Abstract

Background: Psychological capital is a positive capacity possessed by individuals to develop in improving nurse performance. Several studies state that the performance of nurses is still not optimal. Therefore, mental support and leadership style mediated by psychological capital are needed as a strategy to improve nurse performance. Purpose: This review aims to identify literature related to psychological capital, emotional support and leadership style to support the improvement of nurse performance in service. Methods: This study used an integrative approach based on Whittemore and Knaf's use to conduct the review. The articles used are published from 2012 to 2020 using the Proquest, Pubmed, and Science Direct databases. Results: The search returned 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria. Positive psychological capital has a positive relationship to nurse performance. Interventions for nurses to improve performance by increasing positive psychological capital must be developed and made available to nurses. Interventions focused on the individual level excluding the broader social context or organizational level. Conclusion: Positive psychological capital can influence the performance of nurses in providing services to patients. Hospital nursing managers need to provide training to nurses regarding psychological capital to increase their psychological capital.

Abstract

Vaccines are one of the most economical and effective ways to prevent an infectious disease. Vaccination at the village or kelurahan level affects the success of national scale vaccination. The variety of public knowledge about vaccination causes the percentage of vaccinations not to reach the maximum level and misinterpretations about co-occurrence after the covid-19 immunization. Therefore, it is very important to know the determinants of knowledge about vaccines and follow-up events after Covid-19 immunization in Loka Village. This research is a cross sectional study design. The population is the people of Loka Village, with a sample of 400 respondents, to see the correlation of characteristics with knowledge about vaccines and knowledge about follow-up events after Covid-19 immunization using the Spearman Rho correlation test. The results of the study found that there was a correlation between age with knowledge of vaccines r = 0.216, education r = 0.186, and occupations with knowledge of vaccines r = -0.114, and occupations with knowledge of post-immunization follow-up events r = 0.165 positive correlation. Age and education were positively correlated with knowledge about vaccines, while occupation was negatively correlated. However, the work is positively correlated with knowledge about post-immunization

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease that causes premature death worldwide and is a major cause of blindness, heart disease, and kidney failure. It is estimated that 1 person dies every 5 seconds from diabetes. The main cause of death is lack of self-care. This is influenced by the individual's ability to understand and access health and use health services (health literacy). This study aimed to find out the analysis of health literacy with self-care for the diabetic elderly. A cross-sectional design was carried out on the elderly who visited Simpang Tiga Health Center Pekanbaru city. 97 elderly people were chosen as the sample through purposive random sampling. Then, the data were analyzed using frequency distribution and chi square test. The results showed that elderly people with good health literacy were only 21 people (21.6%), while 33 people had problems (34.0%), 43 people (44.3%) were inadequate, and 44 people had good self-care (45.4%). ), 27 people were enough (27.8%) and 26 people were lacking (26.8%). There is also a significant relationship between health literacy and self-care of DM patients (p=0.000). Based on the characteristics of the respondents, this study found that education had a significant relationship with self-care (p=0.000). Then, the health literacy sub-variable, understand information and apply information, has a significant relationship with self-care (p=0.000). It is expected for the elderly to always improve themselves in health literacy and carry out self-care in the prevention of diabetes mellitus in the form of diet compliance, regular exercise, identifying symptoms of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, regular treatment, and improving quality of life.

Abstract

Background: The outbreak of Covid-19 since it was first identified in Wuhan has a tremendous global effect on many aspects of human life and it affects both developed and developing countries. Meanwhile, the prevalence of diabetes is also increasing along with the viral infection, hence, a review needs to be developed that can serve as the basis for clinical care improvements. Design and methods: This scoping study review aims to explore the relationship between diabetes and Covid-19 condition using the latest relevant evidence. Results: The findings revealed that after hypertension and cardiovascular diseases, diabetes is a major comorbid among patients with the virus. Based on the existing evidence, the comorbid disease has deleterious effects on the treatment course, morbidity, and clinical outcomes of Covid-19. Furthermore, some unique changes in immune responses have been identified, which exhibit different manifestations and interactions with standard diabetes treatments. Interactions have also been discovered between blood glucose, body mass index, and several hematological parameters, which correspond to the progression of the infection among diabetic patients. Conclusion: Based on the results, Covid-19 triggered an exponential rise in the systemic inflammatory reaction, and patients with diabetes tend to have worse conditions, which were indicated by the increase in the ICU admission and mortality rate. Furthermore, the viral infection has various effects on the blood glucose stability of patients.
