Journal of Automotive Technology and Education (JATE) adalah jurnal akademik berbasis peer-review yang diterbitkan oleh Departemen Pendidikan Teknik Otomotif, Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). Jurnal ini didedikasikan untuk mewadahi dan mendiseminasikan kajian teoretis maupun riset empiris dalam rumpun ilmu pendidikan vokasi, teknologi terapan, dan teknik otomotif. Fokus dan Ruang Lingkup (Focus and Scope) JATE mempublikasikan naskah penelitian yang berfokus pada tiga pilar utama: 1. Pendidikan Vokasi Otomotif: Mencakup pengembangan kurikulum (termasuk Kurikulum Merdeka di SMK), model dan strategi pembelajaran, instrumen evaluasi/asesmen praktik, efikasi diri dan kompetensi guru, hingga manajemen pendidikan vokasi. 2. Teknologi Terapan Otomotif: Berkaitan dengan inovasi rekayasa otomotif, pengujian performa mesin, efisiensi energi, hingga riset kendaraan masa depan seperti teknologi sepeda motor dan mobil listrik (EV). 3. Teknik dan Manajemen Perbengkelan: Meliputi implementasi Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) di bengkel/laboratorium, budaya kerja industri (seperti 5R), manajemen kualitas perakitan, dan perawatan kendaraan ringan maupun berat. Informasi Penerbitan E-ISSN: 3063-3591 Frekuensi Terbit: Terbit secara berkala dua kali dalam setahun, yaitu pada bulan Januari dan Juli. Bahasa Publikasi: Jurnal ini menerima dan menerbitkan naskah dalam Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Inggris. Akses: Jurnal ini menggunakan sistem Open Access, sehingga seluruh literatur dan hasil penelitian yang dipublikasikan dapat diakses secara terbuka dan gratis oleh publik, peneliti, serta praktisi pendidikan. Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the block system in the Automotive Engineering Expertise Program of SMK Negeri 2 Yogyakarta, in terms of the suitability of learning implementation, learning quality, and identifying obstacles experienced by students during block system learning. This study is a quantitative descriptive research that uses the CIPP (context, input, process, product) model evaluation approach. Data were obtained through observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The respondents were 12 teachers and 194 students in grades X and XI. The research instruments were validated using content validity and face validity by expert judgment, followed by construct validity test with product moment correlation. Instrument reliability was tested using Cronbach's Alpha. The results showed that block system learning in the Merdeka Curriculum was categorized as appropriate with a score of 75.91%. The quality of block system learning, in terms of teacher qualifications, is categorized as very good with a score of 100%, infrastructure facilities are categorized as very good with a score of 86%, learning implementation is categorized as very good with a score of 82.96%, and student learning outcomes achieve an average score above 75. Students experience obstacles which are categorized as quite obstructed with a score of 42.01%, these obstacles come from internal students 59.82%, systems 28.37%, learning media 8.44%, teachers 2.15%, and learning methods 1.23%.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) identify potential hazards in the tire changer work process at the automotive workshop of SMK Ma'arif 1 Wates, and (2) determine risk control measures for occupational accidents occurring during tire changer operations. This study employs the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method, which systematically analyzes each step of the work process. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through direct observation and documentation. The results show that: (1) a total of 20 work steps were identified, involving 58 potential hazards; (2) the most dominant hazards were found in the processes of removing the tire from the rim and installing the new tire; (3) the most common hazard types included mechanical, ergonomic, and physical hazards such as pinching, falling objects, slipping, and injuries due to non-ergonomic postures; (4) the risk analysis produced 88 control recommendations consisting of administrative controls, engineering controls, substitution, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE); and (5) administrative control emerged as the dominant method for reducing risks across all work stages.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to: (1) analyze the partial influence of attitude on the intention to adopt electric motorcycles; (2) examine the partial effect of subjective norms; (3) assess the partial effect of perceived behavioral control; and (4) identify the simultaneous influence of these three variables on the adoption intention of electric motorcycles among students of the Automotive Engineering Education Program at UNY. A quantitative approach with a causal design was employed. The research was conducted in the Automotive Engineering Education Study Program at UNY with active students as the population. Sampling was conducted using a simple random sampling technique. The data collection tool used was a questionnaire. Validity tests for the instrument included content validity, reviewed by experts, and construct validity, analyzed using the product-moment correlation technique. Reliability testing was conducted using Cronbach’s alpha method with SPSS version 25. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression. The results show that: (1) attitude has a significant influence on the intention to adopt electric motorcycles; (2) subjective norms also have a significant influence; (3) perceived behavioral control does not have a significant partial influence; and (4) simultaneously, attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control significantly influence the intention to adopt electric motorcycles. Keywords: adoption intention; attitude; electric motorcycle; perceived behavioral control; subjective norm Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menganalisis pengaruh sikap terhadap niat adopsi sepeda motor listrik secara parsial; (2) menguji pengaruh norma subjektif secara parsial; (3) menilai pengaruh kontrol perilaku yang dirasakan secara parsial; serta (4) mengidentifikasi pengaruh ketiganya secara simultan terhadap niat adopsi sepeda motor listrik pada mahasiswa Pendidikan Teknik Otomotif UNY. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain kausal. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Program Studi Pendidikan Teknik Otomotif UNY dengan populasi mahasiswa aktif. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik simple random sampling. Alat pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket. Uji validitas terhadap instrumen mencakup validitas isi yang ditelaah oleh ahli, serta validitas konstruk yang dianalisis menggunakan teknik korelasi product moment. Reliabilitas diuji dengan metode Cronbach’s alpha menggunakan SPSS versi 25. Analisis data dilakukan dengan regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) sikap berpengaruh signifikan terhadap niat adopsi sepeda motor listrik; (2) norma subjektif juga memiliki pengaruh signifikan; (3) kontrol perilaku yang dirasakan tidak berpengaruh signifikan secara parsial; (4) secara bersama-sama, sikap, norma subjektif, dan kontrol perilaku yang dirasakan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap niat adopsi sepeda motor listrik. Abstract

