Abstract

Climate change hasa huge impact for tobacco in Jember Regency. This study aims to determine 1) the level of productivity of tobacco on field and moor in Jember Regency; 2) the wayadaptation that has beentaken bytobaccofarmersto face theclimatechange 3) The correlation of adaptation by tobacco farmers toward the levelof productivity of tobaccoo field and moor. The method used in this research is a mixed qualitative and quantitative methods. The result shows1) productivity of tobacco on moor is 1.4 tons/ha and on moor is 1.2 ton/ha, 2) The adaptations of tobacco farmers to the face of climate change are; planting schedule planning, determination and prediction of weather, increasethe capital, changes in tillage techniques, change inputs, changes in the number of labor, anticipation droughts and heavy rainfall, 3) Adaptation that has significant correlation to productivity tobacco farmers on moor is the determination and prediction of weather, changes in tillage techniques, changes in the number of labor and anticipation of high rainfall. Abstract

Entrepreneurship has a positive relationship with economic growth in a country since its role in the economic growth which absorbs local resources and creates jobs. Livestock subsector is one of parts of agricultural sector which has good opportunity to be developed because the national market demand of milk product is still high. Bogor Regency is one area in West Java which has dairy cow industry. Nevertheless, dairy farmers in Bogor have not been optimally developed the potential opportunities in dairy farm business through entrepreneurial activities. This study aims to (1) analyse the entrepreneurial characteristics and entrepreneurial competences of dairy farmers, (2) analyse the relationship between entrepreneurial characteristics and entrepreneurial competences. The research objectives were analysed using descriptive qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis with Kendall Tau test. The result shows that the level of entrepreneurial characteristic and entrepreneurial competences of dairy farmers are low. The entrepreneurial characteristics and entrepreneurial competences also has a positive strong adequate relationship. It shows that to increase entrepreneurial competences of dairy farmers, entrepreneurial characteristics are also should bedeveloped. The government role is needed in increasing materials in training for dairy farmers to increase entrepreneurial competences and government policy to set a good milk price is also needed to give a better incentive for dairy farmers. Abstract

The purpose of this study was : (1) analyze internal factors that can formulate agricultural extension model of competence development in Gorontalo province, and (2) analyze the degree of relationship of internal factors that can formulate competency development model agricultural extension in Gorontalo. The research method is a survey method . To verify the model is done by using analytical SEM (Structural Equation Model) through the program LISREL (Linear Structural Relationships). The results show there is a direct influence while variable characteristics , motivation and self-reliance competence agricultural extension educator at each value : -0,30 ; 0,88, and 0,22 are significantly different at the level of α = 5 %, There are directions and coefficients relationships between variables, namely : the characteristic extension educator and motivation , as well as motivation and self-reliance extension educator. Coefficient of relationship between the variables : 0,50 and 0,25, which is significantly different at α = 0,05. Together these three variables influence the competency of agricultural extension workers by 0,74 units (74 %) were significant at α = 0,05. The proposed action plan for the first year is to conduct research in the field operationally through primary and secondary data collection and analyzing appropriate data analysis process, whereas in the second year research plan is to apply the model of competence development agricultural extension obtained in the study in the first year.

Abstract

Lamongan Regency is a potential area to develop the fishery industries for special is the area of embakment with the commodity of Vannamei shrimp in the Deket Subdistrict. There are some area in Deket Subdistrict with huge potential condition to cultivate Vannamei shrimp, one of them in Dinoyo Village. Dinoyo Village is the biggest producer of Vannamei shrimp and also it is easy to get the tradisional market which sell fish and Vannamei shrimp fry in order to be a potentially reason to develop the cultivation of Vannamei shrimp.Most of the resident of Dinoyo Village work as the farmer of Vannamei shrimp. However there are some problems faced by them, such as technical. Constraint like virus and the rarity of fertilizer, and also untechnical constraint like flood. This research is done to examine: the farmer’s motivation of Vannamei shrimp in Dinoyo Village, the social – economy factors which influence the income of Vannamei shrimp cultivation in Dinoyo Village, the efficiency of production expense usage in the Vannamei shrimp cultivation in DinoyoVillage.Key Words: Motivation of Shrimp, Income of Shrimp, and efficiency of production expense

Abstract

This research is intended to: (a) know the trend resulting cocoa production of East Java province, (b) know the competitiveness of cocoa production (c) determine the impact of government policies on cocoa production, and (d) determine the effect of changes in input pricing policies on the competitiveness of cocoa output in East Java. The location of the research at PT. Perkebunan Durjo, district of Jember. The methods of research used are descriptive and analytical methods. The data was obtained through secondary data and primary data. The methods of analysis used are the production trend analysis and policy analysis matrix (PAM). The results showed that: (1) the development of cocoa production in East Java in 2016 is estimated to have increased by 46.97% from the year 2010, (2) the production of cocoa in East Java has competitiveness shown by the value of comparative advantage and competitive advantage, DRC value = 0.6148, PCR value = 0.7976, (3) government policies have a negative impact on cocoa production in East Java. This is indicated by NPCI = 1.2100, NPCO = 0.9587 and EPC = 0.8934 (4) policy changes in tradable input rate increases will reduce the competitiveness; changing DRC to be 0.621 and PCR to be 0.814.Key Words: cocoa, competitiveness, the impact of government policy

