Abstract

The global reputational crisis faced by McDonald’s Indonesia due to a wave of boycotts highlights the complexity of organizational communication strategies in responding to public pressure. The main objective of this study is to analyze how the dynamics of organizational communication unfolded through both qualitative and quantitative approaches during the period of July 2023 to March 2024. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive design using narrative data analysis techniques and data collection through online media documentation, as well as quantitative data sourced from the Social Blade platform. The findings indicate that McDonald’s Indonesia experienced a shift in public image from positive to critical due to public reactions to a global issue. The communication strategies implemented during the pre-crisis, crisis, and post-crisis phases were found to be not fully adaptive, as evidenced by a significant decline in Instagram followers and fluctuations in YouTube views. The study also reveals that image recovery occurred slowly, underscoring the importance of aligning communication strategies with the context of the crisis. These findings reinforce crisis communication theory and emphasize the significance of cultural sensitivity and responsiveness in cross-border organizational communication in the digital era.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui peran orang tua dalam perkembangan pemerolehan bahasa pertama anak. Penelitian ini mengambil data dari orang tua dan anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan mengambil data dari seorang ibu dan anaknya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengasuhan penting untuk membantu mengembangkan bahasa anak. Dalam hal ini, orang tua yang cerdas dan peka terhadap perkembangan anak akan dapat memberikan arahan kepada anak untuk belajar dan mengembangkan kemampuan bahasa dan kemampuan berbicara di hadapan orang-orang di sekitarnya, sehingga akan melindungi anaknya agar tetap tenang dari hal-hal baru. pengalaman di luar rumah dan di sekolah, beberapa bekal bagi anak untuk menghadapi dunia luar. Kata Kunci: Bahasa Pertama, Perkembangan Akuisisi, dan Peran Orang Tua

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis peran penting media massa, termasuk media online dan media cetak, dalam mendorong partisipasi politik perempuan di tingkat lokal di Kota Ambon. Fokus penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dampak positif media massa terhadap perempuan yang terlibat dalam politik lokal, mulai dari tingkat yang lebih rendah seperti ketua RT dan ketua RW hingga posisi-posisi eksekutif dan legislatif yang lebih tinggi. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dan survei, penelitian ini menyajikan temuan yang signifikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media massa telah menjadi alat penting dalam memberikan visibilitas dan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang peran politik perempuan di Kota Ambon. Sebagai akibatnya, terjadi peningkatan partisipasi perempuan dalam politik lokal, dengan banyak perempuan yang terjun langsung dalam kepemimpinan di tingkat RT, RW, Kepala Desa, dan bahkan dalam lembaga legislatif. Selain meningkatnya partisipasi, perubahan dalam perwakilan gender juga terlihat jelas. Keterlibatan politik perempuan telah membawa gagasan dan perspektif yang lebih beragam dalam pembuatan kebijakan dan pengambilan keputusan di tingkat lokal. Hal ini menciptakan lingkungan yang lebih inklusif dan mendukung pembangunan yang berkelanjutan dan representatif. Penelitian ini memberikan kontrsi penting untuk memahami peran kunci media massa dalam mendorong partisipasi politik perempuan dan mengubah lanskap politik lokal. Hasil penelitian ini juga memberikan panduan berharga untuk daerah-daerah lain dengan konteks serupa, dengan potensi untuk memperkuat representasi gender dan mempromosikan pembangunan inklusif di seluruh negeri. Kata kunci: Perempuan, Politik Lokal, Media Massa, Inklusivitas dalam Kebijakan Lokal

Abstract

This study examines the translation methods used in labeling collections of objects at the Cakraningrat Museum Bangkalan. The Cakraningrat Museum Bangkalan is an institution that aims to collect, maintain, and exhibit objects of historical, artistic, cultural, or scientific value. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to identify and analyze translation methods using Newmark's theory (1988). The results of this study indicate that translators use several translation methods such as literal translation methods, faithful translation methods, semantic translation methods, and communicative translation methods with the most dominant literal translation method used.Keywords: culture, museum, translation, labeling, collection  Abstrak  Penelitian ini mengkaji metode penerjemahan yang digunakan dalam pelabelan koleksi benda di Museum Cakraningrat Bangkalan. Museum Cakraningrat Bangkalan merupakan sebuah lembaga yang bertujuan untuk mengoleksi, merawat, dan memamerkan objek-objek bernilai sejarah, seni, budaya, atau ilmu pengetahuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis metode penerjemahan mengguakan teori Newmark (1988). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerjemah menggunakan beberapa metode penerjemahan seperti metode penerjemahan harfiah, metode penerjemahan setia (faithful), metode penerjemahan semantis, dan metode penerjemahan komunikatif dengan metode penerjemahan harfiah yang paling dominan digunakan.  Kata kunci: budaya, museum, penerjemahan, pelabelan, koleksi

