Abstract

This study explores @coolestkev's disruptive strategy of sexualizing Dutch colonization on TikTok through feminist rhetorical criticism and postcolonial analysis. The goal is to understand how this approach reinforces or challenges traditional gender norms and reflects postcolonial power structures. The results show that @coolestkev strengthens traditional gender norms and romanticizes the colonial past, while response videos from other creators present strong counter-narratives through nationalism and collectivism. This analysis reveals the complexities of identity in colonized societies, including internalized heterosexism and social pressures surrounding masculinity

Abstract

This research addresses the rapidly growing trend of using pay later services in Indonesiain 2023, especially within the fashion sector. Shopee PayLater, one of the pay later services inIndonesia, has conducted sales promotions focused on enticing users with benefits such ascashback and other promotions, without providing education on the risks and obligations thatconsumers should understand before adopting the service. While this service offers benefits toconsumers in terms of meeting urgent needs, there are also notable risks, particularly concerningexcessive debt management, financial difficulties among the younger generation, and theescalating amount of unpaid debts within the pay later services in Indonesia.Using a positivist quantitative method, this research applies the Behavioral LearningTheory with the concept of Operant Conditioning to explain the influence of sales promotions,and the Risk Management Decision-Making Theory as a basis to understand the impact of riskperception on purchasing decisions. This study involved respondents aged 17-39 in theJabodetabek area who have been exposed to promotions and have either used or are currentlyusing Shopee PayLater. Regression analysis results indicate that sales promotions have a positiveinfluence of 14 percent on purchasing fashion products using Shopee PayLater, while riskperception has a negative influence of 28.2 percent. Consequently, Shopee PayLater needs tooptimize promotional messaging and enhance service security to manage consumer riskperception.

Abstract

The trend of using beauty products is increasing rapidly due to the emergence of awareness from the public to take care of beauty. This is also supported by the spread of e-commerce that carries the marketplace concept, including Shopee, Tokopedia, BliBli, and so on. One of the local cosmetic brands that uses e-commerce as its trading activity is Luxcrime. One of the Luxcrime sales categories that are in great demand by the public is Blur & Cover Two Way Cake. The problem that occurs is the number of complaints that arise from consumers regarding the quality of products and services on the Luxcrime Mall platform at Shopee. This study aims to determine the effect of product quality expectations and service quality on customer satisfaction with Luxcrime Blur & Cover Two Way Cake products. This study uses the explanaotri method with non probability sampling technique involving 100 respondents. The theory used is Expectancy Disconfirmation Theory as a foundation for understanding the effect of product quality expectations and service quality on customer satisfaction on Luxcrime Blur & Cover Two Way Cake products. The results of the research obtained through multiple linear regression hypothesis testing are that product quality expectations and service quality expectations have a simultaneous influence on customer satisfaction with a significance value obtained of 0.000. This means that every time there is an increase in the value of X1 and X2, there is also an increase in the value of Y so that the hypothesis can be accepted.

Abstract

Mobile Legends merupakan salah satu game online paling populer di Indonesia. Moonton selakupihak developer yang berasal dari Shanghai China, mulai melebarkan sayapnya ke Indonesia pada11 Juli 2016. Mobile Legends berkembang dengan begitu cepat, jumlah pengguna setiap tahunnyaselalu mengalami peningkatan, terdapat sebanyak 80 juta pengguna setiap bulannya sepanjangtahun 2022. Salah satu hal yang membuat Mobile Legends berkembang begitu cepat ialah strategiberiklan yang dilakukan oleh Moonton. Di sisi lain, pada tahun 2022 Moonton meraup keuntungansebanyak 13,2 juta USD dari belanja pemain, meningkat 1,5 persen dari tahun sebelumnya. Sekitar35,8 persen keuntungan di Asia Tenggara berasal dari Indonesia. Data tersebut menunjukkanbegitu masifnya pengguna melakukan aktivitas Mikrotransaksi. Maka dari itu, penelitian inimemiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui Hubungan antara Terpaan Iklan Mobile Legends dan IntensitasMikrotransaksi dengan Tingkat Kecanduan Game Online pada Gamers Remaja. Sampel yangditetapkan berjumlah 100 responden dengan kriteria usia 15-21 tahun yang aktif bermain MobileLegends dan berdomisili di Semarang. Penelitian ini menggunakan non-probability samplingdengan teknik pengambilan purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil nilaisignifikansi antara Terpaan Iklan Mobile Legends terhadap tingkat kecanduan game online padagamers remaja sebesar 0.020. hasil tersebut dikatakan signifikan jika hasil yang didapatkanmemiliki nilai signifikansi <0.05 dan nilai koefisien korelasi Kendall Tau-B sebesar 0.190 yangberarti kedua variabel tersebut memiliki hubungan yang sangat lemah dan mengarah positif.Artinya, semakin tinggi gamers remaja terpapar paparan iklan Mobile Legends, maka tingkatkecanduan game online pada gamers remaja juga mengalami peningkatan. Kemudian, dalam ujikorelasi hipotesis kedua, terdapat hubungan positif antara Intensitas Mikrotransaksi terhadaptingkat kecanduan game online pada gamers remaja menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0.016.Hasil tersebut juga menunjukkan signifikan dan nilai koefisien korelasi Kendall Tau-B sebesar0.209 yang artinya kedua variabel tersebut memiliki hubungan yang lemah dan mengarah positif.Artinya, jika aktivitas Mikrotransaksi yang dilakukan oleh gamers remaja mengalami peningkatan,maka tingkat kecanduan game online pada gamers remaja juga mengalami peningkatan.

