Abstract

This article is about a research study conducted to describe the life-cyclemanners and rituals according to a classical Javanese text titled Serat Tatacara (orST, for short) written by Ki and Nyai Padmasusastra in 1863-1904. The text, whichwas the subject under study, was in prose and published by Kangjeng Gupremen instBatawi in 1907 in 2 volumes, the 1 of which containing 22 chapters covering 80ndpages and the 2 containing 18 chapters covering 105 pages. The content ispresented in the form of dialogues or question-and-answer sessions betweenfamily members.The research data were compiled by careful and direct reading on thesubject. The instruments used for data compilation were data sheets. The data wereanalyzed by using a descriptive analysis technique practiced in such research.The result of the research is a description of the life-cycle manners andrituals implied in ST, which, on the basis of the research result, are grouped into 3phases: (1) the part covering the prenatal phase contains information aboutrecognizing signs of pregnancy, what are forbidden and what are recommendedduring pregnancy, the ritual feast held when the pregnancy is 1 and 9 months old,and the manners practiced during childbirth, (2) the part covering the postnatalphase contains information about how to sever the placenta and what to do with it,how to take care of the mother and the baby after childbirth, and the postnatalrituals from brokohan, held right after childbirth, to slametan nyapih, held at thetime the infant ceases being breastfed, and (3) the part covering childhood andadolescence contains information about the rituals of tetesan (the femalecounterpart of circumcision), pasah (the leveling of the horizontal edge of teeth),sukeran (banishment of bad luck), sunatan (circumcision), and tingalan (letting agirl be seen by visiting prospective parents-in-law) and the manners practiced byparents to find a spouse for their son or daughter.Keywords: manners and rituals, life cycle, Serat Tatacara

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan: (1) keefektifan media Powerpointtanpa animasi, (2) keefektifan media Powerpoint beranimasi tidak koheren, (3) perbedaankeefektifan antara media Powerpoint tanpa animasi dan media Powerpoint beranimasitidak koheren, (4) perbedaan hasil belajar antara peserta didik sekolah level rendah danpeserta didik sekolah level tinggi, dan (5) interaksi antara media dan level sekolah, dalampembelajaran menulis laporan di kelas VIII SMP. Penelitian ini merupakan eksperimensemu dengan desain faktorial sederhana. Populasi penelitian ini meliputi seluruh pesertadidik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Kawunganten dan peserta didik kelas VIII SMP SultanAgung Kawunganten di Kabupaten Cilacap. Dua kelas dari tiap sekolah ditentukan sebagaisampel dengan teknik cluster sampling. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut.(1) Media Powerpoint tanpa animasi efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran menulis laporan(2) Media Powerpoint beranimasi tidak koheren efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaranmenulis laporan. (3) Ada perbedaan keefektifan yang signifikan antara media Powerpointtanpa animasi dan media Powerpoint beranimasi tidak koheren. (4) Ada perbedaan yangsignifikan antara hasil belajar peserta didik sekolah level tinggi dan peserta didik sekolahlevel rendah. (5) Dalam pembelajaran menulis laporan pada peserta didik kelas VIII SMP,tidak terdapat interaksi yang signifikan antara media dan level sekolah.Kata Kunci: keefektifan, media Powerpoint tanpa animasi, media Powerpoint beranimasitidak koheren, menulis laporan

Abstract

Iklan televisi tidak hanya menstimulus masyarakat untuk mengonsumsi produkyang diiklankan, tetapi juga mengonstruksi kesadaran tentang gaya hidup yang saat iniberkembang. Makna simbolik suatu produk menjadi simbol kelas masyarakat atas. Iklantelevisi telah memanfaatkan semua ini. Simbol sosial digunakan dalam iklan televisi yangmelambangkan kelas sosial. Iklan televisi dibuat untuk mengomunikasikan produk kepadamasyarakat luas. Agar komunikasi itu efektif dan dapat memengaruhi masyarakat calonkonsumen, maka pada iklan sering digunakan simbol yang dapat diterjemahkan sendirisebagai sesuatu yang berkesan lebih baik. Sebaliknya, komunikasi yang bermuatan simbolsimbolitu ditangkap dan dimaknai sendiri pula oleh masyarakat calon konsumen sebagaikonsekuensi logis dalam interaksi simbolik. Selanjutnya, akan terjadi proses pemaknaandari berbagai pihak sebagai subjek dalam interaksi simbolik. Pada akhirnya denganberinteraksi dengan faktor-faktor pendukung yang lain, terbentuklah gaya hidup yangsesuai kehendak para kapitalis. Oleh karena itu, produk yang diiklankan mereka sangatpantas dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat seperti masyarakat Indonesia ini yang mendambakankehidupan modern.Kata Kunci : Iklan, Wacana

Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) to identify the needs of grade X students of senior high school in learning English using interactive learning multimedia and (2) to develop reading and writing interactive learning multimedia for "Bahasa Inggris" for grade X students of senior high school. This research and development study follows ADDIE design model proposed by Branch (2009). The steps were conducting needs analysis, syllabus writing, first product development, expert judgment, revision, try-out, and final product development. The data of needs analysis were obtained in two schools, they were SMA N 1 and 2 Temanggung while the try-out was only done in SMA N 1 Temanggung. The data were collected by using questionnaire and interview. The quantitative data were analyzed by using the descriptive statistics and the qualitative data were analyzed qualitatively. This study develops a three-chapter interactive learning multimedia for reading and writing which consists of five main menus, i.e. User Guide, Materials, Semester Review, About the Developer, and References. Each chapter has ten tasks organized into Warmer, Vocabulary Builder, Reading, Vocabulary Exercises, Text Structure, Grammar Review, Writing, and Reflection. The results of the try-out indicate that the interactive learning multimedia is good/appropriate as shown by the mean value ranging from 3.04 to 3.48.Keywords: senior high school, reading and writing, developing interactive learning multimedia.  PENGEMBANGAN MULTIMEDIA PEMBELAJARAN INTERAKTIF UNTUK KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA DAN MENULIS DARI BUKU TEKS "BAHASA INGGRIS" KELAS X SEKOLAH MENENGAH ATAS ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengidentifikasi kebutuhan belajar siswa kelas X SMA dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris menggunakan multimedia pembelajaran interaktif dan (2) mengembangkan multimedia pembelajaran interaktif untuk keterampilan membaca dan menulis dari buku teks "Bahasa Inggris" kelas X SMA. Penelitian dan pengembangan ini mengikuti model desain ADDIE oleh Branch (2009) yang dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahap, yaitu analisis kebutuhan, penulisan silabus, pengembangan produk pertama, penilaian ahli, revisi, uji coba, dan pengembangan produk akhir. Pengambilan data untuk analisis kebutuhan dilakukan di dua sekolah, yaitu SMA N 1 dan 2 Temanggung sedangkan uji coba hanya dilaksanakan di SMA N 1 Temanggung. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner dan interview. Data kuantitatif dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan data kualitatif dianalisis secara kualitatif. Penelitian ini mengembangkan multimedia pembelajaran interaktif yang terdiri dari 5 menu utama, yaitu User Guide, Materials, Semester Review, About the Developer, dan References. Terdapat 3 bab untuk materi dengan 10 task untuk masing-masing bab. Task-task tersebut dibagi dalam beberapa sub-bab: Warmer, Vocabulary Builder, Reading, Vocabulary Exercises, Text Structure, Grammar Review, Writing, dan Reflection. Hasil uji coba produk menunjukan bahwa multimedia pembelajaran interaktif baik/ tepat ditunjukkan dengan nilai rata-rata 3.04 hingga 3.48.Kata Kunci: sekolah menengah atas (SMA), keterampilan membaca dan menulis, pengembangan multimedia pembelajaran interaktif

Abstract

Abstract(Title: Indonesian Folklore as a BIPA Learning Material: Embracing the Past for BIPA Learning in The Future). Learning material has always been an interesting and crucial topic in the field of BIPA. This qualitative research collected the data from observation, document, and interview. The results show that Indonesian folklore has been included in some of BIPA materials, but it has not been used optimally and proportionally as integrative learning materials. Folklore carries local wisdom of local society and can be used as integrative language learning materials, connecting language and culture. Indonesian folklore (written, oral, and/or multimodal texts) can be integrated in BIPA to discover a deeper meaning behind the folklore in accordance with the context of the community. The understanding of Indonesian folklore will help students understand Indonesian more authentically and contextually. Folklore is about the past, but it can be used as a bridge for BIPA learning in the future. Teachers need to create fun activities when integrating folklore in the classroom.Keywords: folklore, BIPA learning materials, integrative BIPA learning

Abstract

This study was conducted by using postcolonialism theory.This study of postcolonialism, focused on mimikri or indigene'simitation to Dutch colonials in Sitti Nurbaya novel by Marah Rusli,intended to uncover and describe some aspect of Dutch colonialismculture which they were imitated by indigene society. This study alsoattempt to describe fiction element that was used by writer to conveyimitation of Dutch colonialism culture.This study showed that ini the novel of Sitti Nurbaya byMarah Rusli was found mimikri to Dutch colonialism which wasexecuted by the characters. They are Sitti Nurbaya, Samsul Bahri,Datuk Maringgih, Arifm, and Bachtiar. Well, the Dutch colonialismculture that was imitated by them are (1) language, (2) feast andequipment of human life (clothes and weapon), (3) work system(trade), (4) artistry (art of music and art of movement), and (5)science. Fiction element that was used by writer to uncover thatmimikri realization is characterization element.Keywords: mimikri, postcolonialism
