Abstract

Proses perkembangan hubungan di zaman kemajuan teknologi ini pastinya memiliki peluang mengalami sebuah perubahan proses atau tahapan. Sebagaimana perkembangan hubungan yang biasanya dilakukan secara tatap muka atau langsung, kini dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan mediasi oleh aplikasi kencan online Bumble yang merupakan salah satu bukti kemajuan teknologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana tahapan perkembangan hubungan antar individu menggunakan aplikasi kencan online Bumble dalam menuju hubungan romantis dengan menerapkan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dan paradigma post-positifistik. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah wawancara mendalam serta teknik analisis Miles dan Huberman yang didasari oleh Model Tahapan Perkembangan Hubungan Menuju Komitmen Mark Knapp’s, dibantu oleh Teori Penetrasi Sosial dan Teori Proses Informasi Social (SIP). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa proses tahapan perkembangan hubungan Mark Knapp’s setelah di implementasikan pada komunikasi antar pribadi pengguna aplikasi kencan online Bumble menjadi empat tahap meliputi initiating, experimenting, intensifying, dan integrating. (1) Pada tahapan pertama, intiating terdapat pembentukan citra atau image selaras dengan Selective Self-Presentation pada Teori Proses Informasi Sosial dan pemilihan kata di pesan pertama. (2) Tahap kedua yakni experimenting, ditemukan bahwa terdapat kegiatan bertukar informasi dengan menggunakan pertanyaan umum/pengetahuan serta kegiatan seperti stalking dan screening. (3) Tahap ketiga intensifying, terdapat pembahasan informasi bersifat privasi didasari pengungkapan diri. Pada tahap ketiga dan keempat terjadi kegiatan pengungkapan diri / Self-Disclosure yang selaras dengan Teori Penetrasi Sosial. (4) Tahap keempat integrating, hubungan antar individu memutuskan untuk menuju hubungan sebagai pasangan romantis “pacar” serta menghapus aplikasi kencan online Bumble sebagai bentuk komitmen. Simpulan penelitian ini yakni tahapan perkembangan hubungan menuju komitmen Mark Knapp’s terjadi dari tahap initiating, experimenting, intensifying, dan integrating dengan kegiatan yang dilakukan oleh informan di setiap tahapan. Penelitian ini merekomendasi untuk penelitian selanjutnya dapat meneliti perkembangan hubungan romantis di aplikasi kencan online, dimana trend yang terjadi pada riset penelitian ini dapat diterapkan atau tidak di aplikasi kencan online lain. Serta perluasan pada bentuk perkembangan hubungan romantis selain “pacaran” yang terjadi di aplikasi kencan online.

Abstract

Media reporting on female athletes still has some problems. Starting from stereotypes, sexism, objectification, commodification, and their voices that aren't represented proportionally. In Indonesia, the masculine culture embedded in sports and media often ignores the abilities and achievements of female athletes. This study used the critical constructivism paradigm to find out how female athletes are represented through the framing in the online media Okezone.com and Kompas.com during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This study used Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M Kosicki's framing analysis. This model divides framing into four elements; syntactic structure, script structure, thematic structure, and rhetorical structure. Ten news, each from online media Okezone.com and Kompas.com from 22 July - 23 August 2021 used as data for this study. Findings from this study indicate that news titles published by Okezone.com are the result of commodification based on the objectification of female athletes' physical appearances. This can be seen through the syntactic structure used in headlines and leads. The dominant script structure prioritizes "who" and "what" and didn't fulfill the news comprehensiveness as it should. The thematic structure can be seen by the choice of words and how the sentences used in the news tend to objectify women by reducing their appearance. The dominant rhetoric emphasizes diction that focused on physical appearance. Meanwhile, Kompas.com news headline shows gender sensitivity in reporting female athletes. This can be seen by how Kompas.com's syntax emphasizes female athletes' struggles and their career journeys. The syntactic structure of news presented by Kompas.com fulfills the 5W+1H element of news and emphasizes the "how" element. The thematic structure highlights female athletes' achievement as the main theme. The rhetorical structure of the selected photos or images shows the professionalism of female athletes. Findings from this study also show that the representation of female athletes through the media framing of Okezone.com is that female athlete are described as attractive-looking figures seen from their style of dress, glamor life, and their appearance on the field. Meanwhile, there are five representations of female athletes by Kompas.com; (1) Tough, (2) Achievers, (3) Having a high fighting spirit, (4) Responsible, (5) Able to penetrate gender boundaries in sports and (6) Sportive.

