Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the relationship between entrepreneurship education and creativity on students' entrepretneurial interest, with entrepreneurial motivation as a mediating variable. The background of this research is grounded in the importance of shaping young entrepreneurs’ character in facing employment challenges and increasingly competitive economic growth. The study employed a quantitative approach using the Structural Equation Modeling method based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), processed through SmartPLS software. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling, and data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 100 active students of Mulawarman University who had completed an entrepreneurship course. The results show that creativity has a significant and positive influence on both entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial interest, and entrepreneurial motivation is proven to be a strong determinant of students’ interest in engaging in entrepreneurial activities. On the other hand, entrepreneurship education does not have a significant effect on either entrepreneurial motivation or interest. These findings imply that fostering entrepreneurial interest among students is more influenced by internal drive and individual creative capacity rather than formal delivery of entrepreneurship content. Therefore, a more practical, inspirational, and experience-based approach to entrepreneurship education is needed to effectively stimulate students’ motivation and creativity.

Abstract

Bangsri Village, located in Blora Regency, achieved 13th place out of 2,500 villages in the 2023 Nusantara Tourism Village Competition and has progressed from a disadvantaged village to a developing village on its way to becoming an advanced one. This accomplishment was achieved despite Bangsri lacking prominent natural tourism attractions such as mountains, rivers, or unique scenic views, and previously being categorized as an underdeveloped and extremely poor village. Through a collaborative governance process involving multiple actors, Bangsri Village succeeded in transforming and developing its tourism potential. This study aims to analyze the collaboration process among stakeholders in developing Bangsri Tourism Village and its contributions to social and economic changes in the village. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The findings show that collaboration among the Village Government, the youth group Tim Maju Mapan, and local investors was key to success. This collaboration met the five indicators of collaborative governance proposed by Ansell & Gash: face-to-face dialogue, trust building, commitment to the process, shared understanding, and intermediate outcomes. Evidence of success includes increased community participation, the creation of over 150 jobs, and the return of migrant villagers to invest in their hometown. These findings demonstrate that strong collaboration can turn limitations into strengths and accelerate development based on local potential. It is recommended that the Bangsri Village Government establish a structured collaborative forum and develop guidelines for sustainable tourism investment to strengthen governance and long-term stakeholder commitment.

Abstract

Food security is an important pillar in sustainable development, especially in rural areas that are the center of food production. East Lampung Regency, as one of the agricultural centers in Indonesia, faces challenges in realizing food security that is not only sufficient in quantity, but also sustainable in the long term. This study aims to examine how the use of participatory communication can support the strengthening of food security through the empowerment of farmer communities. The focus of the study is directed at the communication process that occurs in the implementation of the Community Food Distribution Institution Strengthening Program. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews with a combination of farmer groups, member farmers, agricultural extension workers, and direct observation of food deliberation and distribution activities. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to find communication patterns, levels of participation, and their impact on increasing community capacity and independence. The results of the study show that participatory communication can build trust, encourage active farmer involvement, and strengthen the function of food institutions at the local level. Group discussions, open deliberations, and intensive interpersonal communication between the administrators of farmer groups and members are key to facilitating the process of food distribution and storage of food reserves. In addition, the use of easy-to-understand language and the suitability of communication media to the local context are supporting factors for successful communication. This study confirms that the participatory communication approach is not only a means of conveying information, but also a transformative strategy for building critical awareness and active participation in realizing sustainable food security in rural areas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of product innovation, price, and brand ambassador on the purchase decision of Scarlett Whitening in Sangasanga District. Using a quantitative approach with a descriptive method and purposive sampling technique, data were collected from 100 respondents who are active users of Scarlett Whitening products. The results of multiple linear regression analysis indicate that the three independent variables product innovation, price, and brand ambassador have a significant simultaneous effect on purchase decisions with brand ambassador being the most dominant variable. The coefficient of determination, which stands at 50.5%, reflects a fairly strong predictive power of the model. These findings confirm that purchase decisions in the beauty industry are influenced not only by functional aspects such as product quality and pricing, but also by emotional and symbolic factors associated with brand ambassadors. Theoretically, this research reinforces concepts within marketing mix theory and consumer behavior, particularly the role of symbolic communication in shaping buying intentions. Practically, local cosmetic companies are advised to develop continuous product innovations, apply competitive yet value-aligned pricing strategies, and select brand ambassadors with high credibility and strong social resonance among their target market, especially young consumers influenced by popular cultural trends such as the Korean Wave.

Abstract

The small islands are important for ocean resilience against climate change risk. While at the same time the small islands are facing serious problems for environmental degradation as seen through higher temperature, miscellaneous disaster, sea level rise, and so forth. Thus, the problems are getting worse for unachieved Sustainable Goals, for instance limited access to education, lower economic growth, and unaccessed economic development in the small islands. The higher risk for carbon emission in the industrialization era also involved the small islands, especially in the Pacific Ocean, where all the international trade carried out all the way through. Small Island Developing States (SIDS) for renewable energy is a matter for small islands. The lighthouses projects provide a best practice of a global partnership. Thus, a waste management system to create green energy in small islands is important. Methodology of the research is qualitative based on articles review and analyzing data from several resources such as books and legal reports of the United Nations. Hypothesis of the research is that international engagement troughs for small islands help local communities to survive and achieve SDGs in the industrialization era.

