Abstract

This study aims to know the quality of: (1) planning, (2) organizing, (3) actuating, and (4) controlling of mechanical engineering workshop management at SMK in Purworejo Regency. This study is a quantitative study with survey method. The respondents of this study were the practical lesson teachers of mechanical engineering SMK in Purworejo Regency. The data collection techniques were questionnaire, interview, and observation. The data analysis technique used was descriptive statistics. The results showed that: (1) the planning has a good quality with a mean of 2.961; (2) the organizing has a good quality with a mean of 2.947; (3) the actuating has a good quality with a mean of 3.207; and (4) the controlling has a good quality with a mean of 2.874.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the effect of the teacher professionalism and the students' learning motivation on the learning effectiveness of the students in Vocational High School (SMK) Negeri 2 Wonosari. The study used a survey method with ex post facto approach. The population consists of 420 students of SMK 2 Wonosari from the Program of Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Automotive Engineering. The sample was selected using random sampling technique. The data is analyzed using Multiple Linear Regression analysis. The results point out that most students’ perceptions on the level of teacher professionalism on productive subjects belongs to medium category, student learning motivation is in medium category, and the student learning effectiveness on productive is categorized into medium category. Teacher professionalism and student motivation have positive impact or is significant on the learning effectiveness of the students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji penggunaan asbuton sebagai filler dalam campuran SMA beserta pengaruhnya terhadap karakteristik marshal yang meliputi: VITM, VFWA, Stabilitas, flow dan MQ. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan menguji penggunaan asbuton sebagai filler dalam campuran SMA. Variasi kadar asbuton sebagai filler dibuat 4%, 4,5%, 5%, 5,5% dan 6%. Setiap varian dalam penelitian ini menggunakan 3 benda uji sehingga jumlah sampel adalah 15 buah. Uji menggunakan Aspal yang digunakan Aspalt AC 80/100. Filler yang digunakan Asbuton mikro B30. Kadar aspal yang digunakan ditetapkan sebesar  7%. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa: (1) nilai VITM akan mengalami penurunan seiring bertambahnya kadar filler asbuton mikro, (2) penambahan filler asbuton kadar 4 – 5% akan meningkatkan nilai VFWA , namun pada kadar filler 5,5% dan 6% akan menurunkan nilai VFWA karena filler yang digunakan terlalu banyak sehingga persentase bitumen terhadap total aspal dalam campuran juga semakin besar, (3) penggunaan asbuton mikro filler pada campuran SMA memberi pengaruh menurunnya nilai stabilitas (4) penambahan filler asbuton mikro akan menaikkan nilai flow, hal ini terjadi karena dengan penambahan asbuton mikro kandungan aspal pada campuran akan bertambah, dan (5) nilai MQ mengalami penurunan seiring dengan bertambahnya kadar filler.

Abstract

This study determined the impacts of the implementation of characters-based collaborative learning model on the students’ attitudes and achievement in the course of machining process. This experimental study was conducted in the fitting and machining workshop at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The population consisted of the students who were taking the course of Complex Machining Process totaling 85 students. The samples included 33 students who were determined by purposive sampling technique. The experiment was carried out by the posttest-only control design. The instrument validation was conducted by expert judgment. The data in this study were analyzed using descriptive analysis and t-test with significance level of 0.05. The results revealed that: (1) the attitude of the students in the model class was better than the conventional class, and (2) the students of the model class performed better achievement in the course of Machining Process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang bertujuan meningkatkan prestasi belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Matematika Lanjut. Penelitian ini juga akan mencoba menemukan salah satu model pembelajaran yang tepat dan diharapkan dapat meningkatkan prestasi belajar mata kuliah Matematika Lanjut mahasiswa program non-reguler. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian eksperimen dengan subyek penelitian seluruh mahasiswa Program Studi Teknik Otomotif Jenjang Diploma Tiga (D3) Program Non-Reguler yang menempuh mata kuliah Matematika Lanjut pada semester genap tahun akademik 2007/2008 berjumlah 72 orang terbagi menjadi dua kelas, yaitu kelas E sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan pembelajaran menggunakan modul dan lembar kerja dengan soal latihan berjenjang dan kelas D sebagai kontrol dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Data-data prestasi hasil belajar yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif menggunakan uji – t (t–test) satu arah.Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) prestasi belajar matematika lanjut dengan pembelajaran menggunakan modul dan lembar kerja dengan soal latihan berjenjang lebih baik dibanding yang tanpa lembar kerja dengan soal latihan berjenjang, (2) pembelajaran menggunakan modul  dan lembar kerja dengan soal latihan berjenjang dapat meningkatkan prestasi belajar matematika lanjut mahasiswa, sehingga model pembelajaran ini diharapkan dapat dijadikan alternatif  untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah lain yang sejenis.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the significance of difference in achievement between the students taught using the Problem Based Learning with Gallery Project and the Expository Learning as well as those having an internal and external locus of control, along with its interaction. This quasi-experimental study involved 52 students, randomly sampled. The methods of data collection were observation, non-test, and test. The method of analysis was a two-way ANOVA. The result of this study indicated that: (1) there was a significant difference in achievement between students taught using the PBL with Gallery Project and those taught using the Expository Learning; (2) there was no significant difference between students having an internal locus of control and those having an external locus of control on basic work of automotive engineering in a vocational high school; and (3) there was no interaction between the PBL with Gallery Project and locus of control level toward student achievement.

Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are required to face a fast-changing and unpredictable situation or condition in the future. This study describes the HOTS profile of Vocational High School (VHS) students in Surakarta and its correlation with the work readiness in the field of mechanical engineering. The students’ HOTS data were collected through the lathe technique examination, which has been tested empirically and validated by the subject matter. The result of the study showed that the HOTS profile of VHS students of mechanical engineering categorized as high, moderate and low were 36.81%, 18.68%, and 44.5% respectively. The higher thinking level of VHS students showed that students' work readiness was also higher. This means that HOTS was related to psychological, physical, and experiential aspects of the students. The result of HOTS profile could be used by the VHS teachers as the  basis to provide high quality lessons to produce graduates equipped with HOTS and better competitiveness and professionalism in workplaces.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan isi/materi mata kuliah Teknologi Kendaraan Lanjut (TKL) di Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Otomotif Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. TKL merupakan salah satu mata kuliah yang dikembangkan oleh Jurdiknik Otomotif FT UNY untuk mewadahi perkembangan terkini teknologi otomotif yang akan mulai diberlakukan pada tahun ajaran 2009/2010.Permasalahan di atas dicari jawabannya dengan mengembangkan konsensus dari expert panel yaitu dosen dan praktisi bidang otomotif menggunakan metode Delphi. Metode Delphi adalah suatu metode yang digunakan untuk memperoleh pendapat dan konsensus dari sekelompok ahli (expert) secara sistematis melalui serangkaian kuesioner tanpa harus mempertemukan mereka secara langsung/tatap muka. Dua putaran Delphi akan digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dan mengembangkan konsensus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknologi terbaru di bidang otomotif yang harus diberikan kepada mahasiswa berdasarkan konsensus dari para ahli di bidang otomotif adalah: (1) Common rail, (2) ASV (Advanced Safety Vehicle), (3) Intellegent Tester seri 2, (4) Hybrid System, dan (5) Smart Entry System.

Abstract

The problem primarily faced by vocational education institutions is a gap between skills taught at schools and skills required by the industries. This leads to the increasing unemployment rate of Vocational High School graduates. Thus relevant curriculum is required to satisfy the industry demands. This study aimed at analyzing the relevance of the productive course of hair beauty in Vocational High Schools to the job requirements in beauty salons in Padang. This study was qualitative descriptive. The data collection used interviews, observation and documentation. The data collection instruments consisted of observation sheets and interview guidelines. The data were analyzed using the stages of data reduction, presentation and conclusion. The results showed positive relevance of the productive course of hair beauty in Vocational High Schools to the job requirements in beauty salons in Padang. The skills learned in the schools were adequately relevant with the skills required by beauty salons, since from thirteen productive lessons taught in the schools, eleven of them were implemented and used in the workplaces.

Abstract

Programming refers to a set of processes of writing, testing and correcting the program code aimed at creating a program that can do certain works in accordance with the programmer’s instructions, it requires the mastery of algorithms, logic and programming languages. This study discusses the concept of programming skills to develop problem solving skills, which focuses on secondary school students. Various activities allow students to collaborate and develop problem solutions. Some previous studies suggest that students can obtain knowledge and programming skills through formal and non-formal education even though formal education shows better results of students’ attainments. Given a basic programming skills, students are expected to have a high level of reasoning for their better problem solving skills to solve complex problems using computers through an integrated approach between thinking skills and computational thinking (CT). Computer programming has the effect of reasoning abilities for students, problem solving and self-efficacy. Currently, programming-based computation has been introduced in school curriculum at different levels. Consequently, teachers are required to teach relevant materials relevantly to the current curriculum.
