Jati Emas (Jurnal Aplikasi Teknik dan Pengabdian Masyarakat) is a scientific journal published by the Perkumpulan Dosen Indonesia Semesta (DIS), East Java Regional Board, with E-ISSN 2550-0821. The journal is published quarterly, in March, June, September, and December. Jati Emas aims to serve as a publication platform for scholarly works based on applied engineering and community service activities, particularly for early-career lecturers, students, and authors developing their scientific publication skills. The journal emphasizes author mentoring to ensure articles meet scientific standards, novelty, and publication ethics, and implements a published-in-ready system to accelerate the publication process. Its focus and scope include innovation and application of appropriate technologies, solving real community problems through scientific and engineering approaches, implementation of community service programs with direct impacts on community capacity building and welfare improvement, as well as the development of cross-disciplinary applied methods and practical solutions oriented toward social benefits.

Abstract

This training program aimed to enhance data modeling competencies among vocational teachers at SMK Negeri Penerbangan Aceh through intensive one-day MATLAB and Python training. Employing a pre-test/post-test design with 14 participants using 5-point Likert scale instruments, the results demonstrated significant improvements across all measured aspects. Key findings revealed the highest growth in work productivity (28.6% increase from 54.3% to 82.9%) and software mastery (25.7% increase from 42.9% to 68.6%). Cluster analysis identified three developmental patterns: (1) technical competencies (>20%), (2) tool integration (15-20%), and (3) conceptual understanding (<15%). The outcomes validate the effectiveness of hands-on, case-based training approaches while highlighting the need for advanced technical support programs. Practical implications suggest developing tiered training models for vocational teachers to address digital transformation challenges.

Abstract

PT Berkah Anugerah Inti Semesta is a company engaged in the fabrication sector. One of its products is a palm shell conveyor. One of the challenges of the production process faced is production delays that can have an impact on operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the causes of delays in the conveyor production process using the fault tree analysis method. The analysis was carried out during the production process in the workshop area. The results of the analysis showed a delay in the processing time, from three weeks to one month. This was due to problems in the fit-up, full weld, visual cleaning, and machining processes. This study produces recommendations based on the results of the analysis which are expected to reduce the level of delays in the production process.

Abstract

The commodity futures brokerage industry in Indonesia faces serious challenges in building a positive image due to low public financial literacy and rampant cases of illegal investment fraud. This condition has a direct impact on the effectiveness of labor recruitment, as negative perceptions discourage potential applicants from joining the sector. This community service aims to increase public understanding of the legality of futures investment and strengthen the image of the brokerage company PT Victory Internasional Futures to support a more effective recruitment process. The method used is descriptive qualitative through observation and interviews, as well as the implementation of an educational webinar entitled “Peel Through Futures Trading”. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding of futures trading mechanisms, company legality, and available career opportunities. Digital communication strategies through social media, testimonials, and collaboration with educational institutions have also proven effective in attracting qualified applicants and shifting negative public perceptions. Systematic public education and a structured recruitment approach are key to addressing industry stigma and challenges. The results of this activity emphasize the importance of collaboration between financial literacy and employer branding strategies in creating a sustainable and trusted recruitment system.

Abstract

RPK (Rumah Padat Karya) Omah Laundry Prapen is a community based business unit under the Surabaya City Government program that operates in the laundry services sector. RPK Omah Laundry has challenges in human resource management, primarily due to a decline in the number of employees. This community service initiative aims to assist in designing and implementing HR development strategies through needs analysis, performance evaluation, and a participatory approach. The activities involved include field observations, interviews, as well as the development of Standard Operating Procedures/SOP and performance evaluation systems. The results demonstrate that structured HR management strategies, such as work shift rotation, targeted training, and regular performance assessments, can enhance operational efficiency and boost employee motivation.

Abstract

Hotel operational activities have a significant impact on the surrounding environment, both positively and negatively. The main focus of this study is to identify changes in environmental quality and natural resources that occur after the hotel operates, and to assess the potential for environmental sustainability to be maintained. Descriptive analysis methods were used to collect data through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The data obtained were then analyzed to describe the condition of natural resources after the hotel operates. The results of the study indicate that there are significant changes in the quality of clean water, wastewater, and seawater, as well as an increase in noise and generator emissions. However, the presence of the hotel also has a positive impact in the form of increasing the local community's economy through employment opportunities and the tourism sector. The results of the study provide recommendations on the need for planned mitigation efforts through better waste management, improved environmental quality monitoring systems, and collaboration between the hotel and the community in maintaining the sustainability of natural resources. With the right approach, negative impacts can be minimized and environmental sustainability can be maintained in the long term.

