Abstract

This study examines the marketing strategies applied in marketing educational services at Islamic boarding school-based educational institutions. This study is motivated by efforts to develop the quality of Islamic boarding school-based educational institutions, so that they are able to compete with other institutions. Marketing of educational services is intended to create conducive and stable marketing conditions, so as to provide a positive impact on the parties involved in the marketing process (both Islamic boarding schools as producers and the community as consumers). Based on the results of research conducted at the Zainul Hasan Genggong Model Islamic High School, it was found that Islamic boarding school-based educational institutions also apply various strategies in marketing their educational services. The marketing strategy at the Zainul Hasan Genggong Model Islamic High School is carried out through the application of 7P marketing mix theory (product, price, place, promotion, human resources, physical evidence, and process) by utilizing its superior competencies as an Islamic boarding school-based educational institution that tends to be based on students and achievements, so that it can target Muslim communities with both traditional and modern backgrounds as a marketing segment for its educational services.

Abstract

Examines the varied views on talangan haji (hajj financing) in Islamic finance, focusing on the perspectives of key Islamic institutions like the Dewan Syariah Nasional-Majelis Ulama Indonesia (DSN-MUI), Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and Persatuan Islam (PERSIS). The discussion highlights the ethical and religious debates surrounding the use of financial assistance for haji, traditionally a duty only for those who can afford it without hardship. Talangan haji, essentially a benevolent loan, is scrutinized for its adherence to Islamic principles, especially regarding interest (riba) and the affordability of the pilgrimage. DSN-MUI supports talangan haji, arguing it meets Islamic guidelines by aiding Muslims in fulfilling their religious duties without involving riba. Conversely, NU and PERSIS express concerns; NU worries about the potential dependency on financial schemes that might contradict self-sufficiency in pilgrimage, while PERSIS questions the moral implications of incurring debt for religious purposes, which could compromise the required financial independence. This exploration provides a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between modern financial practices and traditional religious obligations, enhancing the ongoing discourse in Islamic jurisprudence about the relevance of ancient religious practices in contemporary settings.

Abstract

This study explores the utilization of dual currencies, the Indonesian Rupiah and Papua New Guinean Kina, in financial transactions within the Skouw Sae border area. Focusing on cross-border market dynamics, the research identifies the significant impact of dual currency usage on local economic growth, price stability, and community welfare. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through interviews with business actors and local residents, participatory observations at Skouw Market, and an analysis of documentation related to cross-border transactions. The findings reveal that the dual currency system enhances market liquidity, broadens access to international markets, and fosters an inclusive trade ecosystem. However, fluctuating exchange rates between the Rupiah and Kina pose a major challenge in determining the pricing of goods and services. Nonetheless, the flexibility of using both currencies simplifies transactions, increases the purchasing power of Papua New Guineans, and strengthens the income of local traders. This study provides valuable insights into how dual currencies can be optimized to support sustainable economic growth in border areas. The implications of this research include policy recommendations to strengthen cross-border trade regulations and improve the exchange rate stability of the two currencies.

Abstract

This study examines the neglect of street vendors (PKL) in adhering to the Jayapura City Government's regulations on public order during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research highlights the challenges faced by the government in enforcing public order rules and the underlying factors contributing to the non-compliance of PKL. Using a qualitative approach, data was gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation involving street vendors, local authorities, and community representatives. The findings reveal that the neglect stems from economic pressures, lack of awareness, and inadequate socialization of the regulations. Many street vendors prioritized their livelihood over compliance with public order measures, exacerbating public health risks during the pandemic. The study also identifies gaps in the government's strategies, including insufficient enforcement and the absence of alternative solutions for the affected vendors. Recommendations are provided to enhance regulatory compliance, including improved communication, provision of economic support, and collaboration with community leaders to ensure public order while safeguarding livelihoods. This research contributes to understanding the dynamics of policy compliance among vulnerable groups during crises and offers insights for policymakers in similar contexts.

Abstract

Implementation of Sharia Insurance for Fishermen (Case Example: Fishermen in Penebal Village, Bengkalis, Riau). The purpose of this study is to assess the application of Sharia Insurance for Fishermen in Penebal Village, and to recognize the factors that facilitate or impede its effectiveness. Researchers employed qualitative descriptive methods to conduct field research. The techniques for gathering data included conducting interviews and collecting documents. The research employs an interactive approach developed by Miles and Huberman for data analysis. This approach includes data reduction, data presentation, and data conclusion stages. Problems in the implementation were caused by, among others, the lack of clarity of information, the lack of completeness of information, and the lack of thinking ability possessed by fishermen. This has hindered the integration of the program. George Edwards stated that there are four indications that indicate the execution. This has hindered the interaction of the program. According to George Edwards, there are four indications that indicate the execution. One of these factors is communication. The Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) branch in Bengkalis conducted an event to launch a new program for fishermen. There is a shortage of human resources, particularly staff, which is causing delays in the data collection and verification process for the fishermen. However, the implementers have shown a positive attitude towards the policy of providing protection guarantee for the risk of work accidents for fishermen, in accordance with the KKP technical guidelines' Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Challenges in implementing the protection program for fishermen include a lack of engagement from fishermen in realizing the significance of safeguarding against the potential for accidents, as well as a deficit in personnel carrying out the policy for preventing occupational accidents among fishermen.
