Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) in Gunung Kijang Village, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands, was implemented with the aim of improving community welfare by assisting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in obtaining business legality. Legality is seen as an important requirement for increasing competitiveness, expanding market access, and ensuring product quality. In the digital age, business legality not only serves as legal protection but also opens up opportunities for wider access to various digital platforms, making it easier for business owners to reach global markets (Nicolas K.P. Adams,2023). This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a narrative method, employing data collection techniques such as field observation, in-depth interviews with MSME actors, and documentation including notes, archives, and activity photos. The research results show that the majority of MSME actors in Gunung Kijang Village do not yet have a Business Identification Number (NIB) or a Home Industry Food Permit (PIRT), which means their participation in the formal market is still very limited. This condition becomes even more challenging when faced with a global market that demands adequate access to information, training, and bookkeeping. However, this KKN program was able to encourage MSME actors to utilize digital technology as a means of promotion and marketing, while also raising awareness of the importance of business legality in business development. Thus, this activity has a sustainable positive impact on community empowerment, particularly in strengthening the position of MSMEs to become more competitive

Abstract

Digital literacy socialization is the focus of this study, with the aim of developing and improving the understanding and sense of responsibility of junior high and high school students at Manbaul Huda in Comok Sinar Jaya Village. This is motivated by the rapid development of technology in Indonesia, which has influenced students' learning patterns and behavior. Digital literacy has become an important requirement for students to have relevant, in-depth skills and be able to use them wisely. Digital literacy encompasses not only the ability to operate technological devices, but also an understanding of media ethics, cyber security, and critical thinking skills in dealing with the rapid flow of information. This outreach program was designed with a participatory approach, where students not only received material but also actively discussed and participated in practical simulations. The material was delivered using simple and easy-to-understand language, accompanied by real-life examples from everyday life so that students could more easily relate it to their experiences. The results of the program show a significant positive impact. Students have become smarter in filtering information spread on the internet, more aware of the potential for personal data leaks, and demonstrate a more ethical attitude when interacting on social media. These behavioral changes indirectly encourage the formation of a healthy and positive digital culture in the school environment. Thus, this program is able to support the creation of a young generation that is not only tech-savvy but also responsible in its use.

Abstract

Reading skills are basic skills that students must master, especially in 5th grade. A structured and consistent literacy program is very influential in improving reading skills. This article discusses the effectiveness of literacy programs with reading, discussion, and action activities implemented at SDN 002 Teluk Bintan. The success of literacy programs greatly depends on collaboration between teachers, principals, and adequate facilities. This collaboration creates an ecosystem conducive to fostering an interest in reading. This community service program implements a collaborative strategy involving discussion and active reading, a method that has been proven to effectively improve reading skills. The purpose of this study is to measure the improvement in students' reading skills after participating in the literacy program. The research method used is an experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 30 fifth-grade elementary school students. The instruments used are reading tests with themes of health, bullying, and social issues to collect data. Data analysis included a comparison of pretest and posttest scores using a t-test. The results showed a significant increase from a pretest average score of 71.6 (classified as fair) to a posttest average score of 86.5 (classified as good). The success of this program is supported by an interactive approach that emphasizes not only reading but also discussion and practical activities related to the material, thereby engaging students more cognitively and emotionally.These findings confirm that effective literacy programs improve reading skills and shape students' critical thinking skills, and can be recommended for literacy programs in other schools.

Abstract

This article discusses the analysis of problems and factors caused by low literacy skills among students, especially in elementary schools. The issue of literacy in Indonesia must be given renewed attention, as literacy greatly influences the growth and development of a generation. Education is very important in a country. Currently, education will become the foundation of a future generation. One of the foundations in question is literacy at an early age. Indonesia can be considered to have a minimal literacy culture. The curriculum plays an important role in ensuring that the learning presented in schools is carried out in a clearer manner.  The research described in this article uses descriptive analysis methods based on qualitative data through interviews and observations. The research was conducted at Elementary School 003 in Mantang Baru Village. The research also involved 2nd and 6th grade elementary school students. The results of the study show that the factors causing low literacy skills among students are: (1) communication and guidance from parents and socioeconomic conditions; (2) the educational background of teachers in elementary schools. Based on these findings, the following recommendations can be made: (1) provision of facilities and infrastructure to support literacy, (2) intensive guidance, especially in reading activities at home, (3) the use of reading learning models in the learning process in elementary schools. Therefore, the conclusion that can be drawn is that literacy from an early age is important to optimize children's growth and development, expand language competence, improve critical thinking skills, and prepare them to face further educational challenges. Education and literacy are the main keys to a child's progress because these children will become great people and be able to compete with other children both domestically and abroad.