Abstract

The emergence of social media has brought many changes in people's lives. The increasing use of social media has also increased the emergence of the influencer phenomenon, especially in Indonesia. Micro influencers are the lowest influencer category on social media in terms of the number of followers that range from 1,000 to 15,000 followers. However, despite having the lowest follower count of any other category and not having their former popularity, micro influencers are able to attract an audience to follow them on Instagram. This study aims to understand in depth the motivations of followers to follow certain micro influencers, what forms can be intertwined between the two, as well as the benefits gained by followers in following these micro influencers. This research is a phenomenological research with an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach. The data collection technique was carried out using in-depth interview techniques with twelve (12) informants from three (3) different micro influencer categories, with the criteria of actively interacting on social media with the micro influencers they follow. The results of this study found that there were four follower motivations in following micro influencers on social media. First, there is positive emotional arousal in the form of feeling happy, excited, entertained, excited, and motivated. Second, there is physical attractiveness such as the physical appearance of micro influencers, similarities in hobbies, tastes or areas of residence, and the ability of micro influencers to produce content and manage their social media. Third, there is the Bandwagon Effect, where followers tend to follow micro influencers because they follow what their friends are doing. Fourth, followers are motivated to follow micro influencers on social media because they set micro influencers as role models. Meanwhile, the interactions that exist between followers and the micro influencers they follow are parasocial interactions, because closeness is only felt by the followers. By following micro influencers, followers can get benefits in the form of fulfilling their needs for information and entertainment

Abstract

Mayoritas masyarakat Indonesia kerap menyamakan transgender sebagai perilaku sosial menyimpang dan abnormal. Berkembangnya stigma kemudian membuat mereka membatasi interaksi dengan lingkungan sekitar. Stigma tersebut juga memunculkan hambatan bagi transgender dalam memilih pasangan. Oleh karena itu, individu transgender perlu mengelola stigma yang ada agar dapat memilih pasangan dalam hubungan asmara yang ingin dicapai. Tujuan dari dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan strategi pengelolaan stigma yang dilalui individu transgender dalam proses pemilihan pasangan. Beberapa teori yang digunakan mengacu pada Teori Stigma Management Communication, A Six-Stage Model of Relationships, Teori Gender in Interpersonal Communication, dan Teori Conflict Management Styles. Penelitian ini merupakan tipe penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan fenomenologi dan mempergunakan paradigma interpretif serta teknik pengumpulan data wawancara mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh informan lebih berfokus pada strategi menghindari tanggung jawab dan mengurangi serangan stigma dengan cara menghentikan profesi PSK, mengembangkan keterampilan, aktif berorganisasi, serta menjaga perilaku baik kepada orang-orang sekitarnya. Meski sempat merasakan khawatir akan adanya kesulitan memiliki pasangan, namun seluruh informan waria pada penelitian ini telah memiliki pasangan lelaki nontransgender. Proses pemilihan pasangan oleh transgender ditinjau melalui tahapan pengembangan hubungan dari tahap contact, involvement, hingga intimacy. Selama pengembangan hubungan asmara tersebut, masing-masing informan melakukan evaluasi terkait hal-hal yang ia peroleh ketika bersama dengan calon pasangan. Hasil dari evaluasi menjadi dasar bagi informan dalam meneruskan hubungan dan memilih calon tersebut untuk dijadikan pasangan atau tidak. Secara keseluruhan, informan mengutamakan memilih pasangan yang mampu menerima identitasnya selaku waria. Namun kemudian, pada akhirnya mayoritas dari mereka tidak berkeinginan melanjutkan hubungan ke jenjang pernikahan.

Abstract

IFPI data shows a decline in global recorded music revenue from permanent digital download channels since 2014, while revenue from streaming channels has increased rapidly. In the midst of this phenomenon, BTS digital song sales are still producing brilliant achievements in the international music market. Consumption in the fandom community is known to have its own characteristics. This study aims to find out how consumption values influence ARMY interested in purchasing BTS digital songs. Product consumption values consist of functional value, social value, emotional value, epistemic value, and conditional value. These consumption values are proposed in Consumption Value Theory, which assumes that product choice behavior is influenced by one or all of the consumption values. Research into song buying has been around for a long time, but it has focused on emotional loyalties with artists and the effects of using audio streaming websites. This research is an explanatory research type. The sampling technique used non-random sampling with 112 research subject, male and female following ARMY fanbase group aged 20–30 years who had heard BTS digital songs. Testing were carried out using multiple linear analyses. Hypothesis testing shows effect of simultaneous consumption value on song purchase intention. This value is then explored in relation to the fan community when creating marketing strategies to create song success.