Abstract

This article discusses the perspective of Madurese people in terms of the politeness context of the word ‘sampèyan’ that they use in communication. It discusses who and under what circumstances or situations the word ‘sampèyan’ is used by the Madurese, and how their views are related to the values of modesty attached to the word. By using questionnaire and interview methods, the results of the study show that the word ‘sampèyan’ is commonly used by Madurese people (who use Madurese in their daily life) to parents, teachers, older people, foreigners who just met and known, and to people who are respected, such as community leaders (klebun, belater, camat, regent). However, if the word ‘sampèyan’ is used together with Bahasa Indonesia, it will have an essence and sense (meaning) that are different from the original essence of the Madurese language. In general, the word ‘sampèyan’ can be used in both formal and informal situations. Additionally, associated with the values of politeness that apply to the culture and social norms of the Madurese community, most Madurese people believe that the word ‘sampèyan’ can still be categorized in polite language groups, because according to the language level of Madurese it belongs to the engghi-enten language group and is still appropriate to be used to people they respect. Even though basically there are still higher levels, for example the words ‘panjenengan’ and ‘ajunan’ to show politeness, the word ‘panjenengan’ is only used specifically for the Kyai or Ulama’ and his family, and the word ‘ajunan’ is commonly used together with the word ‘Allah’. However, the results of the study also show that the word ‘sampèyan’ would be disrespectful if it is used roughly to ridicule and harass others because these attitudes are categorized as the attitudes of cangkolang (bad attitudes) and are not acceptable in the social norms of the Madurese community.Key Words: Politeness Context, ‘Sampèyan’, Madurese Language, Madurese Community

Abstract

This research is based on social phenomena that exist in society, especially in the Jember-East Java area. The Islamic community in this area takes action to ask for charitable donations on the main road with the aim of repairing or building a mosque. They did this behavior on the grounds that the mosque's construction funds could continue. Judging from Islamic values, this behavior is actually not justified because begging even under the pretext of developing the house of Allah is a prohibited action. This social phenomenon is also not free from risks. The risk theory popularized by Ulrich Beck explains that society cannot be separated from the consequences that come from its own behavior. This study aims to dissect the social phenomenon of charitable donations on the highway with Ulrich Beck's theory of risk. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques are carried out by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the triangulation method. The results of this study indicate that there are two risks that accompany the phenomenon of charitable donations on the highway, namely the construction of mosques will continue, but on the other hand the community will take dishonest actions, such as taking or putting large sums of money into their personal pockets. . Keywords: Charitable Donations, Islamic Society, Risk, and Social phenomena

Abstract

Performance is the real behavior shown by each person as a work achievement produced in accordance with their role. In order to achieve good performance of the State Civil Service, self-efficacy and a physical work environment are needed. The research aims to determine the influence of self-efficacy and the physical work environment on the performance of State Civil Apparatus in X Regency. Researchers distributed online questionnaires to 132 State Civil Servants in X Regency, with 54 men and 78 women. The scales used are the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ), General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), and Reactions Physical Work Environment Scale (RPWES). This research uses quantitative methods. The research results show that self-efficacy and the physical work environment simultaneously have a positive effect on the performance of the State Civil Service in X Regency. Keywords: Performance, Self-Efficacy, Physical Work Environment

Abstract

This study analyses the types of politeness strategies used in the Makna Talks podcast entitled “Living Life to the Fullest” with Nicholas Saputra, based on Brown and Levinson’s (1987) theory of politeness. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the writers analyzed the transcript of the episode and identified utterances that demonstrated politeness strategies. The writers found 75 data points and categorized them into four types of politeness strategies. The results showed that positive politeness was used most frequently (45 data points), followed by the bald on record strategy (18 data points), negative politeness (9 data points), and the off record strategy (6 data points). Positive politeness demonstrated the friendliness between the host and guest. The bald on record strategy demonstrated spontaneity and provided clarity. Negative politeness arises in situations that require caution, while the off-record strategy emerges when the speaker uses indirect messages. Thus, this study emphasises the use of politeness strategies to maintain facial expressions, appropriate language use, and create good relationships so that digital conversations such as podcasts are comfortable and relaxed. Keywords: politeness strategies, Brown Levinson, Pragmatics, Makna Talks, podcast conversations

Abstract

Setiap kesenjangan gender mulai dari identifikasi, prasangka, hingga eksploitasi ditelaah oleh feminisme. Studi tentang identitas gender memberikan penekanan khusus pada konflik gender dan representasinya dalam cerita pendek. Perjuangan gender untuk karakter perempuan dalam cerita pendek The Yellow Wallpaper dibahas dalam penelitian ini. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi adanya perjuangan gender yang dialami oleh tokoh utama dalam cerpen The Yellow karya Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi penelitian kualitatif. Tokoh utama perempuan dalam cerpen ini digambarkan sebagai seorang perempuan yang mengalami gangguan mental dan merasa tertekan karena dikurung oleh suaminya, dan ia berjuang untuk mendapatkan kebebasan yang ia inginkan, untuk menganalisanya maka penelitian ini menggunakan teori Paddy MacQueen. Temuan penelitian ini mengungkapkan perjuangan gender bagi tokoh utama perempuan dalam cerpen tersebut adalah perjuangan akan mimpi, kenyataan hidup, kasih sayang dan cinta. Kata kunci: perjuangan gender, tokoh utama perempuan, cerita pendek

Abstract

The objectives of this study are, first, to examine the public's perspective. This aims to determine how the people of Jelun Village view gandrung, a traditional art form native to Banyuwangi Regency. Second, to examine the reasons why gandrung culture has not developed. This study uses a qualitative approach with field research. The location of this study is Jelun Village, Licin District, Banyuwangi Regency. This study uses a purposive technique, meaning data collection techniques are based on specific considerations. The informants in this study are considered to be the most knowledgeable and understanding of the research topic. Several factors indicate that Gandrung dance is no longer preserved. First, due to technological factors and a lack of interest from the community itself. Second, due to the fanaticism of the Jelun community, and women in the Jelun community are still very embarrassed to wear revealing clothing while dancing. Therefore, Gandrung dance here stems from the community's own unwillingness to preserve Gandrung dance.
