Abstract

This service activity was carried out in Fadoro Lauru Village with the aim of increasing farmers' knowledge about sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata) cultivation practices. The low productivity and technical skills of farmers were the main reasons for choosing this topic. Implementation methods included counseling, field practice demonstrations, pre-test and post-test. Results showed an increase in farmers' understanding by 35% after the activity, and average land productivity reached 0.835 kg/m². The output of the activity is an increase in the capacity of farmers and a follow-up plan in the form of continued cultivation by farmer groups. These results show that targeted technical education can increase farmers' productivity and self-reliance.

Abstract

Fadoro Lauru Village, Hiliduho District, Nias Regency, has significant agricultural potential, but it has not been optimally utilized for the development of high-value horticultural commodities such as chili peppers (Capsicum annuum L.). A chili cultivation outreach activity conducted by student interns from the Agrotechnology Study Program at Nias University aimed to improve the community's technical knowledge, motivate productive land management, and encourage the adoption of sustainable agricultural innovations. The implementation method consisted of three stages: (1) interactive presentation of chili cultivation materials, (2) participatory discussions to explore farmers' experiences and challenges, and (3) distribution of chili seeds as a direct implementation step. The results of the activity demonstrated high community enthusiasm, increased technical understanding, and readiness to implement chili cultivation practices independently. This activity also strengthened the synergy between students, the village government, and the community as a foundation for sustainable local agricultural development.

Abstract

Agriculture is the economic backbone of the people of Lawelu Village, Ulu Moro'o District, West Nias Regency, but dependence on chemical fertilizers is a serious challenge that threatens the sustainability of production. In response to this, training on making bokasi fertilizer based on local dry leaves has been carried out to increase the capacity of members of the "Smart" Women Farmers Group in processing organic waste into environmentally friendly fertilizer. Using a hands-on, hands-on, hands-on participatory approach (learning by doing), the training actively engages participants in all stages of the process, from leaf picking to fermentation. Evaluation of results showed a significant improvement in the knowledge and skills of the participants, as well as the success of fermentation characterized by quality fertilizer characteristics such as fresh aroma, grayish color, and crumb texture. The practice of producing CO₂ gas every week also accelerates the anaerobic fermentation process. This activity not only provides technical benefits, but also strengthens the understanding of the circular economy and the importance of utilizing local materials such as leaves, coconut water, and black soil in building sustainable agriculture. Overall, this training encourages farmers' independence in producing fertilizers and reducing dependence on chemicals, as well as being an inspiring model for organic farming innovations in other villages that have similar potential.

Abstract

This report aims to understand the psychological dynamics of a 17-year-old female adolescent who has experienced post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of physical and verbal abuse from her parents since childhood. The study was conducted at LPPT Widya Prasthya, Makassar, using a qualitative approach and case study method. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observations, home visits, and psychological assessments using tools such as the DAP, BAUM, HTP, SSCT, WAIS, DASS, and BDI-II. The results indicated that the client was experiencing PTSD characterized by avoidance symptoms, emotional outbursts, hypervigilance, and feelings of worthlessness, which impacted her social and academic functioning. Interventions were conducted over seven sessions using the empty chair technique from the existential-humanistic approach, accompanied by relaxation and psychoeducation for clients and parents. Intervention outcomes showed significant progress, with clients able to recognize and express their emotions, resolve internal conflicts with traumatic figures, and begin building more open relationships with their parents. Protective factors such as family support, adequate intellectual capacity, and access to mental health services also supported the client's recovery. Thus, the client's prognosis is positive.

Abstract

Soil fertility is one of the key factors in determining the success of the agricultural sector, especially in rural areas that rely heavily on agricultural products as the main source of livelihood. This research aims to analyze soil fertility problems and formulate strategies for its recovery in Lawelu Village, Ulu Moro'o Sub-district, Nias Regency. The approach used was descriptive qualitative with the support of quantitative data, through field observations, in-depth interviews, documentation studies, and questionnaire surveys of farmers. The results showed that the decline in soil fertility was caused by excessive use of chemical fertilizers, lack of crop rotation, and lack of sustainable agriculture education. Geographical factors such as high rainfall and steep topography also accelerated soil degradation. Recovery strategies are directed at a holistic approach through the application of organic fertilizers, biochar technology, crop rotation, soil and water conservation, and strengthening the role of local institutions and policies. These findings provide a foundation for the formulation of agricultural policies that are sustainable and contextualized in underdeveloped areas such as Lawelu Village.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out at Sawa Kete Beach, Afulu Village, North Nias Regency, with the aim of raising collective awareness among the community about the importance of environmental cleanliness in the context of sustainable tourism management. The method used was descriptive-qualitative with a participatory approach, directly involving the community in socialization activities, installing information boards, distributing educational leaflets, and conducting joint community service activities. The results of the activity showed an increase in the community's understanding of the principles of waste management based on the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) approach, as well as the emergence of a culture of maintaining cleanliness in the tourist area. Active participation from youth groups, housewives, and village officials serves as an indicator of the success of this collaborative approach. However, challenges such as inadequate waste management infrastructure and the absence of clear local regulations were also identified. Therefore, sustained collaboration between the village government, higher education institutions, and community groups is necessary to strengthen environmental management in tourist destinations. This program makes a tangible contribution to the development of clean, healthy, and competitive tourist villages through education, social action, and sustainable community empowerment.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out with the primary objective of improving digital literacy and the competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Harjosari Village through the implementation of a Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS)-based payment system and business location registration on Google Maps. This digital transformation is expected to address the challenges faced by MSMEs amidst technological developments and increasingly fierce market competition. The activity implementation method includes several stages. First, identification of MSME needs and conditions is carried out through interviews and observations to understand the level of digital literacy and readiness to adopt technology. Second, socialization is provided to introduce the benefits of QRIS and Google Maps, while also building awareness of the importance of a digital presence for businesses. Third, technical training focused on how to create an account, activate QRIS, and register a business location on Google Maps. Fourth, direct mentoring is provided to ensure that MSMEs can apply these new skills independently in their daily business activities. The results of the activity show a significant increase in transaction efficiency, as QRIS enables a fast, secure, and cash-free payment process. Business registration on Google Maps also increases business visibility online, making it easier for potential customers to find business locations and information. Furthermore, business owners' confidence in using digital technology has increased, which in turn expands market opportunities. However, challenges remain, such as resistance from some MSMEs to QRIS transaction fees and limited digital literacy among certain groups. Overall, however, this activity provides concrete evidence that digital transformation through QRIS adoption and optimizing online presence can strengthen MSMEs' position in the digital economy era, while simultaneously opening up opportunities for business sustainability and growth.

