Abstract

The occurrence of short stature in toddlers, commonly referred to as stunting, is one of the main nutritional problems faced by toddlers in Indonesia today. The results of the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI) in 2022 for each province across Indonesia show that Aceh ranks fourth highest in stunting cases with a percentage of 31.2%. The first position is held by the province of West Sulawesi (35.0%), the second by Papua (34.6%), and the third by West Nusa Tenggara (32.7%). The lowest position is held by the province of Bali (8.0%), followed by the second lowest, DKI Jakarta (14.8%). This type of research is quantitative using the Quasi-Experimental design method with a Two-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sampling technique used was total population, consisting of 41 people in the intervention group and 41 people in the control group. The research results show that the average knowledge score about stunting in the intervention group is 28.30 and in the control group is 21.15854. Thus, descriptively, it can be concluded that there is a difference in the average knowledge score about stunting between the intervention group and the control group. The Sig. value of Levene’s Test For Equality of Variances is 0.573 > 0.05, so based on the value in the "Equal variances assumed" table, the Sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.000 < 0.05, meaning the use of scrapbook media in health promotion regarding knowledge about stunting among prospective brides in Kampung Jawa Lama Village, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City in 2024 is declared effective. The use of scrapbook media in health counseling to increase knowledge among prospective brides in preventing stunting in Kampung Jawa Lama Village, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City is declared effective.

Abstract

Breast milk is the best food for babies 0-6 months. Indonesia's exclusive breastfeeding coverage in 2022 was recorded at only 67.96%, down from 69.7% in 2021. The cause of the lack of exclusive breastfeeding is influenced by several factors, one of which is the mother's knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding. One way to increase exclusive breastfeeding is to carry out health promotion through audio-visual media. This study aims to determine the Effect of Exclusive Breastfeeding Education Through Audio-Visual Media on the Knowledge of Third Trimester Pregnant Women at Wangon II Health Center. This study used pre-experimental research, with one group pretest-posttest design evaluation experiment through pretest-postest. The study sample was 35 pregnant women in the third trimester who were given treatment in the form of exclusive breastfeeding socialization with adio-visual media. The results of the experimental group's Wilcoxon test obtained a p value (0.000) ≤ 0.05, this shows that there are differences in knowledge level about exclusive breastfeeding in pregnant women before and after being given educational interventions using audiovisual media.

Abstract

Antioxidants are essential for the body to inhibit or ward off free radicals. Naturally, the body can produce antioxidants, but they can also be obtained from external sources. Interestingly, antioxidants can also be found in plants, one of which is the butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea L.). Compounds contained in butterfly pea flowers, such as flavonoids and phenolics, were macerated with 70% ethanol and ethyl acetate solvents. This study aims to analyze the phytochemical content (flavonoids and phenolics) and evaluate the antioxidant activity of butterfly pea flower extract and their relationship with the PCA (Principal Component Analysis) chemometric method. The total flavonoid content test was carried out with quercetin as a comparator, while the total phenolic content test was carried out with gallic acid as a comparator. Meanwhile, antioxidant activity was carried out using the DPPH method. In this study, the total flavonoid content in the 70% ethanol extract was 4.109 ± 0.027 mg QE/mL, while in the ethyl acetate extract it was 6.616 ± 0.22 mg QE/mL. The total phenolic content produced was 28.276 ± 1.36 mg GAE/mL for the 70% ethanol extract and 31.579 ± 1.59 mg GAE/mL for the ethyl acetate extract, respectively. Meanwhile, the IC50 value for antioxidant activity showed that the ethanol extract had a value of 54.23 ± 2.37 µg/mL, while the ethyl acetate extract had a value of 39.38 ± 3.14 µg/mL. The ethyl acetate extract had higher flavonoid, phenolic, and antioxidant activity than the 70% ethanol extract. Chemometric analysis showed a positive correlation between flavonoids and phenolics in the ethanol solvent. Chemometric analysis showed a relationship between flavonoid and phenolic content in both the ethanol and ethyl acetate solvents and the antioxidant activity of the DPPH method.

Abstract

This study aims to identify hazards and assess occupational health and safety (OHS) risks in the animal feed production process using the HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control) method. The feed industry involves various operational stages that pose significant safety risks to workers, particularly due to exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, and physically demanding tasks. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing field observations and direct interviews with workers across different departments involved in the production line. The findings reveal a wide range of potential hazards at each stage of the feed manufacturing process. These include respiratory risks caused by airborne particles in confined spaces, noise exposure from machinery, musculoskeletal injuries due to repetitive and manual handling of heavy materials, and exposure to hazardous substances such as cleaning agents and chemical additives. Each identified hazard was assessed based on its likelihood of occurrence and severity of impact, resulting in a risk rating that was then used to prioritize necessary control measures. Risk mitigation strategies were proposed according to the hierarchy of controls, starting with elimination and substitution, followed by engineering controls such as improving ventilation and using noise-reducing equipment. Administrative controls like work rotation schedules, safety training, and the development of standard operating procedures were also emphasized. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is recommended as a supplementary measure rather than a primary control. By systematically applying the HIRARC method, this study provides a comprehensive overview of occupational risks in the animal feed industry. The recommended interventions are expected to contribute to a safer working environment, reduce accident rates, and improve the overall well-being and productivity of workers in feed production facilities.