Abstract

This community service aims to analyze the strategy for improving livestock feed security through the utilization of cassava leaves as raw material for silage and fermented feed in Sinar Harapan Village. The limitation of green forage during the dry season is a major challenge for farmers, leading to decreased livestock productivity and high production costs. Cassava leaves, which are abundant in this village, have great potential as an alternative feed but are not yet optimally utilized. Using a qualitative descriptive method that involved training and mentoring for 20 farmers, this activity focuses on processing cassava leaves into silage and fermented feed. The results of the community service show that the application of this simple technology is highly effective. Silage and fermented feed from cassava leaves successfully improved the nutritional value, such as crude protein content, and made the feed more digestible. The final products had a fresh aroma and were well-accepted by the livestock, leading to a positive impact on daily weight gain. Economically, the use of this local raw material significantly reduced additional feed costs, thereby strengthening the farmers' self-sufficiency. Strategically, this method allows farmers to store feed for the long term, ensuring year-round feed availability and supporting the sustainability of their livestock businesses.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in the Kota Baru District, Bintan Regency, focusing on enhancing the competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through packaging design innovation and the implementation of digital marketing using social media and online marketplaces. The main challenges faced by MSMEs in this area are limited digital technology use and poor product packaging quality, which restricts marketing efforts to local consumers. The implementation method involved several stages, including socialization, training, application, and evaluation. During the training phase, MSME actors were provided with knowledge and skills in creating logos, labels, and product packaging designs that are attractive and functional, with an emphasis on aesthetics and practicality to capture consumer attention. In addition, MSMEs were trained to utilize social media and e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Tokopedia, Facebook, and Instagram to expand their market reach. The results of this activity showed an increase in MSME actors' understanding and skills in designing safer, more appealing packaging that aligns with market trends, as well as their ability to market products digitally. The application of attractive packaging strategies and digital marketing has proven to be effective in enhancing product appeal, expanding market segmentation, and driving sales growth. Therefore, this program provides a tangible contribution to empowering MSMEs in the Kota Baru District, supporting the development of a sustainable local economy, and opening up broader market opportunities.

Abstract

Nutritious food plays an important role in maintaining health and increasing community productivity. However, protein consumption in Indonesia remains low despite the widespread cultivation of soybeans, the main source of vegetable protein. Tempe, a traditional soybean product, is highly nutritious, easy to produce, and popular among the community. In Hamlet 1 (Mangga Tiga), Cahaya Makmur Village, North Lampung, most residents grow soybeans but still buy tempe from outside the village. This indicates that the harvest has not been optimally utilized, either for consumption or economic purposes. To address this issue, students from the UIN Jurai Siwo Lampung Community Service Program (KKN), Period II Group 8, conducted training on tempeh production. The aim was to improve residents' skills in processing soybeans into nutritious food while also opening up business opportunities. The training lasted 43 days using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, involving the community in the stages of problem identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. A total of 25 participants attended, consisting of housewives, village officials, and local residents. They practiced the entire tempeh-making process, from washing, soaking, boiling, adding yeast, to fermentation. The production results were high-quality tempeh with a white color, firm texture, and distinctive aroma. Participants responded positively, gained new knowledge, and were motivated to make tempeh independently and develop it into a small business. This activity successfully increased the utilization of soybean harvests and demonstrated the potential for food self-sufficiency and economic empowerment in Cahaya Makmur Village.

Abstract

Mapping a business using SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) is not only essential as an initial step before starting a business but also crucial when developing an existing business to ensure its sustainability. MSMEs operating in a competitive market must be able to adapt and respond to market and technological changes. This study was conducted through mentoring and training for MSMEs in Perdana Semarang on implementing SWOT analysis to enhance their competitiveness. The activity aims to provide an understanding of the importance of SWOT analysis for MSMEs and to teach how to map a SWOT matrix for their business. In practice, participants were involved in identifying relevant strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, analyzing these factors, and mapping appropriate strategies. The implementation of adaptation to changes was done by developing products and services, innovating better than competitors, creatively seeking capital, expanding business networks, and gaining support from various parties. SWOT analysis serves as a method to identify and analyze internal and external factors affecting a business, helping businesses prepare for uncertain market conditions.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata, KKN) is a form of student engagement in society that plays a crucial role in bridging academic knowledge with practical needs in the field. This article discusses strategies for empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through KKN activities carried out in Desa Sei Mencirim, Kecamatan Sunggal, Kabupaten Deli Serdang. The empowerment program focuses on two main areas: household product innovation and beauty skill training. In terms of product innovation, students collaborated with the local community to produce the “Beningku” dishwashing soap, which requires minimal capital, involves a simple production process, yet holds significant economic value. The product received a positive response from housewives, as it can be used for personal needs or resold as an additional business opportunity. This approach provides the community with new insights on transforming simple materials into valuable products, while fostering local creativity and innovation. On the other hand, in the service skills domain, a beauty class in collaboration with the Mizzu brand provided makeup training for teenage girls and housewives. The training not only enhanced technical skills in makeup application but also encouraged participants to start local makeup service businesses. This activity promotes entrepreneurship and self-reliance while expanding skills that can be applied in daily life or as an additional source of income. The results indicate a significant increase in knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial motivation among community members. In addition to providing economic benefits through new business opportunities, the KKN activities also strengthened community confidence, participation, and social solidarity. Through a participatory approach, KKN has proven to be an effective strategy in empowering village MSMEs by utilizing local potential and simple innovations, supporting not only economic growth but also enhancing social capacity and community competencies.

Abstract

Adolescence is a very important transitional phase marked by significant physical, psychological, and social changes. These changes are prone to delinquent behavior, especially in today's digital age. Adolescent delinquency is not only in the form of conventional behaviors such as truancy and gang fights as before, but also in digital forms such as cyberbullying, gadget addiction, and social media abuse. This research and community service project aims to understand the definition, causes, impacts, and prevention strategies for juvenile delinquency in the digital age through outreach activities conducted by students participating in the Raja Ali Haji Maritime University's Community Service Program (KKN) at MTs Teluk Sasah. The outreach method involved presenting material and interactive discussions with students. The results of this activity showed an increase in students' understanding and awareness of juvenile delinquency and the need for the family's role in guiding them. The factors that drive juvenile delinquency can be categorized into internal factors (from within the self) and external factors (from the environment). These factors have impacts that include a decline in academic achievement, mental health disorders, and weakened social interaction. These activities have implications for the formation of collective awareness to protect adolescents from the negative influences of the digital age, while optimizing the potential of technology as a means of positive self-development.
