Abstract

The research aims to study the effect of intraction of vermicompost fertilizer and cow urine in the medium of ultisol subsoil to growth of oil palm seedlings. The research was conducted from Maret to July 2014. The research is a factorial experiments used Completely Randomized Design (CRD), the main factor is vermicompost fertilizer with 4 levels (0, 25, 50, and 75 g/polybag) and the second factor is concentrations of cow urine with 4 levels (0, 10, 20, and 30%). Each treatments combination repeated 3 times. Parameters measured were seeds height, hump diameter, leaf numbers, dry weight of seeds, shoot and root ratio. The result showed that the application of vermicompost fertilizer and cow urine have not significant effect on seeds height, hump diameter, leaf numbers, dry weight of seeds, shoot and root ratio. The application 75 g/polybag of vermicompost fertilizer and 30% of cow urine tend to  increas the seeds height, hump diameter and  leaf numbers of oil palm seeds greater than other treatments. Abstract

Rice is an important crop in Indonesia, because it contains carbohydrates, protein, fat, fiber, vitamins, and trace elements. Pomacea sp. is a major pest of rice crops in Indonesia. Use of plant molluscicides like Tinospora crispa L. is an alternative to reduce the use of synthetic chemical pesticides. This study aimed to obtain the concentration of Tinospora crispa L. capable of controlling the Pomacea sp. in riceplant. This research was conducted at  plant pest laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau and in the experiments farm of the  Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau.This research using a completely randomized design (CRD), which consist of 5 treatments and 4 replications. There are  extracts Tinospora crispa L.  0 g/l of water, 25 g/l of water, 50 g/l of  water, 75 g/l of water, 95 g/l of water. Concentration of Tinospora crispa L. 75 g/l of  water is able to control Pomacea sp. The result indicated that concentration of 75 g/l of water can cause initial time of death is 12 hours after application,   LT50reach  in  28.25 hours and total mortality 86,99%.   Keyword: Oryza sativa L., Pomacea L., Tinospora crispa L.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the interaction between EFB compost with LCC compost and P fertilizer mixture on P uptake and production of sorghum. The research was carried out by experiments using a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 2 factors and 3 replications. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance and tested further to the test of Duncan's New Multiple Range test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The observations made are analysis P uptake, age out panicle, harvesting, number of branches panicle, number of seeds per panicle, grain weight per panicle, weight of 1000 seeds, the results per plot and the ratio of seed and straw. The results of P fertilizer treatment mixture of 60 kg/ha and EFB compost1.25 tonnes/ha with LCC compost 3.75 tonnes/ha is that it can increase the uptake of P sorghum at 42 DAT is 9.98 mg. The highest yield was obtained on treatment with the proceeds 882.72 g/plot  (2.45 tonnes/ha). Keywords: Compost, EFB, LCC, P, Sorghum

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the influence of ELCPKS and dolomite interaction on oil palm seedling growth and get the best dose for oil palm seedling growth. This research was conducted at the experimental station of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau on December 2013 until March 2014. This research was arranged on using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factorial: Factor 1 ; dose of ELCPKS, L0 = Without ELCPKS, L1 = 25 g ELCPKS /polybag, L2 = 50 g ELCPKS of  /polybag and L3 = 75 g ELCPKS of /polybag. Factor II ; dolomite D0 = Without dolomite/polybag, D1 = Giving 6 g dolomite /polybag, D2 =12 g dolomite /polybag, D3 = 18 g dolomite /polybag and repeated 3 times, so obtained 48 units experiment. Parameters observed were the increase of plant height, increase of stump diameter, increase of leaves number, root volume, root shoot ratio and dry weight. The result showed that ELCPKS and dolomite interaction affect on; increase of plant height, increase of stump diameter, root crown ratio and plant dry weight, but not significantly on increase of leaves number and root volume. The best results shows on 75 g ELCPKS of /polybag and 18 g dolomite /polybag. ELCPKS treatment on oil palm seedling affect to all parameters, meanwhile the dolomite lime treatment affect to all parameters except on increase of leaves number and root shoot ratio.   Keywords : Oil palm seedling, ELCPKS, dolomite

Abstract

The purpose of this research to know the effectof bioslurry fertilizer, NPK, and interaction andgetthe bestcombinationto the growthoil palm seedsinmain nursery. This research is conducted by using the Complete Random Device (CDR) consists of2 factors with 3 repetitions. The first factor is bioslurry fertilizer and the second factor is NPK. Data were analyzedusingANOVAandfollowed byfurther Different Real Honest (DRH)testat5% level. The parameters which been observed were the increment of seeds height (cm), increment of seeds leaf (sheet), increment of seeds hump diameter (cm) and root volume of seeds (ml). The results of research showed the combination of bioslurry fertilizer with NPK gived real effect to increment of seeds hump diameter (cm) and root volume of seeds (ml). 200 ml/polybag of bioslurry fertilizer with 10 g/polybag of NPK is the best combination. Giving of bioslurry fertilizer gived real effect to increment of seeds leaf (sheet) and root volume of seeds (ml). 200 ml/polybag of bioslurry fertilizer is the best bioslurry fertilizertreatment. Giving of NPK gived real effect to increment of seeds height (cm), increment of seeds leaf (sheet) and root volume of seeds (ml). 10 g/polybag of NPK is the best NPK treatment. Abstract

