Setiap naskah yang diterima diseleksi melalui proses penelaahan sejawat (peer-review) untuk menjamin mutu akademik dan kontribusi keilmuan. Jurnal ini terbit dua kali setahun (Mei–Oktober dan November–April), bersifat akses terbuka (open access), dan dikelola oleh Yayasan Pendidikan Literasi Borneo (Nomor AHU-0031523.AH.01.04.Tahun 2025).

Abstract

Perang Obor is an annual tradition in Tegalsambi Village, Tahunan District, Jepara Regency, that holds significant historical, cultural, and local wisdom values. The tradition originates from an oral tale about a conflict between Kiai Babadan and Ki Gemblong, which culminated in the use of torches as weapons, believed to heal livestock and serve as a form of earth-offering ritual. This study aims to explore the origins, ceremonial sequence, and community perspectives of Perang Obor through an ethnohistorical approach combining historical sources, oral narratives, and field observations. The three-day procession begins with ancestral thanksgiving rituals, buffalo sacrifice, wayang kulit performances, communal feasts, and concludes with a symbolic and controlled torch battle. The community perceives it as an expression of gratitude, a means to ward off misfortune, a tribute to ancestors, and a reinforcement of solidarity. Furthermore, the tradition serves as both a cultural identity and a tourism attraction. In conclusion, Perang Obor functions as a cultural heritage that integrates spiritual, social, and economic values while strengthening community unity amid modernization.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum is designed with diverse intracurricular learning, giving students enough time to understand concepts and develop competencies. However, interviews with teachers at SDN Salam Babaris 4 revealed obstacles in its implementation. This study aims to identify the inhibiting factors and solutions for implementing the Merdeka Curriculum at the school. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were obtained through observation and interviews, and analyzed inductively. The obstacles found include a lack of understanding among the principal and teachers regarding the Merdeka Curriculum and differentiated learning, limited time for creative learning, students’ lack of focus during prayer, damaged facilities, incomplete books, no library staff, low understanding of diagnostic assessments, some teachers without teaching certificates, difficulties in teacher guidance at the start of the semester, challenges in adjusting teaching modules to student characteristics, and unfamiliarity with the academic and project report formats. Proposed solutions include teacher working group (KKG) activities, workshops, and webinars; warning students; repairing facilities through coordination with the Education Office; assigning teachers as library staff; printing books from PPM resources; procuring books through BOS funding and parental donations; and utilizing e-books. This study is expected to serve as a reference for overcoming challenges in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in primary schools.

Abstract

Sick leave policy is a crucial component of labor rights protection and human resource management implementation within a company. However, at PT Wilson Lautan Karet, Tbk, issues have been identified in the implementation of sick leave, particularly concerning the recognition of medical certificates issued by BPJS Health facilities. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the sick leave policy implementation based on the Company Regulations from 2023 to 2025, and to assess the extent to which BPJS medical certificates are acknowledged as valid documentation. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach, involving interviews with HRD personnel and employees, as well as document analysis. The findings reveal that the implementation of the policy has not been fully effective due to the HRD’s limited understanding of national health insurance regulations and the lack of alignment between internal company policies and the BPJS system. It is concluded that the execution of sick leave policy remains suboptimal, resulting in uncertainty for employees. The study suggests a revision of company regulations to align with government policies, along with enhancing HRD's comprehension through training on occupational health regulations and the national social security system

Abstract

The use of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) as initial agreements or contractual stages is growing in Indonesia, but their legal status remains valid. This research aims to examine the position of MoUs in Indonesian contract law, focusing on several valid agreement requirements as stated in Article 1320 of the Civil Code and the court's interpretation of MoUs in law enforcement. This research applies a normative approach in legal studies and case studies. The results show that an MoU can be legally binding if it meets the valid requirements of an agreement, namely agreement, the capacity of the parties, a clear object, and a legitimate cause. Several court decisions, such as Denpasar District Court Decision No. 419/PDT.G/2012/PN.DPS, recognize MoUs as preliminary agreements that give rise to legal obligations. However, if an MoU only contains a general understanding without clear obligations, then the MoU is considered merely a moral agreement without legal consequences. This research emphasizes the importance of clarity in establishing an MoU to provide legal certainty.

Abstract

Overtime pay is a form of legal protection for workers who work beyond normal working hours. Law Number 13 of 2003 Article 78 stipulates that workers who perform overtime work are entitled to compensation in the form of overtime pay. However, in practice, the implementation of this regulation is often not optimal, especially in the small business sector such as beauty salons. Sofi Salon in Banjarmasin City was the object of research because it often implements an overtime work system, especially on weekends. Based on observations and interviews, it was found that employees work overtime almost every day, but do not receive overtime pay in accordance with legal provisions. This raises questions about the effectiveness of the implementation of overtime pay at that place and its impact on employee rights and work motivation.

Abstract

In bureaucratic practice, public services often involve many stages, work units, and officers, so that without standard procedures, the service process is prone to irregularities, inconsistencies, and even deviations. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) exist to answer the need for work standards that can be followed consistently by all service personnel. SOPs have an important role in creating structured, efficient, transparent, and accountable services. This study aims to examine the urgency of implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in public services through a literature study approach. This research was conducted using a literature review method through a literature study approach and a narrative model. The results of the study based on literature analysis indicate that SOPs as a standardization of public services, SOPs play a role in increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of public services, SOPs encourage service transparency, and are able to increase public satisfaction with the services provided.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover and analyze the religious values ​​inherent in the Sinoman Hadrah Dance in Pulantan Village, Aluh-Aluh District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Province. As a local traditional art form that developed through the acculturation of Arab-Malay culture, Sinoman Hadrah plays a role beyond mere entertainment—it becomes a medium for preaching, spirituality, and education of Islamic values ​​through elements of poetry, movement, music, and other religious fastings. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with a phenomenological approach; Data collection was conducted through field observations, interviews, and document analysis—then analyzed thematically. The results of the study indicate that this dance is imbued with religious values ​​such as faith, sharia, and morals, particularly through the recitation of poetry and praise of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It also serves as a medium for preaching and education in Islamic values ​​(living the sunnah). This dance tradition not only strengthens Banjar cultural identity but also strengthens social ties and the spirituality of its community. Thus, the Sinoman Hadrah Dance in Pulantan Village can be said to serve as a means of religious expression, moral education, and the sowing of Islamic values ​​in the dynamics of Banjar community life.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the barriers faced by students at PGRI University of West Sumatra in completing the TOEFL test, particularly in the three main skills: listening comprehension, structure and written expression, and reading comprehension. This study uses a mixed methods approach combining quantitative and qualitative methodologies. The research instruments consist of questionnaires and interviews distributed to selected students using purposive sampling techniques. Quantitative data were analyzed by calculating percentages, while qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that students experience significant barriers in all three aspects of TOEFL skills. In listening, the main challenges include limited vocabulary, barriers understanding fast conversations, and the intonation of native speakers. In structure and written expression, students faced barriers in understanding complex grammar rules and the use of academic vocabulary. In reading comprehension, the dominant barriers lay in understanding main ideas, inferences, and texts with complex structures. These findings confirm that students' challenges are not limited to a single skill but encompass all aspects of academic English proficiency.
