Abstract

ABSTRACTThis reserach aims at revealing the influence of the use of diagnose chart toward the learning outcomes among the students of Automotive Engineering Faculty of Engineering Yogyakarta State University on vehicle diagnosis course, especially on electrical part. It covers : (1) the skills to determine problem indication, (2) the identification skills for problem probability, (3) the skills to examine analysis result, (3) the skills in drawing conclusions. This reserach can be catagorized as Non Equivalent Control Group Design. The population was the automotive engineering students who are participated in vehicle diagnosis course on odd semester at academic year of 2012/2013. The research sample was from D1 class as the control group and D2 class as the experimental group. Data gathering techniques was by measuring the learning result from posttest. The obtained data were analyzed from by using independent sample T-Test after the prerequirement test. The research results showed that (1) the use of diagnose chart on vehicle electrical system increased the lerning outcomes (24.31%), and (2) the use of diagnosis chart  on vehicle electrical system increased the students’diagnosis skills, it can be seen from : (a) the improvement of students’ skills to determine problem indication properly with explicit disclosure, (b) the improvement of students’ identification skills for problem probability based on proper logical and theoritical thinking, (c) the improvement of students skill to confirm the analysis results through correct investigation and measurement in a time efficient way, (d) the improvement of students skills in drawing conclusions from their analsysis result.Keywords: diagnose chart, vehicle diagnosis, vehicle electrical system

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan skala sikap differensial semantic terhadap fisika Jurusan Teknik Mesin. Skala differensial semantik adalah jenis pertanyaan survey dimana responden diminta untuk merata-rata pendapatannya pada skala linier antara 2 titik, yang secara teoritis ada 7 tingkatan. Skala sikap differensial semantic ini mempunyai 3 ukuran yaitu evaluasi, potensi dan aktivitas. Skala ini diujicobakan 2 kali terhadap 116 mahasiswa Teknik mesin Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ). Metode yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode pengembangan skala dengan menggunakan pendekatan respons. Pada uji coba tahap pertama, hasilnya mengindikasikan bahwa ketiga faktor diintisarikan dari data yang diperoleh menggunakan analisi komponen penting metode eksplorasi, sejalan dengan faktor pengukuran. Metode konfirmasi dari Maximum Likelihood yang mengukur kebaikan dari ketiga faktor, menemukan indeks signifikansi pada tingkat 62, 689. Hal ini mengindikasikan validitas korelasi model ketiga faktor. Untuk menentukan reliabitas instrumen digunakan Theta reliabilitas (o= 0.7965). Pada uji coba kedua, validitas konstruk juga ditentukan dengan menggunakan analisis faktor. Tiga faktor juga diintisarikan dari metode eksplorasi PCA. Metode konfirmasil ML diterapkan untuk menguji kebaikan ketiga faktor dan indeks tes yang diperoleh 60,978 yang juga signifikan. Ketiga faktor dari pengintisarian juga mendukung pengukuran teori seperti pada uji coba pertama. Konsistensi internal Theta yang diperoleh adalah o= 0.7777 dapat disimpulkan bahwa kuesioner yang mengukur sikap mahasiswa terhadap Fisika mempunyai validitas konstruk yang sesuai menggunakan skala yang berbeda. Namun demikian , dibutuhkan uji coba lebih lanjut untuk membakukan instrumen ini.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aims at revealing: 1) the students’ interst in continuing their study in health nursing expertisecompetency among IX Grade of Junior High School; 2) the direct effect of work opportunity knowledge, familyculture, self-understanding, and students’ economic background towards their interest in continuing their studyin health nursing expertise competency; 3) the indirect effects of work opportunity knowledge and the students’economic background toward their interest in continuing their study in health nursing expertise competency. Thepopulation of this research was IX Grade students of Junior High School who were officially registered in the secondsemester in the academic year of 2011/2012. The sample of the research was 248 students with proportional randomsampling technique. The research data were collected by using questionnaires. The results of this research showedthat (1) The students’ interest of IX Grade Junior High School to continue their study in health nursing expertisecompetency can be catagorized as high with average score of 59.02; (2) there were positive and significant directeffects of work opportunity knowledge, family culture, self-understanding, and economic background of the studentstoward their interest in continuing the study in health nursing expertise competency. (3) there were indirect effectsof work opportunity knowledge and economic background among IX Grade students of Junior High School towardtheir interest in continuing their study in health nursing expertise competency.Keywords: continuing study, health nursing, students interest.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah  mengidentifikasi  kesesuaian kompetensi kelompok mata kuliah  proses pemesinan pada Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin terhadap materi uji kompetensi ketrampilan  pemesinan menurut NIMS, dan mengidentifikasi kesesuaian materi ajar praktek proses pemesinan pada jurusan pendidikan teknik mesin terhadap materi kompetensi ketrampilan pemesinan menurut NIMS. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian analisis Isi (content analysis). Subyek penelitian ini adalah semua bahan ajar proses pemesinan di Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin FT UNY, yang meliputi hand out, job sheet, diktat, bahan ajar dan data mesin perkakas, kondisi mesin dan alat yang ada di bengkel mesin . Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik dokumentasi di arsip jurusan maupun di web (www.nims-skills.org). Dokumen yang dikumpulkan yaitu : kompetensi dan  materi ajar proses pemesinan, dan kompetensi/ materi uji ketrampilan dari  NIMS. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis kuantitatif, dengan menghitung persentase kesesuaian materi ajar proses pemesinan Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin dengan standar uji ketrampilan NIMS. Hasil penelitian adalah : kompetensi proses pemesinan yang diajarakan di Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin belum memenuhi semua standar kompetensi NIMS. Pada kompetensi Level I memenuhi 8 kompetensi dari 9 kompetensi yang ditetapkan. Pada Level II memenuhi 3 kompetensi dari 8. Sedangkan pada Level III belum ada kompetensi yang diajarkan ; dan  materi ajar yang diajarkan di jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin untuk mencapai kompetensi yang telah dipenuhi ada kekurangan pada :materi ajar gerinda, freis vertikal, CNC, EDM, proses bubut komplek dan freis komplek, hand lapping, dan bandsawing.

