Abstract

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) types 16 and 18 are the main causes of cervical cancer, which attack the cervix and lead to abnormal cell changes. One of the most effective preventive measures for cervical cancer is HPV vaccination. However, HPV vaccination coverage among women of reproductive age remains low and may be influenced by various behavioural factors. This study aimed to determine factors associated with HPV vaccination behaviour among women of reproductive age in Gunung Samarinda District in 2025. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Non-probability sampling was used, and the sample size was calculated using the Lemeshow formula, resulting in 30 respondents from a population of 1255 women of reproductive age. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire The reliability results show that Cornbach's Alpha value > R Table, so that the six questions are reliabl. Data analysis included univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test. The results showed a significant association between knowledge (p = 0.010) and media exposure (p = 0.031) with HPV vaccination behaviour. Meanwhile, no significant association was found between education (p = 0.180), occupation (p = 0.512), income (p = 0.554), and family support (p = 0.227) with HPV vaccination behaviour. Knowledge and media exposure were significantly associated with HPV vaccination behaviour among women of reproductive age.

Abstract

Obesity is a major public health problem that is closely associated with dyslipidemia and an increased risk of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Dietary fiber and probiotics have been widely explored as non-pharmacological dietary approaches to improve lipid profiles in obesity; however, evidence from experimental and clinical studies remains fragmented and requires systematic synthesis. This literature review aimed to synthesise current evidence on the role of dietary fiber and probiotics in improving lipid profiles under obese or metabolically compromised conditions. A literature search was conducted using Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect to identify relevant studies published between 2020 and 2025. Studies assessing the effects of dietary fiber or probiotic interventions on lipid profile parameters in animal models or human subjects with obesity or metabolic disorders were included. The initial search resulted in 274 articles, which were subsequently screened for eligibility based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. After screening, Six eligible studies met the inclusion criteria and were analysed qualitatively. The included studies consistently demonstrated that dietary fiber and probiotic interventions were associated with improvements in lipid profiles, including reductions in total cholesterol, triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, alongside increases in high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Several studies also reported concurrent reductions in body weight, visceral fat accumulation, or glycaemic parameters, indicating broader metabolic benefits. Dietary fiber and probiotics show potential as complementary, non-pharmacological strategies for improving lipid profiles in obesity. These findings support the development of functional food formulations incorporating fiber- and probiotic-based components.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is the gold standard for providing nutrition for newborns up to the first six months of life. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) recommend exclusive breastfeeding because it provides significant benefits for babies growth, development, and health, including optimal weight gain. In Indonesia, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding has not yet reached the national target (80%), despite extensive breastfeeding promotion programs. This study aimed to determine the weight gain of babies aged 3-6 months who were exclusively breastfed from birth. This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in December 2024 at the Kramat Jati Community Health Center, East Jakarta. The study included 30 babies aged 3–6 months who were exclusively breastfed from birth, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through interviews with mothers, anthropometric measurements of infant weight and length, and medical records. Univariate analysis was performed to describe the distribution of study variables. The results showed that most babies experienced weight gain in accordance with WHO growth standards. The average weight gain of babies aged 3-6 months who were exclusively breastfed was within the normal range.

Abstract

Inflammation is a defensive response that eliminates lesions caused by injury and can be induced by 1% carrageenan, leading to increased blood neutrophil, leukocyte, and platelet counts. Astaxanthin and vitamin E are antioxidants with potential anti-inflammatory properties; however, the effects of their combination remain underexplored. This study evaluates the impact of combined astaxanthin and vitamin E administration on neutrophil, leukocyte, and platelet counts in white male Wistar rats using a carrageenan-induced inflammation model with a Post Test Only Control Group Design. Thirty white male Wistar rats were selected using a simple random sampling method and randomly assigned into three groups: KN (normal), KS (disease, induced with 1% carrageenan), and KP (treatment, receiving astaxanthin 0.72 mg/kgBW and vitamin E 24.1 mg/kgBW with 1% carrageenan). Following treatment, neutrophil, leukocyte, and platelet counts were measured using a hematology analyzer and subjected to normality and homogeneity testing, followed by parametric and nonparametric analyses with post hoc testing. The results show that combining astaxanthin and vitamin E has an anti-inflammatory effect by lowering neutrophil, leukocyte, and platelet counts in carrageenan-induced male Wistar rats.

Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease characterized by neurogenic pain and cartilage degradation, with serum biomarkers (SP, NGF, COMP, and MMP-13) serving as indicators of pain signaling, tissue damage, and treatment effects. This study aimed to compare the effects of acupuncture and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) on neurogenic pain and cartilage degradation biomarkers in a rat OA model. A randomized post-test-only experimental study was conducted using 32 male Wistar rats selected by purposive sampling and randomly allocated into four groups (n=8/group): healthy control, OA control, OA+acupuncture, and OA+NSAID. OA was induced by intra-articular monosodium iodoacetate. Acupuncture was administered at ST35, SP9, and GB34 for 10 sessions, while the NSAID group received oral meloxicam. Serum biomarkers were measured by ELISA and analyzed using one-way ANOVA with Tukey’s HSD (p<0.05). Results: Significant differences were observed among all groups for each biomarker (p<0.001) with large effect sizes. Biomarker levels followed the pattern A < M ≈ S < K. Both treatment groups showed significant reductions compared to OA controls, with no significant difference between acupuncture and NSAID. Acupuncture and NSAID treatments produced comparable improvements in OA-related biomarkers, supporting multimodal therapeutic approaches for OA.

