Abstract

Mental health issues influenced college student's inner aspects, either emotionally, cognitively, physically, socially, and also their academic achievement. The ideal study period for college students is four years, but in fact, not all college students fulfill it. Academic self-efficacy had an essential role in determining mental health and study progress. The objective of this study was to measure the influence of academic self-efficacy on mental health and study progress. Three questionnaires The Mental Health Continuum-Short Form Scale and Academic Self Efficacy Scale were responded by 500 college students of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The collected data was analyzed using the Multivariate Regression Analysis technique. The result found that academic self-efficacy had a positive influence on mental health and study progress significantly. Multivariate regression analysis technique uses SPSS and MPlus, where the dependent variable is more than one, namely study progress, a categorical variable with two categories (1 appropriate and 0 late) and the mental health variable is a continuum variable. The study found a significant positive impact of academic self-efficacy to study progress and mental health of college students of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Academic self-efficacy had a .137 significance parameter to study progress and a .520 significance parameter to mental health. This result indicated that the higher academic self-efficacy level of college students would impact to the highest of their mental health and better study progress.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the performance of out-of-school children in speed school and accelerated learning programs as a basis for success in primary schools. This research field has received very little attention. The continuous assessment and placement test results of students at risk were not used much in the literature, which this study aims to fill. The total number of students involved in the study was 624. The study used the continuous assessment average scores and placement test scores as predictor variables. The results show that the relationship between placement test and 1st-semester score in grade four was significant, r (196) = .501, p < .001. For the Accelerated Learning Program, the placement test and 1st-semester score in grade three were significant, r (111) = .413, p<.001. As a tool to forecast primary school students' future achievement, the teacher-made continuous assessment appears to be less useful than placement tests for children who come through speed school. Students from speed school backgrounds performed better than students from formal schools; students from accelerated learning program backgrounds performed almost similarly to students from formal schools except in environmental science. The study indicated that in grade four of formal primary school, continuous assessment was found to be poorly linked with student knowledge and skills. However, the results show that both comparisons found placement examinations to be a reliable indicator of children's achievement in primary schools. It can be concluded that students who joined grades three and four of formal school through speed school and an accelerated learning program are capable of achieving minimum learning competence in the subsequent educational outcomes in elementary grades.

Abstract

Rogers stressed the impact of Conditional Regard (CR) towards the child in the development of neurotic anxiety. Miller noted that disorders in affect regulation relate to family atmospheres where the child is not allowed to express negative emotions. However, studies on the impact of paternal and maternal parenting styles lacking emotional warmth (EW) on the development of alexithymia in adulthood remain scarce. Therefore, The Bermond-Vorst Alexithymia Questionnaire (BVAQ) and the Leiden Parent-Child Interaction Questionnaire (LPCIQ-R) were administered to 152 male and female bachelor psychology students from 18 to 60 years of age at Leiden University. The results demonstrate that: 1) Both paternal and maternal parenting styles lacking EW induced significantly higher Alexithymia Total scores; 2) Fathers lacking EW induced significantly higher scores on Cognitive Alexithymia, while mothers lacking EW induced significantly higher scores on Affective Alexithymia; 3) Both CR fathers and CR mothers induced difficulties with Identifying emotions; 4) CR fathers induced difficulties with Verbalizing emotions, while 5) Indifferent mothers induced difficulties with Emotionalizing. The results above not only support Rogers’ view on the devastating affect of CR on emotion regulation, but empasize the different impact of paternal and maternal roles on the development of alexithymia features as well. In the past mothers were seen as the primary caretakers and consequently mothers were blamed for the child’s mental health problems. However, our results show that Cognitive Alexithymia, known for its association with mental illness is induced by fathers lacking EW. In contrast Affective alexithymia, associated with on the one hand stress resistance, and on the other hand lack of empathy and creativity, turned out to be induced by mothers lacking EW. Hence, with the growing active role of fathers in child rearing it is unfair to blame mothers for the child’s mental problems without prior investigations of parenting styles lacking EW.

Abstract

In Indonesia's diverse society, tensions and conflicts among various groups of religions often disrupt social harmony. Therefore, it emerges the concept of religious moderation which is currently adopted as a national policy in Indonesia to counter intolerance and radicalism. This study aimed to identify the factors influencing religious moderation in  Indonesian Muslim adolescents. The instruments used in this study are the modified Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ), the Indonesian version of the Muslim Daily Religiosity Assessment Scale (MUDRAS), and the Religious Moderation Scale. The religious moderation instrument consists of three dimensions: national commitment, anti-violence, and accommodation of local culture. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was employed to test construct validity. Using multiple linear regression we evaluate the effect of religiosity and parenting style on religious moderation. The sample of this study was 339 Indonesian Muslim late adolescents aged 17-22 years old from 22 provinces in Indonesia. The results showed that parenting styles and religiosity are significant predictors that positively influence religious moderation, both simultaneously and partially. The findings of this study suggest that parenting style and religiosity are the factors influencing religious moderation of Indonesian Muslim late adolescents. The findings of this study further emphasize the importance of the family's role in shaping adolescents' attitudes toward religion.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted employees in numerous ways, notably through the shift to work-from-home (WFH) arrangements. This transition has disrupted employees’ workplace well-being (WWB), with blurred boundaries between family and work life becoming more common. The challenge of balancing work and family demands under WFH conditions is referred to as the work-family interface (WFI). This study explores the effect of WFI on WWB and examines whether psychological detachment—defined as a recovery experience that allows individuals to mentally disengage from work to restore personal resources—moderates this relationship. The implementation of WFH during COVID-19 pandemic has posed a challenge of balancing the interaction between work and family or can be known as work-family interface (WFI). Psychological detachment as a form of recovery experience to replenish an individual's resource is assumed to moderate the relationship between WFI and WWB. So this study aims to look at the impact from WFI to WWB and also the moderation effect of psychological detachment. The study was conducted on 143 employees using convenience sampling, a non-probability sampling method. The instruments utilized in this study are the Work Family Interface from the Work-Family Interface Scale, with a reliability score of α = .728; the Workplace Well-being from the Workplace Well-being Questionnaire, with a reliability score of α = .893; and the Psychological Detachment from the Recovery Experience Questionnaire, with a reliability score of α = .825 and ω = .828. The results demonstrated that the Work-Family Interface (WFI) exerts a significant influence on workplace well-being (WWB) (p = .000). Furthermore, the findings substantiated that the four dimensions of the WFI markedly impact WWB (p = .000). However, the hypothesis that psychological detachment acts as a moderator in the relationship between WFI and WWB was not supported (p = .263, p > .05).

