Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD) is a public health problem that still frequently occurs in densely populated areas, including Pucang Sewu Village, Surabaya. Low public awareness of prevention and Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) efforts increases the risk of transmission of the disease. This community service activity aims to increase public knowledge and awareness through the innovation of the Jumantik (Juru Pemantau Larvae) Movement in RW 05. The implementation method includes socialization, counseling, and training in larva inspection by involving local Family Empowerment and Welfare (PKK) cadres. The results of the activity show an increase in community participation in larva inspection and the implementation of 3M (Draining, Covering, and Reusing used goods) Plus, which is marked by the formation of independent Jumantik cadres in each Neighborhood Association (RT). These findings indicate that the Jumantik Movement contributes to increasing public awareness of dengue fever prevention and supports the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid technological advancement, social interaction skills play a vital role in shaping students’ character and social competence. The dominance of digital communication has reduced the quality of direct interactions, especially among madrasah students. In Ternate’s cultural context, which values social harmony and togetherness, this decline presents a challenge that requires contextually relevant educational strategies. Sociodrama—an active learning method involving role-play in simulated social scenarios—has proven effective in enhancing students’ social abilities. Responding to this need, the Community Service Team from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Khairun, organized a Sociodrama Training program at MAN 1 Kota Ternate on July 17–18, 2025. The training aimed to improve students’ social interaction skills and was conducted at the university’s partner school. The outcomes are expected to be integrated into regular school learning to strengthen students’ character development and interpersonal competencies in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Electrical energy is a primary need for all levels of society today. In the city of Surabaya, the level of electrical energy demand is increasing. The government, through the State Electricity Company (PLN), continues to strive to meet this need and provide the best service in distributing electrical energy so that it reaches consumers properly and safely. In the community, there is still misuse of electrical energy that can cause fires, wasted electrical power due to technical errors, and the use of substandard electrical materials. This is the basis for providing insight and knowledge to the public about the BENAR electrical installation techniques (Baik, Efektif, Nyaman, Aman, and Rapi) to the community. This community service program was carried out for four days (September 27-30, 2025) starting from a pre-test, presentation of material on the introduction and use of electrical energy, and socialization of the BENAR Electricity Application. Participants also practiced electrical installations using the provided practice modules. From the post-test results, it appears that the level of public understanding and awareness of electrical energy use has increased significantly. With a community of electricity users who have insight and knowledge about electrical energy, disasters caused by the misuse of electrical energy can be reduced and prevented.

Abstract

The Thematic Community Service Program (KKNT) for defending the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) by Group 126 aims to increase the capacity of MSMEs in Pagesangan Village in building a strong visual identity through product branding education. This activity is motivated by the low understanding of MSMEs regarding the importance of visual elements such as logos, colors, typography, and packaging in forming a professional and competitive brand image. The program is implemented through several stages, namely simple financial management training, branding strategies, visual design practices in the form of a professional and competitive brand image, and evaluation of MSME social media. The program evaluation was carried out using the Kirkpatrick model covering four aspects, namely reactions, learning, behavior, and results. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in participants' understanding and skills in applying branding elements consistently, as seen by a post-test score of 100% compared to the variation in scores in the pre-test. This branding education has proven effective in strengthening the competitiveness of MSME products and has become a sustainable SDGs-based empowerment model that is worthy of replication.

Abstract

A small business of bread and cakes has a technical problem which conventional oven that obtained from the public market does not match the needs. Oven has an important role in getting optimal product quality. One important operational parameter of the oven is temperature control. This article aims to describe the application of oven technology with LPG fuel. The application is done with an oven design according to the needs of the small businesses. Tangkring type oven has a relatively cheap price and easy operation and maintenance. On the other hand, there are weaknesses, namely small capacity, short service life, difficult temperature control and large heat losses. Oven modification is done to minimize these weaknesses. The oven wall is made with two-sided galvanized plates where the two plates are filled with glasswool as a heat insulating material so that the heat released through the oven wall is relatively small. Fire regulation is done with the opening of the fuel channel valve. The fuel pipe in the oven chamber uses a 3/8 inch diameter gas pipe which is given a fire pit with 1 mm in diameter. Fire setting is obtained with a fire height of ± 1.5 cm to get a temperature of 100-120oC. With this setting, the oven reaches a temperature of ± 100oC in about 3 minutes. The result shows that this application based on appropriate technology is very suitable for the needs of small businesses.

Abstract

Dependencies on chemical fertilizers and the limited knowledge of organic fertilizer production have become challenges in achieving sustainable agriculture. To address this issue, a community service activity was carried out on May 16, 2025, in Sedati Village, Ngoro District, Mojokerto Regency, involving ten members of a farmer group. In this activity, farmers were trained on how to produce and utilize Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) made from organic waste. The methods used included counseling, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice in making LOF. Participants were taught how to use various materials such as fruits, rejected fish, fermented cassava yeast, palm sugar, eco-enzyme , and coconut water through a closed fermentation process lasting three months. As a result, participants were able to follow each stage effectively and understand the benefits of LOF in improving soil fertility, reducing production costs, and minimizing the use of chemical fertilizers. This initiative had a positive impact by encouraging farmer independence and promoting more environmentally friendly agricultural practices.

Abstract

MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) play an important role in the Indonesian economy, but still face major challenges in terms of product marketing. Limited knowledge of marketing strategies, minimal use of digital technology, and lack of ability to create promotional content are common obstacles experienced by business actors, especially among the productive underprivileged. This community service activity aims to increase the marketing capacity of MSME customers through mentoring by BTPN Syariah facilitators in the Bestee program. The program is implemented in Wonocolo District, Surabaya, with an educational and participatory approach. The methods used include needs assessment, marketing material education, direct practice in making promotional tools, and evaluation of activity results. Participants consisted of 10 customers who were mentored for 4 months through weekly meetings. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of conventional and digital marketing, as well as progress in skills in using social media, product packaging, and promotion management. Facilitators also play an important role in building participants' motivation and self-confidence, thus having a positive impact on their business competitiveness. This activity proves that structured and sustainable mentoring can be a concrete solution in community-based economic empowerment. Therefore, the role of facilitators must continue to be strengthened so that MSMEs can develop sustainably and adaptively to market changes.
