Abstract

Women's leadership has been a controversial issue in the contemporary history of several Muslim societies. Meanwhile, in relation to this, some scholars have permitted it as a form of social necessity in a modern context, most Muslim scholars have also refused because of its effect which is considered to be debilitating. Examples of women's leadership in general and as heads of Muslim states can be found in the context of the success of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan, Khalida Zia and Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh, Megawati Sukarnoputri in Indonesia, Atifete Jahjaga in Kosovo, Roza Otunbayeva in Kyrgyzstan, and Mame Madior Boye in Senegal. This issue is debatable because there is no clear direction regarding the leadership of the state and the high position of government which makes the problem divisive and full of conflict. Given the context, there is a need to analyze Muslim leadership in a contemporary context. This paper discusses the concept, brief history, the importance of women's leadership and analyzes the views of Islamic scholars within the scope of contemporary Islamic thought, which are based on the textual arguments of the Qur'an and Sunnah of Muslim scholars. This paper concludes that although a small portion of the entire Muslim spectrum tries to justify allowing women's leadership to develop social, economic and political perspectives, many Muslim scholars view it as a violation of God's commandments and, therefore, strictly preventing the appointment of women as both heads of state. high government officials.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the challenges of the Civil Society Assembly for Peace (CAP) in strengthening civil Society in realizing Peace in southern Thailand. The method used in this research is descriptive-analytic qualitative. This study uses two sources of data, particularly primary data obtained through interviews with informants related to the problem under study and secondary data from documents, books, articles, journals, and other sources to support this research. The results showed that the purpose of the Civil Society Assembly for Peace (CAP) to unite the direction of the struggle of community organizations in realizing Peace in Southern Thailand has led to significant results. This has been proven since it was founded in 2020; as many as 27 civil society organizations have joined the civil society assembly for Peace (CAP). This Organization has received full support from various elements of the minority Muslim community in Southern Thailand. On the other hand, the Thai government considers this Organization a threat that can disrupt national political stability. Various endeavors to confine the movement of this Organization were accomplished by the Thai government in multiple ways, both in the form of physical (arrest) and non-physical actions (limiting cooperation with various organizations outside Thailand).

Abstract

Typology of Islamic Political Thinking: Liberal, Moderate, and Fundamentals. This study will analyze the three models of political thinking, Liberal, moderate, and fundamental. This is done with an analytical descriptive approach. The results of this paper illustrate that the presence of liberal, moderate and fundamental Islamic political thought is unavoidable. This is a consequence of the development of a culture of thought originating from different places and locations. The thinking of liberal Islam wants the absence of limits in understanding normative texts of religion, contrary to the fundamentals that actually want the opposite and are very textual. While moderate Islamic thought seeks to take the midpoint of the differences that occur between liberal Islamic political thought and fundamentals. These three thinking models have their respective weaknesses. Liberal thought has a tendency to minimize the use of text, and the dominance of the use of ratios. Fundamental thinking has a tendency to dominate the use of text, and is often trapped in classical period romance. Whereas moderate thinking takes value from both, so it sometimes collides with liberal and fundamental thinking, and is considered not to have a solid consistency of thought.

The title of this research is the alignment of democracy with Islamic governance practices, especially in terms of participation in decision-making. The purpose of this study is to describe how aspirations are accommodated in the government of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. The purpose of more detail in this study is to see further whether decision-making in the government of the Prophet was in line with democratic principles. This research was conducted using the literature study method using qualitative analysis. The focus of this article is related to the space for conveying aspirations in the practice of decision making in the government of the Prophet Muhammad in Medina. The conclusion obtained from the results of the discussion is that the government of the Prophet Muhammad SAW is capable of aspirations in decision making through the opportunity to express opinions. Democratic values are also present in the process of delivering this opinion. Freedom of opinion is for things that are not determined by revelation. Participatory decision making is done through mushararah (syuro), consultative and initiative.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to explain how the implications of the peace agreement as Israel's strategy in reducing the Hamas intifadah action. The discussion in this study is limited to the peace agreement between Israel and the PLO known as the 1993 Declaration of Principles and the intifadah movement in 1987. This research is a qualitative study with a literature study through books, journals, and articles. This study is based on thinking which explains that as a rational actor, the state in taking foreign policy always calculates the cost and benefit. In its foreign policy, the ruling government uses the "optimization of results" criteria. Or in other words, Israel's foreign policy focuses on emphasizing the country's national interests. This rationale influenced Israel's foreign policy, which was to accept a peace agreement with the PLO to reduce the intifadah movement carried out by Hamas. And this policy provides optimal results for the state of Israel.

Abstract

The emergence of culture currently being acknowledged in political science. It has played an important role in policy making to the development of a region or country.  This paper will focus on how far culture, especially local values, has been interpreted in the decision-making process of foreign policy. Culture and its values and interpretation exists in formal organizations whose members develop a form of shared belief, shared values, and shared knowledge to interpret the reality.
