Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe the construction of Iḥsān and Rabbānī character from the perspective of the Concise Tafsīr of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Tafsīr al-Miṣbāḥ. The method used is library research, with the primary data sources being the Concise Tafsīr of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Tafsīr al-Miṣbāḥ. The data analysis employs Krippendorff's content analysis model with the following steps: unitizing, data simplification, coding, reduction, summarization, and narrating. The findings of this study indicate that the concept of Iḥsān (doing good or striving for perfection) and the Rabbānī character (God-centeredness) always go hand in hand. Obedience to Allah (the Rabbānī aspect) is demonstrated through good morals toward fellow human beings (the Iḥsān aspect). Both of these characteristics have been exemplified by the Prophets as enshrined in the Holy Qur'an. The findings of this study contribute to the development of hermeneutical methodology based on the Indonesian approach to exegesis, as well as the development and internalization of the concept of Iḥsān and the Rabbānī character within individuals, whether at home, in school, or in the community.

Abstract

This study arises from the urgency of addressing the modern ecological crisis through a holistic framework for sustainable environmental preservation. Its primary aim is to integrate the concept of ecosufism into the development of green technology to foster harmony between humans and nature. Employing an interdisciplinary method, the research synthesizes perspectives from Sufism (ecosufism), ecology, and green technology. This methodological approach enables a comprehensive understanding of the interconnection between Sufi spirituality, environmental ethics, and the implementation of eco-friendly technologies. This study is based on an extensive literature review encompassing works on Sufism, ecological philosophy, and contemporary green technology research. The findings reveal that core ecosufism principles such as khalīfah, amānah, isrāf, and mīzān serve as vital ethical foundations for responsible environmental stewardship. Integrating ecosufism into green technology offers a philosophical and moral framework that reinforces humanity’s role as khalīfah in protecting and sustaining nature. Consequently, technological innovation should move beyond technical efficiency to embrace spiritual values and profound ecological accountability, creating a synergistic relationship between science and spirituality in pursuit of environmental sustainability.

Abstract

Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, faces complex social, political, and religious challenges. Its ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity requires a leadership model that is not only effective in managerial terms but also capable of providing strong moral and spiritual guidance. In this context, the concept of prophetic leadership popularized by Kuntowijoyo and rooted in prophetic attributes becomes highly relevant. This research employs a library-based study with a qualitative descriptive approach. The primary source is the 2009 Ijtima Ulama of the MUI Fatwa Commission, supported by secondary sources such as books, scholarly articles, constitutional documents, and both classical and contemporary Islamic texts. The study focuses on prophetic values within the Ijtima Ulama's resolutions, its reasoning framework, and the contribution of prophetic leadership to Indonesia, particularly within the perspective of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah. Findings indicate that the 2009 Ijtima Ulama emphasized the obligation to elect leaders who are faithful, God-fearing, honest (ṣiddīq), trustworthy (amānah), communicative (tablīgh), competent (faṭānah), and committed to defending the interests of Muslims. This ruling is grounded in the Qurʾan, hadith, traditions of the Companions, uṣūl al-fiqh, scholarly opinions, and constitutional principles. The framework employed combines normative-theological reasoning with contemporary considerations, utilizing principles such as al-maṣlaḥah al-mursalah, sadd al-dharīʿah, istiḥsān, and istiṣḥāb. Prophetic leadership is thus positioned not merely as a pursuit of power, but as a model emphasizing morality, spirituality, and universal welfare. Within the maqāṣid al-sharīʿah perspective, it ensures the protection of religion, life, wealth, intellect, and progeny. Hence, prophetic leadership provides an inclusive, just, and responsive model of leadership for Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the stylistic features of the Qur'an in Surah Al-Naba’ through a stylistic analysis focusing on three principal elements of balāghah: ījāz, iṭnāb, and tashbīh, as interpreted by Muhammad Ali al-Ṣābūnī in Ṣafwah al-Tafāsīr. Previous studies on Qur'anic stylistics often prioritize rhetorical classification over analysis of how linguistic form functions to construct theological meaning, particularly within eschatological contexts. Addressing this gap, this research employs a qualitative method based on library research and content analysis to investigate how stylistic devices operate as meaning-producing elements rather than mere aesthetic features. The findings demonstrate that ījāz in Surah Al-Naba’ predominantly appears in the form of sentence omission (ījāz ḥadhfī), contributing to semantic density and rhetorical efficiency. Iṭnāb is manifested through deliberate repetition, reinforcing eschatological warnings and intensifying the progression of the discourse, while tashbīh especially tashbīh balīgh functions to concretize abstract concepts through implicit and evocative comparisons. This study contributes to Qur'anic stylistic studies by offering an integrated balāghī-tafsīrī reading that highlights the dynamic interplay between linguistic structure and semantic depth, thereby enriching contemporary approaches to the stylistic interpretation of the Qur'an.

Abstract

Eschatological teachings in the Qur'an and hadith are an important foundation in shaping human life orientation and moral responsibility. However, in contemporary religious practice, these teachings are often reduced to normative-doctrinal discourse that is separated from the everyday cultural experiences of society. This study addresses the lack of research on the Qur'an and hadith that analyzes how eschatological teachings are transformed and internalized through popular cultural media, particularly dangdut music. By focusing on the lyrics of Rhoma Irama's songs; Masa Depan (The Future), Kematian (Death), Sebujur Bangkai (A Corpse), Kiamat (The Apocalypse), and Hari Berbangkit (The Day of Resurrection), this study aims to analyze the forms and patterns of reception of eschatological teachings from the Qur'an and hadith in musical expression. This study is a qualitative study using descriptive-analytical methods. The research data, in the form of song lyrics, are described and analyzed using the theory of Qur'anic reception by tracing references to verses and hadiths, symbolic language strategies, and the function of meaning in song lyrics. The results of the study show that Rhoma Irama does not merely reproduce eschatological teachings normatively, but transforms meaning through three main patterns of reception, namely functional reception, exegetical reception, and aesthetic reception. This research contributes to the development of studies on the reception of the Qur'an by expanding the study of Islamic eschatology into the realm of popular culture, while also affirming music as a medium for reflection and internalization of the theological-eschatological consciousness of society.

Abstract

Digital technology has fundamentally changed the way that information is transmitted, interpreted, and analyzed. Social media platforms based on algorithms do more than just speed up the distribution of religious content; namely,  they also reconfigure epistemology through mechanisms of visibility, engagement, and emotional resonance, resulting in a conflict between traditional authenticity standards, such as isnād and matn, and digital popularity. The purpose of this study is to discuss the various ways in which hadis can be contextualized in online circulation, analyze the role of logic and economics in writing about religion, examine public hermeneutics in the context of participatory social media, and discuss the implications of epistemology with regard to hadis integrity. This research employs a qualitative approach using digital discourse analysis and virtual ethnography. The data includes 300 Indonesian-language videos from YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok that were collected purposefully between January and June 2024. The analysis is conducted through a triangulation of descriptive content analysis, multimodal critical analysis, and theoretical interpretation using Pierre Bourdieu's field theory, algorithmic power, and attention economy. The study's findings identify four primary types of digital content: persuasive soundbites, captions, argumentative paragraphs, and hybrid meme formats. These typologies prevent algorithmic curation hegemony from producing hybrid authority, a connection between digital modalities and symbolic knowledge. This study introduces the concepts of Algorithmic Hybrid Authority and Platform Epistemology as theoretical foundations to understand the reconfiguration of hadith authority in the digital age and highlights the importance of integrating digital media literacy with classical hadith disciplines.

Abstract

‘Arabi.

Abstract

Abstract
