Abstract

This study examines the representation and stereotyping of Sundanese women in the film Before, Now & Then (Nana) by analyzing how its visual and narrative structures portray women as passive, sensual, and socially powerless. The research addresses the gap between the diverse lived experiences of Sundanese women and the simplified portrayals presented in popular cinema. The aim of this study is to identify problematic forms of representation and to analyze the narrative mechanisms that reinforce ethnic and gender stereotypes. The study employs a textual film analysis supported by theories of representation, gender, and ethnicity. The findings reveal that the film reproduces a homogenized image of Sundanese women, positioning them as emotional and sexual objects and situating their bodies at the center of melodramatic conflict. Furthermore, the film’s storyline reinforces a narrative that frames women as sources of moral disruption and social imbalance. In conclusion, the film does not merely offer [mis]representation of Sundanese women, but also sustains patriarchal perspectives that restrict female agency within cultural and cinematic spaces.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the personality structure of the main character in the novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati by Brian Khrisna using Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic approach. The primary focus of this research is to uncover the dynamics of the id, ego, and superego that underlie the character development of Ale. The method employed is descriptive qualitative with content analysis techniques applied to textual data, including narrations and dialogues within the novel. The results indicate that Ale's personality is shaped by the dialectical interaction between these three psychic components. The id represents impulsive drives resulting from trauma, while the ego develops as a reality mediator performing logical calculations, and the superego functions as a moral supervisor internalizing values of politeness and empathy. The study found a significant development in Ale's psychological perception, marked by a transformation from a phase of emotional distress toward positive psychological improvement. This emotional maturity is achieved through the success of the ego and superego in managing destructive impulses, reflecting the character's maturation process in facing internal conflicts and life's realities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form, function, and factors that cause code switching and code mixing in the podcast Curhat Bang Denny Sumargo entitled "Burning Ship of Dead Husband" which features Serly Tjoanda as a resource person. The phenomenon of using two or more languages in digital media such as podcasts shows the social and psychological dynamics of speakers in the context of modern communication. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with the main data source in the form of speech in a podcast video uploaded on the Curhat Bang Denny Sumargo YouTube channel on December 24, 2024. Data was collected through the technique of watching and taking notes, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman interactive analysis model which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the code switching that appears in this podcast is only found to be one type of code switching, namely external code switching, while code mixing includes the form of words, phrases, and clauses. This phenomenon occurs due to various factors, including the social background of the speaker, the context of the conversation, the communication situation, and the influence of global culture. The use of code switching and code mixing in this podcast serves to affirm meaning, strengthen emotional expression, build social closeness, and show the identity and communication style of the speaker. These findings show that the use of code switching and code mixing in digital media is not just a linguistic phenomenon, but also a communication strategy that reflects the social and cultural dynamics of bilingual society in the digital age..

Abstract

The development of digital technology today requires students to have good digital literacy skills so that they can use, evaluate, and utilize information appropriately. However, initial observations indicate that the teaching modules available at UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon are not yet integrated with Deep Learning and artificial intelligence, so students have not maximized the use of digital resources. In this regard, students need innovative, adaptive, and interactive digital-based learning materials/media. The problem of this research is how to develop a Digital Literacy E-Module based on Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence. This research is developed using the 4D R&D model method, which consists of Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate. Meanwhile, research development shows that the product in the form of a Digital Literacy E-Module Based on Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence has met the criteria for content eligibility, presentation, media design, and usefulness as an innovative teaching material/media for students. This e-module combines a deep learning approach with the use of ChatGPT artificial intelligence technology to support more meaningful, reflective, and interactive digital literacy learning. Validation from subject matter experts and media experts indicates that the product is considered "highly feasible" for use.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of phonological errors that appear in the speech practices of elementary school students and to understand the factors that influence these errors. The background of this study is driven by the gap between the expected speaking skills in Indonesia language learning and the fact that many students still experience unclear pronunciation when giving speeches. The research was conducted at a public elementary school in the city of Serang using a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through documentation and observation using the Simak Bebas Libat Cakap (SLBC) technique, which involved recording the oral speech practices of 39 sixth grade students. The recordings were then transcribed using note taking techniques and analyzed by classifying the types of phonological errors in each utterance. The results showed that the most common phonological errors were sound simplification, particularly final sound deletion, assimilation, and monophtongization. In addition, several other forms of changes, such as dissimilation, metathesis, dipthongization, syncope, apocope, and paragoge, also appear although not consistently. These findings show that daily language habits and pressure when performing in public are factors that influence the accuracy of students pronunciation. This study emphasizes the importance of phonological guidance in speech training to minimize pronunciation errors, The learning of speaking skills needs to be designed more comprehensively by emphasizing articulation accuracy through pronunciation models, repetitive exercises, and the use of voice recordings for self-reflection.

