Abstract

Across Nigerian tertiary institutions, Islamic Studies is one of the prominent studies in humanities and social sciences. This is due to its quadratic leanings towards religion, sociology, ethics and anthropology. Despite these extensive leanings however, higher studies in Islam is ignorantly perceived and conceived by a mass Yoruba Nigerians as exclusive training for clerical duties in mosques and Muslim evangelism. This derogatory perception has overtime built inferiority complex in students of Islamic studies in Yoruba region of Nigeria as they query their professional relevance beyond religious evangelism in the society. This paper therefore seeks to measure the preponderance of this trait in Islamic students of Yoruba region of Nigeria and investigate its implications on Islamic pedagogy. The paper uses descriptive research method, adopts questionnaire survey design for data gathering and frequency counts and percentages for analysis. It uses multistage sampling for random selection of respondents cutting across extant tertiary institutions in Yoruba region of Nigeria. The paper submits inferiority complex is often extant in students who were offered Islamic Studies without applying for it and argues lack of career focus, economic relevance of Islamic studies and ignorance of course contents are factors responsible for inferiority complex in Islamic studies undergraduates, and this has affected the efficiency and passion for Islamic pedagogy in Nigerian universities.

Abstract

This paper delves into the contemporary relevance of Prophet Muhammad's teachings on neighborhood (Jar/Jeeran) within the framework of modern international relations. In today's interconnected world, global interactions are shaped by evolving norms and facilitated by advancements in transportation and communication technologies. This has led to the emergence of a global society or "global village," fostering increased people-to-people contact. Against this backdrop, the Islamic principle of Jar, emphasizing moral responsibilities and ethics towards neighbors, warrants analysis. Prophet Muhammad advocated for fostering positive relationships with neighbors regardless of their religious or ethnic background, emphasizing protection and providing financial and food assistance as examples of Islamic ethics. This paper seeks to elucidate the concept of Jar within the context of contemporary international society and explores the application of Islamic ethics towards neighbors in modern international relations.

Abstract

The study emerged from a doctoral thesis aimed at exploring internal security preservation in Namibia, a core mandate of the police force. It provides guidelines for crafting PhD frameworks in alignment with the internal security framework. The guidelines encompass various stages, including extensive literature review, contextualization to specific issues, component selection, assumption definition, framework naming, and acknowledgment of limitations. The paper underscores the importance of a thorough literature review to establish a foundational understanding, enabling critical analysis and substantiating framework development. Practical application and relevance to the research problem are emphasized. Mind mapping is employed to ensure coherence and differentiation from existing models. Naming the framework is deemed crucial, reflecting its primary concept. Acknowledging limitations fosters nuanced understanding and academic transparency. The "Framework for Performing Internal Security" integrates stakeholder collaboration, shared responsibility, and civil stakeholder training, addressing multifaceted challenges in internal security and offering insights for policing and security research.

Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to investigate the planning and implementation process of the MBKM (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka) program in the Sociology Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. The theories utilized to analyze learning management are Total Quality Management (TQM), and constructivism theory is employed to examine the implementation of learning in the context of MBKM. The results of this study indicate that the learning planning process in the MBKM Program at the Sociology Study Prcogram has not been optimally implemented by all parties involved in MBKM implementation. To enhance the quality of education within the MBKM program framework, clear preparation, synergy, regulations, and socialization are needed among the university leadership, faculty, study program, and lecturers as field implementers. Student satisfaction and quality, demonstrated through collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, represent the manifestation of quality education. Therefore, periodic evaluations are necessary to improve the quality of education through the implementation of TQM.

Abstract

Character education has become the main focus in the modern education system as a response to the need to form strong values and virtues among students. Social transformation and technological advances have influenced methods and approaches in character education, demanding continuous adaptation from educational institutions. Diversity in the classroom and the challenges of integrating these values into an already dense curriculum add complexity to the effective implementation of character education. This research aims to explore the methodology, challenges, and effectiveness of implementing character education in the current education system. This research was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods, where data was obtained from analysis of literature relevant to the topic. The data collected is then analyzed in depth to gain a broader understanding of the dynamics and results of character education. The conclusion of this research shows that character education is essential in forming individuals who not only excel academically but also have high moral integrity. Collaboration between teachers, parents, and the wider community has proven vital in strengthening character education. Apart from that, adaptation to social and technological changes is also needed to maintain the relevance and effectiveness of character education. Continuous and adaptive evaluation of character education programs is needed to ensure success in facing emerging challenges. Ultimately, effective integration of character education into the curriculum requires a holistic and inclusive approach to addressing diversity and complexity in the classroom.

Abstract

Specifically, this study examines Yusuf Al-Qaradawi’s notion of religious moderation and its contribution to tolerance and interfaith relations at the Universiti Utara Malaysia. This study explores the concept of moderation in religion in a detailed and thorough literature review. Based on the analysis of Al-Qardhawi's writings and qualitative research designs, this research finds that to create a respectful climate between groups and individuals fully dedicated to their veneration but mentally moderate towards each other who could afford greater coexistence relied on integrating religious moderation in line with educational policy and curriculum implementation. The anticipated benefits of these initiatives include: educating students in the practice of respectful discussion across faith traditions; advancing a climate of greater inclusivity on campus – both academically and socially; and encouraging a more constructive faculty-student engagement concerning the religious diversity among our student body. This study seeks both findings and recommendations by identifying additional steps that institutions may take in areas of governance, policy and student services to embrace the value of religious diversity. Increased interfaith dialogue and enhanced social cohesion among students, faculty, and staff will provide additional benefits to the university community that implementation of these recommendations is anticipated to produce. Qualitative research methods will be designed to identify actionable insights and findings on which we can further promote religious tolerance and inclusivity. The findings would lead to the next steps of making further improvements in religious moderation at educational institutions, to create a more harmonious and respectful academic atmosphere.
