Abstract

According to Law Number 23 of 2007, on Railways, the train station for loading and unloading of goods shall be equipped with safety, security, loading and unloading goods, and public facilities. The condition of the railway station in Lubuk Linggau, South Sumatra, is now very crowded, with spaces for vehicle parking shuttle and for loading and unloading of goods are no longer sufficient, thus affecting the performance of this station. The data indicate that the modes of transport used by passengers using the railway mode for Palembang-Lubuk Linggau or vice versa are motorcycles, paratransit, private car, which require facilities to intermodal transfer. The transport of goods shows that those with two trips, which indicate the existence of a distribution of goods in the town of Lubuk Linggau, are about 7.6%. This means that loading and unloading facilities at the station are needed. To improve its performance, in Lubuk Linggau station must be equippedwith the facilities in accordance with existing regulations. Keywords: railway station performance, passenger transport, cargo transport, intermodal transfer

Abstract

Buton Asphalt is a natural asphalt which has advantages because it contains minerals and asphalt, even though its asphalt content does not completely meet the specification as a binder of asphalt concrete. Various studies of the Buton Asphalt usage have been carried out. This paper presented the results of a study on asphalt concrete mixtures using materials of Buton Granular Aggregate (BGA), treating the BGA as aggregates, with the BGA content of 5% and 7%. Mixtures and specimens were analyzed to investigate the effects of BGA on the performance of asphalt concrete. The results showed that the indirect tensile strength for the mixture with BGA of 5% is higher than that obtained in the those with BGA content of 7%.Keywords: natural asphalt, asphalt concrete, Buton Granular Asphalt, indirect tensile strength.

Abstract

Speed humps are speed limiting devices to protect pedestrians and reduce the accident rate. The installation of speed humps in residential can reduce the speed of motorists but, at the same time, also can create a problem. The purpose of this study is to analyze the noise level caused by installation of speed humps and to compare noise levels before and after vehicle crossed the speed humps. The results show that the noise levels caused by vehicles after passing the speed hump are higher that those before the hump. The average noise levels at distances of 50 m and 10 m before the speed hump are 64.15 dBA and 63.63 dBA, respectively. These values increase to 66.64 dBA and 69.89 dBA at distances of 50 m and 10 m after the speed hump. It is also found that the noise levels for different location and time of measurement are significantly different. Keywords: speed humps, noise level, speed limiting device.

Abstract

The provision of freight infrastructure linking the hinterland to the port requires agreement between actors. However, in reality there is a policy conflict in the development of a regional freight infrastructure, such as in the case of the Aloha Perak Toll Road construction in Surabaya. This study aims to discuss actor relationship in the freight transport infrastructure development strategy to support export activities in Tanjung Perak Port of Surabaya, using Dynamic Actor Network Analysis. It is found that there is an action conflict in achieving smooth flow of goods coming from the hinterland to the port, particularly between the city of Surabaya Planning Board and the East Java Province Planning Board. The conflict can be minimized by the existence of jujitsu negotiation and BATNA, because the Surabaya City Government, as the owner of the land, has greater power than the Provincial Government. Keywords: regional freight infrastructure, Dynamic Actor Network Analysis, action conflict, conflict management technique

Abstract

After the economic crisis in 1997, motorcycles become a popular transport mode in Indonesian cities. However this condition leads to large number of violation and accident rate. This study tried to discuss howthis problem started and what possible measure can be taken to solve the problems, mainly based on literaturereview. The traffic data used were compiled from the data provided by PT Pamintori Cipta. Interview surveywas conducted to find people perception of motorcycles issues. The conclusion suggests that there is a needof further comprehensive study to find out what condition that makes motorcyclists voluntary return to usepublic transport and social engineering and intensive training program should be implemented for youngergeneration to improve traffic condition in Jakarta. Keywords : motorcycle violation, traffic safety, and public transport.

Abstract

Recently, motorcycle population in Indonesia is increasing rapidly. Meanwhile, the number of accidents involving motorcycles is higher than that of other motor vehicles. Based on the problem, it is important to find out a solution so that the road transportation safety can be created. The objective of this study is to model motorcycle accidents on the road. The dependent variable, as a response variable, is the number of motorcycle accidents and the independent variables are traffic volume, speed, lane width, lane number, and shoulder. The road accident data were collected from 18 roads in four areas, including Surabaya City, Malang City, Malang Regency, and Batu City. Modeling analysis employed a Generalized Linear Modeling (GLM) method. The results indicated that the model can be used to describe the actual condition of the road accidents. Moreover, it is also showed that the motorcycle accidents are significantly influenced by volume, speed, lane width, lane number, and shoulder variables. High volume and speed will increase accident risks, but the increase in lane width, lane number, and shoulder will decrease accident risks. Keywords: motorcycle accident, motorcycle accident modeling, road traffic accident

Abstract

An important problem in urban areas is traffic congestion that occurs on the road network during the day. One cause of this problem is the high number of private car usage with low occupancy levels while public transport services are under-utilized, although the use of public transport is more efficient than that of private cars. Therefore, efforts to increase public transport use are needed to reduce transportation problems, such as traffic congestion. Mode choice is one important step in transportation modeling because this stage provides information necessary to evaluate the condition of the transportation network, including traffic congestion in the network. This model aims to determine the individual attributes and modes, which influence in selecting a mode among available modes, using the utility function parameters. Sensitivity of mode choice can be seen through the sign and magnitude of the parameters contained in this model. In this study, a simulation was conducted with a purpose to increase the market share of public transport in the City of Surakarta. Keywords: mode choice, utility function, public transport

Abstract

Stacking of vehicles trouble especially motorcycles often happens to pass through the intersection stop line. Advanced Stop Area (ASA) for motorcycles is one of treatment to solve the problem. The purpose of this study is to compare values of saturated flow on the approach of intersections with and without ASA. The survey was conducted on the 4th to the 7th of June, 2012 at 16:00 to 18:00 at the intersection of Ahmad Yani Laswi, Pasteur-Sukajadi and Ir. H. Juanda - Surapati for the intersection with ASA and intersection of Gatot Subroto-Laswi and Ir. H. Juanda-Sulanjana for intersections without ASA in Bandung. Saturated flow for 9 m width protected with ASA is 4355 pcu/gh and without ASA is 4034 pcu/gh. The intersection with 9 m width of opposed with ASA is 4941 pcu/gh and without ASA is 4605 pcu/gh. The intersection with a width of 6 m opposed with ASA is 3427 pcu/gh and without ASA is 3255 pcu/gh. ASA will increase the value of saturation flow at 8% for protected intersection and 7.3% for opposed intersection width of 9 m, and 5.3% for opposed intersection width of 6 m. Influence the application of ASA at an intersection approach will be obvious to the departure of the data in units of vehicles, especially motorcycles units. Keywords: intersection, saturated flow, Advanced Stop Area (ASA)