Abstract Public service is the government responsibility through the state apparatus which is regulated through laws and regulations to meet the community’s needs for goods, services, and administrative services. The service apparatus is required provide optimal service to achieve a high level of user satisfaction. However, empirical conditions in the field still show a gap between the expected service quality and the standards set. This study evaluates the effect of waiting room facilities, parking facilities, and employee responsiveness on community satisfaction at the UPTD Motor Vehicle Testing Bantul Regency. The approach used is quantitative with a causal associative research design. The research population was all service users, with 100 respondents obtained through an incidental sampling technique. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire with a Likert scale (1-5), and the collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, simple linear regression, and multiple linear regression. The analysis results show that the three independent variables have a significant influence, both partially and simultaneously, on community satisfaction. Although the level of community satisfaction with services is quite good, improvements of employee responsiveness, improving service ethics, and optimising supporting facilities are still needed to strengthen service quality at UPTD PKB Bantul. Abstrak Pelayanan publik adalah tanggung jawab pemerintah melalui aparatur negara yang diatur melalui peraturan perundang-undangan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat akan barang, jasa, dan pelayanan administratif. Aparatur pelayanan dituntut untuk mampu menyajikan layanan yang optimal guna mencapai tingkat kepuasan pengguna yang tinggi. Namun demikian, kondisi empiris di lapangan masih menunjukkan adanya ketimpangan antara kualitas layanan yang diharapkan dengan standar yang telah ditetapkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh fasilitas ruang tunggu, fasilitas parkir, dan responsivitas pegawai terhadap kepuasan masyarakat pada UPTD Pengujian Kendaraan Bermotor Kabupaten Bantul. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian asosiatif kausal. Populasi penelitian seluruh pengguna layanan, dengan sampel sebanyak 100 responden yang diperoleh melalui teknik incidental sampling. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa kuesioner dengan skala Likert (1–5), dan data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif, regresi linier sederhana, serta regresi linier berganda. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ketiga variabel independen memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan, baik secara parsial maupun simultan, terhadap kepuasan masyarakat. Walaupun tingkat kepuasan masyarakat terhadap layanan tergolong cukup baik, perbaikan dalam aspek responsivitas pegawai, peningkatan etika pelayanan, serta optimalisasi fasilitas pendukung tetap diperlukan untuk memperkuat kualitas pelayanan di UPTD PKB Bantul.