Abstract

Women are the gender group that dominates the number of migrant workers in Indonesia. The significant increase in the number of women among migrant workers is directly proportional to the increase in the number of cases experienced by migrant workers. Online media as a provider of public space to monitor the power and representation of minorities should be able to provide news with a positive climate for women through the implementation of gender perspective journalism. The results of the research show that online media in Indonesia has implemented most of the gender perspective journalism indicators through the proportion of sensational diction in news titles, the proportion of news bodies that meet the journalistic code of ethics adopted from articles 4, 5 and 8, the proportion of diction used in body of news, and the proportion of female and male sources in the news. Of the 63 news stories analyzed, 39 news stories (61.9%) had titles that contained some sensationalist diction, 33 news stories (52.4%) had implemented a journalistic code of ethics that was relevant to gender perspective rules, and 30 news stories (47.6%) had used diction that gender perspective. In the resource element, the research results showed that 60.5% of the resource persons were male, while 39.5% of the resource persons were female. However, the number of categories implementing some indicators and implementing all indicators is not significantly different in the category of using stereotypical diction in news titles and body of news. Thus, online media has a record of creating a more balanced proportion of reporting in terms of diction selection.

Abstract

Film kebudayaan menjadi salah satu film yang cukup menaruk untuk diteliti. Batak sebagai salah satu suku dengan jumlah penduduk yang besar di Indonesia, namun keterwakilannya di dalam film sangat sedikit. Film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap merupakan salah satu film yang mengangkat tema kebudayaan Batak. Film ini merupakan salah satu karya dari Bene Dion Rajagukguk. Secara sederhana, film in menceritakan tentang dinamika di dalam keluarga Batak di antara generasi muda dan generasi tua, serta mengangkat fenomena konflik yang terjadi di dalam keluarga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana nilai budaya Batak direpresentasikan di dalam film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori representasi Stuart Hall teori relativisme budaya Ruth Benedict. Penelitian ini menerapkan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data simak catat danb observasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam menganalisis hasil temuan menggunakan analisis denotasi dan konotasi Roland Barthes Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap merepresentasikan nilainilai budaya Batak lewat 21 adegan yang telah dipilih dan sesuai dengan 9 nilai budaya Batak. Adapun bentuk representasi nilai budaya Batak ditunukkan lewat 3 cara, yakni lewat direpresentasikan lewat adat istiadat, direpresentasikan lewat figur, dan direpresentasikan lewat konflik. Film ini juga bukan hanya sekedar film komedi keluarga biasa, namun di dalamnya terkandung pesan-pesan untuk dapat hidup rukun di dalam keluarga serta tetap melestarikan nilai-nilai budaya Batak. Lewat hasil temuan, film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap berusaha mengungkap dinamika konflik antara orang tua dan anak, serta bagaimana peran nilai dalam mengatur dinamika tersesbut