Abstract

Advances in information technology have driven the transformation of financial management systems in government agencies through the integration of digital platforms such as the Agency-Level Financial Application System (SAKTI). Although this application has the potential to increase transparency and efficiency, its utilization is still not optimal due to limited technical understanding of users. This activity aims to provide structured socialization and education on the use of the SAKTI application for employees at the Pakpak Bharat Regency Bawaslu Secretariat. This program was implemented for two days through interactive sessions, theoretical presentations, and practical simulations. On the first day, participants discussed the application workflow, while the second day focused on practical exercises involving data input and financial reporting. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding and technical skills. These findings indicate that technical guidance and participatory methods are effective in improving user competence in digital financial management. This initiative contributes to encouraging accountable and transparent governance through strengthening internal financial supervision supported by increasing human resource capacity.

Abstract

pH is one of the indicators that determines the quality of wastewater that can affect the wastewater treatment process. Changes in pH in water greatly affect the physical, chemical, and biological processes of organisms living in it. This study was conducted to analyze the pH quality of water in the PT Coronet Crown Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL), before and after the addition of ultilox waste, with the addition of coagulant as an indicator that can maintain the pH of the water. Monitoring was carried out for one month after the addition of ultilox waste, namely from October 7 to November 7, 2024. The parameters measured included changes in the pH of wastewater from day to day. The pH quality standard used is in accordance with applicable regulations, namely 6-9. The measurement results showed that the pH of wastewater in the IPAL before the addition of ultilox was 7.2, but after the addition of ultilox, the pH changed to 6.5. The data shows that the pH before, during the addition, and after the addition of ultilox waste still meets the quality standards in the range of 6-9.

Abstract

This community service project aimed to provide megathrust disaster mitigation education to elderly women at the Seudati Aisyiyah Elderly Daycare in Banda Aceh, a region highly vulnerable to earthquakes and tsunamis. Elderly participants were targeted due to their limited mobility, cognitive challenges, and higher social vulnerability, requiring a specialized approach to disaster preparedness. The preparation phase included site surveys, scheduling coordination, and development of educational materials tailored to the elderly’s needs. The program involved lectures using visual aids, interactive question-and-answer sessions, and open discussions that encouraged active participation. Evaluation results indicated an increased understanding among participants regarding early warning signs of megathrust earthquakes, simple evacuation procedures, and the importance of mental preparedness. The elderly showed strong enthusiasm during the sessions and actively shared experiences, strengthening solidarity and ownership of the learning process. The findings confirm that disaster mitigation education delivered with an empathetic approach, simple language, and appropriate media effectively enhances the resilience of elderly individuals as active participants in disaster risk reduction. Similar programs are recommended to be conducted regularly with the involvement of families, local health cadres, and communities to systematically strengthen the elderly’s capacity for disaster preparedness and evacuation.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Catering Hangout is a culinary business engaged in catering services and is located in Tanah Baru Village, Beji District, Depok City, West Java. This business began operating in 2018. The main activities carried out include processing food ingredients from raw to ready-to-eat dishes. Increasingly intense competitive conditions require every business actor to be more active in attracting customers in order to expand the market. One of the challenges faced by Catering Hangout is the limited understanding of innovation in business development. Therefore, this community service activity raised the theme of socializing business concepts and strategies using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) approach as an effort to overcome this problem. BMC itself is a management framework used to design business strategies by mapping nine main elements, namely value, distribution, relationships, revenue streams, resources, activities, key partners, and cost structures. In its application to the SME Catering Hangout, the BMC approach is supported by qualitative methods through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and problem-solving to produce a business model design that suits the business conditions. With the socialization of BMC, it is hoped that Catering Hangout can begin to implement the 9 BMC blocks to increase sales and distribution of its products, which will have a significant impact on the company's overall turnover.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and the development of digital technology, an individual's ability to plan and manage finances is crucial to achieving financial well-being. Low financial literacy makes it difficult for people to make the right financial decisions, including choosing the right investment instrument. One of the fastest-growing instruments today is futures trading, which offers the potential for high returns but also comes with great risks. To answer this challenge, digital technology-based educational activities such as webinars effectively improve public investment literacy. This community service activity aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms, potential, and risks of futures trading, and encourage people to be more aware and wise in investing. Through an interactive and accessible educational approach, it is hoped that the community can avoid illegal investments and be able to contribute to creating a healthy and inclusive financial market.