Giving chicken manure fertilizer and N, P, K done to improve the growth and production of sweet corn in ultisol soil.This research aims to obtain interaction of various doses of chicken manure fertilizer and N, P, K the best on the growth and production of sweet corn in ultisol soil. This research was carried out in society garden at Indra Puri, Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru in September to December 2013. This research used Randomized Block Design (RBD). The treatment consist of2 factors, factor I: without chicken manure fertilizer, 46,8g/plant chicken manure fertilizer, 70,3g/plant chicken manure fertilizer, 93,7g/plant chicken manure fertilizer and factor II: without giving N, P and K, 9,14g/plant ZA, 6,25g/plant TSP, 0,14g/plant KCl, 13,7g/plant ZA, 9,79g/plant TSP, 0,21g/plant KCl, 18,2g/plant ZA, 13g/plant TSP, 0,29g/plant KCl. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and further tested by Duncan's Multiple test at 5% level. Parameters measured were the plant height(cm), cob diameter (mm), Male flowers appear time (DAP), female flowers appears time (DAP), heavy cob with husk(g), heavy cob without husk (g) and plants dry weight. The results of research shows the interaction of chicken manure fertilizer and N, P, K  had no effect on all parameters except on cob diameter and plants dry weight. Combination treatment of chicken manure fertilizer with N, P, K can improve sweet corn growth, while the increase of sweet corn production occurred at doses 46,8 g/plant chicken manure fertilizer and ZA 13,7 g/plant, TSP 9,79 g/plant, KCl 0,21 g/plant. Abstract

This research aim is to know the influence and get a glycine concentration on vacin and went (VW) medium that giving the best growth of Dendrobium orchid plantlet by in vitro. This research was conducted in Plant Biotechnological Laboratory of Farm Faculty, University of Riau, Pekanbaru from March till June 2014. This research is an experiment used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which arranged in six levels and three repetitions. The treatment is giving a several glycine concentration started with without glycine, 1 mg glycine/l, 2 mg glycine/l, 3 mg glycine/l, 4 mg glycine/l and 5 mg glycine/l. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance and Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The result showed that giving a several glycine concentration was not significant for all parameters, but giving glycine with concentration 4 mg/l showed the best result to the height of plant, leaf amount, root amount and visual view of the Dendrobium orchid plantlet.   Keyword: Dendrobium, Orchid Plantlet, Glycine

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect ofrice straw compostand potassium, andits combination with the right doseof the growth of oil palm seeds in main nursery. The research was conducted at the experimental farm of Agriculture Faculty, Universityof Riau, Bina Widy astreet, district of Tampan, Pekanbaru City. This research was conducted on April until June 2014. This research arranged experimentally using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factorial. The first factor is compostedrice straw(0, 75, 100and125g/plant), second factor is potassium(0, 0,825, 1,10and 1,375 g/plant) were repeated 3 times. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) andfollowed byDuncan’s test at 5% level. Parameters measured were theincrease of seeds height, increase of seeds hump diameter, increase of leaves number, increase of leaf midrib length and increase of leaf width. The results showedthat giving rice straw compostand potassiumand it combination not revealgood growth toall parameters but thesingle factor of potassiumgavegood resultsatincrease of seeds height, increase of seeds stump diameter and increase of leafmidrib length atdose of0,825g/plant. Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the growth of some clones of cocoa seeds on peat soils and red-yellow podzolic (RYP). This study has been carried out in the experimental garden of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau from February to May 2014.  This research arranged experimentaly using completely randomized design (CRD), consisted of 6 treatments and each treatment was repeated 4 times then obtained 24 experimental units. Treatment in the test was K1P : TSH 858 Clone on RYP soil;    K1G : TSH 858 Clone on Peat soil; K2P : ICCRI 01 Clone on RYP soil; K2G : ICCRI 01 Clone on Peat soil;   K3P : ICCRI 03 Clone on RYP soil; K3G : ICCRI 03 Clone on Peat soil. Parameters measured were seeds height,  leaves number, stump diameter and leaf area.  Data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and further test followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The results showed that treatment of clones in some growth media significantly influence the parameters of stump diameter and leaf area. The results also showed that treatment  TSH 858 clones on peat soil showed good growth compared with other treatments.   keywords : Cocoa, Clone, growth media

Abstract

Sweet corn (Zea mays var. Saccharata Sturt) is one of the crops which liked by people because it has a good taste, and sweeter than ordinary corn. One of the effort that can be do to improve and increase soil fertility is apply bioslurry organic fertilizer. Bioslurry is the end product of the animal waste processing for biogas energy.  Bioslurry containing elements that need for sweet corn such as N, P, K. This study aimed to know the effect of bioslurry and get the best dose of bioslurry on the growth and production of sweet corn. This research was experimently using a randomized block design (RBD), which consists of 6 treatments and 4 replications. Parameters measured were plant height (cm), number of leaves (pieces), flowers appear male and female flowers (HST), weight cob with husk and without husk (gram), cob diameter (cm) and production per plot (gram). The results showed that the bioslurry fertilizer application significantly affected plant height, number of leaves, flowers appear male and female flowers, weight cob with husk and cob without husk, cob diameter, and production per plot. Application at dose  of  7.5 liters / 4.5 m² give the best results on the growth and production of sweet corn than other treatments.   Keywords: sweet corn, bioslurry fertilizer
