ABSTRACTThis research was aimed at revealing the development of the studentsâ mathematics conceptual understanding and to know whether the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Guided Note Taking active learning strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class XI IPS of SMA PGRI 1 Padang. This was an experimental research which used random toward the subject design. Based on the result of data analysis, it was found that the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students improved from a meeting to next one. In addition, the result of t-test showed that the value of tcalculated (2,40) was bigger than ttable (1,675) in which α was 0,05. This result indicated that the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Guided Note Taking active learning strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class XI IPS of SMA PGRI 1 Padang.

 ABSTRACT This research was carried out due yo the studentsâ low learning achievement in mathematics in class VII SMPN 3 Koto XI Tarusan Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan. This research was aimed at revealing whether the mathematics conceptual understanding of the studentsâtaught by using instant assessment active learning was better than that of studentsâ taught by using conventional learning. This was an experimental research which used random toward the subject design. Based on the result of data analysis it was found that the two sample classes were normally distributed and homogenous. Furthermore, the result of t-test indicated that the value of  was higher than  in which α was 0.05. this result showed that the mathematics conceptual understanding of the studentsâ taught by using instant assessment active learning was better than of studentsâ taught by using conventional learning in class VII SMPN 3 Koto XI Tarusan Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan registered in academic year 2013/2014.

ABSTRACTThe research is conducted due to great number of students who do not understand yet the concept of mathematics well, it is proven that there are still a lot of students who get low mark. This research is aimed at analyzing the learning activity of the students of class VIII SMPN 23 Padang and finding out whether the comprehension of the mathematical concept of the students by applying the strategy Active Knowledge Sharing is better than the comprehension of the mathematical concept of the students by conventional learning. This is an experimental research.The population of the research is the students of classVIII SMPN 23 Padang, academic year 2013/2014. The sample is taken at random. The instruments in this research are the observation sheet and the comprehension test of mathematical concept.The result of research shows that the activity of the students in learning mathematics using the strategy Active Knowledge Sharing increases. Hypothetical examination uses minitab by examining t, gained P-value = 0,000= 0,05, therefore it can concluded that the comprehension of the studentâs mathematical concept using strategy Active Knowledge Sharing is better than comprehension of the studentâs mathematical concept by conventional learning.

ABSTRACT This research was conducted based on the studentâs understanding on mathematics concept was still low and the low curiosity of student to the subject material. This research was aimed at revealing wheather the use of Learning Starts With A Question technique could give a better effect on the studentâs understanding on mathematics concept than conventional learning in class VII SMPN 5 Kota Solok. This was an experimental research which used random desain toward subject. The instrument of the research was test on mathematics concept. The data then was the perceived data analysis the perceived data analysis. Based on the data analysis, it was revealed that the sample was distributed normally and had homogeny variant. The result of hypothesis test showed that p-value (0,023) was smaller than indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. Hence, it was concluded that the application of Learning Starts With A Question technique could improve the studentsâ understanding on mathematics concept better than that of the conventional learning.

 ABSTRACTThis research was conducted for the studentsâ lack of ability in mathematical thinking and mathematical communication, and for their low achievement in learning in class IX of SMPN 14 Padang. This research was intended to reveal whether the mathematical thinking and mathematical communication of the students taught by using Knowledge-Shared strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class IX of SMPN 14 Padang. This was an experimental research. The instruments of the research were a questionnaire and a posttest on thinking and communication ability. The studentsâ learning achievement was seen from the result of the posttest. The result of data analysis indicated that the hypothesis of the research was accepted. Therefore, it was concluded that the mathematical thinking and mathematical communication of the students taught by using Knowledge-Shared strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class IX of SMPN 14 Padang. In addition, based on the result of the questionnaire it was known that the studentsâ attitude toward the learning process by applying Knowledge-Shared strategy was in good category.

