Focus and Scope Jurnal Riset Sosial Humaniora dan Pendidikan merupakan wadah publikasi ilmiah yang berfokus pada hasil penelitian, kajian teoritis, dan pemikiran konseptual di bidang Ilmu Sosial, Humaniora, dan Pendidikan. Jurnal ini bertujuan untuk memperluas wawasan akademik, mendorong inovasi penelitian, serta memberikan kontribusi nyata terhadap pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan praktik sosial di Indonesia. 1. Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly influenced the field of education, particularly in transforming learning processes towards the use of digital technology. This study aims to discuss the integration of AI in education, covering basic concepts, opportunities, challenges, and the importance of character education alongside Pancasila values. The method used is a qualitative literature review by analyzing journals and scientific sources related to AI in education. The results indicate that AI can create a more effective, interactive, and flexible learning ecosystem through adaptive systems while supporting students' digital literacy. However, AI utilization also poses serious challenges, such as an increased risk of plagiarism, technological dependence, the digital divide, and reduced social interaction. Therefore, AI must be used wisely and responsibly. Integrating humanistic values, justice, and mutual cooperation is essential so that technology remains a supportive tool without replacing the teacher's strategic role in shaping students' character in the modern era.

Abstract

Emotion regulation is an essential skill that should be developed among elementary school students because it influences the learning process, social interactions, and psychological development. This skill enables students to recognize, understand, and express their emotions appropriately in various situations. However, not all students are able to regulate their emotions effectively, highlighting the need for guidance and counseling services that are appropriate to their developmental stage. One approach that can be implemented is Solution-Focused Brief Counseling (SFBC), which emphasizes individuals' strengths and potential in addressing the challenges they face. This study aimed to investigate the implementation of Solution-Focused Brief Counseling in supporting the emotion regulation of students at SD Margayaja, Cipacing, Ciawi, Tasikmalaya. The study employed a qualitative method involving classroom teachers as informants to describe students' responses following the counseling sessions. Data were collected through classroom observations and teachers' assessments of students' behavioral changes. The findings indicated improvements in students' ability to manage anger, express emotions constructively, build positive social relationships, adapt to school interactions, and collaborate with their peers. Therefore, Solution-Focused Brief Counseling has the potential to serve as a routine intervention and a practical alternative counseling service in elementary schools. Future research is recommended to employ more in-depth qualitative approaches to further examine the effectiveness of this method.

Abstract

Police work is considered a high-pressure profession because police personnel are required to handle social conflicts, unpredictable field situations, and professional demands while carrying out their duties. These conditions make emotion regulation an important ability for police officers to control emotional responses and maintain psychological stability in stressful work situations. This study aims to explore work pressure, emotional responses, and emotion regulation strategies among Central Java Regional Police personnel in dealing with high-pressure work situations. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using purposive sampling techniques. Participants consisted of three active police officers from the Central Java Regional Police. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s data analysis techniques, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that work pressure experienced by police personnel originated not only from conflict situations in the field, but also from administrative demands, work responsibilities, long working hours, and professional expectations. These pressures generated emotional responses such as anxiety, fear, overthinking, emotional exhaustion, and boredom. The study found that emotion regulation strategies were carried out through simple daily activities, including positive thinking, self-affirmation, distraction, exercise, entertainment activities, remembering family, and social support from colleagues and family members. The findings indicate that emotion regulation plays an important role in helping police personnel maintain professionalism, control behavior, and strengthen psychological resilience while carrying out their duties.

Abstract

Basic education in densely populated rural areas is often associated with limited educational opportunities and the persistence of social inequality. However, the interaction between community social capital, student identity formation, and social reproduction within the school environment remains an important issue to be explored. This study aims to examine how these three dimensions operate simultaneously at SDN 1 Kedungwringin, Patikraja District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java. The research employed a qualitative single-case study approach. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with students, homeroom teachers, parents, and community leaders, as well as analysis of school documents from the 2024/2025 academic year. The findings reveal that community social capital, manifested through networks of trust, mutual support, and collective concern for education, significantly contributes to sustaining educational participation, as reflected in a school participation rate of 98 percent and a zero dropout rate. Student identity is predominantly shaped through Islamic values and local cultural achievements, strengthening their sense of belonging and self-confidence. Furthermore, the school performs a dual function by reproducing certain social differences rooted in family economic conditions while simultaneously providing opportunities for social mobility through character education and local wisdom programs. The study implies that rural spatial conditions do not necessarily hinder educational development and that strengthening community social capital is a strategic factor in enhancing the emancipatory role of primary education institutions in promoting equitable educational opportunities and social advancement.

