Abstract

The Mandailing wedding tradition is one of Indonesia’s rich cultural heritages that embodies noble values and can serve as a valuable source for character education. Through ceremonies that emphasize mutual cooperation (gotong royong), deliberation (musyawarah), respect for parents, and religiosity, the Mandailing community has preserved and transmitted moral and character education across generations. This study aims to examine the character values embedded in the Mandailing wedding tradition and identify their relevance to educational practices. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review and cultural observation. The findings indicate that the Mandailing wedding tradition contains essential values such as responsibility, cooperation, honesty, and respect, which can be integrated into the learning process to cultivate students with noble character and a deep appreciation for their cultural heritage.

Abstract

The Mangupa ceremony is one of the most significant traditional rituals of the Mandailing community, rich in educational, moral, and spiritual values. This study aims to examine the educational values embedded in the Mangupa ceremony and their relevance to strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile within the context of character education. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through literature studies and analysis of cultural values reflected in the symbols, meanings, and rituals of the ceremony. The findings reveal that the Mangupa ceremony embodies several core educational values, including religious devotion and gratitude, respect for parents and tradition, independence and responsibility, love for nature and ecological awareness, as well as solidarity and mutual cooperation. These values represent moral and social principles that can shape students to become faithful, virtuous, independent, cooperative, critical-thinking, and globally minded individuals in accordance with the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile. The Mangupa tradition thus functions not only as a cultural ritual but also as an educational medium that instills spiritual, social, and ecological awareness. Therefore, preserving and integrating the values contained in the Mangupa ceremony into character education based on local wisdom is highly relevant to strengthening the cultural identity and moral integrity of Indonesia’s young generation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe educators’ experiences when using the lecture method through a phenomenological interview-based approach. The primary objective of this research is to explore teachers’ perspectives, strategies, challenges, and meanings behind their experiences in applying the lecture method during teaching activities. Data were collected through in‑depth interviews with several teachers representing diverse teaching backgrounds. The findings indicate that the lecture method is still considered effective for delivering certain learning materials that require direct explanation. However, teachers face several challenges such as students’ lack of attention, limited time, and pressure to diversify instructional methods. Nevertheless, teachers strive to optimize the lecture method by combining it with visual media, questioning techniques, and relevant examples to make learning more interactive. This study concludes that teachers’ experiences in using the lecture method are strongly influenced by classroom context, student characteristics, and teachers’ creativity in adjusting instructional strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the discussion method in learning Al-Qur’an Hadith at MAN 3 Siabu and to analyze its effectiveness in enhancing students’ activeness and comprehension. This research employed a qualitative approach with a field research design and descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and students. The findings indicate that the discussion method significantly improves student participation, conceptual understanding, and critical thinking skills. Various forms of discussion, including group discussions, class discussions, and debates, were utilized to create an interactive learning environment. Students responded positively to the application of this method, showing increased enthusiasm in asking questions, presenting arguments, and delivering group results. Supporting studies from previous research also confirm that the discussion method effectively enhances learning outcomes, motivation, and analytical skills in both Al-Qur’an Hadith learning and classical Islamic texts. Challenges such as passive students were addressed through proper classroom management and teacher facilitation. Overall, the discussion method proves to be highly relevant and effective in improving the quality of Al-Qur’an Hadith learning.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the use of the question and answer method in the Al-Qur'an Hadith learning process at SMAN 1 Panyabungan. This study adopts a qualitative approach, and data were obtained through direct interviews with teachers of these subjects. The results show that teachers begin learning activities by reading relevant verses to attract students' attention. The question and answer method is applied at the beginning, middle, and end of the learning session to gradually evaluate students' understanding. Teachers also provide media such as pictures, illustrations, and videos to increase student interest and design questions with a level of difficulty appropriate to their abilities. The students' response was quite positive, as seen from their increased participation and enthusiasm in answering and asking questions. One obstacle that arose was that some students felt less confident when participating. To overcome this problem, teachers provided encouragement, positive reinforcement, and additional rewards to boost students' courage. Overall, the question and answer method was considered effective in improving students' understanding and engagement in Al-Qur'an Hadith learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of teachers in shaping the character of students at SDN 131 Tanjung and to analyze how Islamic educational values are reflected in the learning process. Based on the results of interviews, teachers explained that their role is not limited to delivering material, but also includes guiding students' morals, character, and personality. Character building is carried out through role modeling, daily habits, and effective communication between teachers, parents, and the school environment. Teachers instill the values of honesty, discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect through simple routines such as greetings, prayers, classroom discipline, and polite behavior. Role modeling is the most effective method because students tend to imitate what they see from their teachers. Obstacles encountered include differences in student character and a lack of support from some parents. This study also reviews the concept of education from an Islamic perspective, including the roles of mu'allim, murabbiy, mudarris, mu'addib, and mursyid as moral guides. Overall, the results of the study confirm that the role of teachers is crucial to the success of character building and the quality of learning, so teachers are required to be professional, moral, and inspiring educators.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of auditory learning styles in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SDN 146 Kayu Laut. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, using interviews as the primary data collection technique. The findings indicate that the PAI teacher implemented auditory-oriented learning strategies such as lecturing, storytelling, question–answer sessions, group discussions, and memorization activities. Audio media, including religious songs, were also used to enhance student understanding. The implementation of the auditory learning style was found to support students in recalling and comprehending the material more easily, as well as improving their verbal communication skills. Nonetheless, several challenges were identified, including students’ difficulty maintaining focus, boredom with repetitive techniques, and occasional technical issues with audio devices. The teacher addressed these obstacles by increasing student engagement through verbal reflections and interactive discussions. Overall, auditory learning strategies were applied effectively, though additional method variations are still needed to accommodate diverse learning styles.