Abstract

Comodities farming system is the farming system management whith a commodity whose primerly planting which coverage by the sub-systems or other commodities arranged with characteristic and specificly and integrated toward that commodity. The research location in slope of Sumbing mountain which have tobacco aromatics with high nicotin and tar. The sample are sub-village to trade off phenomena analyzes with purposive sampling and the data are intensively take in sub-village farmer with proporsion sampling. And anlysis in power function regression model.Sumbing slope land area have 2 character agroclimate. High land area have longer time harvaest commodities than midle land area and have dry season whose can not planted with economic commodities except tobacco. Phenomena of trade off on high land area not happen in changing comodities farming system but not in midle land area. The tradeoff phenomena were midle land area in changging of cabbage farming system with tobacco farming system, but not for other system. Increasing of cabbage farming system area whose indicated decreasing tobacco farming system area caused decreasing in input use by farmer on that area but not for economic produktivity land.Keywords: commodity farming system, tradeoff phenomena.

Abstract

The problem of food security in Indonesia is exacerbated by the high number of poverty in Indonesia. This is exacerbated by the high dependence of the Indonesian rice consumption has increased and the national rice production has decreased. The research objective is to map the village level food security based on the aspects of availability, aspects of food access and livelihoods and access to nutritional health. Methods of determining district purposively sample while the determination of villages using a Multistage Sampling. The study was conducted in Sidoarjo Regency as a regional industrial center, Jember regency as agricultural centers and Banyuwangi Regency as fishery centers.Results obtained from this study are: (1) The villages in Sidoarjo regency 60% in the category of food resistant, and 40% in the category of food insecurity. (2) The villages in Jember regency 57% in the category of food resistant and 43% in the category of food insecurity. (3) Villages Banyuwangi 72% in the category of food resistant and 28% in the category of food insecurity.Key words: mapping, regional, hold food, food security.

Abstract

The study conducted on 40 respondents who live in the vicinity of peatlands in limited production forest areas that were randomly selected from 9 villages that fall into 5 districts. The purpose of the study is to analyze the socio-economic conditions of society who live around peatlands limited production forest, describing the behavior of society in limited production forest, and identifies whether the socio-economic conditions affect the behavior of people in limited production forest. The study was designed to survey method, using a questionnaire to guide interviews with respondents. The results showed that the socio-economic conditions of society in limited production forest area is still relatively low in general source of livelihood is not fixed (the handyman, fishermen, farmers, firewood sellers, and so on), this is one that encourages people to use forests as Alternative increase family income. Behavior of communities around the limited production forest classified as positive, especially against the preservation of peatlands in limited production forest areas this is reflected by the observation in the field which show that most forest use as additional family pengahsilan limited to making materials for domestic industries (55%) , firewood (15%), and to farm is 30%. Basically as much as 90% of respondents stated concern for the preservation of peatlands in limited production forest.Key words: peatlands in the region HPT, perceptions, public behavior

Abstract

The aims of the research were (1) to understanding the role of husband and its wife in farm management, (2) to study the time allocation both husband and its wife in farm management, and(3) to study factor that influence time allocation both husband and its wife in farm management. The research location was decided by purposive method in Klitik, Geneng, Ngawi, East Java. So the 30 samples were decided by random sampling method. Furthermore, the analyze methods that used are independent t-test and multiple regression analyze.The results show that the husband participations greater than wife participation in farm management. So, the factors that influencing husband in farm management are harvested area and the age of farmer. Furthermore, the factor that influencing wife in farm management is harvested area. So, another result show that husband has main role than wife for controlling the raw material using. In contrary, wife has main role to use the harvested results. Factors that influence the time allocation in farm management are harvested area and time allocation in non farming, so the factors that influencing wife in farm management are harvested area, farm income, time allocation in non farm management.Keywords: gender model development, time allocation for farming and non farming.

Abstract

The aim of this research were (1) to understand the application of technology  in Glycine max Merr farming in The Jember and Banyuwangi Regency, (2) to understand the Glycine max Merr farming efficiency and (3) to understand the factors that influencing Glycine max Merr production. The data was collected from the farmer in Jember and Banyuwangi regency. The data was analyzed by descriptive  and inference analysis using one sample t-test, R/C ratio and Cobb-Douglass production function. The result shows that there is difference between the average value (-20,23) of application technology in Glycine max Merr farming and the fix average (285,80), the R/C ration is less than one, and the influencing factors to Glycine max Merr production are land area, employee, fertilizer, pesticides, dummy  of location, dummy of technology.