Abstract

Academic procrastination—the habitual tendency to postpone task completion—remains a prevalent challenge among university students, including those in Guidance and Counseling (GC) programs. Beyond its effects on academic outcomes, this behavior also carries significant psychological consequences, a matter of particular concern given that GC students are expected to develop robust self-regulation competencies as future professional counselors. The present study sought to examine in depth how academic procrastination shapes the academic performance of GC students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Tasikmalaya. A total of 16 active students from the 2023, 2024, and 2025 cohorts were recruited through purposive sampling. Employing a descriptive qualitative design, the study gathered data via structured in-depth interviews comprising 10 questions that addressed multiple dimensions of the procrastination experience. Interview transcripts were produced verbatim in digital form and subsequently subjected to thematic analysis through three sequential coding procedures: open, axial, and selective coding. The results indicate that procrastination exerts adverse effects across four principal domains: task quality (87.5% of participants rushed through assignments), academic grades (81.25% reported declining scores), mastery of course content (81.25% experienced diminished understanding), and psychological well-being (93.75% felt anxious as deadlines neared). To counter procrastination, students employed both personal strategies—such as constructing daily schedules and ranking tasks by priority—and peer-based strategies, notably collaborative study sessions. It is anticipated that these findings will inform the design of more systematically structured intervention programs within GC departments.

Abstract

Quality education is influenced by various factors, one of which is the fulfillment of students’ nutritional needs related to learning readiness and concentration. The Free Nutritious Meal Program is a policy aimed at improving students’ nutritional status while supporting the learning process at school. This study aims to analyze students’ perceptions of the Free Nutritious Meal Program and its implications for students’ learning concentration at SMP Negeri 8 Gorontalo. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research informants consisted of students as the main informants, as well as teachers and school administrators as supporting informants selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive model through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that most students had positive perceptions of the program because it helped reduce hunger during lessons, increased enthusiasm for attending classes, and reduced daily expenses. In addition, the program was considered to contribute to improved focus, classroom participation, and learning endurance during school hours. However, several obstacles were still found, including limited menu variety and meal distribution timing that needs improvement. The implications of this study indicate that fulfilling nutritional needs through school programs can be an effective strategy to improve the quality of learning, therefore continuous evaluation is needed to enhance the implementation of the program.

Abstract

Higher education is an important means of improving the quality of human resources, but low-income families often face limitations in ensuring the continuation of their children's studies. This study aims to describe the role of parents in ensuring the continuation of their children's studies at university in low-income families, as well as to identify the driving and inhibiting factors. This study used a qualitative phenomenological approach in Palembon Village, Bojonegoro Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman (1984) based on Biddle and Thomas' role theory. The results show that parents play a role in maintaining the continuation of their children's studies, as evidenced by their persistence in seeking sources of educational funding and providing emotional support. The implementation of this role is supported by the child's motivation, family and environmental support, and educational assistance. Meanwhile, economic limitations, income instability, and internal family conditions are inhibiting factors. These findings indicate that despite facing various obstacles, parents continue to actively support the continuation of their children's education at university.

Abstract

Critical thinking is one of the most important skills needed by Pancasila Education students to face 21st-century challenges. However, teacher-dominated learning methods have hindered students from fully developing these skills. Therefore, this study aims to implement the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in Pancasila Education at SMA Negeri 1 Gorontalo City to improve critical thinking skills. This research uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages based on Kemmis and McTaggart’s model. The subjects were 20 students. Data were collected through observation, tests, documentation, and field notes, then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The results show that the PjBL model significantly improved critical thinking skills, indicated by the increase in students categorized as high-level thinkers from 24% to 92% by Cycle II. In addition, the average learning outcomes increased from 63.84 to 87.00, while classical completeness reached 92%. These findings indicate that PjBL, emphasizing active learning, collaboration, and project completion, is effective in improving both critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. Therefore, PjBL can be recommended as a differentiated instructional strategy to enhance the quality of Pancasila Education in secondary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the experiences of students of the Islamic Educational Guidance and Counseling Program (BKPI) at UIN Salatiga in maintaining the punctuality of the five daily prayers amid the intensity of online gaming activities. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The participants consisted of six students who actively played online games. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the intensity of online gaming influenced the punctuality of prayer performance, particularly for the Asr, Isha, and Fajr prayers. The main factors contributing to delayed prayers were excessive concentration on gameplay, reluctance to leave ongoing matches, and sleep disturbances caused by late-night gaming habits. Nevertheless, the participants demonstrated a strong sense of religious awareness, reflected in feelings of guilt after delaying prayers and efforts to improve their worship practices. The study also found that self-regulation and time management played significant roles in helping students balance online gaming activities and religious obligations. The stronger the students’ self-regulation skills, the greater their ability to maintain prayer punctuality in the midst of rapid digital technological development.