Abstract

This study aims to identify teacher competency needs and develop a local wisdom-based 4-ON (vision, action, passion, and collaboration) model in the competencies of machining technique in vocational secondary schools. The 4-ON model is a way to examine the professionalism of teachers in vocational secondary schools. The type of study is research and development, using the Richey and Klein model. The subjects are 26 vocational teachers of machining techniques. The data collection uses questionnaires and documentation. The questionnaire instrument is declared valid by 3 experts in content and tested with reliable results with a value of 0.82. The data analysis is quantitative descriptive. The study of the research and development are: (1) the teacher need for 4-ON (vision, action, passion, and collaboration) 79.81% response, the implementation of the local wisdom in learning 78.13% response, and six competencies machining technique expertise 80.48% response; (2) the local wisdom-based 4-ON model in the competencies of machining technique goes through 3 stages, namely development, process, and output for a result the professional and competent teacher.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine differences in the level of metacognitive awareness and learning outcomes of students who learn through problem-based learning model-assisted blended learning on technical drawing material as a reflection towards new normal era education. This study used a test instrument and metacognitive questionnaire with the results of a validity level of 92.58% and the Alpha Cronbach reliability coefficient was categorized as high with a score of 0.876. The research sample was carried out at the state of vocational high school in two classes. Experimental classes learned with a problem-based model were aided by blended learning and a control class learned through a problem-based model. The results showed a significant difference in cognitive domain learning outcomes in the experimental class and metacognitive awareness of students in the two research classes so that this learning model could be used as a reflection in the learning activities of the new normal era.

