Abstract

This study aims to identify the development of children's naturalist intelligence after participating in learning activities using Augmented Reality (AR)-based puzzles, and to explain how social values such as cooperation, sharing, and mutual assistance emerge during group activities. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach and was conducted in a kindergarten. Data sources were obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and group discussions with teachers and students. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and the drawing of interpretive conclusions. The results show that the use of AR puzzles improves children's naturalist intelligence, as reflected in their ability to recognize natural objects, distinguish plant and animal types, and show interest in exploring information about the environment. In addition, social values emerged naturally during the activities, where children collaborated on puzzles, took turns, offered assistance, and discussed in groups. The implications of this study confirm that AR-based media not only enriches visual learning experiences but also effectively develops cognitive and social aspects of early childhood. Therefore, teachers can utilize AR as an alternative interactive and collaborative thematic learning media.

Abstract

This study explores the internalization of multicultural education values in two high schools in Gunungsitoli City, namely SMA Negeri 1 and SMA Negeri 3. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research seeks to understand the lived experiences of principals, teachers, and students in applying multicultural values within the school environment. Data were collected through observations, unstructured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model with triangulation for data validity. The findings reveal that the internalization process occurs through habituation, curriculum integration, role modeling by teachers, extracurricular activities, and the establishment of inclusive school culture. The impact is evident in students’ improved tolerance, empathy, and ability to manage conflicts peacefully. Nevertheless, challenges such as stereotypes, limited contextual teaching materials, inconsistent teacher training, and symbolic implementation remain obstacles. This study contributes theoretically to the discourse on multicultural education and provides practical recommendations for schools and policymakers to strengthen inclusive educational spaces that reflect Indonesia’s diversity.

Abstract

Arabic reading (maharotul qira’ah) is an essential skill that often poses a challenge for learners, given the complexity of Arabic vocabulary, phonology, and grammatical structures. The urgency of mastering this skill is exacerbated by various internal and external barriers, such as pronunciation difficulties, lack of motivation, and limited environmental support. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of technology-based maharotul qira’ah learning methods, specifically the use of the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered Wordwall platform. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through error analysis of midterm exam results and observed student performance development until the final semester exam. The results show that the use of Wordwall has a significant positive impact on reducing reading errors and improving student learning outcomes. This platform not only facilitates a more interactive and adaptive learning process but also overcomes various learning barriers. In conclusion, the integration of AI into Arabic reading learning methods can increase the efficiency and effectiveness of mastering maharotul qira’ah. This study recommends further development for widespread implementation in both formal and non-formal educational environments.

Abstract

The high competition between educational institutions encourages madrasas to build a strong school brand image as a strategy to attract and maintain stakeholder satisfaction, especially students and parents. This study aims to analyze the influence of school brand image on student and parent satisfaction in State Madrasah Aliyah (MAN) throughout Pekanbaru City. The method used is quantitative with an associative approach. The sample consisted of 668 respondents (334 students and 334 parents) from MAN 1 and MAN 2, selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using validity (Pearson), reliability (Cronbach's Alpha), normality (Kolmogorov-Smirnov), linearity, homogeneity, Spearman's rho correlation, and coefficient of determination. The results show that perceptions of school brand image are in the category of quite good according to students (M = 81.06) and very good according to parents (M = 95.13). Student satisfaction was quite good (M = 76.98), while parental satisfaction was very high (M = 51.68). There was a significant influence between school brand image on student satisfaction (ρ = 0.662; Sig. = 0.000) and parents (ρ = 0.189; Sig. = 0.000), with contributions of 43.8% and 3.57%, respectively. These findings support the theory of Aaker, Keller, and Zeithaml regarding the role of institutional image in shaping satisfaction. Academically, this study broadens the understanding of brand management in the context of Islamic education, and practically provides input for madrasas in developing service strategies based on stakeholder perceptions.

Abstract

This study examines the application of a humanistic approach in the development of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum in schools as an effort to realize more participatory, reflective, and experience-centered learning of students. The background of this research departs from the global need for religious education that not only conveys doctrine, but also humanizes students according to human values and Islamic teachings. International studies on humanistic religious education show this direction, while research in the Indonesian context is still limited and has not described the implementation of the curriculum comprehensively. This study uses qualitative methods through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis in schools that have implemented humanistic learning, with an interactive analysis process assisted by NVivo software for thematic coding. The findings of the study show a change from a teacher-centered learning pattern to learning that emphasizes dialogue, reflection, learning experiences, and personal interpretation of Islamic values. The humanistic approach is reflected in holistic learning objectives, the selection of contextual materials, learning strategies that involve the active participation of students, and authentic assessments that assess spiritual processes and development. This study concludes that the humanistic approach plays an important role in strengthening the relevance of the PAI curriculum to the needs of today's learners and the dynamics of modern education, although this study has limitations in the scope of location. Further studies are suggested to broaden the research context and assess the long-term impact of humanistic approaches on the spiritual and social development of learners in various educational settings.