Abstract

Various efforts have been made by Spotify to attract people to subscribe to Spotify Premium, such as offering different types of premium service packages with various benefits and informational services like Spotify Wrapped. However, the presence of Spotify Wrapped and the benefits of Spotify Premium have led to both positive and negative perceptions among the public. This research will analyze whether the perceptions of Spotify Wrapped and the premium benefits influence the interest in subscribing to Spotify Premium. The theory used in this research is the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The sampling technique used in this research is non probability sampling, with a sample of 100 respondents residing in DKI Jakarta. This research conducts hypothesis testing using multiple linear regression equations. The results show that the variables of perception towards 'Spotify Wrapped' and the premium benefits variables simultaneously influence the interest in subscribing to Spotify Premium with a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05. Additionally, the value of the coefficient of determination (R Square) shows a value of 0.116, which means that the perception values towards 'Spotify Wrapped' and the perception of premium benefits towards the interest in subscribing to Spotify Premium are 11.6%. The hypotheses proposed in this study are accepted, and the research findings are in line with the theory used in this study, where the two independent variables in this research can provide benefits to the public and increase the interest in subscribing.

Abstract

The romantic lives of children whose parents are divorced are often challenging due to their traumatic experiences. Divorce can diminish children's self-confidence in romantic relationships, particularly affecting females more frequently. This study aims to understand the experiences of adolescents from broken homes in the process of making commitments in romantic relationships. The research methodology employed is qualitative, using interpretative phenomenological analysis as a paradigm to understand five adolescent females from broken homes due to their father's infidelity. The findings indicate that, while remaining open to romantic relationships, one informant avoids binding commitments. Adolescents from broken homes go through three stages in making commitment decisions: acquaintance, approach, and integration of values and information. Difficulty in trusting others is a significant factor, stemming from the trauma of parental infidelity. In the acquaintance stage, they search for information using three strategies and assess it to avoid their partner's deception, proceeding cautiously. In the approach stage, all five informants easily terminate a relationship when encountering incompatibility. Not all informants disclose their family backgrounds, and they share their experiences with significant others for validation. In the integration stage, unwritten rules are formed, resulting in two commitment styles: moderate and casual.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology and social media has led to the emergence of various new job opportunities, shifting job trends towards the use of digital media. For video creators, animators, photographers, graphic designers, or influencers, the presence of the Instagram social media platform can be utilized to shape a self-representation that supports their work, while also serving as a space to freely express themselves. Within this perceived safe space, Instagram users sometimes share highly personal and sensitive information on social media. Therefore, awareness and knowledge of social media behavior are needed to minimize the risks that may arise from the freedom of expression and self-disclosure in the online world. This research aims to understand how creative workers manage privacy through the Instagram social media platform. The study employs qualitative research methods, an interpretive paradigm, phenomenological approach, and in-depth interview data collection techniques. In analyzing the unique experiences of the informants, the Communication Privacy Management theory and the concept of self-presentation in Dramaturgy Theory are utilized.The results of this research reveal how creative workers who are Instagram users strive to manage their privacy to shape an ideal self-image to support their work. In operating Instagram while considering information boundaries, creative workers engage in a series of stages ranging from observation, planning, categorizing information, implementing strategies, to monitoring their posts. This study also highlights that there are several criteria considered by creative workers to set their privacy boundaries in the effort of self-disclosure. Each individual has specific motives for uploading information, considering cultural aspects, social context, gender values, and weighing the risks and benefits as consequences of self-disclosure. Additionally, the ideal self-presentation on Instagram is also manifested by creative workers using strategies such as self-promotion and ingratiation.

Abstract

he anime Koe no Katachi is a character development movie themed, where the protagonist, Ishida Shouya, changes into a better personality after he bullies the deaf individual character, Nishimiya Shouko. This research aims to see how Ishida Shouya's character development process is depicted in the Koe no Katachi anime and find out the movie strategy/logic used in developing the protagonist's character. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with a narrative analysis method using the concept of The Positive Change Arc from K.M. Weiland to see the stages of Ishida Shouya's character development. Petrie & Boggs Character Identification Theory is used to analyze the character through the viewpoint of conflict and characterization. The results show that the movie uses three main strategies in developing its protagonist's character: (1) Bringing down the protagonist from a stable position, (2) Bringing up the character's redemption efforts after experiencing the fall, and (3) Bringing up the character's acceptance of reality. Researchers found some shortcomings: (1) Simplification of Karma in the Narrative, (2) Ignoring the Potential for Collective Recovery, and (3) Risk of Glorifying the Redemption of the Main Character. Nevertheless, overall, the Koe no Katachi anime successfully depicts an individual's journey of redemption through a complex and in-depth narrative.
