Abstract

This integration is based on the principles of independence, brotherhood, and welfare, which are the main foundations of Islamic education. This study aims to explain how the integration of Islamic education and economic empowerment is implemented in the da'wah program run by the Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Jati Sampurna Bekasi Branch, oriented towards sustainable development goals (SDGs). In its implementation, da'wah is not only directed at strengthening religious values through religious study groups, regular religious studies, and moral development, but is also synergized with programs to improve the economic welfare of the community. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were obtained through observations of da'wah and empowerment activities and interviews with NU Jati Sampurna Branch administrators, community leaders, and program participants. The results show that this empowerment-based da'wah model is able to strengthen religiosity while encouraging increased economic capacity of the community, in line with SDG targets such as poverty alleviation, improving the quality of education, and community-based inclusive economic development.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a crucial role in shaping students' character, yet motivation to learn in this subject is often suboptimal, especially at the junior high school level. Synergy between teachers and parents in supporting religious learning at school and at home is key to improving student motivation. This study aims to explore how collaboration between teachers and parents can influence students' motivation to learn Islamic Religious Education at SMPN 2 Bungo. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques using the Miles and Huberman analysis model. The results show that intensive and ongoing communication between teachers and parents, both through regular meetings and WhatsApp groups, strengthens parental involvement in supporting students' academic and spiritual development. Furthermore, the application of a contextual approach in Islamic Religious Education learning by teachers increases the relevance of the material to students' lives, encouraging higher learning motivation. These findings provide an important contribution to understanding the importance of synergy between schools and families in religious learning. Implications of this study emphasize the need for policies that encourage parental and teacher involvement in religious education, as well as the use of technology to facilitate effective communication. Further research is recommended to expand the scope and triangulation methods to deepen understanding of this phenomenon.

Abstract

The recruitment of teaching staff in Islamic boarding schools is a phenomenon that has unique characteristics and differs from recruitment practices in general educational institutions. This study aims to examine pesantren-based recruitment management at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid, particularly in integrating academic competence with pesantren values and traditions. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that the recruitment process at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid has a crucial characteristic, namely, it begins with the identification of human resource needs tailored to the activities of the Islamic boarding school, followed by a multi-stage selection process that emphasizes mastery of furudul ainiyah and the Qur'an. The final decision-making process involves the central role of the kiai and pesantren leaders, as well as considering family approval as a form of moral accountability. Recruitment is also integrated with orientation and tiered training programs, such as Student Care Management (MPS), guardianship training, and management training, as a means of internalizing pesantren values. This study confirms that pesantren-based recruitment is a holistic value-based system that functions strategically in maintaining the identity of pesantren while improving the quality of education.

Abstract

In educational institutions, especially in schools, it is very interesting to observe the effectiveness of school community communication when facing hate speech issues and increasing positive synergy in implementing communication strategies. Nowadays, technology has developed very rapidly, making it very easy for negative and positive narratives to spread widely through communication, especially the use of social media. In this observation, the researcher used a qualitative method with a case study approach, collecting data from all elements within the school environment. In the educational context, it is certainly crucial to understand the patterns, programs, and follow-up in the implementation of communication management, so that the collected data can be analyzed in depth. It can be concluded that in communication relationships, all elements of the school community, especially policymakers, can significantly influence the process of disseminating negative and positive information on a massive and sustainable basis. Therefore, it is important to emphasize when stakeholders organize training activities on social media content and digital literacy, and also not forgetting parents, as part of the school community, because it is proven to increase the effectiveness in preventing negative narratives from circulating very quickly. Ultimately, every school must have a guideline to address the challenges facing the school environment by embracing all aspects, thereby addressing the prevention of hate speech and safeguarding the reputation of an educational institution.

