Abstract

This study aims to analyze the challenges of Hindu Religious Education in the era of digital disruption, particularly related to changes in religiosity and the morality of Hindu youth. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-critical design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The findings show that the development of digital technology has changed the way Hindu youth understand and practice religion through social media and virtual spaces. Digital media has become a new medium for gaining spiritual knowledge and expressing religious identity. However, this condition has also led to symbolic religiosity and moral uncertainty due to visual culture, social imaging, and weak internalization of moral values. Hindu Religious Education faces challenges because learning methods remain conventional and religious digital literacy is still low. This study found that Hindu values such as dharma, tat twam asi, ahimsa, and susila remain relevant in building digital ethics among young people. Therefore, Hindu Religious Education needs to be developed in a contextual, humanistic, and digital literacy-based manner in order to shape a religious and morally grounded young generation in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze participatory leadership in improving the motivation and performance of public sector employees through a literature review approach. The research method uses a literature study with a narrative model through analysis of various scientific journals and relevant sources. The results of the study indicate that participatory leadership plays a significant role in improving motivation, job satisfaction, internal communication, and employee performance through employee involvement in decision-making. However, its effectiveness is influenced by organizational culture, work environment, institutional systems, and employee characteristics. In addition, organizational culture has been shown to contribute significantly to improving the performance of public sector employees. Therefore, the implementation of participatory leadership needs to be supported by a collaborative work culture, open communication, accountability, and sustainable human resource development to improve the quality of public services.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and social media has influenced how Hindu communities practice and express their religiosity. Religious activities that were once primarily spiritual and communal are now increasingly displayed in digital spaces. This study aims to analyze the shift in Hindu Religious Education values in the era of digital existence, particularly the transformation of yadnya practices from spiritual devotion to social image construction. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-critical design. Data were collected through digital observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature review. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that social media has become a new arena for constructing religious identity among Hindus. Yadnya practices, which are rooted in the values of śraddhā, bhakti, and sincerity, have undergone a shift in meaning when displayed on social media that emphasizes visibility and public recognition. The study found a tendency to shift from value internalization to value representation, where religiosity is not only experienced spiritually but also presented as a public identity. Therefore, strengthening religious digital literacy and character education based on Hindu values is necessary to preserve spiritual authenticity amid the growth of digital culture.

Abstract

Environmental care character education is a strategic effort to develop students’ ecological awareness, social responsibility, and environmentally sustainable behavior. This study aims to describe the forms of implementation of environmental care character education among students at SMP Negeri 5 Abiansemal. The study employed a qualitative approach using a single case study design. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 5 Abiansemal, Badung Regency, Bali. The participants consisted of the principal, teachers, the Adiwiyata Program coordinator, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, and were analyzed using an interactive analysis model involving data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the implementation of environmental care character education was carried out through five main forms: (1) habituation of environmental cleanliness through classroom duty schedules and Friday Clean-Up activities; (2) student-based waste management through waste sorting and school waste banks; (3) greening and plant maintenance activities as a medium for internalizing environmental values; (4) collective environmental activities such as river-cleaning programs; and (5) integration of environmental care values into school culture through policies, teacher role modeling, and the Adiwiyata Program. The study indicates that the successful implementation of environmental care character education is supported by the synergy between school culture, a supportive physical environment, active student participation, and the commitment of all school stakeholders. These practices contribute to the development of students’ ecological awareness, responsibility, discipline, and sustainable environmental behavior

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of environmental care character education among students at SMP Negeri 5 Abiansemal through the Adiwiyata Program and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a single case study design. Research participants consisted of the principal, teachers, Adiwiyata program coordinator, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that environmental care character education has been implemented through the integration of environmentally oriented school policies, positive habit formation, participatory activities, environmentally friendly facilities management, and the strengthening of school culture. The Adiwiyata Program serves as the primary instrument for fostering responsibility, discipline, and environmental awareness through waste segregation, classroom cleaning duties, greening activities, plant maintenance, waste bank management, and regular school clean-up programs. The school’s green physical environment, along with the commitment of school leaders, teachers, and active student participation, were identified as the main supporting factors. Conversely, variations in students’ environmental awareness and family background were found to be inhibiting factors. The study concludes that environmental care character education can be effectively developed through sustainable synergy among school policies, organizational culture, contextual learning practices, and the active involvement of all school stakeholders in fostering students’ ecological awareness

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the paradox of Hindu Religious Education values in the lives of contemporary Hindu university students, particularly the gap between visible religious expressions and the internalization of religious values in everyday life. The research employed a qualitative approach within an interpretive-constructivist paradigm using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving Hindu students and relevant supporting informants. Data were analyzed thematically through data reduction, coding, categorization, and inductive interpretation. The findings reveal that Hindu students generally maintain a strong religious identity, reflected in their participation in religious rituals, spiritual activities, and faith-based student organizations. However, strong religious expression does not necessarily correspond to a deep internalization of Hindu religious values. Students continue to face challenges in practicing the values of dharma, morality, and Tri Kaya Parisudha amidst the influences of digital media, changing lifestyles, academic pressures, and contemporary social dynamics. The study indicates that students’ religiosity tends to develop at a symbolic level, while religious value resilience remains insufficiently established. Therefore, Hindu Religious Education should be strengthened through more reflective, contextual, and transformative learning approaches to foster a stronger integration between religious knowledge, spiritual awareness, and practical implementation of religious values in students’ daily lives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Tri Sandhya habituation, its supporting and inhibiting factors, and its implications for strengthening students’ religious character in Hindu Religious Education and Character Education at SMP Negeri 1 Denpasar. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, Hindu Religious Education teachers, and students selected purposively. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Tri Sandhya habituation has been routinely implemented and integrated into the school culture. Its implementation is supported by school commitment, teachers’ role modeling, a religious environment, and active student participation. The inhibiting factors include differences in students’ understanding of the meaning of Tri Sandhya, the influence of digital technology, and the tendency of some students to perform prayers merely as a routine activity. The habituation process positively contributes to strengthening religious character, as reflected in improved discipline, responsibility, self-control, religious awareness, and positive behavior among students. The study concludes that Tri Sandhya habituation is an effective strategy for fostering students’ religious character through consistent and continuous spiritual practices.

Abstract

Digital transformation reshapes Hindu religious practices through social media mediation, affecting ritual representation, religious authority, and believers’ religious experience. This article examines the negotiation of sacredness in Hindu practices in the era of digital disruption through cultural studies and the mediatization of religion framework. Employing a qualitative interpretive–critical paradigm, the study draws on digital ethnography, in-depth interviews, and media content analysis. The findings indicate that sacredness does not erode linearly; rather, it is negotiated through offline–online hybrid practices, curated ritual representations, and the strategic adaptation of religious authorities in digital spaces. Social media functions as a dialogical yet contested arena of religious meaning-making, prompting the reconfiguration of symbolic legitimacy and the fragmentation of authority. Believers’ responses display a spectrum of adaptations shaped by generational factors, digital literacy, and normative orientations. Theoretically, the study affirms sacredness as a symbolic construction negotiated within power relations and media logics. Practically, it underscores the need to strengthen digital religious literacy and develop ethical guidelines for ritual representation to sustain sacred meanings in digital public spaces.
