.

Abstract

Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are essential 21st-century competencies, particularly in science education which emphasizes critical, analytical, and problem-solving thinking. This study systematically analyzes science education’s role in developing students' HOTS using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology. Fifteen indexed scientific articles published between 2019 and 2025 were selected from Google Scholar and national journals through structured identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion processes. Findings reveal that student-centered models such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Inquiry Learning, and Project-Based Learning effectively enhance HOTS. Additionally, digital media, interactive simulations, and STEM approaches boost student engagement and conceptual understanding. PBL emerged as the most dominant model due to its adaptability across science topics and strong capacity to cultivate problem-solving abilities. However, HOTS implementation remains moderate owing to teacher competency gaps, student readiness, and sub-optimal technology integration. Future research should develop more innovative, technology-integrated learning strategies to optimize HOTS development in science education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how to use science-based digital teaching materials as an educational tool on how to reduce the impact of disasters through monitoring and literature review. Previous research has typically discussed digital media and disaster education separately, leaving gaps in integrating the two into a unified whole. This study aims to fill this gap by analyzing 6 relevant scientific articles, using a qualitative literature review approach that includes content analysis and systematic thematic development.The results indicate that  the use of science-based digital teaching materials successfully improves conceptual understanding, scientific literacy skills, and disaster preparedness. Three key findings were found: media such as simulations and videos facilitate better conceptual understanding because they use images; incorporating examples from the surrounding environment enhances students' awareness and enables them to make better decisions; and the use of digital platforms makes learning more engaging and flexible. However, implementation still faces obstacles due to limited access to technology, teachers' inadequate digital skills, and the limited availability of materials based on local wisdom. Thus, digital teaching materials that apply scientific principles have great potential as effective disaster mitigation educational tools, but require structured and context-appropriate development.
