Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Most of the TB cases (95%) and death (98%) occured in developing countries. Relapse of TB are patients who previously got TB treatments, where declared cured or achieved completed treatment at the end of their most recent course of treatment, and are now diagnosed with a relapse episode of TB by sputum smear or culture results positive. This research was a descriptive retrospective study, which was conducted by using medical record of patients. Sample collected by using total sampling method. The results showed that patients relapse of pulmonary tuberculosis who undergone theraphy in lung department of RSUD Arifin Achmad showed large proportion in the age group 25-44 years (44.1%), the most gender was males (73.5%%), most work was labours (50.9%), most of patients had no history of weight gain (65.7%), time of relapse was < 4 years (80.4%), most comorbidities were no comorbidity (57.8%), most regularity of taking medicine was unregularly (66.7%), and most of patients had history of adverse effect in OAT treatment (68.6%).Key words :Tuberculosis (TB), relapse.

Abstract

Myopia is a refractive error with incidents between 50% to 80,3% at some hospitals in Indonesia. Based on World Health Organization, the prevalence of myopia is increasing. The prevalence of myopia among medical students is nearly twice as high as in general population. Risk factor that associated with myopia is genetic or herediter, near work activitis and prevention attitudes. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between heredity, near work activities and prevention attitudes in students of Faculty Medicine of Riau University with incidence of myopia. This study was analytic observational cross sectional study. The subjects in this study are medical students of Faculty Medicine of Riau University grade 2010, 2011 and 2012. Total samples in this study is 85 people taken with stratified random sampling technique. The data of relationship between heredity with myopia was analyzed by chi-square test, relationship between myopia with near work activities for variable reading book and work study task was analyzed by kolmogorov-smirnov test, for variable reading for pleasure (hobby), watching televison, using computer or laptop was analyzed by chi-square test and relationship between prevention attitudes with myopia was analyzed by kolmogorov-smirnov test. The result of this study showed a significant association for heredity with myopia (p = 0,001). There were no statistically association between reading and work study task (p = 0,492), reading for pleasure or hobby (p = 0,895), wathcing television (p = 0,774), using computer or laptop (p = 0,680). No association between prevention attitudes with myopia (p = 0,144).Keyword : myopia, heredity, near work activities, prevention attitudes

Abstract

Physical fitness is a fundamental element being a human. A fit and healthy body helped us to maintain focus while studying, leads to excellent understanding and ability to solve a problem. This research aimed to discover the relationship of knowledge and attitude of faculty of medicine, university of riau students to their physical fitness level. This analytic research used a cross sectional design to 86 sample of faculty of medicine, university of riau students. This research used Harvard Step Test as the method to measure the fitness level and a valid questionnaire to assess the knowledge and attitude aspects. The result is 51 students (59.3 %) had a good knowledge, 46 students (53.5%) had a negative, and 71 students (82.6 %) had a bad physical fitness. From statistical point of view found p=1.031 for the relation between knowledge and physical fitness p=0.437 for the relation between attitude and physical fitness.Keywords: Knowledge, Attitude, Physical Fitness, Harvard Step Test

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a malignant tumor derived from primary squamous epithelial cells that grow on the surface of the epithelial or outer layer of the cervix, and is caused by virus infections Human Papiloma Virus (HPV). One of the given therapy on patients of cervical cancer is radiotherapy. Radiotherapy is done by people with cervical cancer that can affect the quality of life of the respondent which can be assessed by using the WHOQOL questionnair. The purpose of this research is to know the description of the quality of life of patients with cervical cancer undergoing radiotherapy. This research is descriptive research with cross sectional approach implemented in June 2014. There are 31 people with cervical cancer undergoing radiotherapy. From this research found the age of respondents in the age group 40-49 years 50-59 years and the age group 60-69 years were relatively the same lot. The majority of respondents were Malays (58,06 percent). Most respondents were the PRIMARY education (38,80). Most respondents work was as the IRT (90,32 per cent). The respondents underwent radiotherapy most within > 5 weeks (100%). On cervical cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy at the PROVINCIAL HOSPITAL Arifin Achmad Riau Province found the quality of life in both categories as much as 61,30%.Key word: cervical cancer, radiotherapy , quality of life

Abstract

Urological trauma can present in kidney, ureter, bladder, urethra, penile, testis and scrotum. Urological trauma not only caused decrease quality of life but also create complicaton if not dealt with appropriately and quickly. This research was purposed to know clinical representation of urological trauma in RSUD Arifin Achmad Pekanbaru since Januari 2009 – Desember 2013. This study was a descriptive retrospective study. Data has shown 23 medical records of urological trauma parients. Result from this study is total of urological trauma is 38 cases of all trauma cases (0,40%) in RSUD Arifin Achmad Pekanbaru sinse Januari 2009 – Desember 2013. Urologic organ often affected is kidney is 8 cases (32%). Urological trauma patients There are 19 cases (82,6%) were males and 4 cases (17,4%) were females. The most common age was 20-30 years old (30,5%). The most coomon etiology of urological trauma was blunt trauma is 16 cases (69,5%) whereas the most management of urological trauma is konservatif as 21 cases (605). The multiple trauma of this research are one cases for trauma of urology organ with urology organ and two cases for urology organ and non urology organ.Keyword : urological trauma, urethral trauma, renal trauma, blunt trauma

