Abstract

The increasing number of hospitals in Jakarta reflects the high demand for healthcare services, which, in turn, may intensify competition. On the other hand, a 15% decrease in the number of returning patients during the 2023–2024 period at the outpatient unit of Sulianti Saroso Hospital indicates low patient loyalty. This study analyzes the relationship between the 7Ps marketing mix and patient loyalty at the outpatient unit of Sulianti Saroso Hospital. A quantitative, cross-sectional design was used, with 110 outpatients as respondents selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected using a valid and reliable questionnaire and analyzed using Chi-Square analysis. The research findings demonstrate a significant relationship between the 7Ps of the marketing mix and customer loyalty. Each element, product (p-value = 0.0001), price (p-value = 0.0001), place (p-value = 0.0001), promotion (p-value = 0.0001), people (p-value = 0.0001), process (p-value = 0.0001), and physical evidence (p-value = 0.0001) shows a statistically significant correlation. The study concludes that all components of the marketing mix positively and significantly influence customer loyalty, with the service process as the most dominant factor.

Abstract

This research focuses on the importance of the role of educators in shaping the professional character of nursing students, especially since this character is the basis for their readiness to face the demands of clinical practice. The purpose of this study is to explore students' experiences regarding how supervisors and lecturers affect the process of internalizing professional values. The study employed a phenomenological approach, involving ten students who underwent in-depth interviews to gain a more comprehensive understanding of their 10 experiences. The data analysis yielded five main themes: educator exemplars, mentoring in clinical simulations and practices, communication and team dynamics, affirmation of ethical values and professionalism, and challenges in applying professional character in real-life situations. The study's results indicate that the development of a professional character occurs through observation, direct guidance, intense interaction, and the inculcation of moral values by educators. In conclusion, educators play a crucial role in shaping students' professional identities, so that an exemplary and reflection-based learning approach needs to be strengthened in nursing education.

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a global health burden with increasing prevalence. Persistent hyperglycemia can lead to both microvascular and macrovascular complications. The patient's adherence to therapy, especially lifestyle modifications (diet and physical activity), is the main determinant of treatment success. The purpose of this case report is to analyze the basic concepts, key components, and application of the Nola J. Pender Health Promotion Model in the nursing practice of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This study employed a descriptive case report design. Data were collected through comprehensive nursing assessment, including patient interviews, physical examinations, anthropometric measurements, laboratory results, and review of medical records. Data analysis was conducted using a theory-based approach by systematically mapping patient data to the components of Nola J. Pender’s Health Promotion Model. The analysis showed that the Health Promotion Model effectively guided nursing interventions to promote positive health behaviors, such as physical activity, balanced nutrition, medication adherence, and stress management. This model provides a comprehensive framework that considers personal, interpersonal, and situational factors in the formation of health behaviors. Nola J. Pender's Health Promotion Model provides systematic guidance for nurses to identify factors influencing health behaviors and design holistic, client-centered interventions.

Abstract

Sleep disturbances are a common problem in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients, which can increase the risk of delirium, anxiety, and other physiological disorders. Therefore, non-pharmacological approaches are important, as these methods are considered safer and have fewer side effects compared to drug-based therapies. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions, such as earplugs, eye masks, classical music, counseling, and nursing bundles, on sleep quality in ICU patients. This systematic review analyzed 16 articles published between 2021 and 2025, retrieved from PubMed, Proquest, Sage Journals, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases. Studies meeting the inclusion criteria included randomized controlled trials (RCTs), quasi-experimental designs, or nursing interventions that used instruments to measure sleep quality such as the RCSQ, VSH, and PSQI. 984 articles were obtained and 16 articles were used. Data analysis was conducted narratively using a thematic synthesis approach. All analyzed studies demonstrated a  significant improvement in ICU patients' sleep quality after the interventions. The combination of earplugs and eye masks resulted in an average increase in sleep scores of approximately 25–40 points (p<0.001). Furthermore, the implementation of a nursing bundle successfully reduced the incidence of delirium by 15–28%, while the use of classical music and counseling was shown to reduce anxiety levels and improve patient vital signs. The environmental factors most likely to contribute to sleep disturbances were noise (71%), lighting (60%), and nursing procedures performed at night (49%). Non-pharmacological interventions have been shown to be effective in improving sleep quality and reducing the incidence of delirium and anxiety in ICU patients. Therefore, the routine implementation of the combination of earplugs and eye masks, along with an environmentally-based nursing bundle, is highly recommended as part of standard nursing practice in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Abstract

