Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between self-directed learning and science cognitive learning outcomes during the Covid-19 pandemic for class VIII SMP N 23 Pekanbaru. In order to achieve this goal, quantitative research was carried out in the form of correlation research and descriptive research design. The variables observed in this study were self-directed learning and students' science cognitive learning outcomes which were carried out in November 2021 - January 2022. The instruments used were validation sheets, self-directed learning questionnaires and test instruments. The data sources come from primary data, namely the results of closed questionnaire data from self-directed learning and the results of students' cognitive tests in the form of objective questions on the natural sciences material of motion systems in living things and open interviews. The results of the study showed that there was a significant correlation between self-directed learning (X) and science cognitive learning outcomes (Y) in the moderate category in science learning class VIII SMP Negeri 23 Pekanbaru during the Covid-19 pandemic in the 2021/2022 academic year. Self-directed learning affects cognitive science learning outcomes by 17.93% and the remaining 82.1% is influenced by other factors not determined in this study. So based on the results of this study it would be very good if students were able to improve self-directed learning to support improving their learning outcomes.Key Words: Self Directed Learning; Science Cognitive Learning Outcomes; Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to analyze students’ perceptions on Instagram forvocabulary mastery. This research used quantitative research to descriptiveapproaches. The instrument utilized in this study will be a questionnaire. Thisstudy’s population included 117 students from three classes, with 38 serving as asample. The data was collected in the classroom by sharing the questionnaire aboutusing Instagram for vocabulary improvement. Microsoft word and Microsoft excel2019 were utilized to analyze the questionnaire data of the students, as well as togain the validity, reliability and normality of the instrument the writer used SPSS 25.The data demonstrated that overall score of students’ questionnaire result from 38students with the average score 99,2 (66,1%) out of 150 (100%) which means morethan half items are agreed by participants that Instagram has role in students’vocabulary mastery. Based on the findings, therefore recommended for others thatthe first-year students of English Department can gain information more aboutvocabulary through Instagram and also the teacher may guide the students toimprove students’ ability in vocabulary mastery by doing activities in the classroom.Keywords: Perceptions; Instagram; Vocabulary mastery

Abstract

Abstract: The strategy of switching to the mother tongue is used for speaking and involves using the mother tongue for expression without translating it. This research aims to find strategies for switching to the mother tongue used by students of class of 2020 in Japanese conversation. The participants in this study were middle-level students, namely students of class of 2020 of the Japanese language education study program, FKIP Riau University, in Japanese conversation. The purpose of this research is to find out and describe the strategy of switching to the mother tongue used by students of class of 2020 of the Japanese language education study program FKIP Riau University in Japanese conversations. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The research instruments used were interviews and observations. Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of media activity bells on the responsible attitude of children aged 5-6 years. This type of research is experimental research, with a one group pretest posttest pre-experimental design. The population in this study were all children A ALFA OMEGA KIDS PAUD, this research method was carried out by observation and a sample of 15 children. Test the significance of this difference with the t statistic obtained tcount = 22.736 with sig = 0.00 <0.05. Because the Sig value <0.05 means significant. So there is a significant difference in changes in the attitude of responsibility in children between before and after using the Activity Bell media. After treatment has a greater effect than before treatment. The results of this study indicate that the use of Activity Bell media for responsible attitudes is 77.50%.Key Words: Responsibilities, Activity bell

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to find out the use of media in science learning for class VIII students of SMPN 3 Teluk Kuantan. This research was conducted at SMPN 3 Teluk Kuantan, Kuantan Tengah District, Kuantan Singingi Regency in March-April 2022. This type of research is classified as descriptive research using a qualitative approach. Data collection instruments consist of observation sheets, questionnaires, interview sheets, and documentation. The research sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique. Data and data sources were obtained from observations in the laboratory, questionnaires were given to 2 science teachers and 30 class VIII students. The results showed that the use of media based on the results of the teacher's questionnaire was 78%, and based on the student's questionnaire, namely 73%, included in the good category. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the use of science learning media is included in the good category, and in accordance with the subject matter and learning objectives.Key Words: utilization, media, science learning