Abstract

This qualitative research elaborates the potentials, obstacles, and challenges in cultivating breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) or sukun as a staple food alternative in Indonesia. Data collections were conducted by in-depth interviews, field observation, and literature reviews. Breadfruit serves a promising business potentials in Indonesia, since it can be processed into various products, such as flour, crackers, and many others such as brownies and fermented goods. Breadfruit is also a superfood which provides beneficial nutrients as a source of healthy food. No wonder that breadfruit, with its 80% of carbohydrate, is a very potential alternative for staple food in Indonesia, despite not yet very popular in replacing rice. For the Indonesian farmers, breadfruit is also convenient to grow, as it can be planted in various types of land, and it can be harvested twice a year. Research found that farmers only need 10 breadfruit trees to grow, and they can earn IDR 20 million / USD 1220 for each harvest. On the other hands, this study identifies the obstacles in developing breadfruit in Indonesia, such as agricultural technical obstacle where breadfruit is prone to rottenness and damage due to containing high level of water (60-80%); the dependency to seasons and price fluctuations; the suboptimum marketing infrastructure; the agricultural institution in Indonesia which doesn’t function optimally; and limited use of breadfruit among people. In order to solve these problem, this research recommends several aspects to improve, such as management, marketing, and infrastructure; and specifically by implementing product innovation development, food processing quality improvement, and stronger institutional supports in food sector.

Abstract

Pranata Mangsa is a traditional calendar system that has been passed down through generations by the Javanese people, particularly within the context of agrarian life. More than just a tool for determining planting seasons, this system also shapes behavioral patterns, values, and social norms that are deeply embedded in rural community life. From a sociological perspective, Pranata Mangsa contributes to the formation of habitus that is, ingrained dispositions and ways of thinking that are inherited and internalized through daily practices. Amid contemporary challenges such as climate change, globalization, and agricultural modernization, many rural communities continue to use the values of Pranata Mangsa as a foundation for their way of life. The habitus formed through this local wisdom is believed to enhance social resilience, which refers to the collective ability of communities to endure and adapt to social and ecological pressures. This study aims to explore the role of Pranata Mangsa in shaping the social habitus of rural communities and its contribution to strengthening their social resilience in the face of modern challenges. Referring to Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of habitus and the concept of social resilience, this research adopts a qualitative approach using case study methods in several villages in Central Java that continue to practice Pranata Mangsa. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observation, and analysis of local documents. The results of this study are expected to provide deeper insights into the importance of preserving local wisdom as cultural capital in building socially resilient rural communities.

Abstract

As the owner of the highest percentage of rain-fed rice fields in Central Java, Rembang Regency faces serious challenges in increasing food productivity due to dependence on rainfall, land degradation, and the impact of climate change. This study aims to analyze the governance of rain-fed rice fields to increase food productivity in Rembang Regency, as well as the factors that inhibit it. The research method uses a qualitative-descriptive approach through in-depth interviews with farmers and related stakeholders. Secondary data comes from regulations, data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), journals, books, and websites. The results show that rice productivity in Rembang averages 5.5-5.6 tons/ha, lower than the provincial average (5.69 tons/ha), with the main factor being limited water infrastructure (only 17.24% of land has access to reservoirs/irrigation). Farmers receive insufficient support and outreach to understand rainfed rice management. A lack of innovation and limited information on superior rice varieties prevent farmers from comprehensively understanding which rice seeds are more suitable for their needs based on climate conditions. Regulations are not supported by technical measures at the regional level and tend to operate without integrative coordination between stakeholders. Good rainfed rice management to achieve sustainable food security as targeted by the SDGs requires not only technical development but also improvements in agricultural governance, including coordination, participation, capacity, and policies. Infrastructure development must emphasize community participation and be village-based. With farmer collaboration and policy integration between relevant agencies, food security in Rembang is not impossible to achieve. This research is not only relevant to Rembang Regency, but also other regions with similar rainfed land characteristics in Indonesia and globally.

Abstract

Extreme poverty remains a serious problem in various regions and requires an approach that involves many parties collaboratively, especially at the local government level that is directly in touch with the dynamics of community life. A number of previous studies, both at the global and national levels, have examined poverty alleviation strategies through various approaches such as economic empowerment, government cooperation with the private sector, and the implementation of sustainable programs involving local communities. However, so far there have been limited studies that specifically discuss collaboration models between actors in the local government environment, or cross-sector collaboration with actors such as the business world, universities, the media, and the poor as active subjects. Furthermore, the theoretical approach based on Institutional Analysis and Development (IAD) developed by Elinor Ostrom has not been widely utilized in understanding collaborative relationship patterns and governance in poverty alleviation. Therefore, this study is structured as a literature review that aims to summarize and examine collaboration models that have been applied, as well as identifying empty spaces in scientific discourse. It is hoped that the results of this study can be a conceptual basis that strengthens fair, participatory, and contextual collaboration practices in efforts to reduce extreme poverty in the region.

Abstract

This study examines the role of internet access in shaping the adoption of e-commerce technologies among Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). It draws on secondary data from Indonesia’s Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) covering 2021 to 2023. Using a descriptive-comparative method combined with visual trend analysis, the analysis reveals significant disparities in e-commerce technology adoption across different business functions. Early adoption efforts were focused mainly on customer-facing processes (e.g., online sales), whereas internal operations—such as obtaining funding and internal communications—lagged far behind. By 2023, overall digital adoption had accelerated substantially, especially in sales-related activities. Furthermore, the number of QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) transactions surged from 374 million in 2021 to over 6.2 billion by 2024, underscoring the rapid digital transformation underway in the sector. These findings align with the Diffusion of Innovation theory and the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework, highlighting the importance of organizational readiness and the perceived benefits of new technologies. Overall, this research contributes to the discourse on inclusive digital transformation in developing economies and advocates for policies that support the digitalization of internal business processes rather than focusing solely on external, customer- facing applications.