Abstract

Inheritance distribution is a legal and social issue with both normative and sociological dimensions. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the principle of justice in inheritance distribution practices in the Barbaran Village community and its compliance with Islamic law. This study used a qualitative method with an empirical approach, through in-depth interviews with religious leaders, traditional leaders, and heirs, as well as field observations. This study aimed to examine how the principle of justice is implemented in inheritance distribution practices in the Barbaran Village community. The results indicate that inheritance distribution practices in Barbaran Village are generally carried out in accordance with Islamic law, both in terms of the timing of distribution, the determination of heirs, and the proportion of inheritance distribution. The principle of justice applied is proportional, as stipulated in the Qur'an and Hadith, and is reinforced through family deliberation as a means of reaching agreement and maintaining harmony. Thus, inheritance distribution practices in the Barbaran Village community are not only normatively valid according to Islamic law but also socially and culturally relevant.

Abstract

This study examines the spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance as fundamental social values that shape community cohesion and collective resilience. Cooperation and gotong royong have long been embedded in Indonesian society, functioning as moral foundations that encourage solidarity, shared responsibility, and participatory engagement in social life. This research aims to analyze the relevance of these values in contemporary society, particularly in the face of modernization, individualism, and social change. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through literature review and analysis of social practices within communities. The findings indicate that the spirit of cooperation and gotong royong remains highly relevant as a means of strengthening social harmony, enhancing collective problem-solving, and fostering a sense of belonging among community members. However, challenges such as declining social interaction and the rise of self-centered attitudes have weakened these values in certain contexts. Therefore, revitalizing cooperation and mutual assistance through education, cultural preservation, and community-based programs is essential to ensure their sustainability. Strengthening these values contributes not only to social stability but also to the development of inclusive and resilient communities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between learning styles and student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education subjects at SMP Negeri 2 Kotanopan. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The research sample was 30 grade VII students who were randomly selected using a simple random sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire to measure students' learning styles and an Islamic Religious Education learning outcome test. Based on the results of data analysis, a correlation coefficient of 0.791 was obtained, indicating a positive and significant relationship between learning styles and learning outcomes. This means that the better the student's learning style, the higher the learning outcomes obtained in the Islamic Religious Education subjec. This study suggests that teachers better understand and pay attention to differences in student learning styles and apply appropriate learning methods so that learning outcomes can be improved. Students are also advised to recognize their respective learning styles so that they can optimize their learning process.