Abstract

Islamic education during the Old Order era is a crucial issue in the history of Indonesian education because it developed amidst the country's unstable political dynamics, the ideological struggles of nationalism, Islam, and communism, and the initial efforts to establish a national education system after independence. This topic is relevant to study because Islamic education policies during the 1945–1966 period not only determined the position of madrasahs, religious studies, and Islamic Religious Colleges (PTKI) within the national system, but also laid the foundations that have been influential to this day. This study aims to analyze the politics and policies of Islamic education during the Old Order era by highlighting the influence of national political dynamics, the strategic role of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the process of establishing and developing PTKIs, the regulation of religious studies in the National Education System Law, and the challenges and opportunities faced by Islamic education during that period. This study uses a qualitative, field-study design combined with historical studies. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation studies, and literature reviews of archives, regulations, and institutional records. Then, they were analyzed interactively and thematically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions using source and method triangulation. The results of this study indicate that Islamic education policy during the Old Order era was heavily influenced by the country's political configuration and tended to be compromising. The Ministry of Religious Affairs proved to be a key actor in maintaining the existence of madrasahs, expanding religious instruction in public schools, and building the foundation of Islamic higher education through PTKI (Islamic Higher Education Institutions). This study also found that the regulation of religious instruction in Law No. 4 of 1950 in conjunction with Law No. 12 of 1954 reflected a form of state accommodation to Islamic aspirations, but did not fully guarantee substantive equality in its implementation. This finding contributes to the study of the politics of Islamic education by demonstrating that the development of Islamic education was the result of negotiations between the state, religion, and society, not merely a pedagogical process. Thus, this study concludes that the Old Order era was a crucial phase that shaped the institutional and political foundations of Islamic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study explores international recognition strategies through increasing scientific publications by lecturers at Islamic boarding schools (pesantren)-based Islamic universities. The focus of this study is on the implementation of policies to support international recognition through scientific publications. Using a case study approach, this research explores qualitative data on institutional strategies in encouraging lecturers to publish articles in reputable journals. The study yields three findings. First, there are policies providing rewards for lecturers who publish their work, especially in Scopus/WoS-indexed journals, waiving publication fees for lecturers who publish articles in all internal journals, strengthening the capacity of journal editors, and preparing for Scopus indexing for Sinta 2-accredited journals. Second, there are punishments for permanent lecturers who do not publish any work for one semester. Third, lecturers face challenges, such as limited resources, motivation, and publishing costs. These obstacles are addressed through publication reward programs, strengthening academic culture, and institutional support oriented towards the vision of a world-class university. Furthermore, lecturers with intrinsic motivation tend to be more successful in the publication process. Institutional strategies include developing individual capacity and improving the professionalism and quality of journal management. In conclusion, a comprehensive approach based on collaboration, incentives, and recognition is key to increasing pesantren-based universities' scientific productivity and competitiveness. This research provides practical guidance for other higher education institutions in developing programs to improve scientific publications.

Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia plays a crucial role in shaping the character of the younger generation, particularly at the elementary school level. As technological developments and globalization influence students' mindsets and behavior, it is crucial to explore innovative ways to instill religious values that can foster noble character. This study aims to analyze the development of a religious program at Az-Zikri Islamic Elementary School in Bone Regency, with the goal of shaping students' character through worship and social ethics. This study employed a descriptive, qualitative case study approach. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews and documentation of religious activities at the school. Data analysis employed the Miles and Huberman model, which encompasses data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Key findings indicate that programs such as congregational prayer, memorization (tahfidz), morning dhikr (recitation of the Quran), and Islamic literacy activities successfully improved students' discipline, independence, and social awareness. Furthermore, these religious activities also contributed to the development of more empathetic, respectful, and inclusive social attitudes. The results of this study provide a significant contribution to religious education, demonstrating that structured worship practices can enhance students' religious and social character.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the qualitative analysis of teacher training at Pesantren-based Junior High Schools to improve education quality. A qualitative research design was employed, focusing on in-depth interviews and observations to assess the training needs, planning, execution, and evaluation processes. The findings reveal that successful teacher training requires clear objectives, integration of pedagogical skills and religious values, and active participation from stakeholders such as school principals, teachers, and students. Effective training also relies on support from management, appropriate training designs, and diverse teaching methods. However, challenges such as time constraints, lack of facilities, resistance to change, and heavy administrative workloads were identified as obstacles in the implementation. To address these challenges, strategic approaches such as flexible scheduling, a structured evaluation system, and continuous feedback are essential for enhancing the effectiveness of teacher training and improving the overall quality of education in Pesantren-based Junior High Schools. These efforts contribute to the integration of Islamic values in the educational process.

Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia, particularly in Islamic schools (madrasahs), faces significant challenges in improving the quality of learning and strengthening the character of students in the era of globalization. One innovation emerging to address this challenge is the Setoran Mutun Thalabil 'Ilmi (Information and Learning) program implemented at the Islamic Senior High School (Islamic Boarding School) PPMI Assalaam. This program combines traditional Islamic boarding school methods with digital technology to improve educational quality. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Setoran Mutun Thalabil 'Ilmi program among female students in the top class at the Islamic Senior High School (Islamic Boarding School) PPMI Assalaam in an effort to improve the quality of madrasah education. The method used in this study was a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies, and analyzed descriptively. The main findings of this study indicate that the Setoran Mutun Thalabil 'Ilmi program has a positive impact on educational quality, both in terms of process and outcomes. The learning process, which combines online and face-to-face methods, improves the discipline, motivation, and independence of female students, while the results are seen in improved Arabic language skills and a deeper understanding of Islam. Significant supporting factors include institutional support, madrasah policies, and the competence of the supervising teachers. The conclusion of this study is that the program successfully integrated Islamic boarding school traditions with modern technology, contributing to improving the quality of madrasah education. This study also suggests that other madrasahs can adopt a similar approach to improve the quality of learning in the digital age. Future research is recommended to examine the program's impact on academic achievement in greater depth quantitatively.