Abstract

Maternal mental health from pregnancy to the postpartum period represents a major public health concern with substantial implications for maternal well-being and early child development. Physiological and psychological changes during pregnancy increase vulnerability to anxiety, stress, and depression, particularly in settings with limited access to mental health services. Pregnancy dance has emerged as a non-pharmacological, mind–body intervention that may support maternal psychological well-being. Objective to examine the effect of pregnancy dance on maternal mental health from pregnancy through the postpartum period. A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design was applied. The study involved 32 pregnant women in the second and third trimesters who participated in a structured pregnancy dance programme conducted 2–3 times per week during pregnancy. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Mental health outcomes were assessed using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21) at three time points: before the intervention, after the antenatal intervention, and during the postpartum period. Statistical analyses were performed according to data distribution, with a significance level of α = 0.05. Significant reductions in depression, anxiety, and stress scores were observed following the pregnancy dance intervention (p < 0.001). Improvements in mental health were sustained into the postpartum period, with most participants classified as having a low risk of mental health disorders. The greatest reduction was observed in stress scores, followed by anxiety and depression. Pregnancy dance is an effective intervention for improving maternal mental health from pregnancy to the postpartum period. This approach offers a safe, low-cost, and feasible promotive and preventive strategy for integration into comprehensive antenatal care, particularly in areas with limited access to mental health services.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease with increasing prevalence and requires long-term adherence to therapy to prevent complications. Treatment adherence in diabetes patients remains a challenge, influenced in part by the patient's level of knowledge about the disease and its treatment. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge and adherence to medication therapy in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at Harapan Community Health Center, Jayapura Regency. This study used a non-experimental quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 50 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients selected using a total sampling technique. The research instruments used were the Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire-24 (DKQ-24) to measure the level of knowledge and the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8) to measure medication adherence. Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05 . The results showed that most respondents had a moderate level of knowledge (54%) and a moderate level of medication adherence (48%). Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and adherence to medication therapy in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients (p = 0.000). Respondents with a high level of knowledge tended to have better medication adherence.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period that is vulnerable to risky behavior, including promiscuous sex. Lack of knowledge about HIV/AIDS can increase the risk of unsafe sexual behavior, which can potentially lead to HIV/AIDS transmission in adolescents. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge about HIV/AIDS and promiscuous sexual behavior in adolescents. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 61 students majoring in Nursing Assistant at SMK YPKP, selected using an accidental sampling technique. The research instruments consisted of an HIV/AIDS knowledge questionnaire and a Guttman scale questionnaire on promiscuity behavior. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most respondents had sufficient knowledge about HIV/AIDS (78.7%) and negative promiscuity behavior (54.1%). Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between knowledge about HIV/AIDS and promiscuity behavior in adolescents (p-value = 0.000). All respondents with good knowledge (21.3 %) had positive promiscuity behavior. There is a significant relationship between knowledge about HIV/AIDS and adolescent sexual behavior. Good knowledge plays a crucial role in developing positive and safe sexual behavior.

Abstract

Human organ trafficking has emerged as a serious challenge at the intersection of health law, criminal law, and human rights in Indonesia. Despite the prohibition of organ commercialization under national legislation, the illicit trade in human organs continues to occur, indicating limitations in the existing legal framework and enforcement mechanisms. Aims: This study aims to analyze human organ trafficking as a health-related crime within the Indonesian criminal law system and to critically assess the adequacy of current legal regulations in addressing its complex medical, ethical, and human rights dimensions. The research employs an analytical–critical normative juridical approach. Relevant statutory provisions, including health law, criminal law, and human trafficking legislation, are examined through statutory, conceptual, and limited comparative approaches. The study relies on primary legal materials, scholarly literature, and international legal instruments, which are analyzed using qualitative legal analysis. The findings reveal that Indonesian law addresses organ trafficking through a fragmented regulatory framework, resulting in legal ambiguity and inconsistent enforcement. The absence of a distinct criminal offense for organ trafficking complicates the determination of criminal liability and often leads to disproportionate punishment of vulnerable donors while inadequately targeting organized networks and professional actors. Additionally, victim protection mechanisms, particularly in terms of medical aftercare and legal support, remain insufficient. The study concludes that comprehensive criminal policy reform is necessary to effectively address human organ trafficking in Indonesia. Explicit recognition of organ trafficking as a distinct health-related crime, integration of health law safeguards, and adoption of a victim-centered approach are essential to ensure legal certainty, proportional justice, and alignment with international human rights standards.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of academic anxiety and mild to moderate depressive symptoms among senior high school students has become a growing mental health concern. Limited access to formal counseling services, psychological stigma, and the need for culturally contextualized non-clinical interventions highlight the urgency of developing alternative approaches grounded in local wisdom. This study aimed to design and evaluate a Tri Hita Karana-based Yoga Mental Resiliensi (YMR) model as a promotive–preventive intervention to reduce anxiety and depression among high school students. The study employed a research and development (R&D) approach, encompassing needs analysis, model design, expert validation, and limited implementation testing. Data were collected through field observations, standardized anxiety and depression questionnaires psychological assessment using a standardized and validated instrument, namely the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales–21 (DASS-21), in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs) involving students, teachers, and relevant school stakeholders. The YMR model integrates three core components: physical postures (light-to-moderate asana), breathing techniques and mindfulness practices (pranayama and brief meditation), and positive affirmations combined with group discussions. The findings indicate that the YMR model demonstrates strong content validity, construct validity, and practical feasibility, and contributes significantly to improved emotional regulation, enhanced mental resilience, and reduced levels of anxiety and depression among students. In conclusion, Tri Hita Karana-based yoga through the YMR model represents an innovative, adaptive, and culturally relevant intervention to support adolescent psychosocial well-being in school settings.