Abstract

Cervical cancer is the third most frequent cancer in women in Indonesia.Indirect female sex worker are in high risk for having cervical cancer. WorldHealth Organization had recommended an alternative approach for developingcountries with down staging concept of cervical malignancy with visual inspectionwith acetic acid (VIA) to detect cervical precancerous lesion. This research wascarried out at hotspot Tuanku Tambusai Street, Pekanbaru aimed to describe thecharacteritics of respondent and to detect displastic cervical epithelial cells withVIA. The result showed from 31 indirect female sex worker, 52 % were diagnosedwith positive acetowhite appereance (positive VIA). Conclusion of the study thatdisplastic cervical epithelial cells of indirect female sex worker who has high riskfor having cervical cancer should be reffered for further follow up.Keywords: Visual inspection with acetic acid, Cervical cancer, Cervicalprecancerous lesion, Indirect female sex worker.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic disease which characterized byhyperglycemia, caused by insulin secretion or insulin activity disorder or both.Uncontrolled DM could cause many complications, one of them is diabetic ulcer. Thesample was 39 patients using total sampling. In conclusion,characteristics of respondentsby sex diabetic ulcer patients obtained 56.42% were females, age group <60 yearsobtained 82%, and duration of suffering DM obtained 48.72% 0-5 years. Distribution ofdiabetic ulcers based on fasting blood sugar obtained 93.93% is bad.. Diabetic ulcersdistribution based on the location of 47.91% was obtained at toes, feet and back legsrespectively 16.67%, 10.41% ,other areas and heel respectively 8.33%. Distribution ofdiabetic ulcer based on Wagner criteria was obtained 33.3% Grade 4, Grade 3 obtained25.6%, 23.1% obtained Grade 5, Grade 2 obtained 10.3%, 7.7% obtained Grade 1 andGrade 6 obtained 0%. Distribution of diabetic ulcer based on length of stay obtained63.15% were> 7 days, 3-7 days obtained 28.94%, and <3 days gained 7.89%. Distributionof diabetic ulcer based on therapy obtained 89.7% were non-surgical, and surgical therapyobtained 10.3%.Keywords: DM, diabetic ulcer, profile.

Abstract

Postdural Puncture Headache (PDPH) is an iatrogeniccomplication from spinal anesthesia caused by puncture or laceration fromduramater which leads to leakage of cerebrospinal liquor (LCS). Manyfactors to influence the incidence of PDPH one of which is the size ofspinal needle. The purpose of this research to know comparison theincidence of PDPH between Quincke 25G and 26G in patients with postsectio caesarea. In this cohort analytic study, 68 consecutive patients withpost sectio caesarea under spinal anaesthesia accordance to the inclusiveand exlusive criteria were included. Incidence of PDPH in the Quincke25G needle is 4 repondents (11,8%) and the 26G Quincke is 2 respondents(5.9%). With the most common sites of pain on Frontooccipital, andseverity were assessed using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Abstract

Diatomea investigation in the body of drowning victims is one of important investigation todetermination the drowning victims location. Diatomea is sould in the lung or another organfrom the body of victims as prove of drowning intra-vitality it means the victims are still alivewhen they are in the water and they are dead because of it. Diatomea species determining can beconcluded as a supporting diagnose to identify the location of drowning victims by comparingthe diatomea in the victims body with diatomea species in the water this research is a descriptiveresearch which is purposed for recognizing the species and the diatomea abundant in theRokan’s River Estuary of Bangko Sub-district and Batu Hampar Sub-district Rokan HilirRegency this research sample is taken from five research of stasions as purposive sampling. Thisresearch was done in April and May 2013 at Rokan’s River Estuary in Sub-district BangkoAnd Subdistrict Batu Hampar Rokan Hilir Regency. Diatomea investigation was done by usingBinocular microscope. This determining was done by using Masaharu and Yunfang atlas theabundant was searched by counted and numbered by using American Public Health Associations(APHA) formula.Diatomea was founded eight species they are: Aulocoseira sp, Diatoma sp, Nitzchia sp,Isthmia sp, Melosira sp, Navicula sp, Skeletonema sp, Bitdulphia sp. The abundant of diatomeais founded 11152,2 sel/L when the water comes up and I found 9132,6 sel/L when the water comedown with the Diatoma sp as the most dominant diatomea as a mount as 4986,4 sel/L when thewater comes up and with diatoma sp as the most dominant Diatomea as amount as 3799,8 sel/L.Keyword : Rokan’s river estuary drowning, species and abundant diatomea

Abstract

Wound healing is a critical process involved in the recovery from injuryand surgical procedures. Many factors can interfere this process, thus causingimproper or impaired wound healing. Psychological stress is one of the factorsthat can have a substantial and clinically relevant impact on wound repair. Astudy to find out the association between stress level and the process of woundhealing in surgical patient has been done on March until April 2013. This was anobservational study which used surgical patients in RSUD Arifin AchmadPekanbaru who underwent clean and clean-contaminated surgical procedures asthe subjects. In this study, we collected 60 patients who were measured theirstress level by using Hamilton Depression Rating Scale questionnaire. The woundhealing process was assessed by using an observational checklist. Result of stresslevel measurement showed that there was 65% of respondents had low level ofpre-operative stress and 96.7% of respondents had low level of post-operativestress. In this study, there was 56,7% of respondents included into mediumcategory of wound healing process. Result of Chi-Square Test showed that therewas an association between stress level and wound healing process of surgicalpatient in RSUD Arifin Achmad Pekanbaru (p = 0,00).Key words : wound healing, stress.