Type II Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic condition that requires long-term treatment.  Sedentary lifestyles and stress are the primary causes of its growing global prevalence.  Non-pharmacological therapies, such as physical activity and relaxation techniques, can aid in blood glucose regulation. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of combining walking exercise and autogenic relaxation in lowering blood glucose levels in Type II diabetic patients. A case study was conducted on a 50-year-old woman with type II diabetes mellitus for five years. The intervention combined walking exercise (30 minutes/session, three times a week) and autogenic relaxation (15–20 minutes/session, three times a week) for four weeks. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and glucometer measurements before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed by conducting a case study of nursing care. Fasting blood glucose levels fell from 500 mg/dL to 148 mg/dL, tiredness scores improved from 6 to 3, stress scores from 7 to 3, and exercise tolerance increased from 10 to 25 minutes of continuous walking.  These findings suggest improved glycemic management, endurance, and psychological well-being. Combining walking exercise and autogenic relaxation is an effective, simple, and low-cost nursing intervention to support blood glucose control in Type II DM patients.

Abstract

Digital technologies such as wearable devices, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and e-learning platforms are increasingly applied to enhance safety and emergency response in outdoor and mountain environments. However, evidence regarding their effectiveness, feasibility, and implementation remains limited and scattered across disciplines. This systematic review aimed to synthesize current findings on digital technologies supporting emergency preparedness and response in outdoor activities. Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, a comprehensive search was conducted across PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus dan sciencedirect, including grey literature, for studies published up to October 30, 2025. Eligible studies examined (a) wearable or mobile-based fall detection systems, (b) UAV-based search-and-rescue (SAR) applications, or (c) e-learning interventions for rescue personnel. Two reviewers independently performed study selection and data extraction. Risk of bias was appraised using appropriate tools according to study design (QUADAS-2, JBI, and MMAT). Due to heterogeneity and the small number of studies, a narrative synthesis approach following the SWiM framework was applied. Out of 161 records identified, three studies met the inclusion criteria. One simulation-based study on wearable fall detection reported 97.9% sensitivity and 99.9% specificity in recognizing fall events with real-time location tracking. A feasibility study demonstrated the operational potential of UAVs in avalanche search-and-rescue scenarios but lacked standardized performance indicators. An e-learning intervention among rescuers showed significant improvement in knowledge retention, especially among professionals compared to volunteers after 12 months. Overall, the methodological quality of included studies was moderate to low. Digital technologies show promising potential to improve emergency preparedness and response in outdoor and mountain settings. Nonetheless, the evidence remains preliminary due to limited sample sizes, heterogeneous designs, and simulation-based validation.

Abstract

Supervision of nurse competency in the operating room is an important component in ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and patient safety. However, in some hospitals, supervision is still not optimal, often unscheduled, using manual forms, and lacking proper documentation. This residency project aims to improve the effectiveness of tiered nurse competency supervision to enhance patient safety in the hospital's central surgical installation. This case study uses Kurt Lewin's planned change approach consisting of three stages unfreezing, moving, and refreezing combined with management functions: planning, organizing, staffing, actuating, and controlling. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, and questionnaires. Planned change began with problem identification, followed by Fishbone analysis to determine root causes. Several improvement strategies were developed, including forming a supervision team, creating a routine supervision schedule through Google Sheets, and developing five digital supervision instruments using Google Forms. A trial implementation was carried out. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to summarize respondent characteristics and key variables, while inferential analysis was used to examine variable relationships and support achievement of the research objectives. The implementation of digital-based tiered nurse competency supervision increased the effectiveness of supervision and supported more structured competency development. The formation of a supervision team, scheduled supervision activities, and digitized instruments improved supervision quality. Trial results indicated competent performance aligned with SOPs based on observation checklists. Digital supervision forms proved efficient and practical, facilitating implementation, simplifying documentation, and accelerating evaluation of supervision outcomes.