Abstract

Social distancing policy is applied during the Covid-19 virus pandemic including in Batik Professional Certification Institution in Indonesia. The management should provide services for the participants without meeting them directly. This study aims to reveal the management of Batik competence tests during the Covid-19 virus pandemic. The observation focused on the performance of the administrative staff, assessors, and management staff of the Batik Professional Certification Institutions (PCI). This is a qualitative study. The data were collected through questionnaires distributed to the participants, assessors, and administrators. The research concerns on the role and impact of the use of information system management in the interaction between prospective assessment, participants, assessors, and management of PCI in the professional certification competency test (PCCT). The findings showed that the use of information systems to manage vocational assessment has been effective to inform the assessment schedule to the assessor and participant, bridging the assessment reports, and reminding license expiration to management, so the management has an efficient way to manage the information with this system automation.

Abstract

This study investigates the psychological concept that affects the intention of vocational high school students to become entrepreneurs. This study aims to predict the most effective psychological step to demonstrate the psychological characteristics of entrepreneurs of vocational high school students. Participants in this study were vocational high school students in the Department of Mechanical and Building Engineering. 206 students were selected as the sample of the study with a random sampling technique. This study employed a set of questionnaires contains a measurement scale consisting of entrepreneurial capacity, entrepreneurial belief, entrepreneurial consciousness, entrepreneurial motivation, and entrepreneurial determination. Statistical analysis was performed with Confirmatory Factorial Analysis (CFA) to determine whether the fit model is unidimensional and to determine the significance value measurement model independently, assisted with statistical software Mplus. The results revealed that entrepreneurial belief and motivation are the highest factors. The results also reported that there is a significant difference in entrepreneurial belief in different gender. The entrepreneurial belief characteristics of male students were higher than female students. This implies that there is a need to emphasize psychological entrepreneurship education that leads to increased self-confidence in female students. In addition, it is necessary to do psycho-education to prepare students as entrepreneurs.

Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic impacts on vocational education. Lectures that were originally conducted face-to-face learning are diverted to online learning to avoid the spread of the pandemic. Online learning is very difficult to apply for courses conducted in the laboratory. This study discusses vocational students’ responses to the practice of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data were collected through a questionnaire created on Google form consisting of 20 questions. The questionnaire used a Likert scale to find out the attitudes and students’ perceptions of the implementation of online learning. The number of research respondents was 107 people consisting of 45 respondents from the West Aceh State Community Academy and 62 respondents from Lhokseumawe State Polytechnic, Aceh, Indonesia. The results of this study found that 59.81% of students disagree with online learning. The results also showed a score of 76.95% of the students agree that internet access is the main obstacle in online learning. However, students’ satisfaction with the current online learning system for students shows a score of 67.50%. Opinions related to online learning from 107 respondents showed that 45.42% of them less agree if online learning is still applied when the COVID-19 pandemic ends.

Abstract

One of the enduring issues and problems in Indonesia is the link and match between vocational secondary schools and the world of work in terms of quantity, quality, location, and time. This research focuses on the first issue i.e. quantity of vocational secondary school graduates in terms of supply and demand. The objective of this research was to explore the proportion of general secondary and vocational secondary school students, to find out the unemployment rate of both school types, and to identify policy alternatives to reduce the unemployment rate of vocational secondary school graduates. To achieve the objective, a quantitative descriptive research method was adopted. The research found that the national average proportion of students from general secondary schools and vocational secondary schools was 62.92%:37.08% in 2016 and 63.39%:36.61% in 2019. The national average unemployment rate of both school graduates was 8.72% and 11.11%% respectively in 2016, and 7.92% and 10.42% respectively in 2019. Thus, the unemployment rate of vocational secondary school graduates was higher than those of general secondary school graduates. In Java Island, however, where the population is about 40% of the Indonesian total population, the percentage of vocational secondary students increases significantly from 44.34%:55.66% in 2016 to 39.91%:60.09% in 2019. For this reason, a new policy is needed to reduce the unemployment rate of vocational secondary school graduates in the form of a moratorium for vocational secondary school expansion, particularly in Java Island. If for some reason, there is a need to build new vocational secondary schools in a certain area, it must be based on demand-driven guided by labor market signals. More comprehensively, a policy shift is required to reduce the unemployment of graduates from secondary vocational schools.
