Abstract

 ABSTRACT This research was designed for revealing whether the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Index Card Match active learning strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning. This was an experimental research which used random toward the subject design. The population of this research was the student in class IX of MTsN Lumpo registered in academic year 2013/2014. The instrument of the research was an essay  posttest whose reliability was 0,9420. Based on the result of data analysis, it was found that the average score of the students in the experimental class was 73,29 and in the control class was 59,29. In addition, the result of t-test indicated that P-value 0,305 was smaller than α = 0,05. Hence , it was concluded that the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Index Card Match active learning strategy was better than that of students by using conventional learning in class IX MTsN Lumpo on level of significance 95%.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research based on the phenomenon of student study and comprehen math concept. Their understanding was still low. It made them unactive. This research wants to describe student grade XII for science departement in their learning activity. It also wants to know wheter their understanding of math concept using active learning strategies type quiz team with handout is better than conventional learning. This was an experimental research, it used random research design toward the subject. The instrument used in this research is the observation form and test for students understanding of math concepts. The results of research shows that the positive activity of students in learning mathematics using active learning strategies type quiz team and handouts has increased, while the negative activity has decreased in every meeting. Hypothesis test results obtained P-value = 0.006 was smaller than α = 0.05, indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. So, it was concluded that the students understanding of math concepts by applying active learning strategies type quiz team with handouts better than students understanding of the math concepts with conventional learning.

Abstract

ABSTRACT  This research is motivated by the lack of understanding mathematical concepts class VIII SMPN 1 Kecamatan Pangkalan Koto Baru. Because learning is still centered on the teachers and students still lack understanding of concepts in mathematics . One method used to overcome this problem by applying the technique of cooperative learning model two stay two stray in learning . The aims of this research  is to know the student’s understanding of mathematical concepts with the implementation of cooperative learning model two stay two stray technique better than student’s understanding of the mathematical concepts using conventional learning in class VIII SMPN1 Kecamatan Pangkalan Koto Baru academic year 2013/2014 . This research is an experimental study , with a random design on the subject . The population in this research was students of class VIII SMP SMP 1 Kecamatan Koto Baru academic year 2013/20143 . The samples in this reseacrh is randomly technique . Selected VIII.1 as experimental class and VIII.2 as control class. Instrument in this study is the final test in the form of essays . Data were analyzed using the normality test, homogeneity test and t test . Hypothesis test using t-test of the party with the help of software MINITAB , obtained P -value of 0.003 is less than α = 0.05 , so it can be concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts by implementing cooperative learning model two stay two stray technique is better than student’s understanding mathematical concepts  with conventional learning in class VIII SMPN1 Kecamatan Pangkalan Koto Baru the level of 95 %.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The background of this research was the lack of students understanding mathematical concept, the students didn’t attentions for teacher explanation and lacke students noted the subject describes teachers. The purpose of this research is to knows students understanding in mathematical concept with applying active learning strategy by using guided note taking with quiz to be better from the student mathematical concept with apply the conventional learning at grade eighth of SMPN 23 Padang of academic 2013/2014 years. This research is experimental research with the random design of subject. The population is the students grade eight of SMP 23 Padang of academic 2013/2014 years. The sample has to with randomly that choosen grade VIII1 has experimental class and VIII2 has control class. The instrument are quiz and test. The type of test is essay with reliabilitas test is 0,86. The analyze technique of the data using one side test t with software MINITAB. Based on analyze of the data to the real  α=0,05 the result P-value = 0,008. P-value  is less than from α= 0,05, so the hypothesis of the research will accept, that mean is the understanding of students mathematical concept with apply active learning strategy by using guided note taking with quiz is better from the students understanding mathematical concept with apply conventional learning at grade eighth of SMPN 23 Padang.

Abstract

ABSTRACThe aim of the research was to study whether the understanding of mathematical concept of the students taught by using Genius Learning strategy with Guided Finding method was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning. This was an experimental research which used random toward the subject design. The population of the research was the students in class VIII of SMPN 3 Sutera registered in Academic Year 2013/2014. The data obtained was analyzed by using t-test on the significance level 0,05. Based on the result of data analysis, it was found that H0 was rejected signifying that the understanding of mathematical concept of the students taught by using Genius Learning strategy with Guided Finding method was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class VIII of SMPN 3 Sutera.

