This research found that competitive advantage can be achieved by adopting market orientation, which involves customer orientation by understanding what customers want and need, competitor orientation by analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of competitors that can be leveraged by the company, and inter-functional coordination to develop strategies based on the gathered information. Marketing capabilities also play a crucial role in shaping competitive advantage. Marketing capabilities can develop and deliver superior value to customers by leveraging existing resources. Competitive advantage, market orientation, and marketing capability play a partial role in enhancing their business performance. Business performance is the goal of every organization. It is considered the core of strategic management, and therefore, most of their efforts are directed towards improving business performance. Companies can pay attention to important factors that can influence business performance. In this study, it was found that by focusing on competitive advantage, market orientation, and marketing capability, companies can enhance their business performance. The theoretical implication in this research is scientific development, while in practice, market orientation is a supporting factor that needs to be considered by MSME actors in order to achieve success.

Abstract

This research discusses the central role of Tuan Guru in the social revolution movement of Sasak people against colonialism in Lombok island in the 19th century. This research was combined research (blended research) in qualitative research and used social movement theory as a collective action that offers change or resistance to bring about new life. The Sasak social revolution movement was motivated by the prolonged commonality of the fate suffered by the annexation of local and global colonialism-imperialism. The central role of Tuan Guru in the social revolution movement of Sasak people in the 19th century in Lombok began with the unification of social stratification between the ruling aristocratic group and the ruling non-aristocratic group, bound by a specific fraternity, the fraternal brotherhood (shufi brotherhood). The religious fraternity which transformed into tarekat communities in Lombok, especially Tarekat Naqsyabandiyah Congregation and Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah reconstructed themselves into a religio-political system in moving social revolution against colonialism which gave birth to rebellions and tyranny which contradicted Islamic doctrine in general and the teaching of tarekat in a religious way special.

Abstract

The provision of non-cash food assistance in Baubau City has faced critical challenges due to mismanagement, resulting in eligible individuals not receiving their entitled benefits and the failure of the assistance program to effectively enhance the community's welfare. These issues can be primarily attributed to poor governance practices. In this study, we aim to investigate the governance of non-cash food assistance in Baubau City, focusing on three key dimensions: accountability, transparency, and community participation. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data was collected through interviews with relevant stakeholders, selected through purposive sampling, as well as observations of beneficiary community groups and an analysis of program documents related to non-cash food assistance. The research findings highlight significant shortcomings in the governance of the program, particularly in terms of accountability, transparency, and community engagement. These issues underscore the urgent need for improved governance practices to ensure that non-cash food assistance effectively contributes to the prosperity and self-sufficiency of the communities it serves.

Abstract

Given the reality of the prevalence of all forms of violence such as but not limited to physical, sexual assault, domestic violence (DV), verbal abuse, harassment, stalking, child marriage, economic deprivation, survival sex in a form of exploitation in exchange for access to subsistence resources and forced prostitution, psychological violence or gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF). Being a victim of violence in communities of learning has lifelong impacts on education, health, and well-being of victims. Exposure to violence can lead to educational under achievement due to cognitive, emotional, and social problems. It is argued that GBV is the most extreme expression of unequal gender relations in society and one of the most widespread violations of human rights. While GBV disproportionally affects women and girls, it also affects men and boys. These abuses take place all over the world in homes, places of worship, schools, workplaces, and communities. This paper provides an overview of factors leading to GBVF, impact and effects on the victim as well as methods to eliminate its occurrence were revealed by the analysis. Becoming aware of factors contributing to GBVF and strategies to address this scourge can minimise the occurrence of GBVF in learning communities. Understanding the concepts and strategies to prevent the occurrence of GBV can assist learning communities to minimise these incidences.

Abstract

Community empowerment is one of the solutions to overcome the problem of poverty in an area. Community empowerment can be carried out by utilizing local potential and developing aspects and social capital. Based on the theory of the poverty circle, several factors cause poverty, including income levels, education levels, and the amount of consumption. Ponorogo Regency is one of the top 10 food support districts in East Java, with progress in the agricultural sector capable of supporting regional food security. However, many underprivileged residents have a poverty rate 2022 of 9.32% of the total population. Based on these facts, this study aims to reveal the relationship between social capital, education level, and income level in Ponorogo Regency. This study uses multiple linear regression analysis with independent variables (Xn), including the level of public education (X1) and human capital (X2), as well as the dependent variable (Y), namely the level of welfare of the people of Ponorogo Regency. The analysis results show that in Ponorogo Regency, there is a correlation between social capital and the level of education and community welfare. The level of social welfare is influenced by education and human capital. The higher the education level and human capital, the higher the social welfare and social capital formed. The development of social capital in networks at the educational level of Ponorogo Regency is very closely related, especially to participation in the religious field. Likewise, the relationship with norms on social capital in which the community has no tendency for a certain level of education related to the desire to implement applicable norms. However, participation in traditional activities has a closer relationship only at the elementary to secondary education level. The analysis results also show that the people of Ponorogo Regency with any income level have a close relationship with all elements of social capital, namely trust, social networks, and norms. Low-income people are associated with an increase in social class.

Abstract

Salang pinjam had been carried out by many Minangkabaunese before the arrival of the Dutch colonialists. The presence of the Dutch colonialists shifted the tradition of salang pinjam into pagang gadai (pawn) as part of the Devide et Impera politics which aimed at breaking up the unity of Minangkabau people. The transition from the concept of salang pinjam to gadai (pawning), apart from not being in accordance with Islamic teachings, also often causes disputes in the communities. Even so, in several Minangkabau areas the tradition of salang pinajm still survives to ensure the continuity of religious-based customs, including in Paninjauan Village, Tanah Datar regency. This study was conducted to describe the concept of salang pinjam and how it differs from the Dutch version of pawning. This research is field research with the data sources obtained from Paninjauan Village’s community leaders and parties who have carried out salang pinjam. The data were collected through direct interviews with informants, then classified according to the questioned-themes. Then, the data were analyzed descriptively. This study concluded that the essence of salang pinjam is borrowing from each other, one party borrows money or gold and the other party borrows land or rice fields. Based on Islamic teachings, this transaction does not violate Islamic rules and will not cause any disputes. This is different from pawnshops regulated by the Dutch Colonial by which borrowing money must be accompanied by collateral in the form of land, and this way becomes a source of problems for two reasons; first, it is contrary to Islamic teachings because it utilizes collateral assets; and second, the collateral must be returned to the borrower after seven years without compensation, and in reality the community is not willing to just return it unless the borrowers must return the money they have borrowed.