Abstract

Kekerasan dalam pacaran (KDP) merupakan pola perilaku yang kasar, tidak menyenangkan, dan digunakan untuk mengerahkan kontrol serta kekuasaan atas pasangan. Hal kekerasan ini dapat dimaknai sebagai tindakan terhadap pasangan yang belum terikat pernikahan meliputi kekerasan fisik emosional, ekonomi, ataupun pembatasan aktivitas dalam sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendalami mengenai pengalaman remaja perempuan yang mengalami kekerasan dalam pacaran dan bagaimana proses pengambilan keputusan yang dilakukan oleh korban. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, keempat informan remaja perempuan mengkonfirmasi adanya kekerasan dalam pacaran yang dilakukan oleh pasangannya sendiri. Dalam penelitian ini mengetahui bagaimana informan menunjukkan perasaan dan mengkomunikasikannya dengan pasangan. Terdapat 5 (lima) bentuk kekerasan yang ditemukan, yaitu fisik, verbal, seksual, ekonomi, dan pembatasan aktivitas. Penelitian ini menemukan alasan mempertahankan hubungan kekerasan selain hasrat, keintiman, komitmen oleh masing-masing informan, faktor lain yang menjadi alasan bertahan juga didasari karena adanya kedekatan hubungan keluarga karena adanya alasan ketidaktegaan untuk mengakhiri sebuah hubungan yang sudah terjalin dengan melibatkan banyak pihak selain antar pasangan. Sebagai remaja yang memiliki usia rentan dalam memaknai hubungan membuat beberapa diantara mereka memaklumi setiap tindakan kekerasan. Adapun proses komunikasi yang dilakukan tiga dari empat informan memilih untuk mengkomunikasikan saat konflik sudah mereda sedangkan informan lain menghadapi sebuah konflik dengan menyelesaikan dan mencari solusi pada saat itu juga.

Abstract

The ta’aruf method as a premarital exploratory process can be chosen by Muslim individuals who want to get to know their potential spouse better through a method that is in accordance with Islamic law. In this study, individuals who carry out ta’aruf are seen as a subject who has certain thoughts and feelings in the relationship development process that is passed. The whole process of thinking by individuals gives meaning to the experience of dialogue with other individuals throughout the ta’aruf process. This study aims to understand the stages of relationship development and to understand the communication patterns formed in the experience in ta’aruf. There are two theories used in this study, namely the theory of relationship development and the theory of relational dialectics. This research is a qualitative descriptive study and uses a phenomenological approach that highlights the unique experiences that the informants have gone through. Researchers conducted in-depth interviews with the four research informants to explore the experiences of each informant. The results obtained from this study are that the stages of developing relationships in ta’aruf are a dynamic process. Relationship development is not tied to a fixed path. Interpersonal relationships in ta’aruf cover the stages of contact, involvement, intimacy, deterioration, repair, and dissolution which consist of the process of exchanging personal profiles, discussion processes, and engagement, until a decision is made to marry or not to marry. Furthermore, the pattern of communication formed in ta’aruf is determined by the background of the informant and partner, the mediator, the form and the system of communication, and the involvement of the nuclear family. Belief become a factor that influences individual decision-making to move forward or backward to a certain stage in the relationship. Confidence comes from a collection of information obtained through dialogue and dialectics which is then managed within the individual.

