Abstract

Abstract. The need for upgrading the D3 Bahasa Inggris students’interest and writing ability leads to an idea to implement a teaching design inorder to supply entrepreneurship skill to them through Writing I course.Concerning with it, this research is aiming at: 1) improving and increasing thebetter motivation change and entrepreneurship skill as a means to solveproblems in teaching and learning activity of Writing I for students of thesecond semester of D3 Bahasa Inggris, 2) becoming one of strategic steps toundertake for improving education service wholly, and 3) becoming as a meansfor skill development for both lecturers and students which is based on theneed to solve problems of Writing I learning especially for students of D3Bahasa Inggris. The design of this research is Classroom Action Research due tothe fact that it is based on a situational problem, occurring at the time ofconducting Writing I teaching. Apart from what has been mentioned, the proposedteaching design is for improving the teaching and learning quality as well asimproving the students’ study result. The result of this research shows that 14from the total number 15 students (more or less 93%) assume that this methodhas efficiency and ‘power to assist’ in Writing I teaching and learning, thatis improving the students’ writing ability. Twelve to fourteen students(86-99%) said that this method has a capability to give learning motivation interms of an effective interaction between lecturers-students as well asaffective support needed by the students. It means that this teaching design isquite appropriate to use as an alternative method in supplying entrepreneurshipskill through its output that is writing skill ability.Key words: Entrepreneurship, wrting 1, storybook for children

Abstract

Abstract. Puppet show becomes alast option for teenagers when they get some alternative shows. This is a verypathetic phenomenon as the generation has no longer been interested to theirown asset. Thus, people who love and care about puupet should find a way tomake puppet show live because in the story we can get great life values andmoral teaching. A nation is strong when it has good and firm characters. Thisarticle talks about some educative values which have relations to values ofpoliteness and firm and strong will of the main characters of the puppet showentitled “Rabine Bambang Wijanarko”. The educative values are traced andanalized from dialogues of the main characters with the supporting characters

Target pokok PTK yaitu ingin meningkatkanproses dan hasil pembelajaran. Untuk mengetahui keberhasilan tersebut,dibutuhkan tahap observasi. Abstract

Abstract. This concise paper elaborates a certainconsideration relacted toa a current situation of education in Indonesia. Thequality of education in our country is relatively low compared to that of othercountries like Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. Teachers and lectures areencouraged to be professional when doing learning and teaching process. This isbecause; teachers and lecturers are of extremely important in that process.Even, if a very high technology is applied, the learning and teaching processwill never be meaningful without them. Professional teachers/lecturers musthave three things simultaneously: expertise, commitment, and skill. Besides,contextual teaching and learning (CTL) must be carried out to make students seemeaning in the academic material they are studying by connecting the subjectswith their daily lives. By doing so, it is expected that the learning andteaching process could be better. Finally professional teachers and CTL are twothings which cannot be separated when the academic atmosphere is very muchconcerned. Key words          :  teachers/lecturers, professional, CTL

Abstrak. Perkembangan teknologi internet semakinmenjadi manakala situs jejaring sosial mulai menarik perhatian semua kalangantak luput juga para pelajar/mahasiswa. Interaksi mereka di dunia maya,khususnya di jejaring sosial Facebook yang awam menggunakan Bahasa Inggris bisamenjadi salah satu medium bagi para pengajar untuk mencari tahu keberhasilanproses belajar mereka. Dalam pengamatan pada salah satu mahasiswa yang sedangmenekuni Bahasa Inggris tampak jelas bahwa tidak selamanya praktik berbahasaInggris melalui status update di Facebook berbuah manis. Perbincangan seputaridentifikasi diri di dunia maya yang berbeda dengan identifikasi diri di dunianyata ternyata menyuguhkan fenomena yang menarik tentang hubungan antarauniversalitas konteks maya dan nilai budaya dalam kehidupan nyata. Abstract. Reading iscommon activity. Some people think that reading is only to kill our time or toget additional information. The process of comprehension a text seems so simplebut, in fact, it is a very complicated process. The knowledge or informationthat the readers get happens is a long process but in a very rapid movement(saccadic movement). The iceberg on the surface appears small as words that thereaders see. In a second those words are sent to out brain, as it’s called thedeep, to be processed. Some components work and the result is the comprehensionof the text. Keyword : iceberg, saccadic movement

Abstract

Abstract. Aphenomenon indicates that consultation process of the thesis wiriting draft ofIndonesian and Literature Education students is not optimum yet. The problemsare the time consumed for writing the proposal of their thesis draft and theunsatisfying draft quality of the students. The first problem shows that moststudents took relatively longer time, more than 6 months for in fact theyshould have done that within 6 months only. Ideally, students are expected tofinish writing their thesis draft and read to be examined within 6 months. Todeal with this, classroom action research was done. The strategy applied isimplementing Cognitive Coaching was implemented into 3 cycles, which in eachcycle has activities reasing consecus, discussion, controvercial topic,dan problem solving serta writing journals. This method can elevate the qualityof the consultation of thesis draft as it was shown by the improvement ofstudents’ attendance 83,33 percent. Generally students’ activities also improveat level 74,5. Abstract.Communicative language teachingmerupakan salah satu metode pengajaran cukup efektif bila dilaksanakan secarasesuai. Karakteristik dan prinsipnya seperti kesesuaian penggunaan bahasatarget (bahasa Inggris), focus kepada pesan/ message, proses psikolinguistik,dan praketk bebas seperti halnya keahlian komunikasi, keahlian bahasa, dankompetensi interaksi sosialisasi diulas untuk mengukur kualitas metode dankemungkinan penggunaannya. Lebih jauh, keuntungan dan kelemahan metode inipundievaluasi sebagai sebuah parameter untuk meminimalkan resiko penggunaan metodeini. Abstract. Need analysis for English for specificpurposes course is something very necessary. The benefits are for answering thequestions of needs which have been always specific for the learners themselves,and for the sake of make up purpose, that is to impress the students positivelythat the course is carried out seriously. The analysis is classified broadlyinto 3 categories; target situation analysis, learning analysis, and learneranalysis. Abstract

Abstract. Non English Departmentstudents find it difficult to understand an English text. Therefore, to answerthe need of those students, ESP is carried out for them. To make themunderstand what a text is about, English sentence patterns in terms of Kernelsentence patterns are introduced to them during the ESP course. However, thisteaching seems not working well. A solution is offered, dealing with sevenskills covering the introduction of parts of speech, phrases, kinds of clauses,subject and finite verbs, and main idea.