Abstract

Abstract: This research is aims to find out the levels of students’ speaking and the dominant type of anxiety that occured in speaking performance of the Third Semester Students of English Study Program FKIP Universitas Riau. The population of this research was 113 students which divided into 6A, 6B and 6C class as total number of the third year English Study Program Students of Universitas Riau. The researcher used cluster random sampling to choose the sample and 6B class had been chosen as the sample of the research which was made up of 30 students. The researcher used a questionnaire to collect the data containing 3 types of anxiety. There were 30 items for questionnaire of speaking anxiety. The questionnaire was adapted from FLCAS (Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale) designed by Horwitz et al (1986). The result of the questionnaire shows that the students’ speaking anxiety is in the anxious level. There were five students (12,82%) in the level of very anxious, twenty-seven students (74,36%) in the level of anxious, five students (12,82%) in the mildly level, zero student (0%) both in relaxed also very relaxed level. It concludes that the highest anxiety scale that occurs in “anxious” caused by test anxiety.Key Words: Speaking, Anxiety, Speaking Anxiety

Abstract: This study discusses the use of the Quizlet in learning Japanese vocabularyin grade 10th students of SMAN 9 Pekanbaru. The purpose of this study was to find out whetherthe Quizlet application is effective in mastering the vocabulary of grade 10th students of SMAN9 Pekanbaru and how effective the Quizlet is as a medium for learning Japanese vocabulary.The sample used in this study amounted to 34 people who were students of grade 10th Science3 SMAN 9 Pekanbaru. This research is a pre-experimental research with a research designusing one gorup pretest-posttest. Using pre-test and post-test data, the experimental classconducted a hypothesis test using a two-related sample test and the results were obtainedAsymp. Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 > 0.05 so Hk is accepted and Ho is rejected. It can be concludedthat the Quizlet is considered effective in mastering Japanese vocabulary for grade 10thstudents of SMAN 9 Pekanbaru. To see how effective the Quizlet app is in mastering Japanesevocabulary, an N-Gain test was conducted. From the results of the N-Gain test, an N-Gainscore of 0.82 was obtained, which means that the effectiveness of the Quizlet app is consideredquite high in mastering Japanese vocabulary.Key words: Quizlet, Vocabulary, Japanese, SMAN 9 Pekanbaru

Abstract

Abstract: This study was purposively intended to analyze the difficulties of senior high students’ challenges in listening analytical exposition text. Comprehending factual information by listening to the audio was considered difficult for secondary students of SMKN 6 Dumai. This study used descriptive quantitative. The data was analyzed using a Likert-scale of listening difficulties questionnaire and listening test. 60 students of second year level were used as samples in this research. The findings showed that the level of listening skills of second-year learner own mostly is poor and caused by several causes such as minimum time to practice, word capacity, and native speaker accent.Keywords: Analysis, Listening Difficulties, Analytical Exposition Text.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to develop an e-module based on the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) cooperative model for the topic of the digestive system in class XI Senior High School, in terms of validity and practicality. The development of the e-module uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). This research was conducted until the Development stage and carried out from December 2021 to March 2023. The instruments used in this research were validation sheets and response questionnaires to determine the level of validity and practicality of the product. The results of the validation stage in terms of content, language, presentation, and usage aspects showed a score of 97.4%, indicating with very valid category. The results of the limited trial showed a score of 92.0% with very practical category. Based on the average scores of validity and practicality, the e-module obtained a score of 94.7% with very feasible category. Based on these findings, the developed e-module is considered suitable for use as a supporting teaching material for learning the digestive system topic in class XI Senior High School.Key Words: Teaching Materials; E-Module; Digestive System; STAD.

Abstract

Abstract: The background of this research is because according to researchers learning mathematics is a difficult lesson for children, let alone early childhood even we as adults experience difficulties when learning mathematics. the purpose of this study was to determine the attitude of kindergarten teachers towards learning Mathematics in Bina Widya District, Pekanbaru City. This research is quantitative descriptive. The research population is 312 teachers in Bina Widya District. The sample used was 76 teachers. To determine the sample of this research using random sampling technique. Methods of data collection by using a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is a quantitative descriptive analysis technique using the percentage formula. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the attitude of kindergarten teachers towards learning mathematics in this behavioral aspect is in the sufficient category. Because teachers are less enthusiastic about using APE in learning mathematics, the lack of use of learning media for learning mathematics, and making games in learning mathematics.