Abstract

Abstract This study evaluates the implementation of the PKRSI training program at BPVP Surakarta using the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, Product). The research subjects consisted of the program organizers, three instructors, and 32 alumni, with data collected through questionnaires, interviews, documentation, and observation. The instruments were validated through expert judgment, while reliability was tested using Cronbach’s alpha (r = 0.774–0.852). The results show that: (1) Context: The implementation of training has a clear background and legal basis, while the training objectives require improvement; (2) Input: participants’ interest was excellent, motivation was good, instructors’ readiness and competence met the standards, the curriculum followed national standards, and participant selection was applied; (3) Process: participants’ activeness was fairly good, training materials and learning processes were good, and facilities were excellent; (4) Product: participants’ competence improved, training objectives were achieved, graduate employability was good, and the program provided positive benefits for stakeholders. Overall, the PKRSI training was effective, although the training objectives and participant activeness require further enhancement. Abstrak Penelitian ini mengevaluasi pelaksanaan program pelatihan PKRSI di BPVP Surakarta menggunakan model CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product). Subjek penelitian terdiri dari penyelenggara, tiga instruktur, dan 32 alumni, dengan data dikumpulkan melalui angket, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan observasi. Instrumen divalidasi melalui expert judgement, sedangkan reliabilitas diuji dengan alfa Cronbach (r = 0,774–0,852). Hasil menunjukkan: (1) Context: Pelaksanaan pelatihan memiliki latar belakang dan dasar hukum yang jelas, tujuan pelatihan perlu ditingkatkan; (2) Input: minat peserta sangat baik, motivasi baik, kesiapan dan kompetensi instruktur sesuai standar, kurikulum nasional, dan seleksi peserta; (3) Process: keaktifan peserta cukup baik, materi dan pembelajaran baik, sarana-prasarana sangat baik; (4) Product: peningkatan kompetensi peserta, ketercapaian tujuan, keterserapan lulusan baik, dan manfaat positif bagi pihak terkait. Secara keseluruhan, pelatihan PKRSI dinilai efektif, namun aspek tujuan pelatihan dan keaktifan peserta masih memerlukan peningkatan.

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to develop and evaluate the feasibility of a video tutorial learning medium for operating the Krisbow Pro EPBC24 wheel balancer in the Steering, Brake, and Suspension course at the Department of Automotive Engineering Education, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The study was motivated by students' difficulty in understanding the operation of a new wheel balancer and the limited availability of visual learning guides that match actual workshop conditions. This research used a Research and Development approach with the 4D model, consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The product was developed through needs analysis, preparation of learning content, script and storyboard design, video recording in the chassis workshop, video editing, expert validation, revision, and limited dissemination through digital platforms. Product feasibility was assessed by one material expert, one media expert, and 54 students who had completed the Steering, Brake, and Suspension course. Data were collected using four-point Likert scale questionnaires and analyzed descriptively using feasibility percentage scores. The material expert validation obtained a score of 63 out of 68, or 92.65%, while the media expert validation obtained a score of 102 out of 108, or 94.44%. Student responses reached a total score of 3,797 out of 4,320, or 87.89%. All results were categorized as highly feasible. These findings indicate that the wheel balancer video tutorial is feasible as a supplementary medium for workshop practice because it provides clear work procedures, visual guidance, and flexible access for independent learning. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan dan menilai kelayakan media pembelajaran video tutorial penggunaan wheel balancer Krisbow Pro EPBC24 pada mata kuliah Kemudi, Rem, dan Suspensi di Departemen Pendidikan Teknik Otomotif Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh kesulitan mahasiswa dalam memahami prosedur penggunaan alat wheel balancer yang relatif baru dan belum tersedianya panduan visual yang sesuai dengan kondisi bengkel praktik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development dengan model 4D yang meliputi tahap define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Produk dikembangkan melalui analisis kebutuhan, penyusunan materi, pembuatan naskah dan storyboard, pengambilan gambar di bengkel chasis, penyuntingan video, validasi ahli, revisi produk, serta penyebaran terbatas melalui media digital. Kelayakan produk dinilai oleh satu ahli materi, satu ahli media, dan 54 mahasiswa yang telah menempuh mata kuliah Kemudi, Rem, dan Suspensi. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan angket skala Likert empat tingkat dan dianalisis secara deskriptif dalam bentuk persentase kelayakan. Hasil validasi ahli materi memperoleh skor 63 dari 68 atau 92,65%, sedangkan validasi ahli media memperoleh skor 102 dari 108 atau 94,44%. Respons mahasiswa memperoleh skor 3.797 dari 4.320 atau 87,89%. Seluruh hasil penilaian berada pada kategori sangat layak. Temuan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa video tutorial penggunaan wheel balancer layak digunakan sebagai media pendukung praktik karena menyajikan prosedur kerja yang jelas, panduan visual yang mudah dipahami, dan akses fleksibel untuk pembelajaran mandiri.

