Abstract

This research aims to determine the role played by parents or guardians of students at Pondok Pinang 01 Pagi State Elementary School (SDN) in supporting and involving themselves in the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum. The active role of parents is considered a factor in the successful implementation of this curriculum. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. Qualitative, descriptive research is a problem formulation that guides research to explore or photograph the social situation that will be studied thoroughly, broadly and in depth. The method used to obtain data is research by distributing questionnaire forms through an approach that allows researchers to collect data from respondents through written questionnaires. The results of the research show that parents are actively involved in supporting their children's learning, both through participation in learning activities at home, support for student project assignments, and through collaboration with teachers. Children who have active support and involvement from parents tend to show improved academic achievement. This support can include helping with homework, providing positive reinforcement, and motivating the child to learn.

Abstract

This study reviews the integration of psycholinguistic principles into the teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL) by synthesizing insights from 25 selected empirical and theoretical articles. Using a systematic literature review approach, the research identifies key cognitive and affective mechanisms that shape how learners process, store, and produce linguistic information in EFL contexts. The findings highlight the importance of working memory, input processing, lexical access, automatization, motivation, and learner anxiety in determining language-learning outcomes. Psycholinguistically informed strategies such as structured input, guided noticing, semantic mapping, spaced repetition, and fluency-building activities are shown to enhance learners’ comprehension, retention, and communicative performance. The review also underscores the growing relevance of technology-based tools that support cognitive processing and provide adaptive learning opportunities. Overall, this study concludes that psycholinguistics offers a strong conceptual foundation for designing effective, learner-centered EFL instruction and recommends more classroom-based research to examine the practical impact of these approaches in diverse educational settings.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between cognitive processes and language production among foreign language learners by analyzing the roles of working memory, attentional control, and self-monitoring in shaping spoken and written performance. Employing a qualitative descriptive design, data were gathered through semi-structured interviews, task-based classroom observations, and analysis of learners’ written outputs. The findings indicate that cognitive mechanisms significantly influence the fluency, accuracy, and complexity of learners’ language production. Learners with stronger working memory capacity demonstrated better ability to integrate information, construct coherent sentences, and maintain linguistic accuracy, while those with limited memory resources tended to rely on simplification strategies and reduced syntactic complexity. Attentional control was found to be crucial in managing competing linguistic demands, especially during spontaneous speech. Additionally, self-monitoring contributed to improved error correction and refinement of ideas, particularly in writing tasks, where learners have more time for cognitive planning compared to spoken communication. Differences between oral and written performance further highlight how task modality interacts with cognitive load. Overall, the study emphasizes that cognitive functioning plays a pivotal role in determining learners’ language output, and suggests that instructional practices aimed at strengthening cognitive skills may enhance communicative competence in foreign language learning contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to find out and understand students' perspectives regarding the impact of syntax courses on their ability to speak English. This is motivated by the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application of syntax in the real world. To answer these problems, this study used a descriptive qualitative case approach to capture the comprehensive picture needed to answer the research questions. The data collection technique used interviews, by interviewing a number of students by asking 3 questions regarding the impact of syntax courses on their English language skills. The research was conducted at one of the Islamic Universities in Medan. The researcher interviewed 10 students who had studied the syntax course. The findings of the interviews are described descriptively. From the 3 questions asked, the results showed that: 1) During studying syntax in one semester, students can improve their knowledge of grammar and basic rules of English sentence structure: motivating them to better understand tree diagrams. 2) The impact of syntax course on students' language skills is the impact on writing, reading, and listening skills but the greatest impact on writing skills. Thus, syntax courses have a very positive impact on students' English language skills, not only in theoretical understanding but also in practical application.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to use matching techniques and language mistake analysis to figure out how accurate Google Translate is, especially when translating text from English to Indonesian. As a source text, one passage from Johann Gottfried Herder's book "Selected Writings on Aesthetics" was used to gather information. After that, Google Translate (GT) changes the info. When you look at GT translation data, you have to explain the matching technique and compare it with tools that measure the amount of translation matching. This way, mistakes in the language can be found and the quality of the GT translation can be judged. The study found that (1) out of the 13 source data, only 4 data (or 31%) are accurate translations, 7 data (or 54%) are less accurate translations, and 2 data (15%) are incorrect translations. right on. This means that the accuracy is only 31%. About half of it is less clear at the same time. Some people are hard to understand. (2) It turns out that GT can do good translations if it only uses literal translation and matching methods. (3) Since GT only uses textual and transposition translation strategies, it might make translations less accurate if more complicated strategies use transposition, modulation, or description together. (3) But if only a modulation technique is needed, GT can't do anything but make wrong translations. It doesn't make sense because it can only use the translation approach. Because it used a direct translation approach, GT failed to translate one case and made a translation that was wrong. In the end, Google Translate can only correctly translate English text into Indonesian when it uses a literal matching approach. This is especially true in this case.

Abstract

Black Swan (2010) is a psychological horror movie that explores themes of ambition, perfectionism, and the psychological toll of obsession in the competitive world of professional ballet. The movie delves into Nina's descent into madness as she strives for artistic perfection, blurring the lines between reality and hallucination. The aim achieved in this analysis includes examining how psychological stress manifests itself, how high-pressure artistic circumstances can distort reality, and how these factors influence the protagonist's spiral toward mental instability. This is qualitative-descriptive research. The researchers follow a four-step process involving data identification, classification, analysis, and concluding. The main data collection comes from Black Swan (2010), focusing on scenes when Nina Sayers experiences mental breakdowns. The researchers collected data from the film itself and several journals, focusing on Nina's mental disorders and applying Freudian concepts to analyze her behavior and personality. The research results show that obsession and strong demands for perfection from herself and others have disturbed Nina's mental instability in Black Swan (2010).

Abstract

This research is motivated by the declining interest in reading in students which results in low knowledge of students. The theoretical foundations used in this research are reading interest theory, digital technology literacy theory, audio visual media theory and folklore theory. The method used is a qualitative approach using descriptive methods through interview techniques. The results of this study indicate that the use of folklore-based audio visual media can increase interest in intensive reading in Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) students from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta. In order for students to be more interested in listening and reading through the use of audio visual media downloaded from the YouTube application. This study aims to provide an in-depth insight into how the application of audiovisual media can affect the intensive reading interest of PBSI students from UIN Jakarta towards folklore, as well as provide a foundation for the improvement of learning strategies in this area.
