Abstract

RMC and abuse in the delivery room are associated with negative experiences in childbirth and a poor maternal care quality index. Despite many advances in maternal and child health, there are still maternal and infant mortality rates worldwide. SDGs aim to reduce MMR to less than 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030. In Indonesia, the MMR data per 100,000 live births in January 2023 were around 305. This figure ranks Indonesia second in terms of the highest MMR cases in ASEAN. Objective: To explore childbirth readiness in third-trimester pregnant women and to explore the RMC provided by health workers during services. Method: This research design employs a qualitative approach, with 20 pregnant women participating in the focus group discussion (FGD) method and 6 midwives participating in in-depth interviews. The sampling technique is stratified random sampling of 6 midwife areas representing the Pringsewu area. Results: 10 themes and 35 sub-themes were obtained from the midwife's perspective, and 8 themes and 24 sub-themes from the pregnant woman's perspective. Data obtained from quantitative data with questionnaires and qualitative with interviews, indepth interview. RMC from the midwife's perspective are the midwife's authority, documentation, informed consent, referral, midwife's competence, service quality, midwife's experience, care needs, and midwife's responsibility. RMC from the pregnant woman's perspectives includes care according to needs, fairness and no discrimination, the right to information, confidentiality and privacy, protection from physical injury, dignity and respect, not being neglected.

Abstract

Mental health issues in adolescents, such as anxiety and depression, are a significant and growing global public health problem. The combination of health education and group therapy offers an opportunity to increase adolescents' understanding of mental health, reduce stigma, sexual problems and enhance self-esteem through positive interpersonal experiences within a group. This study explores the combination of health education and therapeutic group therapy for adolescents in addressing mental-emotional problems and pornography addiction in coastal areas. The research design used was a quasi-experimental study with pre and post tests without a control group. The sample size for comparing two means, with a 99% confidence interval and 90% power, resulted in a total sample size of 20. The inclusion criteria were: residing in a coastal area, being willing to participate in the study by signing an informed consent form, and being able to communicate effectively. The study used four questionnaires as data collection tools: the SRQ-20 (Self-Reporting Questionnaire-20), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem (RSE) questionnaire, the loneliness level questionnaire, and the pornography addiction questionnaire. Univariate analysis using frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test. Health education and therapeutic group therapy have an impact on emotional and mental problems, pornography addiction, and self-esteem. A combination of interventions, including Health education and therapeutic group therapy, may be recommended to strengthen protective factors in adolescents, particularly those in coastal areas.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of music therapy on the level of aggression in schizophrenia patients. The research method used was quasi-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test design. A total of 25 respondents were selected using accidental sampling techniques. The intervention was given in four music therapy sessions with a gradual duration of between 30 to 45 minutes per session. The level of aggression was measured using  the Buss and Perry Aggression Questionnaire. The Relationship Between Cognitive Function and Aggression in Schizophrenia Patients (Indonesia, 2023). This study was conducted at Ernaldi Bahar Hospital in Palembang and used the BPAQ to measure aggression and the MoCA-Ina to assess cognitive function.  The results showed a significant negative relationship between cognitive function and aggression (p = 0.04; r = -0.340), meaning that a decline in cognitive function is associated with increased aggression in schizophrenia patients.  Multivariate analysis showed that cognitive function scores influenced aggression scores (R² = 0.207; β = -0.730; p = 0.005).The results of the analysis showed a significant decrease in aggression levels after the administration of music therapy. A statistical test using the Wilcoxon Test  yielded  a P-value of < 0.001, which indicates that music therapy has a significant effect on reducing aggression levels in schizophrenic patients.

Abstract

This study examines the use of bead-stringing activities at Soeharto Heerdjan Hospital as a therapeutic intervention for children with intellectual disabilities, whose population continues to increase each year. Bead-stringing has not yet been incorporated into the hospital’s child rehabilitation program, highlighting the need for nurse play specialists to develop innovative therapeutic play approaches. In this study, play therapy was implemented through beading activities, in which children arranged beads or small objects into specific patterns. This activity is intended to stimulate hand–eye coordination and enhance fine motor skills. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test measurements was used. The sampling technique employed was purposive sampling, involving 36 children aged 5–6 years with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities who actively participated in the Kuas Biru program at the Child and Adolescent Unit of Soeharto Heerdjan Hospital, Jakarta. Fine motor skills were assessed using the Denver II Developmental Screening Test. The Wilcoxon test results showed a significant effect of bead-stringing play therapy on fine motor skills in children with intellectual disabilities, with a p-value of 0.000. The analysis demonstrated an increase in fine motor skill scores, from a pre-test mean of 2.14 to a post-test mean of 3.00. These findings indicate that play therapy using beading activities has a positive impact on improving fine motor skills in children with intellectual disabilities.

Abstract

Changes in modern consumption patterns show a tendency toward low daily dietary fiber intake. One potential solution to increase fiber intake while utilizing agricultural waste is through the use of red dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus polyrhizus). The objective was to analyze the effect of dragon fruit peel extract concentration and fermentation duration on the functional properties of nat a from palm sap. The study used a complete randomized design (CRD) with multiple factors. Factor x was the concentration of dragon fruit peel extract at 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%, and factor y was the fermentation duration at 7 days, 14 days, and 21 days, with each treatment repeated three times. Data analysis was performed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Significant differences between treatments were analyzed using DMRT. The results showed that the treatment with 40% dragon fruit peel extract concentration and a fermentation period of 14 days showed an increase in antioxidant response and good nutritional content with an antioxidant response of 110.5 ppm (moderate). There is an effect of concentration and fermentation duration on antioxidant response, fiber, thickness, pH, mold/yeast, and ALT, as indicated by a ρ value of 0.000 < α 0.05.

Abstract

The success of stroke management is largely determined by the speed of symptom recognition and the decision to access emergency care. Gaps in conventional education access and low health literacy make it crucial to compare the effectiveness of digital versus non-digital educational media. This study aims to analyze the comparative effectiveness of educational media on knowledge and attitudes towards handling strokes through a systematic review. A Systematic Review was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Literature searches (January 2021–September 2025) in PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect,  Taylor & Francis and Google Scholar identified 4.185 articles. Seven studies were included following a screening and eligibility assessment process. The designs comprised RCTs, quasi-experiments, and pre–post studies on adult community and family populations. Data were standardized, synthesized thematically, and quality-assessed using the JBI checklist. All studies reported significant improvements in the knowledge of stroke signs/symptoms (FAST) after interventions. Digital media (videos/animations, e-learning, web campaigns) more consistently improved quick-response attitudes and the intention to contact EMS compared to non-digital media (leaflets/flipbooks, lectures). Online campaigns and short videos significantly boosted FAST recognition by approximately 70–80% and fortified EMS activation intentions, with some respondents still opting for non-EMS routes. Non-digital media continued to be effective in low-tech environment infrequently used to gauge or alter actual behaviour. Both media types effectively enhance knowledge, but web-based media are superior in shaping rapid-response attitudes and intentions. Future programs should prioritize hybrid models that combine digital framework with face-to-face guidance and digital literacy training for patients, families, and healthcare providers to strengthen patient autonomy and digital health service efficiency.
