Abstract

The variety of tools and equipment requires a modern and sophisticated safety management for practical works in a laboratory. It is susceptible to the risk of an accident if safety is ignored. Therefore, this study conducted a descriptive survey to assess perceptions, knowledge, and attitudes of students in the course of culinary about safety practices in culinary laboratories. The population consisted of 90 students from the first year until the fourth year, which comprises the entire study population involved in practical works in the laboratory. Nonrandom sampling using a purposive sampling technique used as the sampling method and involved 60 samples. The instruments were a questionnaire to obtain information. Data were collected and analyzed statistically. Based on the pilot study analysis, the reliability of the instrument was 0.91 categorized as high. Results showed that good safety practices give positive influence on knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of students towards safety practice in culinary laboratories. The study showed that a safe and orderly work culture is capable of creating disciplined and responsible attitudes.

Abstract

International experience helps people to obtain an excellent human capital which significantly plays a crucial role to predict individuals’ accomplishment both in academic and career. Therefore, this study purports to explore the psychological capital, social support, and career capital among Indonesian students who study in Taiwan. The participants consist of 120 students who were randomly selected and completed the online questionnaires. The findings of this study revealed that Indonesian students who study in Taiwan achieve an above average on their career capital, social support, and psychological capital. Furthermore, there were high and medium relationships among the three variables. It also demonstrated that students’ social support fully mediated the relationship between students’ career capital and psychological capital. Based on the research findings, conclusions and practical implications were provided.

Abstract

Kajian ini membahas kelayakan evakuasi saat keadaan darurat dan bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah spesifikasi, bentuk fisik, fungsi, tata letak serta komponen emergency exit pada bangunan pusat perbelanjaan di Yogyakarta telah memenuhi persyaratan kecepatan dan keamanan sesuai dengan Kepmen Pekerjaan Umum No.10/KPTS/2000, Permen Pekerjaan Umum No.26/PRT/M/2008, tentang Persyaratan Teknis Sistem Proteksi Kebakaran pada Bangunan Gedung dan Lingkungan, dan teori pendukungnya. Objek pengamatan dilaksanakan di dua lokasi Pusat Perbelanjaan, yang mempunyai klasifikasi berbeda, yaitu RM dan AP. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode observasi, interview dan dokumentasi. Selanjutnya dilakukan kajian evaluasi data lapangan dengan peraturan dan teori yang mendukung.  Pada 2 kasus bangunan pusat perbelanjaan di Yogyakarta, secara umum dalam perencanaan dan operasionalnya sudah mempertimbangkan aspek keamanan dan kecepatan dalam perencanaan tindakan evakuasi pada waktu terjadi keadaan darurat. Walaupun ada beberapa catatan untuk kesempurnaan sistem evakuasi pada bangunan tersebut, namun terdapat beberapa perbedaan kondisi emergency exit antara bangunan Pusat Perbelanjaan yang merupakan pengembangan dari bangunan pertokoan biasa (kasus RM), dengan gedung pusat perbelanjaan yang khusus direncanakan untuk fungsi itu (kasus AP) yaitu kondisi dan spesifikasi emergency exit nya ternyata lebih terencana dan lebih memenuhi syarat dibandingkan dengan kasus bangunan RM.

Abstract

Drafting competence using Computer Aided Design (CAD) is required for building projects. The basic competence of CAD courses is students can draw elevation houses with CAD. To improve the effectiveness of learning, it has been developed a CAD learning module. This study was aimed to identify the utilization strategy of the CAD learning module to improve self-regulated learning. It is believed that increasing self-regulated learning can improve learning achievement. This research method consisted of four cycles: plan, action, observation, and reflection. The data were in the form of quantitative and qualitative data. Data collecting techniques were observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques used mean scores and reflection. The target was the mean score of classical tasks which is bigger than 80 in high difficult tasks. The results of the study were (1) there were differences in learning achievement in applying the concept of self-regulated learning with a collaborative approach and an individualistic approach, (2) self-regulated learning concepts with collaborative approach is more appropriate for the CAD module-based learning, and (3) the concept self-regulated learning with collaborative approach can improve learning achievement.