Abstract

Bencana banjir merupakan permasalahan yang belum terselesaikan di DKI Jakarta. Kebijakan penanggulangan banjir yang diupayakan Pemprov DKI Jakarta selalu menuai sorotan publik. Hal tersebut tidak terlepas dari peran media massa yang memberikan porsi khusus seputar pemberitaan banjir Jakarta. Media online arus utama seringkali memiliki perbedaan perspektif, ideologi, dan agenda media. Perbedaan tersebut menciptakan bingkai tertentu yang berdampak pada bagaimana khalayak memahami sebuah isu atau peristiwa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Mengetahui bagaimana pembingkaian media online (Detik.com, Kompas.com, dan Tempo.co) terhadap program sumur resapan Pemprov DKI Jakarta; (2) Mengevaluasi pemberitaan program sumur resapan Pemprov DKI Jakarta dalam perspektif etika jurnalisme lingkungan. Media massa perlu memperhatikan etika jurnalisme dalam memberitakan isu lingkungan sehingga mampu mendorong publik untuk peduli terhadap perubahan dan perbaikan kualitas lingkungan hidup. Peneliti memilih dan menganalisis sejumlah 30 berita dari ketiga media selama periode 1-31 Desember 2021. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis framing model Zhongdang Pan dan M. Kosicki. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa media online menggunakan tiga tema dalam memberitakan program sumur resapan Pemprov DKI Jakarta, yaitu: (1) Anggaran program sumur resapan; (2) Perjalanan proyek sumur resapan; dan (3) Efektivitas program sumur resapan. Masing-masing tema memiliki sentimen framing yang berbeda untuk mendukung atau menentang program sumur resapan Pemprov DKI Jakarta. Kompas.com membingkai secara negatif dengan cenderung menentang program sumur resapan sebagai upaya penanggulangan banjir Pemprov DKI Jakarta. Sedangkan dalam bingkai Detik.com dan Tempo.co, keduanya cenderung membingkai secara positif dengan mendukung pihak Pemprov DKI Jakarta selaku penyelenggara program sumur resapan. Pembingkaian Detik.com tidak sepenuhnya positif karena menekankan normalisasi sungai sebagai solusi yang tepat dalam penanggulangan banjir Jakarta pada tema efektivitas program sumur resapan. Selain itu, ketiga media masih belum seutuhnya menerapkan tiga poin kode etik jurnalisme lingkungan dari International Federation of Environmental Journalists (IFEJ). Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pemberitaan ketiga media online agar lebih berimbang dan memperhatikan etika jurnalisme lingkungan.

Abstract

As many as ten hospitals in Semarang City are suspected of neglecting patients using BPJS Health. The initial survey was conducted to obtain supporting data. Conducting interviews using a questionnaire sheet to 30 BPJS Health patients who have or are currently receiving hospital’s services. There are three cases of BPJS Health patients who were rejected by the hospital. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Interpersonal Communication Competency Level and Service Quality of Health Workers on BPJS Health Patients Satisfaction Levels in Semarang City. The theory used in this research is interpersonal need gratification theory and the expectancy disconfirmation model. The method used is a quantitative approach using a simple random sampling technique, with a total of 155 respondents who are BPJS Health patients at X Hospital in July 2022. The results of the first hypothesis test indicate that there is an effect of the level of interpersonal communication competence of health workers on the satisfaction level of BPJS Health patients with a significance value is 0.000. The results of the second hypothesis test indicate that there is an effect of the quality of health services on the satisfaction level of BPJS Health patients with a significance value is 0.000.

Abstract

The Selesai movie had uncovered controversy in the middle of 2021 because it was considered problematic for 3 female roles simultaneously. This study aims to understand and describe how the audience interprets the role of women as wife, mother and mistress in the Selesai movie. This study uses Stuart Hall's Audience Reception Theory. John Fiske's The Codes of Television is used to analyze the dominant meaning and Stuart Hall's reception analysis method is used to determine the meaning position of the audience. Data collection was carried out using in-depth interviews with the subjects in this study, male or female viewers who had watched the film Finish at least once. The results of the study show that in Preferred Reading, the Dominant Ideology is shown in this film is Patriarchal Ideology. Women are portrayed as guilty, selfish, weak and sexual objects. The informant brought it up. However, in the diversity of meanings there are alternative meanings that emerge, the wife is interpreted as a partner and complement of the family that still depend on the husband but it is also found that the meaning of the wife is interpreted as being able to choose differences including in the sphere of sexuality and the economy. The diversity of meanings related to mother is still dominant in child marriage, some see this as having good intentions or even disturbing their child's marriage. Mistresses are interpreted as having the right to fulfill what is not owned by a legal wife, there are those who interpret it only in the sexual sphere or in all aspects including emotional support. This study found that the dominant ideological films were not always followed by informants. Informants who reject the construction of women in the film are motivated by life experiences, new knowledge and the environment of the informants.
