Abstract

The rapid growth of air transportation highlights the critical importance of airport infrastructure management, especially in supporting facilities such as aviobridges. I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, as Indonesia's primary tourism gateway, requires optimal facility management to enhance passenger comfort and increase airport revenue. This study aims to analyze aviobridge performance in relation to passenger service quality and its contribution to airport income. A descriptive qualitative method was applied through observation, interviews, and documentation focusing on usage frequency, maintenance conditions, and financial contribution of aviobridges. The results show a very high usage frequency with uneven distribution among units, technical disruptions affecting service quality, and maintenance schedules misaligned with flight peak hours. Besides supporting passenger convenience, aviobridges also play a strategic role in boosting airport aeronautical revenues. The findings underline the need to improve aviobridge operational management through unit rotation arrangements, maintenance schedule adjustments, and optimization of commercial functions. Effective aviobridge management has the potential to enhance service quality while sustainably increasing airport revenues.

Abstract

Waste management in higher education institutions is a crucial aspect in the effort to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly campus. As a hub for academic and social activities, the campus of the State Islamic University Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi generates various types of waste from academic activities, laboratory work, daily consumption, student activities, and other related processes. The effectiveness of waste management heavily depends on a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of the waste produced. Students, as the dominant community within the campus environment, also play a significant role in the waste management process. This study aims to analyse the composition, characteristics, and student-based waste management in the environment of the State Islamic University Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. The activity was conducted as part of community service through a participatory approach, involving students in the process of sorting and weighing daily waste over one month. Data was analysed using descriptive quantitative methods to identify the proportions and types of waste. The results of the analysis of waste composition and characteristics indicate that the waste found on campus consists of 64,83% organic waste and 35,17% inorganic waste. Organic waste includes food scraps, leaves, paper, and cardboard, while inorganic waste includes plastic, metal, glass, and e-waste. Furthermore, the research findings emphasise that waste sorting in the campus environment requires active student participation to ensure that the waste management process can be carried out optimally and sustainably in subsequent stages.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the air transportation sector has significantly increased the production of non-hazardous waste in the airside area of airports. This study aims to analyze the non-hazardous waste management system from aircraft operations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to improve aviation safety. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing observation, semi-structured interviews, and field documentation. The findings reveal that non-hazardous waste management remains suboptimal, characterized by the absence of Temporary Storage Sites (TPS), lack of formal Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and weak inter-unit coordination. These conditions potentially cause waste accumulation in active operational areas, increasing the risk of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and compromising flight safety. The study recommends the construction of TPS in compliance with safety standards, establishment of SOPs, implementation of digital control systems, and capacity building through continuous training. The implementation of these strategies is expected to create an orderly, clean operational environment that supports aviation safety at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

Abstract

Dengue fever remains a significant public health concern, necessitating comprehensive prevention strategies, including vector control. This community engagement study explores the implementation of natural mosquito repellent spray production using lemongrass as a strategic approach to mitigate dengue transmission in Lontar Village. The research aims to analyze the impact of this natural repellent on community health, identifying challenges and opportunities associated with its adoption and sustainable production. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study incorporates community surveys, interviews with local residents and health officials, and direct observation during the socialization and production phases. Findings indicate that the provision of natural mosquito repellent significantly enhances community participation in dengue prevention, offering an accessible and environmentally friendly alternative to chemical repellents. Key challenges include initial awareness dissemination regarding the benefits of natural repllents and ensuring consistent home-based production. However, the benefits demonstrate substantial potential for improving local health outcomes, fostering self-reliance in disease prevention, and promoting the use of local resources. The study suggests targeted support mechanisms, including continuous education, hands-on workshops, and simplified production guidelines to maximize the benefits of this natural repellent. These findings contribute to understanding the role of community-based interventions in local health development and provide practical insights for supporting disease prevention efforts in rural contexts. The research highlights the importance of strategic interventions that can empower communities to adopt sustainable health practices.

Abstract

Road layout is a fundamental framework that shapes the long-term development of a city. A road network with high connectivity provides residents with more efficient travel options and better access to public facilities, while low connectivity tends to increase dependence on private vehicles and extend travel distances. This study aims to measure the connectivity of physical road infrastructure in the Aerocity Area of Banjarbaru City, which is designated as a transportation activity center based on Regional Regulation No. 4 of 2024. The method used is quantitative analysis using three indicators: Road Density Index, Beta Connectivity Index, and Gamma Connectivity Index. Road network data in 2025, including road length, number of segments, and number of intersections, was analyzed using ArcMap software. The analysis results show that the connectivity of the Aerocity Area based on travel route choices is classified as good, with an overall Beta Index value of 1.47 (>1). However, the connectivity cannot be said to be perfect, as indicated by the Gamma Index value of 0.49 (<1). The low Gamma Index value is caused by many road segments that form cul-de-sacs (dead ends) so that they have not been optimally developed. It is lead to the recommendation that although the Aerocity Area has a good choice of routes from the Road Density Index, its structural connectivity still needs to be improved by optimizing intersections and avoiding the development of single-access areas.
