Abstract

This study examines spending experiences among K-Pop fans in Indonesia by distinguishing financial prioritisation, budget reallocation, coping-oriented spending, and emotional investment, while exploring their associations with selected respondent characteristics. An exploratory cross-sectional online survey was conducted among 164 K-Pop fans who had prior experience using a paid K-Pop artist-frame self-photo booth service. Four five-point Likert items were analysed separately, supported by descriptive statistics and Spearman rank-order correlations, with 16 primary correlations adjusted using the Holm procedure. Agreement was lowest for financial prioritisation during financial difficulty (8.5%) and higher for budget reallocation (32.9%), coping-oriented spending (60.4%), and emotional investment (50.0%). The perceived role of idols in consumption decisions was positively associated with financial prioritisation (ρ=.278), coping-oriented spending (ρ=.278), and emotional investment (ρ=.344), while monthly K-Pop spending was associated with financial prioritisation (ρ=.233) and emotional investment (ρ=.298). Income or allowance and fandom duration showed no significant associations after adjustment. The four spending experiences were positively interrelated, with correlations ranging from ρ=.397 to ρ=.577, yet remained conceptually distinct. These findings suggest that fandom-related expenditure should be understood through differentiated financial and affective dimensions rather than as a uniform form of excessive consumption. The study provides an empirical basis for examining how emotional meanings and financial practices intersect within contemporary K-Pop consumer culture.

Abstract

This study analyzes the market potential and financial feasibility of Roda Berkah Dimsum & Sushi in Lembang, West Java, using an integrated business-development framework. A descriptive single-case study was employed using secondary data from the 2026 business plan, supported by relevant literature and industry information. Market potential was assessed through Total Addressable Market, Serviceable Available Market, and Serviceable Obtainable Market, while financial feasibility was evaluated using NPV, IRR, Payback Period, PI, GPM, ROI, ROA, and ROE, complemented by sensitivity analysis. The estimated TAM reached IDR 38.86 billion annually, SAM IDR 7.77 billion, and SOM IDR 388.5 million. The required initial investment was IDR 107.7 million, with NPV of IDR 1,142,944,077, PI of 11.61, and Payback Period of 0.38 year. Projected GPM, ROI, ROA, and ROE were 65.20%, 226.18%, 72.44%, and 72.44%, respectively. All sensitivity scenarios remained feasible. The findings indicate favorable projected viability, although differences between SOM and first-year sales projections and between unit and annual margins require validation before major expansion decisions. These results provide evidence for integrated strategic decision-making by culinary MSMEs operating in tourism-oriented and competitive markets.

Abstract

The increasing competition in the coffee shop industry has intensified the need to understand customer loyalty beyond satisfaction with individual service encounters. This study examines how customer loyalty is constructed through the interplay between brand meaning and servicescape experience at Sukaluyu Coffee in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Adopting a qualitative interpretive case study design, the study collected primary data through semi-structured in-depth interviews and non-participant observations, complemented by documentary evidence concerning the coffee shop’s brand identity and physical environment. Data were analyzed thematically through familiarization, initial coding, categorization, theme development, thematic review, and interpretation, with triangulation, member checking, and an audit trail supporting analytical trustworthiness. The findings reveal four interconnected themes: brand meaning as a personally relevant experience, servicescape as a lived experience, brand–servicescape congruence as an interpretive mechanism, and customer loyalty beyond satisfaction. Customers constructed loyalty through accumulated experiences in which personal meanings, recurring activities, familiarity, and environmental experiences became interconnected. Brand–servicescape congruence strengthened perceptions of coherence between what the coffee shop represented and what customers experienced, supporting sustained preference and continued patronage. The study contributes to coffee shop and customer loyalty research by extending satisfaction-oriented perspectives toward a meaning–experience framework in which loyalty develops through personally relevant brand meanings and coherent servicescape experiences. The framework is interpretive and does not imply statistically tested causal relationships.