Abstract

ABSTRAK The low student learning outcomes and student activities in math , especially on the operations of material fractions in grade V Elementary School 33 West Rawang reflected in the average value of daily tests are still below the minimum completeness kreteri ( KKM ) which has been set at the beginning of the school year namely the classical completeness kreterial 75 and 80 % of the number of students . This study was conducted at the VA grade Elementary School 33 West Rawang where the procedures of the study consisted of four phases: planning , given action , observation and evaluation , and the last doing analysis and reflection . Data collection techniques taken from the students during learning activities and the results of tests of learning takes place . The success criteria as a benchmark in this study in the classical 80 % of the total student has reached the KKM. Dari study conducted on two cycles obtained a description of learning outcomes is an increase in the first cycle the average value of learning outcomes increased  66.43 to 79.9 the second cycle . Students in learning activities also showed that 59.5 % improvement in the first cycle , increased to 87.8 % in the second cycle . This indicates that the approach can increase the activity of contextual learning and student learning outcomes then the hypothesis proposed action is acceptable .

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe research based on the lack of problem about students are less holding responsible in doing given and students’ comprehension’s mathematical concept. This research had a purpose to know that students’ comprehension mathematical concept in which the learning model applied was Technique Business of Berisiko, better than students’ comprehension in was conventional learning at grade VIII of SMPN 2 Lembah Melintang. Type of this research was experimental by research with random research design on the subject. Data analysis was done by using t-test with MINITAB’s software. Result of hypothesis testing, the researcher got p-value = 0,033 < , thus the hypothesis of this research was accepted. There can be concluded that students’ comprehension mathematical concept in which the teaching model applied was technique business of Berisiko, was better than students’ comprehension of mathematical concept in which the applied was by conventional learning at grade VIII of SMPN 2 Lembah Melintang.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The background of this research was by the lack of student participation in teaching learning process grouply. The student  did not have an effort to practise individually, the students understanding of mathematical concept still low.  It can be seen at the result students mathematic at the eight grade of student SMPN 17 Padang 2013 / 2014. This was an experimental reseach, applied random to subjek. The population was  eight grade student of SMPN 17 Padang 2013 / 2014, consist of eight class. Technique of data collection was  random, VIII-7 as experimental and VIII-8 as control class. Instrument in this research was understanding of mathematical concept in essay form. Based on the data analisys known that both of class homogeneous and have  normal distribution. The hypothesis was accepted. Can concluded that understanding of mathematical concept by applied active lerning The Firing Line  type better than appllied conventional learning at the eight grade students SMPN 17 Padang.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the understanding of mathematical concepts MTsN Pitalah eighth grade students is still low. This is because students are not trained to work with her in learning and they do not understand about the concept that should be used in work on the problems set by the teacher. This study aims to determine whether students’ understanding of mathematical concepts by applying active learning strategies The Power Of Two types accompanied Speed Test better than the students’ understanding of mathematical concepts by applying conventional learning strategies The Power Of Two accompanied Speed Test to eight grade students learning mathematics MTsN Pitalah Kab. Tanah Datar. This type of research is experimental. Random sampling technique to the subject. The instrument used is the Speed Test and final test students understanding of mathematical concepts. Form of the test used is the reliability 0,821 essay. The results obtained from testing the hypothesis t=  2,5 is greter than t table = 0,05 then the hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that the students’ understanding of mathematical concepts by applying active learning strategies The Power Of Two types accompanied Speed Test better than student understanding of mathematical concepts by applying conventional learning eighth grade students MTsN Pitalah Kab. Abstract

ABSTRACKTThe background of the research is the researcher found that there is a students’ lack understanding related to the mathematical concept at XI IPA of Senior High School Adabiah 2 Padang, and the students’ learning outcome at that school is also low. The purpose of the research is to find out whether the understanding of mathematical concept by applying Treffinger Model is better than Conventional model at XI IPA of Senior High School Adabiah 2 Padang Year 2013/2014. Afterward, the type of the research is an experimental research. Then, the population of the research is the students at XI IPA of Senior High School Adabiah 2 Padang Year 2013/2014. Next, the technique sampling of the research is random sampling, XI IPA 5 as the experimental class and XI IPA 1 as the control class. The instruments that use are motivation checklists and the final test with indicators of concept understanding. The type of the test is essay; 5 questions, with 0,68 reliability. Thus, the result of the test is an abnormal distribution. So, the researcher decided to use Mann-Whitney test with Z = -9,69 and Ztable=-1,65 shown that  Z < Ztable with 5% real level. Last, can be concluded that the students’ understanding of mathematical concept by implementing Treffinger Model is better than Conventional Model at XI IPA Senior High School Adabiah 2 Padang Year 2013/2014.