Abstract

Gong Kebyar is one of the group of Balinese music that has five pelog tones which the playing technique using kebyar system. Gong Kebyar serves the instrumental performances, accompanying various types of dances, and accompanying Himdu's religious ceremonial activities in Bali. But not many young people can play the gong kebyar due to lack of adequate facilities. One effort that can be done is to utilize virtual reality technology as an instructional media for playing Gong Kebyar. The purpose of the study was to design and implement the design of Gamelan Gong Kebyar based on Virtual Reality.The development of the Gamelan Gong Kebyar Game based on Virtual Reality was implemented using the ADDIE model. The main feature of this game was playing the gamelan Gong Kebyar instrument, besides that there is a feature playing the instrument accompanied by the song so that the player could feel the situation of playing it in form of sekaa. The design is using a functional model which is UML (Unified Modeling Language) and implemented using programming language C# which edited by MonoDevelop-Unity. The results of this study is a Gong Kebyar application based on virtual reality which is operated with a computer and HTC VIVE VR device. All features in this application function properly. With this application, the community can learn to play Gong Kebyar with the results of the user response test obtaining a value of 91%, which means it is included in the excellent category.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were: (1) to describe the graduates’ profile of the Department of Fashion Design and Hospitality Education of 2010-2012 that is required by the National Accreditation Commision for Higher Education, (2) to examine the gap between the graduates’ competencies with the market needs. This tracer study is a descriptive survey study conducted from June to November 2012. The population were 241 graduates of the academic year of 2012. 87 samples were succesfully interviewed through telephone interviews. The instruments of this study was a questionnaire. Quantitative data was analysed using crosstab and percentages. While the qualitative data was analysed by categories. The results showed: (1) the graduates of the Fashion Design, the Hospitality, and the Make-up and Beauty Therapy Programmes who understand the job application process were 85%, 78%, and 86% respectively (b) the graduates of Fashion Design, Hospitality, and Make-up and Beauty Therapy Programmes with the less than 6 months waiting period before the first employement were 85%, 100%, 80%  respectively (c) The graduates of Fashion Design, Hospitality, and Make-up and Beauty Therapy Programmes who get job vacancies from advertisements and direct application to the company were 15% and 85%, 43% and 57%, 80% and 20% respectively. d. the graduates of Fashion Design, Hospitality, and Make-up and Beauty Therapy Programmes who are employed in the fields related to their study were 61.5% 71%, 60% respectively (2) The graduates’ competencies compared to the market needs were as follows: (a) Competencies required were integrity, mastery of science, English, information technology, communication, teamwork, self-development, mastery of skills, special expertise, leadership, and organizational management.  (b) 98% of the graduates have excellent performance in terms of integrity, expertise, science, English, information technology, communication, teamwork, and self-development.

Abstract

This study aimed to: (1) describe the best practices on the implementation of character education in Vocational High School models through self-development program, and (2) describe the best practices on the implementation of character education in Vocational High School models through school culture. The study was conducted through case studies at SMK N 2 Depok Sleman, SMK N 2 Wonosari, and SMK N 1 Bantul. This study employed quantitative and qualitative approaches (mix-methods). The data was collected using questionnaires, interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The data was analysed using the descriptive technique, both quantitative and qualitative. The results showed: (1) The implementation of scouting activities at SMK 2 Wonosari was intensive and very effective in instilling or developing the students’ positive characters, (2) The role of school culture in the character education at SMK 2 Depok Sleman focused on seven-characters values (3) The implementation of the Honesty Canteen at SMK 1 Bantul was effective to develop the value of honesty among the students.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purposes of this article are to reveal (1) the policy direction for the allocation and utilization of the education funding, and (2) the distribution model of the education budget from the goverenment to the schools in this local autonomy era. This research is based on literature study. The analysis results showed that (1) the policy direction for the allocation and utilization of education funding still need to be improved in case of its quantity to fulfill the mandate of Law No.20 Year 2003, i.e. 20% from State Budget (APBN) and Local Budget (APBD) excluding salaries and specific-administrative school, (2) Generally, the distribution model of education funding from the central government in the forms of block grant, deconcentration (including BOS/BKM) and from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Provincial Budgets and Local Budget were still feasible for the distribution of education funds to schools with several improvements, especially for the empowerment of the Provincial Education Department and the Education Department of City/ district to participate as an advisor and controller of the implementation of school programs. Abstract