Abstract

Textbooks are the primary source of learning in formal education and play an important role in supporting the implementation of the Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka), which emphasizes deep learning. A research gap emerges because studies on regional language textbooks generally focus on content and culture, while the integration of deep learning principles is still rarely examined systematically, even in recent research on regional languages. The purpose of this study is to review the level of alignment of the Sundanese language textbook "Panggelar Basa Sunda pikeun SMA/MA/SMK/MAK Kelas XI" with the principles, processes, and framework of deep learning. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with documentation study techniques on four representative chapters in the textbook published by Erlangga in 2023. The research instrument consists of a checklist based on deep learning indicators covering deep learning principles (conscious, meaningful, and joyful), deep learning processes (understanding, applying, and reflecting), and the deep learning framework (pedagogical practices, learning partnerships, learning environments, and digital technology). Data were analyzed using a dichotomous scale and converted into percentages. The main findings indicate that deep learning principles and processes are implemented very well (100%), while the deep learning framework is in the good category (81.25%), with the main weakness in the learning partnerships aspect, which only reaches 25%. The findings of this study confirm that the Panggelar Basa Sunda textbook has functioned effectively as a facilitator of deep learning in the classroom, but still requires strengthened partnership design with the community so that the integration of deep learning becomes more balanced and contextual.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and represent colonialism contained in Eiichiro Oda’s “One Piece” comic. The author discusses the Arabasta arc in One Piece, which is contained in volumes 18 to 23, using Frantz Fanon’s postcolonial analysis approach. This comic tells the story of a young man named Monkey D. Luffy who becomes a pirate. Whose main goal is to sail the seas in search of the buried treasure of the pirate king. However, the author of this comic does not portray the main character as a typical pirate, but rather as a hero who helps solve problems whenever he comes to an island. Specifically in the Arabasta arc, the main character helps Arabasta kingdom free itself from the shackles of colonialism classifield in several data. The results of this study show that this comic strongly depicts colonialism, especially in the Arabasta arc, with the panels and speech bubbles contained in this comic clearly reflecting the physical and mental suffering of the Arabasta people. This research is expected to contribute to literary studies, particularly comic studies and colonialism studies, as well as expand knowledge about the role of comic in society.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal how romantic elements are constructed in Tulus’s song “Jatuh Suka” through Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis, which examines the layers of meaning at the levels of denotation, connotation, and myth. The study is grounded in the rise of sincere, openly expressed emotions in Indonesian popular culture. At the same time, previous works mostly discuss romance in a general sense, without exploring the linguistic details that shape specific affective experiences. To address this gap, a descriptive qualitative method was applied, using close reading and note-taking techniques to identify linguistic units carrying emotional significance. The findings demonstrate that, at the denotative level, the lyrics depict the initial phase of falling in love through sensory reactions, nervousness, and the desire for closeness. At the connotative level, the lyrics construct romantic values characterized by honesty, vulnerability, and emotional politeness. At the myth stage, the lyrics present a modern romantic ideology that frames natural charm and the courage to express feelings as normal and socially appreciated. These results indicate that popular music functions not merely as entertainment but also as a cultural space where emotional meanings and romantic models are shaped for contemporary young audiences.

Abstract

Folktales serve not only as entertainment but also as a vital medium for recording cultural values and the dynamics of human personality. This research is motivated by the need to uncover how Freud's personality structure is reflected in the folktale characters Puan and Si Taddung. The aim is to analyze the id, ego, and superego in the two main characters and explain their roles in constructing narrative conflict and conveying moral messages. A descriptive qualitative method was employed using content analysis techniques applied to the story text. Data, consisting of the characters' actions, dialogues, and emotional reactions, were collected through in-depth reading, then classified into thematic categories corresponding to the id, ego, and superego. The results demonstrate that Puan is dominated by the work of the ego and superego, evidenced through self-control, adherence to social norms, and moral considerations. In contrast, Si Taddung exhibits id dominance through impulsivity, the pursuit of instant gratification, and disregard for social consequences. The encounter and clash of these three personality structures shape the conflict flow while simultaneously reinforcing the moral message regarding the importance of self-control and responsibility for one's actions. These findings confirm that Freud's psychoanalytic approach is effective in uncovering the complexity of character and interpreting the cultural values internalized in Indonesian folktales. Furthermore, this analysis shows that folktales can be utilized as a dual medium for studying literature and psychology. The application of the concepts of id, ego, and superego helps readers see the relationship between inner drives, rational considerations, and moral judgment.