Abstract

Abstract Item analysis is a process used to evaluate the quality of each test item to ensure that the questions effectively measure participants’ abilities. Based on observations at PT SGMW Motor Indonesia, item analysis for the Level 0 – Apprentice Technician Certification in 2023 had not been implemented, as indicated by the lack of attention to the difficulty level of the test items. This study employed a descriptive method with a quantitative approach, involving certification participants as the research subjects and the Level 0 – Apprentice certification test items as the objects. Data were collected through documentation and analyzed using Microsoft Excel to assess validity, reliability, item difficulty, discrimination index, and distractor effectiveness. The results show that out of 250 items analyzed, 34% (84 items) were rejected, 32% (80 items) required revision, and 34% (86 items) were accepted. These findings highlight the importance of conducting systematic item analysis to ensure the availability of a standardized, valid, and reliable item bank. Implementing such procedures can support more accurate and objective assessment processes in technician certification, ultimately improving the quality of competency measurement. Abstrak Analisis butir soal merupakan proses untuk mengevaluasi kualitas setiap item dalam suatu tes agar mampu mengukur kemampuan peserta secara akurat. Berdasarkan observasi di PT SGMW Motor Indonesia, analisis butir soal pada sertifikasi teknisi Level 0 – Apprentice 2023 belum dilaksanakan, yang terlihat dari minimnya perhatian terhadap tingkat kesulitan soal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, dengan subjek peserta sertifikasi dan objek berupa soal ujian teknisi Level 0 – Apprentice. Data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi dan dianalisis menggunakan Microsoft Excel untuk menilai validitas, reliabilitas, tingkat kesulitan, daya pembeda, serta efektivitas pengecoh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 250 soal yang dikaji, 34% (84 soal) masuk kategori ditolak, 32% (80 soal) perlu direvisi, dan 34% (86 soal) dapat disimpan sebagai soal berkualitas. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya pelaksanaan analisis butir soal secara berkala untuk memastikan tersedianya bank soal yang valid, reliabel, serta sesuai standar evaluasi pembelajaran, sehingga proses sertifikasi mampu menghasilkan pengukuran kompetensi teknisi yang lebih objektif dan tepat sasaran.