Abstract

The study examines attitudes toward getting professional mental health assistance among Russian and Ugandan university students, and it finds notable disparities that are driven by developmental and cultural factors. The following instruments were used in the methodology; to measure the attitudes towards seeking psychological help, the Inventory of Attitudes toward Seeking Mental Health Services (IASMSH) was used; and the Carol D. Ryff psychological well-being scale was used to measure psychological wellbeing.  The results show that attitudes toward therapy, social support, psychological well-being, and emotional openness are all statistically significantly correlated with one other. Interestingly, when it comes to getting psychological assistance, Russian students are more positive than their Ugandan counterparts. Both cohorts have a low use of mental health services, frequently resorting to campus health centres for physical symptoms associated with stress. It is essential to comprehend these elements in order to improve student referral rates and counselling services.

Abstract

Father involvement has a positive impact on children's cognitive, emotional and social development. However, the level of this involvement is low in the Asian context, particularly in Indonesia, where traditional gender roles often reduce paternal involvement. The role of fathers in children's development is increasingly recognized, but there remains a research gap in understanding how factors such as marital satisfaction and workplace flexibility jointly influence fathers' involvement. This research aims to determine the moderating role of workplace flexibility on the relationship between marital satisfaction and father involvement with surveyed fathers who work at Company"X", have children aged 1-21, live with their children and their wife. This research was conducted to 123 respondents. Measurement tools used in the research include the Father Involvement Inventory (IFI), the ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Scale, and the Workplace Flexibility Scale. Each measurement instrument has been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used is Moderation Process Analysis: Model 1 of Hayes (2013) using the SPSS Statistics program version 29. Based on the hypothesis testing results, there is a significant role of marital satisfaction on father involvement at 33%, but workplace flexibility does not moderate the relationship between marital satisfaction and father involvement. Demographic factors in this research also do not play a role in father involvement. These findings highlight the important role of marital satisfaction in promoting fathers' active participation, suggesting that improving marital relationships may be more effective than simply increasing workplace flexibility in encouraging fathers to become involved with their children. These results could also be interesting for exploring other factors likely to predict father involvement.

Abstract

Each employee may have different level of work engagement. A company must wants its employees to have high level of work engagement so they can work vigorously, with good dedication and get fully immersed in the work. The grit, proactive personality, supervisor support and organizational support factors can be predicted to to be able to influence work engagement of the employees. This study aims to discover the effect of grit, proactive personality, supervisor support, and organizational support on work engagement on employees. The subject of this study was employees who work at companies in East Java. Quantitative method was applied in this study with 197 subjects in total using simple random sampling technique. Grit Scale, Proactive Personality Scale (PPS), Surveys of Perceived Supervisor Support, Perceived Organizational Support (POS), and Utrech Work Engagement Scale - 9 (UWES-9) were the instruments used in this study. The results of the analysis explain there was an effect of grit on work engagement on employees (p<.05), there was an effect of supervisor support on work engagement on employees (p<.05), there was an effect of organization support on work engagement on employees (p<.05), and there wasn’t an effect of proactive personality on work engagement on employees (p>.05). As for suggestions for further research, paying more attention to completeness and suitability when distributing questionnaires to respondent, and it is necessary to pay more attention to the characteristics of the research subjects and other factors that might affect employee engagement such as social welfare, quality of work life, and organizational culture.

Abstract

The Psychological Well-Being of Santri is a measuring instrument that aims to measure the Psychological Well-Being of Santri. Therefore, this study aims to test the construct validity of this measuring instrument. PWBSs includes six subscales, each consisting of 4 items designed to measure the dimensions of the psychological well-being of santri as follows: 1) Personal, 2) Emotional, 3) Social, 4) Physical, 5) Spiritual, 6) Cognitive. The total sample in this study was 595 respondents. Consisting of 334 males and 261 females aged between 12-25 years. Samping in this study used probability sampling techniques using random sampling techniques. The analysis method used is Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with the help of Lisrel 8.7 software. The test results prove that there are 43 items that are in accordance with the data and 21 items in psychological well-being instrument of santri measure more than one factor or do not match the data. The researchers suggested that these 21 items be revised from the measuring instrument because they measure more than one factor.

Abstract

This article introduces a qualitative study to explore the process of life crafting to attain work-life balance (WLB) for Muslim women as academia has a triple burden in the context of career women in Indonesia. This study uses a phenomenological approach, collecting data using semi-structured in-depth interviews, and thematic analysis as a data analysis technique. Participants are full-time employed women (academics), have families, are continuing their studies, and have professional qualifications (N = 8). The findings show the dynamics of Life Crafting that underlies the work and non-work domains that affect the attainment of work-life balance in women participants working while studying. Participants were found to understand and achieve their work-life balance differently according to their personal traits. This study contributes to current knowledge about career and life issues through the perspectives and work-life experiences of professional women in Indonesia.
