Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a dangerous viral disease because itcan cause death in a very short time. The desease is caused by dengue viral withAedes aegypti (Ae.aegypti) as the main vector. Various ways have been made toeradicate Ae.aegypti, one of which is the use of chemical larvicides. However, theuse of this chemical larvicides has adverse effects, so it is necessary to findanother alternative such using botanical larvicides. Papaya (Carica papaya) is aplant that is potentially as botanical larvicides. The aim of this research is toknow the larvicide effect etanol extract of papaya leaf (Carica papaya) againtsAe.aegypti larvae. This is an experimental research by using variousconcentration are 400ppm, 800ppm, 1000ppm, 1200ppm, 1400ppm, 1600ppm,1800ppm and a container of distilled water as a control. Test performed threerepetitions with each concentration contains of 20 larvae. The level of larvaemortality was observed after 24 hours. Abstract

Renal failure is a disesase causes a progresive and irreversible reduction of kidney’s function to filtrate waste products from the blood. Indonesia’s prevalence of chronic renal failure is about 0.2 %. Patient with chronic renal failure will achieved severe damage on kidney which will leads to emergency. This research was analytic study with consecutive sampling method to determined the correlation between hemodialysis duration with body mass index on chronic renal failure patients in General Hospital Arifin Achmad Riau Province on May 2014. Sample was taken by measuring patients’ weight and height in Hemodialysis Unit General Hospital Arifin Achmad Riau Province on 2014, where have obtained as many as 58 people. The result showed that chronic renal failure patients most have underwent hemodialysis at age group 45-65 years old (72.4 %), commonest in women about 51.7 %, most hemodialisys frequency was twice a week for four hours(51.7 %). Most of patients had undergone hemodialisys duration about > 12 months (53.4 %). This research was processed by using statistic test correlation Lambda, results have shown a significant and moderate correlation between duration of hemodyalisis and body mass index (r=0.40;p<0,001), which was led to a conclusion: hemodyalisis duration will effect patients’ body mass index. Keywords: Renal failure, hemodialysis, body mass index.

Abstract

World Health Organization (WHO) classified tuberculosis (TB) as global emergency at the end of 1993. Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (DOTS) is a direct supervision for short-term treatment, recommended by the World Health Organization for the world TB prevention. The Millennium Development Goals (MDGS) in 2015 is to reduce the number of deaths caused by tuberculosis for 50%. To achieve the target, program policy against tuberculosis improvement and evaluation will be needed. Evaluation in this research done by using two nasional indicators, which are success rate (national targets should be at least 85%) and conversion rate (national targets should be at least 80%). This research was using mixed methods with quantitative and qualitative approachment. Samples was taken by total sampling method, where 304 people have obtained as quantitative research samples and 3 people as qualitative research samples. Research results showed that the success rate at the end of 2009 and 2012 was 94%, in 2010 was 93%, in 2011 was 86%, and in 2008 was 77%. While the conversion rate at the end of 2011 was 96%, in 2012 was 94%, in 2009 was 91%, in 2008 was 89%, and in 2010 was 82%. It can be concluded that success rate in General Hospital Arifin Achmad Riau Province in 2008 have not reached national targets yet, but in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 have exceeded national targets. Abstract

In the case of violent crimes such as murder, assault and rape, it is possible to find biological fluids such as blood spots at the crime scene . Blood spots contained two components, such as cellular component consisting of erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets and plasma components. Erythrocytes contained hemoglobin that contain iron atom (Fe). Iron atom in heme would be reduced from Fe2+ to Fe 3+ due to reaction with oxygen. Alteration of Fe2+ to Fe3+ can be analyze by using infrared spectrophotometric. This study aims to determine the change in the value of % T in human bloodstains on cotton cloth functional groups contained in the molecule Fe-O. This study is experimental. Samples were white cotton cloth soaked in human blood. To see the correlation of % T with the age of bloodstains on cotton cloth used Pearson correlation test. The results show that no correlation was found from persenttransmitance Fe-O with age human bloodstain on cotton cloth using infra red spectrophotometry.Keyword : Persenttransmitance Fe-O, bloodstain