                                              ABSTRACTThis research is motivated by the students understanding of mathematical concepts are still low. This study aims to determine whether students understanding of concepts that implement various strategies to actively better knowledge of the students understanding of the concepts that apply to conventional teaching class VIII SMPN1 Tarusan academic year 2013/2014.This research is an experimental study of the subject with a random design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMPN1 Koto Tarusan listed in the Academic Year 2013/2014, with the sample is a class VIII.1 student as an experimental class and VIII. 2 as the control class. The instrument in this study is the final test in the form of an essay by using the concept of understanding and assessment indicators based analytic rubric, the reliability of the test is 0.886. data analysis techniques are used by one party t test with the help of MINITAB. Based on hypothesis testing using t-test of the party with the help of MINITAB, obtained P-value of 0.000 is smaller than α = 0.05. It can be concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying various strategies to actively better knowledge than the students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying conventional learning model class VIII SMPN1 Koto XI Tarusan Academic Year 2013/2014 at the 95% confidence interval.

ABSTRACTThis research is motivated by studentsâ comprehensian of mathematical concept that stiil low and studentsâ participate in learning as less. The purpose of this research is to determine whether studentsâ comprehensian of mathematical concept by implementing active learning type index card match is better than studentsâ comprehension of mathematical concept by implementing conventional learning in class X SMAN 15 Padang school year 2013/2014. This was an experiment research. Sampling was done randomly, which was selected X3 as experiment class and X5 as control class. The instrument used is final test that contains an indicator of comprehension concept with reliability test is . The data was analyzed by using to test with MINITAB software. Based on the result of data analysis, it was revealed that the sample has normally distributed and homogeneus with α = 0,05. Hypothesis test result obtained that P-value = 0,031 is smaller than α = 0,05, so hypothesis was received. It can be conclude that studentsâ comprehension of mathematical concept by implementing active learning type index card match is better than student comprehension of mathematical concept by implementing conventional learning in class X SMAN 15 Padang

This research aims to determine whether studentâs understanding of mathematical concepts by applying active learning strategies the power of two type better review than the studentâs understanding of mathematical concepts by applying conventional learning eighth grade students SMPN 3 Lembang Jaya  academic year 2013/2014. This research is an experimental research, the design of randomized trials on the subject. The instrument used in this research is a test student understanding of mathematical concepts. Data analysis techniques are used to test the hypothesis is not a party with the help of MINITAB software. Based on the results of the analysis of the data found that both classes of normally distributed and homogeneous samples. Hypothesis test results obtained P - value = 0.025 is less than α = 0.05, then reject H0, so the hypothesis in this study received, so it can be concluded that the Studentâs understanding of mathematical concepts by applying active learning strategies the power of two better than the understanding of mathematical concepts studentâs by applying conventional learning eighth grade studentâs SMPN 3 Lembang Jaya academic year 2013/2014 .

ABSTRACT The background of this research is about a low understanding of mathematical concept of studentâs math and a less change they have to be participated toward assignment which is given in learning process The purpose of this research is to know whether the understanding of mathematical conceptwith cooperative learning model Kancing Gemerincing technique will be better than a conventional learning technique toward student grade VIII of Junior High School 6 Lubuk Basung. The kind of this research is experimental research by a random design toward a subject. The population of this research is all of students in grade VIII Junior High School 6 Lubuk Basung academic year 2013/2014 that consists of 4 classes. The technique sampling of this research is collected randomly. In this case, class VIII A is chosen as experiment class and class VIII B is chosen as control class. Therefore, understanding of mathematical concepttest is used as instrument. The kind of test is an essay with 0, 87 test reliability. The technique analysis data is t test one way. Based on the result of testing hypothesis t_tabel=1,645 and t_hitung= 2, 5137 because t_hitung > t_tabel, it means the hypothesis is accepted on real level of α = 0, 05. It can be concluded that the understanding concept of studentâs math by applying cooperative learning model Kancing Gemerincing technique is better than a conventional learning technique toward students grade VIII of Junior High School 6 Lubuk Basung.
