Abstract

River waters in Bungo Regency are the habitat of mahseer (Tor spp.), which has a potential for ecotourism development. This study aimed to examine the potential of mahseer resources as the main commodity in river ecotourism development. The study was conducted at the Lubuk Alay water reservation area in October 2019. Observations were made for water quality (temperature, depth, transparency, TSS, pH, DO, nitrate, and total phosphate) and general tourism conditions in the region. The analysis was carried out on the river tourism suitability index (TSI), carrying capacity, and management strategies. Based on the observations, the water quality was generally in good condition and suitable for ecotourism requirements. Types of suitable activities for river ecotourism consisted of relaxing sitting-in (TSI 2.08 – 2.45, suitable) with a carrying capacity of 149 persons/day and playing water (TSI 2.35 – 2.45, suitable) with a carrying capacity of 2194 person/day. The management strategies for developing river ecotourism covered the classification of zones in the Lubuk Beringin, ecotourism development in accordance with the existing potential, coordination between the government and public for ecotourism development, and development of ecotourism through improving facilities and infrastructure. Keywords: Carrying capacity, conservation, river ecotourism.

Abstract

This article was aimed to explain the implementation of the Tourism Department's strategy in developing halal tourist destinations in West Lombok Regency and analyze the factors that influence the strategy implementation. The government of West Lombok Regency has drawn up a strategic plan to address the complexity of the problems that arise in halal tourism. This research used a qualitative method. Data were collected through documentation, observation, and interview techniques. The results showed the implementation of the strategy has been carried out in the form of activities and programs. The tourism destination has been characterized as halal and supported by regulatory clarity, the Islamic Culture Community in West Lombok Regency, which is also attached to the natural conditions that are very supportive and the support of the enthusiastic tourism awareness group (POKDARWIS). However, there are still obstacles, including the lack of a clear concept of halal tourism in West Lombok Regency, the lack of marketing or promotion of halal tourism, as well as inadequate and halal-certified facilities. So the recommendation that needs to be conveyed by the Government tourism office of West Nusa Tenggara is the need to translate the program into various activities in more detail and must involve stakeholders to help standardize and certify. Keywords: Development Strategy, Halal Tourism, Implementation.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the Islamic economy recently is a principal part of the global economy. The brands and services with halal/sharia concept in many products have become increasingly trending in the global economy, including in the tourism industry. Opportunities for the development of halal tourism are widely open as the rapidly growing Muslim population in the world. This study aims to analyse the potential of halal tourism from the educational aspect and the number of tourist visits to Bromo Tengger National Park. Primary data were collected through distributing questionnaires to Muslim tourists, in which the judgment sampling method was used for the selection of respondents. The number of respondents who filled out the questionnaire was 250 people. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the exploratory multivariate method. Tourist education and the number of tourist visits to Bromo Tengger act as aspects that can influence tourist perceptions in providing an assessment of the potential of halal tourist destinations. The results showed that the tourists gave a pretty good perception for every aspect of measuring halal tourist destination. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the Bromo Tengger destination has the potential as a halal tourist destination. Keywords: halal tourism, potential, tourists.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the dominant factors forming the image in the context of tourism destinations. The quantitative method with the survey format chosen in this study, where the data obtained through convenience sampling were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The results showed that the image of Borobudur as a destination was formed by 4 dominant factors, namely: Core Attractions, Supporting Attractions, Services, and Experience. The results of this study have implications for destination marketers to get a clear picture of how the image is in the eyes of tourists so that programs or activities for developing and improving the quality of a destination are more focused and right on target. This paper fills a gap in the generic branding literature by adopting an empirical stance in describing image-forming factors in the context of tourism destinations. Keywords: Brand image, destination branding, destination image, tourism destinations.

Abstract

Pulau Merah Beach must have sustainable tourism management that involves many institutions in the regional area as decision-makers and controls the regional plan. This research aims to analyze the institutional sector for tourism management on Pulau Merah Beach to support sustainability. Data were obtained through interviews with the Head of BAPPEDA, the Head of the Culture and Tourism Office, Spatial Planning Practitioners, Environmental Experts, and Local Communities. Data then analyzed with Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM). There are four elements used to measure the institutional tourism management in Pulau Merah Beach, i.e. (1) elements of institutional (20 sub-elements); (2) elements of institutional problems (12 sub-elements); (3) elements of expected goals (11 sub-elements); (4) elements of the required program (11 sub-elements). The results of the analysis conducted show that DISBUDPAR is an institution with a role and authority in regulating tourism on Pulau Merah Beach, but it requires cooperation with other agencies to achieve sustainable management. The expected goals of tourism management in Pulau Merah Beach are sustainable, integrated, synergy, efficient, and sufficient, and firm law enforcement. However, there is no clear SOP between institutions. So, it can lead to a lack of integration between institutions and the emergence of unclear standards and measuring instruments. To achieve goals and resolve existing problems, designing several programs is required, such as forming a specific institution that handles the tourism management of Pulau Merah Beach, evaluating policies, and integrating tourism management's technical guidelines in the Pulau Merah Beach Area. If each key point can be optimized, it will be possible to realize sustainable tourism management on Pulau Merah Beach Banyuwangi. Keywords: DISBUDPAR, institution, interpretive structural modelling, sustainable tourism.

Abstract

Sentiment analysis is frequently used to examine textual data to determine the sentiment contained in a sentence. This method can be used to determine the polarity of emotions associated with specific themes, events, products, and certain phenomena in the world. This study utilized Twitter data to analyze textual data in Bahasa Indonesia gathered via Twitter using R. This study will focus on ten tourism destinations. These destinations were targeted for development by the Indonesian government in 2016 through the Ministry of Tourism. The purpose of this study was to determine the sentiment polarity of Indonesian Twitter users towards ten tourism destinations. The sentiment polarity score was calculated using an Indonesian sentiment lexicon. The results of this study indicate that the Indonesian government’s designation of a tourism destination as a development priority destination appears to have no effect on the tourism destination’s sentiment polarity, particularly among Twitter users. The popularity status of a tourist destination does not translate to a high score on positive sentiment. Due to the limitation of the sentiment lexicon in Bahasa Indonesia, it can be inferred from this study that getting an accurate sentiment score for each tweet is still not achievable. However, the sentiment lexicon in Bahasa Indonesia should be updated to increase the accuracy of the sentiment score calculation. Keywords: Indonesian sentiment analysis, Indonesian sentiment lexicon, Tourism destinations.