Perubahan kurikulum dari berbasis isi menjadi kurikulum berbasis kompetensi (KBK) menuntut profesionalisme dari berbagai pihak yang berhubungan dalam proses belajar mengajar (PBM) yang meliputi: guru/dosen, mahasiswa, metode pembelajaran, media, bahan ajar, dan lain sebagainya. Semua komponen tersebut harus saling mendukung dan saling melengkapi agar proses belajar mengajar dapat tercapai dan siswa dapat memiliki kompetensi yang ditetapkan. Lesson Study adalah salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan proses dan hasil pembelajaran melalui pengkajian pembelajaran secara kolaboratif oleh sekelompok guru/dosen dan berkelanjutan berlandaskan prinsi-prinsip kolegalitas dan mutual learning untuk membangun learning community. Tujuan dari pembelajaran Lesson Study adalah: (1) Meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang materi ajar, (2) Meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang pembelajaran (3) Meningkatkan kemampuan mengobservasi aktivitas belajar (4) Semakin kuatnya hubungan kolegalitas, (5) Semakin kuatnya hubungan antara pelaksanaan pembelajaran sehari-hari dengan tujuan jangka panjang (6) Semakin meningkatnya motivasi untuk berkembang dan (7) Meningkatnya kualitas RPP. Pelaksanaan Lesson Study dapat dilakukan melalui 3 (tiga) tipe; (1) Lesson Study berbasis sekolah (2) Lesson Study berbasis MGMP (3) Lesson Study berbasis sekolah yang berdekatan (4) Lesson Study berbasis program studi atau jurusan pada perguruan tinggi. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purposes of this research are to reveal (1) the implementation of Quality Management System (QMS)of ISO 9001: 2008 in State Vocational High School 2 of Pengasih Kulon Progo, (2) the factors that support QMSof ISO 9001: 2008 in State Vocational High School 2 of Pengasih Kulon Progo, and (3) the factors that disturb theimplementation of ISO 9001: 2008 in State Vocational High School 2 of Pengasih Kulon Progo.This study belongs to evaluation research which employed Context model, Input Process, and Product (CIPP).This research was conducted in State Vocational High School 2 of Pengasih Kulon Progo. The data resourceswere the school principal, the representative of Quality Management, the coordinator of School Counseling Guidance, the head of administrative section, library coordinator, and the students. The research instruments werequestionnaire, interview, and documents. Validation technique was by using triangulation, i.e triangulation data,situational data, and data gathering method. Data analysis techniques were qualitative data analysis based onMiles, Huberman dan Spradley, i.e. data analysis with data components which covered data reduction, data display,and conclusion drawing/ verification.The result of the research showed that (1) the implementation of QMS of ISO 9001: 2008 in State VocationalHigh School 2 of Pengasih Kulon Progo had been successful by considering the accomplishment the schoolqualityobjectives. In addition, the implementation of QMS of ISO 9001: 2008 for each component showed ahigh accompolishment, with an average score above 90%, (2) the supporting factors of QMS of ISO 9001: 2008implementation in State Vocational High School 2 of Pengasih Kulon Progo consisted of human resources, RSBIfund, facilities, students high reading interst, provision of the relevant books and magazines for the students, (3)the obstacle factors of QMS of ISO 9001: 2008 implementation in State Vocational High School 2 of PengasihKulon Progo consisted of limited fund, students’ mistake, less publication. Also, the document writing in workingunits were not match with the format of QMS of ISO 9001: 2008, the workload was too high, and there was suddenpersonnel replacement as well as limited area.Keywords: Quality Management System (QMS) of ISO 9001: 2008