Abstract

Abstract. SMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) are a key pillar of Indonesia's economy, playing a significant role in job creation, economic equity, and the growth of the real sector. To help entrepreneurs thrive in facing market challenges, mentoring activities are crucial. One such mentoring activity was conducted for the Piscok Mbak Dea SME, located in Ngotet Village, Rembang District. Throughout her business journey, Mbak Dea encountered several issues, such as a lack of promotion, both online and offline, leading to low brand recognition. Additionally, her business did not have a legal business permit or a business logo as an identity. To address these challenges, a series of mentoring activities were conducted, with the goal of strengthening branding, expanding marketing through social media, and reinforcing the business's legal standing. The strategies implemented included creating a logo, brand, and banner to establish the business identity. To enhance product marketing, training on managing social media accounts was provided, helping Mbak Dea reach a broader audience. Furthermore, assistance was given in obtaining a legitimate business license to ensure the sustainability of the business. As a result of the mentoring activities, the Piscok Mbak Dea business now has a logo, brand, and banner as its identity, a well-organized menu catalog, an active social media presence, and a business license that validates its operations. This mentoring process is expected to serve as a model for developing other SMEs in overcoming market challenges.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to increase the capacity of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa), especially Village Financial Institutions (LKD), in making safe, rational, and sustainable investment decisions in the Serang Regency area. The main problems faced by BUM Desa include limited understanding of investment instruments, risk management, and adequate investment feasibility analysis capabilities. To answer these challenges, this activity was carried out online through a collaboration between the State Financial Polytechnic STAN and the Open University, with a participatory socialization approach. The speakers came from the Directorate General of Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR) of the Ministry of Finance and Bank Rakyat Indonesia Danareksa Sekuritas, who provided practical and strategic insights related to village investment. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' investment literacy, the formation of strategic networks between stakeholders, and a high commitment to the application of knowledge at the village institutional level. The evaluation showed that 92% of participants experienced an increased understanding of investment and risk management concepts, while 90% expressed readiness to apply the knowledge gained in institutional practice. These findings indicate that the digital approach is able to reach rural communities widely and effectively, despite methodological limitations such as the duration of implementation and the lack of direct interaction. Overall, this activity represents an effective model of academic and practical collaboration in supporting people-based economic development at the village level. It is hoped that this activity will be the foundation for the development of a sustainable village investment literacy program, as well as strengthen the role of Village BUM as a driving force for the local economy that is resilient and adaptive to financial market dynamics.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to improve student learning achievement through the implementation of a community-based tutoring program in Klampokarum Village, Lumajang Regency. The program was designed in response to the educational gaps experienced by Elementary School students, particularly those facing academic difficulties. The approach used integrates collaborative learning methods with active community participation, in order to form an inclusive and sustainable education support system. The implementation of the program is carried out through structured guidance sessions that include core subjects, namely Mathematics, Indonesian, and Social Natural Sciences (IPAS). The activity takes place five times a week during the period from April to May 2025. This program involves students from local universities as tutors, as well as community members as facilitators, thus creating synergy between the academic world and the local community. The results of the evaluation showed that 85% of the participants experienced a significant increase in academic achievement and learning motivation. The program also succeeded in creating an interactive learning environment and supporting the active involvement of the community in the educational process. Despite the challenges of limited facilities and access to transportation, the effectiveness of the program was maintained thanks to the commitment and collaboration of the parties involved. This initiative makes a real contribution to equitable access to education in rural areas and strengthens community empowerment through a community-based approach. These findings suggest that educational interventions designed in a participatory and contextual manner have great potential to improve the quality of learning and build a sustainable education ecosystem.
