Abstract

(Title: The Effectiveness of CIRC Learning and Sinectic Models on Description Text Writing Skills  Class VII Students of SMPN 12 Magelang).  The purpose of this study was to identify comparison of the effectiveness between: (1) the use of CIRC; (2) the use of synectics; and (3) the use of CIRC and synectics methods in the teaching of descriptive text writing skill to junior secondary school students. The experimental design that is used is the pretest-post test control group design with two experimental groups, where treatments of CIRC and synectics methods were applied to each group, and one control group got the conventional learning method. The sample of this study was all  of grade 7 students of Junior Secondary School 12 of Magelang Municipality.. The data were collec­ted through assessment rubrics of descriptive text writing skills. The instrument was validated through the content validity with expert judgement. The data were analysed by Anova followed by Scheffe test. The research findings showed that: (1) CIRC method was more effective than conventional  teaching method; (2) the synectics method was more effective than conventional learning method; and (3) the CIRC method was  more effective than synectics method.Keywords: effectiveness, learning, circ, synectics, descriptive text writing.

Abstract

(Title: Form and Meaning of Language Variation in Short Stories Based on Local Wisdom). The purpose of this studyis to analyze the form and meaning of language variations in short stories based on the local wisdom of XI MIA 3 students at SMAN 1 Astanajapura. The method that used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Based on the data and results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the variety of languages used in short stories which based on local wisdomis diverse. In the short stories there are alsolanguage variations in the terms of speakers that related to dialect and sociolec. The benefits ofthis studyin education can be used for learning Indonesian and literature, such as KD Indonesian specialization in class XII, that is 3.5 to identify sentences in various languages, so that it is used as a reference in identifying various languages. Meanwhile, it can be used as reference materials for other researchers, especially in sociolinguistic. Keywords: language variations, forms, meanings, short stories, local wisdom

Abstract

Implementasi lesson study pada perkuliahan Pengantar Ilmu Sastra bertujuan untukmeningkatkan kualitas perkuliahan dengan menggunakan pendekatan saintifik. Sumber dataadalah 46 orang mahasiswa kelas B peserta mata kuliah Pengantar Ilmu Sastra 2014/2015di Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni UniversitasNegeri Yogyakarta. Implementasi dilaksanakan dalam empat siklus, masing-masing siklusterdiri atas tahapan plan, do, dan see. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalahpengamatan dengan instrumen lembar pengamatan dan dokumentasi berupa foto danvideo. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan bahwapendekatan saintifik dalam lesson study dapat meningkatkan kualitas perkuliahan padamata kuliah Pengantar Ilmu Sastra di kelas B 2014/2015. Dalam perkuliahan, mahasiswamenjadi lebih aktif, suasana perkuliahan menjadi lebih kondusif, diskusi kelompok dalampendekatan saintifik menjadi lebih hidup karena semua anggota kelompok mempersiapkanmateri diskusi dengan baik. Tahapan lima M dalam pendekatan saintifik secara keseluruhandapat meningkatkan peran aktif setiap mahasiswa dalam proses perkuliahan. Mereka jugamenjadi lebih antusias dan aktif dalam setiap pembelajaran. Perkuliahan yang dilakukanjuga dapat meningkatkan karakter jujur, tanggung jawab, disiplin, kerja keras, dan kreatif.Dengan kualitas perkuliahan yang lebih baik, pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap prosesperkuliahan di perguruan tinggi menjadi baik dan pemahaman materi perkuliahan jugamenjadi lebih baik.Kata kunci: pendekatan saintifik, lesson study, kualitas perkuliahan

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan antara strategi QUIP (Questions into Paragraphs) dan strategi Information Charts dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu dengan desain Randomized Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi QUIP dengan siswa yang tidak diajar menggunakan strategi QUIP. (2) Penggunaan strategi QUIP dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi lebih efektif apabila dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi tanpa strategi QUIP. (3) Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi Information Charts dengan siswa yang tidak diajar menggunakan strategi Information Charts. (4) Penggunaan strategi Information Charts dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi lebih efektif apabila dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi tanpa strategi Information Charts. (5) Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi QUIP dengan siswa yang diajar menggunakan  strategi Information Charts. The type of this research is a quasi experiment with Randomized Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The results show that (1) there is a significant difference between the student's ability of the exposition text writing which is taught by using QUIP  strategy and the students which are not taught by using QUIP strategy. (2) The use of QUIP strategy in the learning of exposition text writing is more effective than without QUIP strategy. (3) There is a significant difference  between the student's ability of an exposition text writing which is taught by QUIP strategy and the students which are not. (4) The use of Information Charts strategy in the learning of an exposition text writing is more effective than without using the Information Charts strategy. (5) There is a significant difference between the student's ability of an exposition text writing using QUIP strategy with the students which are taught by using Information Charts strategy. Abstract

Abstract (Title: Identification of Errors on English Engineering Translation Results to Java Language: Semantic Study). This study uses linguistic principles to study the results of English to Javanese translations using an online translation engine. In particular, this study aims to identify translation errors and study them from a semantic perspective. Data is obtained by entering ten thousand samples of English sentences into the Google Translator translation engine which are then analyzed qualitatively. Analysis is focused on the level of words and phrases. The results of the study show four main problems in the semantic domain, namely the absence of lexicons, the inaccuracy of lexicons, word ambiguity, and idiom phrases. Suggestions were given to improve the quality of Javanese language SMT from a linguistic perspective, related to quantity, coverage, and quality of corporate data.Keywords: semantics, machine translator, Javanese, English, linguistics

Abstract

(Title: Reading the Value of Humanity in Novel Autobiography). This article aims at revealing and elaborating the values of humanity embedded in the authobiography novels by Indonesian writers. The study is rooted in the fact that authobigraphy novels are currently burgeoning in Indonesia. Four novels selected for this study are Kenang- kenangan Hidup (Hamka), Habibie-Ainun (B.J. Habibie), Kehilangan Mestika (Hamidah), and Manusia Bebas (Soewarsih Djojopuspito). From the authobiography novels, readers, young generation in particular, can learn the values of life that the authors make as their vision to live life and its creativity processes, which cannot be separated from historical, social and political contexts. Through their authobiography novels, the authors express not only their conscience, emotion, and ideas, but also the ideology that they hold to live life and to realize their vision in the future.Key word: authobiography, humanity, creativity processes

Abstract

            (Title: Effectiveness of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Approaches in Literature Reading Learning) Learning to read literature based on the CIRC approach is an active and integrated learning activity that involves students and instructors as principals of learning. The ability to read is one of the abilities that requires ongoing learning. Applying the CIRC approach in learning to read literature becomes one of the solutions for teachers when learning activites begin. This study aims to (11) test the effectiveness of the CIRC approach in learning to read literature in PBSI Universitas Muhadi Setiabudi Brebes  Students in semester 1 of the 2018/2019 school year in reading subjects. This research is a quasi experimental research by comparing two approaches in learning, namely the conventional approach and the CIRC approach. The subject of the trial was PBSI UMUS students in semester 1 of the 2018/2019 school year. The research procedure had three stages, namely (1) the testing phase of the instrument of assessment and normally testing, (2) the learning phase, (3) the final test stage. Data collection using test techniques. The CIRC approach is more effective than the conventional approach, it is based on the resulting different test scores.Keywords: cooperative integrated reading and composition, reading, literature.