Abstract

Good University Governance (GUG) has emerged as a strategic issue in the management of Indonesian State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam Negeri—PTKIN), which operate under a dual mandate as public institutions and as higher education providers grounded in Islamic values. Bureaucratic reform, institutional autonomy, digital transformation of academic services, and increasing demands for public accountability have encouraged PTKIN to adopt contemporary governance principles. Nevertheless, recent scholarly work indicates that the incorporation of Islamic values into GUG practices remains largely normative and symbolic, and has yet to be operationally institutionalized within university governance systems. This study aims to systematically synthesize the development of research on Islamic values–based Good University Governance in PTKIN in Indonesia through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The review follows the PRISMA 2020 protocol and examines peer-reviewed publications from 2020 to 2025 retrieved from Scopus, SINTA, DOAJ, and reputable international academic publishers. A total of 42 articles were analyzed using qualitative thematic synthesis, supported by quality appraisal instruments from the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) and the Joanna Briggs Institute. The synthesis reveals a substantial increase in GUG-related studies on PTKIN, with dominant emphases on transparency, accountability, participation, leadership roles, and information systems. Islamic values—namely amanah, al-‘adālah, mas’uliyyah, and maslahah—are consistently employed as normative justifications; however, they have not yet been reconstructed as institutional logics shaping measurable governance indicators and mechanisms. The literature is also predominantly characterized by descriptive qualitative studies and localized case analyses, resulting in notable conceptual and methodological gaps. This study contributes by proposing a conceptual model of Islamic values–based Good University Governance that integrates normative, structural, and practical dimensions, positioning Islamic values as the institutional logic underpinning governance practices within PTKIN.

Abstract

Student management is a strategic issue in improving school quality because it determines the regularity of student services from admission to graduation. In the context of integrated Islamic schools, the urgency of student management is even higher because schools are not only required to produce academic achievements, but also strengthen religious character development through flagship programs. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of end-to-end student management based on SOPs at SMP IT Daarul Hidayah, specifically the integration of potential screening, tahfidz-qirā’atul kutub programs, and administrative documentation as a service quality control mechanism. The study uses a descriptive, qualitative approach with a case-study strategy; data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation (student SOPs, master books, clapper books, ledger books, and BK records). Data analysis was carried out interactively through data reduction, data presentation, and concluding/verification with triangulation of sources and methods to maintain credibility. The findings indicate that student management is implemented through structured stages of planning, diagnostic-inclusive PPDB, orientation and screening, role organization (Waka Kesiswaan, Homeroom Counselor, BK), character development through class routines and flagship programs, extracurricular/OSIS management as a discipline and leadership instrument, and comprehensive, systematically documented academic-attitude assessments. This system has an impact on increasing the regularity of coaching, trackability of student development data, and strengthening the school's identity through "modern-Salafi" integration. The main obstacle is the foundation's limited budget, but it is addressed through consistent SOPs and external collaboration strategies. In conclusion, SOP-based end-to-end student management is effective as a strategic instrument for aligning student services with the vision of an integrated Islamic school; further research is recommended to conduct multi-case studies and longitudinal tracking to assess the sustainability of the impact on discipline, achievement, and flagship program outcomes.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in aqidah akhlaq instruction at Azanaya Homeschooling and its contribution to the development of students’ critical thinking skills in Islamic education. The study explores how PjBL is implemented, how Islamic theological concepts—particularly rububiyyatullah and mulkiyyatullah are integrated into project activities, and how facilitators and parents support the development of students’ critical thinking. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with facilitators and students, and analysis of instructional documents. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by triangulation and member checking. The findings indicate that project-based learning encourages students to engage in authentic inquiry and reflective learning processes that stimulate key components of critical thinking, including problem analysis, interpretation of Islamic theological principles, ethical evaluation, and reflective inference. Through projects related to environmental responsibility and social ethics, students critically connect the concepts of rububiyyatullah and mulkiyyatullah with their roles as khalifah in everyday life. The collaborative partnership between facilitators and parents further strengthens reflective dialogue and supports the development of critical thinking beyond formal learning settings. This study contributes to the literature on Islamic pedagogy by demonstrating that integrating theological concepts within PjBL can function as an effective framework for cultivating critical thinking in aqidah akhlaq education, particularly within alternative learning environments such as homeschooling.

Abstract

Collaborative learning is seen as an approach that emphasizes not only cognitive aspects but also develops students' affective and social dimensions through interaction, dialogue, and collaboration across perspectives. Through the collaborative process in heterogeneous groups, students not only learn to understand academic material but also learn to appreciate differences, build empathy, and develop mutual respect in the context of religious diversity. This study aims to examine in depth the role of collaborative learning as a strategic tool in fostering religious tolerance among students at As-Syafi'iyah Islamic University. Amidst the social dynamics and diverse religious backgrounds of students, the campus as an intellectual space has a moral and pedagogical responsibility to shape moderate, open, and inclusive characters. This study uses a qualitative, descriptive-analytical research approach. This approach was chosen because it allows researchers to explore in depth the experiences, views, and attitudes of students and lecturers in implementing collaborative learning. The results show that collaborative learning can create a safe, equal dialogue space for students to express their religious views while understanding others' perspectives. Intensive interaction in heterogeneous groups fosters mutual trust, empathy, and openness, ultimately strengthening religious tolerance.