Abstract

Abstract The development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the use of practical equipment in the TKRO (Automotive Engineering) competency at SMK Negeri 2 Depok Sleman is the primary focus of this study. In addition, this study aims to evaluate the extent to which the developed SOPs meet feasibility standards for implementation in practical learning activities. The approach employed is the Research and Development (R&D) method using the Four-D (4D) model, which consists of the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. Data collection was conducted using questionnaire instruments, which were then analyzed through quantitative descriptive techniques. The product evaluation involved two types of validators, namely a material expert and a media expert. Furthermore, productive teachers, the head of the TKRO program, and 27 students were involved as users to provide assessments and feedback on the developed SOPs. The final results of the study indicate that three SOPs were successfully developed, namely a computer-based car wheel alignment (spooring) SOP, an SOP for compressor usage, and an SOP for car lift operation. Based on the validation results, the material expert awarded a score of 78 with a percentage of 98%, categorized as “very feasible.” Meanwhile, the media expert gave a score of 58 with a percentage of 73%, categorized as “feasible.” The results of the student trial showed a total score of 1,785 with a percentage of 83%, which is also considered “feasible”. Thus, the developed SOPs are deemed to have met the feasibility criteria and can be used as guidelines for conducting practical activities in the TKR workshop. Abstrak Upaya penyusunan Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP) dalam penggunaan peralatan praktik pada Kompetensi Keahlian TKRO di SMK Negeri 2 Depok Sleman menjadi fokus utama dalam kajian ini. Selain itu, kajian ini juga diarahkan untuk menilai sejauh mana SOP yang dihasilkan memenuhi standar kelayakan untuk dipergunakan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran praktik. Pendekatan yang diterapkan ialah metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model Four-D (4D) yang meliputi tahap pendefinisian, perancangan, pengembangan, hingga penyebarluasan. Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui instrumen angket yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik deskriptif kuantitatif. Penilaian pada produk melibatkan dua jenis validator, yakni ahli materi serta ahli media. Selain itu, guru produktif, kepala program keahlian TKRO, dan 27 peserta didik turut dilibatkan sebagai pengguna untuk memberi penilaian serta masukan pada SOP yang dikembangkan. Hasil akhir penelitian memperlihatkan jika terdapat tiga SOP yang berhasil disusun, yakni SOP pengecekan spooring mobil berbasis komputer, SOP penggunaan kompresor, serta SOP penggunaan car lift. Dari hasil validasi, ahli materi memberi skor 78 dengan persentase 98% yang termasuk kategori sangat layak. Sementara itu, ahli media memberi skor 58 dengan persentase 73% yang masuk dalam kategori layak. Adapun hasil uji coba pada peserta didik memperoleh skor total 1.785 dengan persentase 83% yang juga tergolong layak.Dengan demikian, SOP yang telah dikembangkan dinilai telah memenuhi kriteria kelayakan serta dapat dipergunakan sebagai acuan dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan praktik di bengkel TKR.

Abstract

Abstract This study analyzes the correlation between Artificial Intelligence (AI) use, learning personalization, and student achievement in Automotive Electricity at SMK N 3 Yogyakarta, driven by massive AI adoption and digital dependency risks. This correlational quantitative research utilized a purposive sample of 85 12th-grade Light Automotive Vehicle Engineering (TKRO) students. Data collected via questionnaires and report cards were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed a strong positive correlation between AI use and learning personalization (r = 0,695; Sig. = 0,000), and a moderate positive correlation with learning achievement (r = 0,423; Sig. = 0,000). In conclusion, while AI serves as an effective adaptive cognitive supplement, it cannot substitute the crucial role of hands-on workshop practices in vocational education. Abstrak Penelitian ini menganalisis hubungan penggunaan Artificial Intelligence (AI) dengan personalisasi pembelajaran serta prestasi belajar pada mata pelajaran Kelistrikan Otomotif di SMK N 3 Yogyakarta, didorong oleh masifnya adopsi AI yang memicu risiko ketergantungan digital. Riset kuantitatif korelasional ini menggunakan 85 sampel siswa kelas XII Teknik Kendaraan Ringan Otomotif (TKRO) melalui teknik purposive sampling. Data yang dikumpulkan via kuesioner dan nilai rapor dianalisis menggunakan uji Spearman Rank. Hasilnya, terdapat hubungan positif yang kuat antara penggunaan AI dengan personalisasi pembelajaran (r = 0,695; Sig. = 0,000), serta hubungan positif berkategori sedang dengan prestasi belajar (r = 0,423; Sig. = 0,000). Kesimpulannya, AI efektif sebagai suplemen kognitif yang adaptif, namun tidak dapat mensubstitusi peran krusial praktik bengkel secara langsung pada pendidikan vokasi.
